x x x x x █║ WHO: Sige & Arden (Aric Val), Garrett & Aravel (Chrystali)
x x x x x █║ WHAT: [BACKLOGGED] At the turn of the New Year, the two run into each other again with two new additions.
x x x x x █║ WHEN: Evening, closing in on late night.
x x x x x █║ WHERE: The main streets of Palisade.
x x x x x █║ WEATHER: Cold, but the fires and mingling bodies lend warmth in the streets.

The fawn bumped against his leg, prompting the gloved hand between its ears to again resume the soothing rub. Garrett had no idea what to do with the baby deer, even though it'd been almost a week since it had appeared by his bed in the wee hours of the morning and nearly given him a heart attack. The mercenary had been worried about the reactions he'd get with a baby trailing him, but to his surprise, most gave him sidelong glances of interest or whispers of the tales of old, but very little in the way of judgment or negativity. Granted, a baby animal wasn't good for business, but he guessed he was sort of a father figure for now, and as such, he had to get his new ward used to the hustle and bustle of humanity.

Aravel wasn't traumatized by it - or so the human thought - just a little skittish if people were too loud or the fire was a little too bright. The longer they spent out in the cold streets and the warmer it became, the more responsive the fawn became; he started to sway to the sides to get a better sniff of cooked goods or return the attention given by cooing women on the sidelines. Garrett counted himself lucky that little Aravel didn't want to stray too far from him; despite the distractions, the fawn always yo-yo'd back to his side, seeking his hand with a flick of soft ears or a press of velveteen nose. The fawn's loyalty and comfort at his side gave him more confidence in his decision, and thus was how they found themselves in the midst of the New Year celebrations in the main street and square of the city, just a man and his deer.

He was dressed nicely, not in his usual travel attire but as a proper gentleman, which generally meant he was uncomfortable but looked rather dashing in the process. The jacket he wore was velvet formal, a rich black with fish-tail cut that was trim over his shoulders, fitted and proper. His trousers were of a dark grey, just as generously sloped to his form as his jacket, calves covered in crafted boots of a color similar to his jacket. The cravat around his neck was pale ash and held by a single gem at his throat, almost the same color as his eyes. With his dark hair swept back in its standard fare and his smile ever present around the curve of his facial scar, he knew he was drawing a little more attention than usual but easily attested it to the deerling that was so much softer in appearance and far more attractive. Aravel was like a piece of the earth stood upon four wobbling legs and graced humanity with its dappled-sky backside for all to coo over.

Speaking of the little angel -- "Ah, Ara, you can't just make a feast of whatever smells proper..." It was useless. The fawn had his glowing green eyes set on a vibrantly red apple, the last of the season. Hardly able to fault the fawn for its attraction to the fruit, he fished out his coin purse and paid the staring man for the apple that was already in Aravel's mouth along with another. This night was going to be a learning experience for both of them, it seemed.

The man's pace quickened as the animal trotted forward, its nose high up in the air following the explosion of aromas that hung in the air with its bright eyes scouring the busy streets. Sige had a more worried expression on his face than normal, bowing his head in brief apologies to the people he collided with while chasing the excitable deer.

"Got you, Arden---!" he said with a heavy sigh, his hand resting at the earthy brown fur of the animal that had stopped to curiously gaze at the extravagant decorations that were hung generously around the area. The man lifted his head up to look at what those golden eyes were amazed by---and immediately gave the deer a little smile, shaking his head in quiet resignation. "You're a little troublesome deer, aren't you?" he says in gentle scolding, kneeling in front of it to touch its face and scratch at its neck. And Arden replied with a little faint sound, for now obediently standing still and even wagging his little tail at the affection. It still seemed ridiculous to Sige, suddenly having this animal at his side just almost a week ago. It had the same rich browns of the mysterious totem he had, that curiously matched the colour of his hair. He stood up then, patting Arden one more time on the head before he berated him softly again, "Now, don't stray too far Arden." he said firmly. And as if the fawn understood him, it pranced around the man, its eyes still bright and curious at each movement, person and decoration it saw, but for the moment didn't seem to stray too far.

Sometimes the fawn got very strange looks--especially when he had to go meet a client of his. But he had no choice but to bring it with him, because despite the fact that he drew attention with it (which was very much unwanted attention to him), he had the overwhelming urge to protect this delicate creature. Yet for once, he didn't want to worry about that part of his life. And he figured it wouldn't hurt to see what the festivities had in store for them. Sige didn't particularly like celebrations like these but any excuse to drink and eat merrily some more was good enough to him.

