It was funny to think that life had been simple, once. His father had been a strong and powerful stallion, and Nemesis still had a hard time shaking the image of him fallen, bleeding, and beaten. He and his family had mourned long enough though, and the eldest son had no time to waste. The Skinwalkers could return any day, and he alone would not be enough to stop them. With his mother finally returned to good spirits, he felt confident enough to venture from the heart of their territory to both patrol the borders, and hopefully seek out some of their dwindling race.
Without other Kalona to add to the Black Skull herd, they would stand no chance against the pelted filth blighting the land. Nemesis soared high over head, his black lips curling back with animosity at the mere thought. He would see them all dead and bloodied before he grew too old. That, he swore to the memory of his father.
Something suddenly caught his eye, something big and boldly colored. The stallion swooped closer, his sanguine-gaze narrowed even as he back winged and landed with all power and little grace. "You look to be a long way from home, stranger," Nemesis rumbled, his tail unconsciously lashing hard behind him as he took in the Kalona stallion with flared nostrils. After years of fending outsiders out from their territory, it was a hard change to accept.

Grass, trees, skies, they were all a blur of similarity. Clarity was becoming false and a sense of life seemed to evade the Kalona, the spark of defense was long gone as he stood, a silent living statue of lack of purpose. He was not old, was not too young, had the build that could protect and a will that needed bandaging. He was not tattered or beaten, but had lost the sense of others. The memories of making others fearful were fading..
Angra Mainyu took in a deep breath, a smile slowly pooling onto his maw as the rattling sound of hooves hitting debris on the ground nearby him introduced a new individual. "It is not very wise to stand so boldly where you may not be looking for trouble." Though he was intrigued by the others presence since Kalona did not simply walk up to each other, Angra was sincere and followed it with a fairly sad excuse of a warning growl.
Curiosity, always one to get the better of him he was willing to hear the other out, who knows, maybe his lost sense of purpose could be sparked. His wild could be returned and he'd be a blazing monster to deal with once more.
"Why have you come?" He didn't demand, he was in no position too, but he made his interest clear.

"I am not concerned," He said, and his teeth bared themselves in a faint sneer at the pathetic sound that drifted from the other. "You are in the territory of the Black Skull herd." And though he had no doubt that he could handle himself if a fight broke out, there would be others rushing to the defense if he called for them. Still, the newcomer seemed despondent somehow, and Nemesis wasn't about to waste that opportunity.
He kept his distance respectable, shifting his wings to get himself more comfortable. "We have not even begun to battle, and already you are defeated." Nemesis shook his head, disgusted by the lack of pride he was witnessing before him. He wasn't exactly sure what had happened to break this one's spirit, but it was something that didn't sit well with him.
With a lash of his tail, the stallion stepped forward and pressed his point. "Why do you not hold yourself up proudly, stallion? Are you not of pure Kalona blood?"

"Isn't concern part of survival..?" Angra asked coldly, some personality began to leak through. His history faded in and out of his mind. He was a shameless killer, he knew this, enjoyed this, but had lost that fighting spirit. This Kalona's cold words dug a hole, more so a pit. Angra could feel the ache of wanting to fight once more, his pelt shivered lightly as the herds name was dropped like a rock in their steady silence.
He had stepped carelessly onto a herds territory, he had truly lost himself. Angra Mainyu was quick to regroup himself in the presence of a pure blood, quite like himself. That's when things began to change about him, he shrugged off the pathetic stance, filling himself out, pelt thick and heavy puffed slightly and his wings shifted to a more at ease spot. He moved his eyes to meet the males and he stared intently. "Defeated. I know of no battle, I know of no life beyond my own." He growls softly, building a slow easy confidence.
The lashing of the males tail created an image for Angra, this male was high ranked, proud and had much to thrive for. A purpose. "A proud stallion, a proud Kalona has purpose. Have you a purpose for me?" He stares grimly.

"I have confidence that should you try anything funny, you will not be walking away unscathed." Nemesis snorted, and if his head lowered faintly to better bare his wicked horns, well, then that was mere coincidence. It was fascinating, watching as the Kalona seemed to shake off whatever chains were weighing him down and stand more confidently.
Not quite defeated then, no. But lacking in purpose. Nemesis smiled, his teeth gleaming slightly as he did so. "Yes. I do." It was as simple as that. "Surely you have not been blind to the Skinwalkers clawing themselves free from the shadows." They were ravaging the lands, ripping apart the balance of power that had stood for so long.
"Our race has spread itself too thin. We breed carelessly with lessers, diluting the purity of our blood. Extinction is a very real threat." He spoke slowly, carefully. He did not wield words as easily as he did his teeth and hooves. "The Black Skull herd is the last remnants of true Kalona. The last Kalona willing to risk life and limb to wipe out these invaders, and stain the earth with their blood."
His hoof ripped at the ground with barely contained rage, his nostrils flaring as he did. "You may either flee like a coward, never to show your face to these lands again... or you can prove yourself worthy of your race."

