Initiative Roll ~There near the ground level! There's a Wher Mine! ~ Calanoth turned sharply into a dive with a bellowed roar. He pulled out at the last minute, skimming low over the gold and her handler's head. His wings stirred sand into the air as he back winged to the ground on the other side of them, Z'fer practically leaping from his back. Calanoth belched a long flash of fire into the air, his red eyes whirling with rage. The salt spray from the ocean dragged the resulting smoke clear from the air around them. "Filthy Handler!" Z'fer spat as he stalked closer. "You will regret your decisions today!" He didn't even consider the fact that she may be with the riders. Z'fer didn't even try to claim he knew the face of all the wherhandlers at Malvren. He never cared to, the creatures had their uses but were ultimately inferior to their cousins the dragons. The fact that they thought they could defeat them proved as much. Initiative Roll A wher indeed, albeit a very young one - and even if he had been better-acquainted with Malvren's handlers, neither of the pair would have been familiar. Recent transfers from Benden's latest crop of handlers, Kesin and Kesisk were new to the New Weyr. They were, however, fiercely devoted to their new cause: the furtherance of the wherhandlers' ideals and power. The handlers were Kesin's family now, and in her opinion far better to her than her real family ever had been. Just look at what she had now! Not just a wher, but a gold wher. But there was still more to be had, rank and power and the trappings that went with it - all she had to do was fight. She hadn't exactly signed up to have a bronze dragon drop out of the sky at her, though. The girl swore, and her wher snarled, eyes whirling aggressive colors. "Filthy rider," she spat back. "You'll regret your decisions much further back than just today." Kesin HP: 25 Attack: 1d6+1 Defense: 1d4+1 Accuracy: -3 Kesisk HP: 50 Attack: 1d8+4-2 Defense: 1d6+4-2 Accuracy: -5

Kesin: Attacking Kesin looked on in dismay as her young wher stumbled, failing in her initial attack. Hoping the man would be preoccupied by her bonded and she could take advantage of it, she rushed in, swinging. 1+1=2 -3 Acc=-1 Miss

Z'fer: Attacking "Heh. Big talk for such a small girl!" He taunted, easily dodging the hatchling's attack as well as her bonded's swing. The Rider easily stood a full foot taller than her and used his advantage, pulling his own fist back and throwing his full weight in a strike aimed for her head. Kesisk: Attacking Kesisk squealed with pain as the dragon's hit connected and she went tumbling. Even so, she would not be dissuaded. Rolling to her feet, she tried again to attack the rider. It was what Kesin wanted, and it would be done! HP: 37/50 3+4-2=5 5-5=0 Miss

Kesin: Attacking Hey! HEY! He'd hit her! He'd really hit her! Even though it was only a glancing blow, she staggered back and stared at him. No one had ever actually hit her before! "Then pick on someone your own size, you bully! Or can you only fight girls and little babies?" Since her attempt to hit had failed, she fell back on a more traditional 'girly' attack, moving to try to claw at his face and eyes with her carefully-maintained fingernails. HP: 21/25 Miss

Calanoth: Attacking Oh no she didn't! Calanoth stepped in Kesisk's path, preventing her from reaching his Rider. With a snarl he went to throw her aside again. The little gold was more annoying than dangerous. All he had to do was keep her away from His as Z'fer took down her Handler. HP: 65 Atk: 1D10 + 3 Def: 1D8 + 3 Acc: -6 10+3-6 = 7 HIT

Z'fer: Attacking "Girls and Babies don't belong on a battlefield! All I see are a jumped up Handler and her malformed runt!" A weak attack like that was easy to dodge. There was no force behind it unlike his own swings. He widened his stance, bringing his center of gravity lower and struck out with his left fist this time, aiming at her gut. Z'fer HP: 30 Atk: 1D6 + 2 Def: 1D4 + 2 Acc: -3 2+2-3 = 1 HIT

The wher creeled in distress and anger. This terrible big dragon was not only hurting her, he was keeping her from doing as Hers wished - and she needed to help her! She tried desperately to get past her enormous opponent and to his human, fangs and claws flashing

Kesin immediately doubled over at the blow, arms over her stomach, and staggered back. Tears leaked out of the corners of her eyes. This was so much harder than she'd thought! "Everywhere's a ******** battlefield," she gasped. "You just wanted an easy fight, you b*****d. Gonna tell your friends all about the vicious wher you fought, and not tell them she came up to your knee."
But then Kesisk came charging in. Good girl! Taking heart, she tried to go back on the offensive.

Z'fer: Attacking "Yours won't be the only beast I slay today! Every one of you is an enemy and deserves to die!" He was cut off by a sudden sharp pain in his calf, near buckling his leg. "Shards!" Her gold had snuck up on him! His pants were torn and already red blood flowed from the puncture wounds. Adrenaline momentarily blocked the worst of the pain, allowing him to raise the injured leg and aim a kick at the beast. HP:23/30 Atk: 2+2 = 4 Acc: 4-3 = 1 HIT