Just when he thought the fawn was behaving, it darted off so fast it was as if it had spotted something it had to have. Of course with a little sigh, the man rushed forward to catch his little companion once again.

Yet the chase didn't last too long this time, it seemed as if--Arden had found a little friend. The arrival of another fawn surprised him greatly yet it wasn't what completely stunned and made his heart hammer against his chest. Because just like Arden, Sige saw something that he had to have as well.

Sige had always worn relatively proper clothing because he did always think appearances were important, especially in his line of--trade. He wore a long earthy coloured coat over a deep blue vest, lined with a bright golden colour and a white cotton shirt beneath it all. And as always, well fitted trousers, a pair of dark gloves and dark knee-high boots. Yet for all his effort to look nice, next to the dark haired man that he even just saw from the distance--Garrett looked immaculately stunning in all his glory, it was almost ridiculous to see how everyone else around them dulled as he stepped into the scene with those light green eyes, the way he walked, that smirk on his lips---those lips, the feel of them on his----

"Ah!" It was only when he saw Arden casually walk towards the food stand did he remember where he was and what was happening around him. Taking deep breaths as he walked over to the other man and the two fawns, his aquamarine eyes still fixated on the Garrett.

"Your belly is bottomless, you know that?" Garrett informed the fawn as it bobbed its head and twisted its neck in an attempt to get a sizable bite off of the apple. "Shh, shh, stay put, let me help you," he murmured, carefully kneeling - mindful not to actually put his knee on the street - and procuring a small knife from his boot, cutting the apple into a wedge for the fawn to munch. However, Aravel was far too eager and despite the man's struggle, the fawn managed to break the apple in half. Garrett sighed as Aravel threw his head back with triumph and bounded in place a few times, making him chuckle as he replaced his blade and stood up, still holding the other half and the second apple. "Come on then, don't choke--!"

The first half of the apple was gone at an alarming speed, and with a sigh and a few presses of that pale nose into his palm, he relinquished the second half. To his surprise, the fawn's ears suddenly stood upright, the narrow face swiveling around to seek the object of its attention. "Don't go running off, Ara," Garrett warned gently, but the words scarcely left his mouth before he spotted what had garnered Aravel's attention: another fawn! The dark-haired man was dumbstruck, green eyes slightly large as Aravel pranced over to meet the other, swinging his apple half around in joy.

Aravel immediately bounded around the earthen fawn, glowing eyes even brighter with his excitement. A new friend! Oblivious to any sense of danger yet, he eagerly pressed his nose - and subsequently, his apple-half - against Arden's muzzle, trying to share his prize. His small tail bobbed and swayed rapidly, long ears swiveling back and forth as he made sure to listen for his Chosen and give the other fawn all his attention. It was hard, being as young as he was, because he wanted to do everything at once and didn't know how. His legs fairly wobbled with his anticipation, again pressing his nose and apple against Arden's.

Finally able to compose himself, Garrett laughed, a brief, shocked sound as he stared at the two. What were the chances that someone else had a fawn too, after his meeting with the Assassin? Instinctively, he lifted his eyes as he saw someone approaching, assuredly the owner of the fawn -- and his world fairly screeched to a halt. The partial grin he wore began to fade, his brows lifting over his startled gaze as the shock settled into his features. Sige? He tried to say the name but it came out in a sort of wheeze, making him put a hand over his chest to draw in some air. And as the shock began to lift, his grin returned full force, his eyes every bit as bright as his fawn's, though entirely more devious.

"Sige!" he finally managed to cry out, the thrill up his spine making his feet move forward and towards the ocean-eyed male. Pocketing the apple, he met Sige halfway and had to refrain from taking the other's face between his hands and giving him a kiss on the spot; they were in public, now, and had a lot of attention on them due to the fawns that were gallavating at their sides. "I knew I'd see you again, but with the same addition as I? I had not dreamed to be so lucky." Garrett shifted his weight on his feet before curling his gloved fingers into his own dark jacket's collar, very obviously having to try to keep his hands to himself. "You look even better than I remember," he commented, the flirting already beginning to lay into his words, "I hope you're doing just as well?"

He smiled, then, his scarred lips curved upwards in genuine pleasure. Garrett silently looked at the other for a long moment before adding, "I'm very happy to see you again, Sige."

His greeting was rather late, the man far too surprised-- pleasantly at that-- upon seeing the man and a young fawn just like his. What were the chances of that happening? The man never really believed in fateful meetings but this seemed to be one out of the storybooks. Suddenly he thought himself so very lucky for the first time in his life as he laid eyes on the dark-haired male.

