He could see the trees of his home in the distance, the bright moonlight illuminating the sands he would be home soon, he enjoyed his trek across the sands, he had felt a welcoming freedom he would not feel again for some time, yet his duty and honor brought him back home, he couldn't say he was not pleased to finally see the palms on the horizon, he only hoped his parents would be pleased. As he thought he found himself glancing toward the sleeping Basira, with a faint smile, she was everything he knew a good wife should be.
Judging by the distance they would be home before Allah rose the sun to its zenith. This comforted the young stallion some. He turned from the oasis in the distance as he from his perch kept an eye on the surrounding sands, no bandits would catch him unawares! That would be shameful, oh by Allah he would never be allowed to return if such a thing happened.
Kamal snorted as the wind blew gently and a shiver ran up his spine as though with the wind something else came...