"Ah." A smirk replaced the blank look that was listed on his face, the Kalona speaking was watching very closely, he didn't doubt for a minute that the other Kalona would let him get away alive if he chose to do anything. Of course, doing something hadn't quite crossed his mind yet.
A purpose...
The thought hit him square in the brain and he felt a tingle grow over his body, muscles twitching and urging him forward, as if physically towards a goal. Though his mind was a whir with devilish excitement he stood steady and strong. His confidence nearly fully recovered now stared hard and long at the red/black Kalona that was all kinds of aggressive.
"I haven't been blind, no, just haven't seen one face to face." He admitted painfully, he was vaguely aware of the terrible occurrences. Skinwalkers were becoming bold, and often found themselves out and about during any hour after any species. Angra was aware that the Kalona, a once proud and pure breed were becoming less. Never had he taken a chance to dwell on it, but times were getting rough.
The herd seemed extremely impressive, and grew as the silence allowed for the thoughts of extinction slip into the brain of the young Kalona.
"I would not flee, how shall I begin to prove myself?" He stares coldly, a spark of his colors glimmer through, though he was no slave, he saw the potential in a new life and sought to keep it. Their blood was vital, Kalona could never be histories nightmares.Tsunake I hope my post makes any sense, I feel half asleep when I got to typing this XD;

Nemesis waited with patience he did not usually have as the young, hot-blooded stallion seemed to consider his option. It would be a very good thing if he was able to persuade this one to join their cause--he was sure that his mother, the Alpha of the herd, would approve. Fortunately, he did not have long to wait, and he allowed himself a thin, grim smile at the answer.
"First, you would meet with our Alpha. If she accepts you, then you accept the herd as your own." They didn't have to be family, but there should be a loyalty--a bond that would not be so easily broken.
He paused for a moment, scrutinizing him with narrowed eyes before he continued. "Then, we will prepare to hunt these fiends down... and hang their heads from the trees, as a warning to the rest of their kind." His hoof smashed against the earth for emphasis, one, solid blow.
"Once they have been wiped out, and our population is once again stable and growing... You are free to do as you would like."Green Ever After ((It does, not to worry! <3))

Angra Mainyu made himself seem eager to please, he wasn't usually so doting, but the adrenaline he was filled with upon being given the chance at a purpose made him want to begin the hunt now and skip introductions, of course he knew better and returned the slow smile of the others.
"Sounds very reasonable." He spoke smoothly, taking his time to truly hear the words of the other, but he was really prancing about childishly inside. His inner child and brain became one again when the other spoke deeply, infuriated, proud and absolutely vicious. The tone itself could have killed. Then the hoof, it hit solid ground, even with the ground being sure of itself, the imprint was deep.
A wicked grin spread wildly on Angras lips and he stared intently at the imprint, then returned his gaze upward to the Kalona. "They've earned no less!" He growled, certainly caught up in the moment.
Purposely, Angra ignored the final comment, once he found a place he had no intention of leaving, he would make that very clear when the time came. Until then.. "Angra Mainyu.." He grunted. "When would I meet your Alpha?" He questioned.

"Nemesis," The stallion replied, and the younger male's enthusiasm was contagious. He wanted to wet his maw with blood, feel the fresh break under his sharp teeth. A slow, deep breath steadied his stirring temper, and Nemesis forced himself to temporarily let go of his anger. Now was not the time, nor the place.
"Whenever she deems to see you. You will be allowed into the herd until then." If Maeryn did not approve of his presence... Well, he would likely be driven out, but he would at least keep his life. As harsh as their lifestyle could be, they were not monsters. Not to their own, at least. His wings slowly stretched themselves until they were open wide, clearly preparing for flight.
Though no command was spoken, Angra was clearly supposed to follow. Those powerful wings beat once, twice, thrice, and with a massive leap, the Kalona stallion took flight.

Angra watched, carefully, as the stallion seemed to steady himself. He wondered quickly to himself if the whole herd had this eagerness that Nemesis seemed to be gripping him so sharply.
He didn't get much of a chance to talk, so instead he swallowed the information. There was a hidden threat behind those, one he was not sure of, but he figured nothing could be worse than sitting around somewhere dying off while the rest of his kind was off having all the fun.
When the stallion rose, Angra got the feeling he was meant to follow and unfolded his grand wings. He hadn't used them in quite sometime, but quite like anything else, he remembered instantly. Giving t hem a chance he followed suit, heaving large flaps before taking off behind the large black stallion.