Arden was the very opposite of his guardian as he darted off and bounced towards his immediate new friend. He was rather surprised at the sudden touch to his nose but welcomed it all the same, opening his mouth to taste at the apple in between the others mouth, letting out an excited sound. The energetic deer pressed his nose against the others, not leaving any room for personal space at all and quite happy the other seemed to not mind as well. The young fawn bit at the sweet apple, chewed a little and rubbed its nose at the other male in affectionate thanks.

"Garrett," he said the name in a quiet daze, giving him a small smile as he bowed his head in greeting. And goodness the man looked even better up close. "You look--wonderful. That outfit suits you very well." he said off the bat before anything else, still admiring the other man from top to bottom. "I say I'm the lucky one," he says with a little gleam in his eye before turning his head to the two playful deer that already seemed to be bonding with each other so easily. "Seems like they get along well," he says with a little sigh, turning back to Garrett. "Yes, you have one of the deer. Rather strange, this situation, isn't it..." he drifts off rather seriously, still having a hard time believing that he had the deer, and now he had met Garrett again in the same situation as he no less. "Ah----" he bowed his head slightly at the compliment, shaking his head. "And again may I say that you look absolutely dashing? Is it for the celebrations today?" he asked curiously, blue-green eyes drifting off again to his face and down to his legs. Because as hard as Sige may try not to check Garrett out, when he flashed that grin---it was near impossible to resist.

"I'm great. Meeting you again is worth celebrating over, how are you---" he started before Arden bumped his leg in attention, gaining the focus of his guardian for one second before the fawn brushed his head against Aravel once again. He laughed briefly, shaking his head. "Arden is very---overzealous." he said as he motioned towards the rich brown fawn. He was very curious of Garrett's circumstances with his deer, wanting to know if he was the same as he yet at the same time he desperately wanted to know how the other male was and to grab this chance to get to know him more since he had believed that their first meeting was to be their last and that he absolutely blew his chance with him.

The touch of noses was met with a happy little twist of his head, the fawn's exuberance coming into play and making him fairly unaware of anyone outside of the other deerling and the two humans they called their own. With a part of the apple accepted, he tilted his head back to munch down the rest of it, licking his muzzle and Arden's to clean them of the lingering apple juice. His enthusiasm fast got the best of him and in a clumsy manner, he bounded in place and then to the side, wanting to play.

It was clear that Sige's compliment was taken well, the mercenary standing just a little straighter, lifting his bearded chin as his fingers smoothed his collar. "Ah, this old thing?" he responded, green eyes flicking over the obviously not-old garments. "You're too kind. Personally -- " he leaned in a little to Sige as though sharing a joke, " -- I prefer less." The mirth in his expression paused while the other man addressed the deer, however; Garrett couldn't exactly be his normal, flirty, come-hither self when he had a baby deer to take care of. It was like showing too much PDA in front of a child; it was awkward and made him feel almost guilty about it.

As such, the compliments that Sige then began to adorn him with made him smile in a very nearly shy manner. Unable to resist, he released his collar and lightly smoothed his gloved fingers over the brunette's shoulder, smiling at him with both gratitude and no small sense of wonder. "I had a meeting earlier and...yes, I find it's always best to usher in the new year with your best foot forward. It sets the standard for what to expect--"

His attention swiveled back to the deer as Arden made his presence known, a more tender smile touching his lips as he watched the two deer interact. Lightly tugging at his bottoms, he pushed the tails of his coat back and kneeled, putting himself at eye level with the Guardians. His hand extended to trace down the length of Aravel's back, lightly patting the fawn's hindquarters. The gesture seemed to calm the excitable creature a little, large ears upturned and facing him, though his green eyes rested on the other fawn he was less familiar with. Holding out his free gloved hand for Arden to sniff if he wanted, he responded to Sige, "He's beautiful. Arden, is it? Hello, little love, I'm Garrett." With his hand still against his own fawn's dappled hindquarters, he gave it another pat. "This is Aravel. I also call him Trouble, but he responds to just about anything."

The sound of the fawn's name drew the deer back to his Chosen, pressing his wet, velvet nose against Garrett's high cheekbone. The mercenary laughed, rubbing his hand between the deer's ears. "Ara, meet Arden and Sige; your new friend and hopefully my future companion." The dark-haired man glanced up to Sige, a playfully small smile on his features. "If I might be so lucky."

Surprisingly, Aravel's continued affection made the little fawn stare curiously with a wide, interested gaze. Slipping out a tongue at the remainder of juice on his muzzle before pressing his head on the other bucks neck in thanks for the sweet snack. He let out a rather excited sound when he saw that the other shared his enthusiasm for this meeting, trotting around his new friend and touching the crown of his head to Aravel's. If it weren't for his chosen and this new--arrival, he would have taken of with the other immediately to play.

Sige watched the man's actions, from the way his fingertips touched the crisp collar, to which his eyes lingered on his neck and to the way his smilechanged on his scarred lips. A subtle change but he saw it. "Ah," he laughed and then cleared his throat at that come back, a mixture of humility, embarrassment and giddy happiness in his chest. "Less or not--- Feasting my eyes on you is always a pleasure. Even though our meetings thus far have been attributed to very fortunate chance on my part." He set his eyes on Arden and Aravel for a brief moment, raising his brows at how they seemed to get along so swimmingly, letting out a small chuckle and shake of head at their childish and playful affections with one another.

"A meeting?" he repeats curiously, shrugging his shoulders. "As I expected, you are a very desirable man---" Sige commented innocently, eyes darting at the hand on his shoulder and into those brilliant warm greens. There was a surge of warmth on his face at this moment before he followed where Garrett's attentions had gone. "Arden...come on, leave me some of the attention.." he said with a soft sigh though he was again amused by the three interacting, finding it quite sweet.

"Yes, Arden. And you have to be careful, he might somehow convince Aravel to run off somewhere with him." Arden's golden eyes shifted back to Sige as if looking up at him innocently and trying to convince him that he had nothing to worry about. And truthfully the fawn was deeply enjoying his newfound company right here, flashing his bright eyes to the dark-haired human as he touched his nose to the hand offered to him briefly in acknowledgement. "Pleasure to meet you, Aravel. And I'm sure Arden has already made himself known to you." he smiled at the dappled fawn, bowing his head in polite introduction.

Yet once again Sige's gaze and attention went to Garrett, looking at him in quiet wonder and unable to comprehend if that was exactly what he heard and he wasn't sure how exactly to react to that. "I'd be your companion whenever you want--on a whim, planned, you name it---" With that he knelt beside Garrett, his golden and copper fawn approaching him, still excited from the prospect of a new friend, rubbing at Sige's shoulder as he stroked Arden's long neck. "Yes, yes, you will have your fun," he whispered to him with a small smile.

"So, Garrett. Are you here to enjoy the festivities? ---More meetings? Perhaps--taking a break?" With all his heart, body and soul, Sige desperately wanted to ask if the man was free for the day. He wasn't exactly a smooth talker and he knew that. Goodness, he never really asked anyone out. "Besides, how often do I bump into someone such as you..." he mumbled weakly to himself, his eyes lowering for a brief second before his eyes locked with Garrett's again.

Unlike Arden, Aravel was ready to take off, irregardless of if his Chosen was there not. With the other's compliance, however, the dappled fawn was content to stay put, touching their heads and nosing with contentment. He'd met Serkan only a few days previous and to make another friend so soon was a thrill; his hooves could scarcely stay on the ground for all his enthusiasm, in a state of perpetual motion with either scurrying around the earthen-toned male or bounding around him with great leaps.

"Chance, is it?" Garrett inquired politely, smiling to himself as he watched the two fawns play. "Lucky for the both of us, then -- though yes, work often beckons and there's little I can do but heed the call." The next part made him a little more reserved, as he could really only say so much in public - out loud, anyway. As luck would have it, Sige kneeled next to him and the mercenary could not help but lean against the man's arm a bit. The cover of the dark sky and the less than perfect lighting made him confident enough to get away with it. "Desire is subjective, especially if the attention isn't from the one I desire to be called after." A quick smile flashed across his scarred lips, eyes practically glowing like his Guardian's. "And worry not about my attention, Sige; it is yours when you do as much as look in my direction."

With his shoulder against Sige's, he let his attention trace back to the fawns, extending one gloved hand to gently rub against Arden's chest as Aravel pranced behind him like an overzealous puppet. "I worry it may be the other way around. Aravel has a penchant for wanting to explore, which has made working a bit trying." Garrett chuckled, indicating he was hardly upset by the fact and mostly at ease with his new position of responsibility. For his part, Aravel ceased his joyous bouncing when the other Chosen said his name, ears perked upwards and staring at the man with his glowing eyes. Fearless, he slid in up against Arden and pressed his own head against the hand that stroked the golden fur, a childish askance for attention as well. Since Sige seemed more open to showering affection upon himself and his new friend, Aravel was quite ready to play up the part of ham and take it.

The mercenary laughed again, leaning just a breadth closer to the ocean-eyed male, close enough that it seemed they were sharing a private joke. "It is our second meeting," he teased Sige with a crooked grin, "so I'm not a stranger to you anymore, right?" Garrett was lewd to a shameless degree in his reference to their first meeting, chuckling again with good humor. His free hand stole a brief brush of covered digits against the other's elbow. "I'm here to let Aravel get some air and get more used to crowds. He's a delightful handful when it's myself and few others but..." His smile faded just a little around the edges. "He's going to grow, in time, and I need us both to be prepared for our lives being under scrutiny when he's too large to be 'cute' anymore." The man's lips curved upwards in a brief set of dimples. "But if you're asking to stay the night--"

He faltered, then, that small smile shared and the bashful turn of those brilliant eyes. Garrett felt his stomach fairly explode with butterflies and a darker want, though he already knew to keep that under wraps from the man's previous rejection of his proposition. Clearing his throat a little, he continued in an almost demure tone, "--if you want company, Ara and I would be honored to spend this fortuitous turn of year with you and yours." And he smiled, then, an honest and non-suggestive expression for a change.

Chance was a word that Sige probably rarely used in his life, never attributing things to 'good fortune' or a gift from the gods and supernatural entities. Yet somehow at the brief moment of meeting the other's brilliant green eyes, it had made him believe that this was a bright spot in his life. "Ah I understand the call of work all too well," he murmured thoughtfully, eyes focused upon the earthy fawn. "It is unavoidable that---" and then he pauses with the mere lean to his arm, lost for words just like that.

The public 'affection' this way didn't really seem to bother him. After all, they were--merely friends at this moment with two over-energetic fawns in their possession--even though Sige wished for so much more. The golden fawn somehow noticed his chosen's troubled expression, reacting by letting out a curious sound and rubbing gently against his hand. Sige chuckled as he realized this, giving his guardian a small smile in reassurance. "Arden is rather a handful. I'm surprised he hasn't ran away, honestly. Perhaps he listened to me for once." he said with an amused tone, chuckling softly when Aravel came closer and he lifted his hand to stroke the darker fur.

The whisper to his ear was met with wide-eyes, momentarily mute and unable to speak at that statement because he knew what Garrett had meant and so badly wanted to reciprocate that interest. Yet Sige was not one to give in to his selfish and wanting desires--even though the male was making him do the single most trying thing in his life : to not carry him against his body and take him all to himself, completely and carnal in the nearest alley. The thought of it made Sige's fingers curl up into a ball, retreating his hands from the animals to rest on his knee. "You are not a stranger to me, Garrett--- that's for sure." he managed to say as he moved his hand to touch briefly on the dark-haired man's gloved fingers. "You--you are free to call upon me anytime you would want." Sige continued rather boldly, immediately feeling a slight flush to his cheeks at his own words, clearing his throat to regain his composure as he tried to hold the man's bright eyes. "And--ah I agree, I'm not very sure how Arden would take to my--company with the merchants. But we are in quite the same situation, again, don't hesitate to call on me if you wish." He says this gently and with a determined stare, genuinely offering himself and his trust to the other man.

The words Garrett said made his head bow in a shy smile once again, it seemed that he couldn't really control his slight shyness with the man. But as the brunette accepted his proposal, immediately his face brightened. With a lopsided grin he nodded his head and finally stood up from his position. "I would love your company very much. No matter how long or short you want to give your company to someone like me. I cannot think of a better way to welcome a new year than with a handsome and charming man like yourself." he said in happy spirits, offering his hand to Garrett. "And I am very sure Arden would love to spend it with his new friend as well." he briefly glanced at Arden who was now jumping around Aravel in turn.

It was intoxicating, the way the broker reacted to him; the small, but generously offered touches and affections were not lost on Sige, which utterly delighted the mercenary. The way the brunette chose to show what was on his mind - mostly in the severity of his gaze - was limited, but Garrett was adoring seeing the scope of thought that flit behind those ocean-green eyes. When the fawns distracted Sige from Garrett's little web of flirtatious play, he could do little more than chuckle, extending his hand to rub behind Arden's ear once Aravel stole the brunette's attention. Of course, it was another fabulous reason to lean more so against the other. "Perhaps they're both just wild enough to have met their match. Or perhaps they've found what they're always running off to find..."

He missed the speechless staring, so momentarily absorbed in the fawns as he was, and it was likely for the best or he would have kept on Sige until the man gave in to what he was so quietly coveting. The light words and brief touch - one Sige initiated, no less! - drew Garrett's attention as effectively as though his face had been grabbed and forcefully turned. "If I didn't know better," he remarked with a crooked smile and an arch of a dark brow, "I'd say you were asking for trouble." Letting a grin curve his scarred lips, he had to look away from the man's earnest face when his offer was given. Sige had no idea what type of dangerous territory he was stepping into with such open words! Garrett was drawn out of his perverse musings by Aravel's green eyes suddenly filling his field of vision, making his head jerk back and a short, surprised laugh escape him. Rubbing the fawn's nose, he remarked idly, "I hope you never understand anything you just saw in my thoughts, Ara."

The warm words washed over him, making him shiver subtly as his eyes returned to Sige's honest ones. Taking the offered hand, he pulled himself up into a proper standing position with the merchant's help, holding onto the hand just a little longer than was polite before again fussing over his own jacket. "Then it is our honor for your company to be kept," Garrett offered with one of his lop-sided, mega-watt smiles. "What shall we do first, hm? For as much as I'd enjoy to simply stare at you and sigh in wistful longing for the remainder of the evening, I'm not entirely certain that's suitable for public." The mercenary laughed, a rich and open sound. "That and we do have the new companions to keep in mind. Perhaps a stroll down the main street that leads to the grass knoll yonder, so they might play more comfortably?" Yes, the more private, out-of-the-limelight knoll was exactly where Garrett wanted to go, given his company.

Aravel was all too happy to engage Arden in a game of play, bounding behind the earthen male and tossing his head back joyously. He chanced a few encouraging headbutt's to his new friend's flank, sending a dazzling array of colors and contrasting scenery to his Chosen, unaware and unmindful if he was overwhelming the mercenary. If he understood Garrett's words or simply felt the man's image painted of where they were to head off to, Aravel turned and gracelessly bounced in the general direction of the indicated area, spilling into the main street and not at all mindful of the attention he was garnering.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 29, 2012 2:01 pm

Until recently, the brunette's laughter was always rather restrained, pulled back and never quite open. But he easily laughed in good humor in Garrett's company, much like at this moment--open and nothing held back, sincere and welcoming. The very same qualities that was always present in the man's brilliant smile that he could not take his eyes off of. "I never really ask for trouble, Garrett. Yet somehow you make it sound like a very tempting thing indeed." he replied with a gentle smile that softened his sharp features, his knitted brows relaxing for once. Despite his polite and momentarily serene demeanor, he was still a man with infinite desires and it took every bit of self-restraint to not give in to this fiery desire who was inches away from him--especially with his very blunt way of expressing himself.

Sige took the mercenary's hand in his firmly and for as aware and conscious the merchant was of social standings and reputation, he held on to that feeling of that hand in his as long as he could. As Garrett straightened his jacket, Sige merely touched on the opening of his jacket and let his fingers trail down to its tail with one fast slide of hands. "Ah---er," and the other did it again! Catching him off guard with that terribly charming attitude and compliments that he would never ever get used to. His smile was infectious. He shook his head in an attempt to brush off the light flush that was on his cheeks. "Well I'm afraid that first option was my first choice-- yet that is more of a reward to me than you," he said half-jokingly, though knowing that he would do more than stare at Garrett if that ever happened. "I am sure our new companions shall enjoy that walk," Golden eyes wandered eagerly from the light greens of the other man and back to his guardian, the movement exciting him. "And--I shall enjoy that private walk with you greatly." he said with a heavy gaze, lifting a hand to touch the others back briefly, his subtle actions betraying himself.

"I'm not one for--grand celebrations anyway." he said as he retreated his hand abruptly. And just like that he snapped back to the reality, the rush of noise and chatter, the crowds of busy people on the streets as they prepare for the joyous evening. The complete opposite of his guardian, the chosen loved the busy streets, the smells and the sounds of the place, wide, enthusiastic eyes darting from his new playmate to the two guardians. Despite himself, Sige picked up on this, admittedly he was very much excited as well for the day with such a handsome gentleman. Laughing when Arden turned to the ashen deer, he watched them both dart off and at the moment not concerned all that much, knowing that the male was in good hands with his own kind.

"Shall we?" Again a hand lifted up to ghost on Garrett's arm, tilting his head towards where their two other companions had a headstart on.

"Of course you ask for trouble; look at that smile, Sige! You practically summoned me." And to that, Garrett grinned, poking fun both at the brunette at his side and himself. The gentle touch to his back was not lost on him, and almost reflexively, his fingers reached for the broker. He caught himself, however, and instead turned it into a gesture of adjusting his sleeve. The man's slightly pinched expression was really the only indication that he was displeased with himself for being so physically forward when he was sincerely trying not to for a change. But Sige's words touched him, and almost immediately he was smiling again, gaze resting on the embodiment of his desire. "You really need to stop putting yourself down, my friend," he remarked softly, voice almost lost in the festival-warmed air, "it makes me want to prove you wrong." And that was a danger, public or not.

His free hand crossed his chest to briefly touch against the fingers that teased along the side of his arm, giving him the most delicious fluttery feeling in his chest. Sige was responding to him -- the night might end well for him after all! "I enjoy the celebrations intensely: the colors, the smells, the life that is breathed into these dirty streets, it's wondrously unifying. However.." Garrett returned his hands politely to his sides, even as his fingers curled over the hem of one of his pockets to keep there, "I find your company far more enthralling. Let's be on our way, then."

And quite merry to lead the way, Aravel continued to send explosions of bright golds and intense rushes of joy to his Chosen, which was likely what was setting Garrett off to act a little more impulsively than usual. The fawn bounded between festival-goers without a second of consideration for any but his playmate, tossing his head this way and that to make sure his friend could see and follow him easily enough. He was still rather clumsy and found himself smacking his hindquarters into a startled peddler and bumping into a stand that wobbled precariously in protest, but he was hard to slow down with such obstacles. Aravel turned in a complete circle in his jumping antics, facing Arden and putting his dappled hindquarters into the air, tail flicking around in anticipation.

He could not help but bow his head in shy amusement at the brunette's charming words, eyes giving Garrett a sidelong glance of admiration. And even more he felt that immediate sense of excitement as Garrett's fingers met at his covered arm, sending chills down his arm easily. Sige gave him a small smile as he spoke of the celebrations, it was fitting. The other man was lively, gorgeous and had an aura about him that attracted lingering stares and greetings. He would have fit very well in such celebrations. "You are a man who could make any situation enjoyable." And oh the situations he would love to get into with Garrett.

Sige was very thankful as Garrett decided to take a more isolated path. Of course he wanted the other to enjoy the celebrations yet selfishly he wanted his time with him to be much more private this time, not really appreciating the looks that others would give them both as well as their two deer. "Alright." he quietly agreed, following at the heels of the two guardians in a semi-leisurely pace.

Arden on the other hand could not keep still, so filled with energy as his playmate seemed to be in the same mindset as he. Which was to experience everything. He trailed behind the other at first though, watching that dappled bottom and flicking his tail as he tried to catch up, managing to hit Aravel playfully with his forehead. The earthy fawn was at least slightly less clumsy than the other, managing to avoid some huge obstacles in his way as his green-eyed chosen looked at him with mute horror, hoping that he didn't hit anything major. On a normal day, Sige would have chased after him yet this time Arden's chosen was more focused on attempting to charm and to get to know the finely dressed male beside him.

"So, how has it been with you and your Aravel?" he started, realizing he was experiencing a fluttering feeling in his stomach as he walked with the other. It had been a long time he had actually taken a walk with anyone this way. And certainly his first time walking with one like Garrett.

Usually, Garrett would thrive in being awash in the life that teemed through the festival, basking in the attention given and taken alike with those who just wanted a good time. He had his doubts that there was any party or come-hither stare that could pull his attention from the man at his side, casting such shy glances and warm smiles at him. Green eyes were held entirely by Sige, and not even the golden comet of joy Aravel kept dropping on his consciousness could pull him out of his smitten gaze. Why did one of the ones to deny him have to be so damn sweet? It was unfair!

The question made him draw in a slow, thoughtful breath, lightly biting his bottom lip where his car split the soft skin. "It's been...trying," he started slowly, picking out the trials and tribulations amongst the excitement and companionship. "Working is a bit hard, especially when work is messy. There's things I don't want him to see, even if he probably is a stone's throw smarter than most people." Garrett watched the two fawns frolicking, smiling crookedly to himself. "But there's an inexplicable...thrill every day, seeing each other. Feeling his presence the way we do, knowing -- knowing that I'm not going through the day alone." It was a bit sappier than he'd intended to be, but there was a truth to it; he thrived on company, and now he had a constant companion.

Resting his gaze upon the brunette at his side, he offered an almost tender smile, though if it was to the subject at hand or Sige himself, he made no indication. "What of you and Arden? I imagine your long jobs will be tiresome on the poor lad." He didn't know exactly what Sige's profession entailed, but any traveling merchant with that man's concerns of trust and that delightful scar certainly didn't dabble in the safe routes.

In all his zest, Aravel was not unaware that he was being spoken of - he could tell by the unfiltered feelings that he was receiving from his Chosen - but because it felt positive and warm, he was content to spend all his energies on his playmate. Tossing his head when he was headbutted in the hindquarters, the dappled male took off like a shot, all gangly legs in near-knots in his effort of failed grace and poise. The slats of light brimmed over his speckled hide as he clumsily galloped, arching in a giant horse shoe of a shape to slingshot back towards the Chosen. Just as quickly, he skidded to a stop before colliding with Sige and took back off down the direction he'd originally gone with Arden, his tail fully fluffed out and his ears flattened against his skull with playful abandon.

As for Sige, this kind of lively gathering in the streets, the flood of colours and aroma in every corner would have made him want to watch the celebrations from afar. Yet for the first time he felt a reason to celebrate, a reason to walk along the roads and see what was in store in every corner. And he certainly knew it was because of this excitement--that he tried to mostly keep inside-- to spend time with this charming mercenary. It had been only through unexpected fortunate events that they had met each other yet the trader considered this man someone he wanted to know much, much more. And with that thought he felt another pang of regret in their first meeting--something that would probably never come to pass again-- yet the feeling of the man like this, close to him and having the privilege to see his smile made him more than content for this moment.

He immediately expressed concern at the words of the other, yet a small smile taking over his lips once again as Garrett continued on. "I understand, It isn't work if it's messy, regrettably." he agreed, blue-green eyes flitting over to watch the brunette's face as much as he could as they walked. That was the exact same way the male felt about Arden. He was always one to be alone, both through practical means and in his way of life that he had set for himself yet for him, Arden's company was never unwanted. "You two are wonderful company, I can only imagine what it's like to always be blessed with both your presences."

"Ah, Arden is..." and for a moment the guardian's golden eyes flit back to Sige, aware yet too excited with his new companion to do more than that, chasing after the dappled male as he trotted everywhere, the earthy deer trying to catch up cheerfully as he made little sounds of joy whenever he was close to Aravel. "--energetic," he laughed, eyeing him with an amused stare. "Truthfully... I'm not one for companions such as he, yet he is always wonderful to have around. Where he hides all his energy, I wish I knew. Although... I do always worry for him when I do my--dealings." he finished with a brief glance to Garrett as they turned the corner, finally leading away from the main road.

With this, there was more space to move, though inwardly Sige cursed that, because to him it meant more polite space between he and Garrett. And it was no secret to himself that he wanted the other man as close as possible. "It's a good break for us both, then. This celebration." his eyes slowly made its way to look at Garrett once again but this time it stayed on the darker male for a longer time, feeling more relaxed now that it was quieter. "There is much to celebrate for, and it looks like my new year will off to be a perfect start." He said more boldly before bowing his head yet again in a small smile.

A faint bit of laughter chased after Sige's words, a dark brow arching with dangerous intrigue as his green eyes turned over the man's earnest face. "Why imagine? My offer still stands, you know." As the ebb and flow of sound and lights softened into comforting shadows and dim lit paths out of the celebration, Garrett felt emboldened enough to curve his arm between Sige's elbow and side, resting his hand on the inner part of the covered bicep, his other hand joining suit. "I'm no less interested in you company, my friend -- if anything, knowing you has made me doubly so."

Idly drawing his fingers over Sige's sleeve, he watched the two fawn play, smiling a little as Aravel bolted towards the small island of grass and trees that he'd sent an image of before, the joy that the Guardian sent back to him making him feel giddy again. "I don't know," he murmured, "I think with time, they'll be worrying over us ten-fold." Casting his smile to the brunette, he offered a friendly squeeze against the man's forearm before settling back in his arm-holding walk. "I know you'll be fine, both of you -- he's just the right amount of spunk to keep you on your toes and you are the grounded logic that he'll need to keep him safe."

If he noticed Sige's concern, he didn't show it, instead simply holding that close sort of formality with ease and comfort. The words, however, elicited a double-take, his eyes a touch wide at the smile and almost suggestion that the merchant offered. Garrett couldn't stop the grin that took him over, leaning in against Sige's shoulder teasingly. "I can think of a few ways to make it better, but one must be patient until the turn of the new year or it wont count."
