Mephistopheles vs Ragnor! [FIN]

Roll a Nine: Seashore Field: Split down the middle between land and sea, this field compliments land and water type pokemon. On the west end of the field is the land section: fine grained sand gradually slopes downward to meet the salt water on the east end of the battleground. A single palm tree wavers lightly in the breeze while shells are scattered in random places in and on the sand. In the water half of the battleground, the water laps at the sand much like at a real beach; when it retracts it leaves behind strands of seaweed and pieces of coral. Both are found under the water, offering shelter for water-types (or those who can hold their breath for great periods of times). This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to GROUND and WATER type attacks.

Lenore and Mephistopheles entered the arena side by side. Mephistopheles gave a small wave before floating down to the sandy field.

This was Ragnar's first trainer battle, and not because he was a young and inexperienced Pokemon. Nyla was still wary of using him in a friendly fight, because he wasn't the kind to hold back his power.

"Good luck!" She said to the other trainer while she sent out the Volcarona. Ragnar had a distinct arrogance about him as he glanced down at the Duskull. They couldn't even afford to get a real beach for this fight!

"Ok Ragnar, use Quiver Dance!" Nyla shouted out. Ragnar was dismayed that he wasn't going to start out with an actual attack, but showing off his power in with this elegant move would be just as good. He flew in slow and wide circles, his wings glowing with a strange power.

Mephistopheles was wary of the dancing, sending a shadow ball to interrupt it. As it launched, Mephistopheles bowed. "Greetings. My name is Mephistopheles. I shall be your opponent for this battle. Good luck."

"You're a polite one aren't you?" Ragnar scoffed. Despite his attitude, he really did appreciate manners in his opponent. He continued his spiral across the battlefield, the Quiver Dance bolstering his defenses to make up for the Shadow ball drop.

"I try to be, yes." replied the duskull, launching another shadow ball at the volcarona.

Lenore watched with a vacant expression as she pondered how much sand was on the beach. Did anyone ever count?

"It is a shame that we have to meet on the battlefield then." Ragnar had gotten tired of all his dancing, when it was quickly being negated by Mephisto's attacks. Even though his opponent was a lot more civil than he'd expected, he still had a battle to go through. He dove at the Duskull, a wave of heat washing over the land below him.

The heat berated the duskull, but he mostly ignored it. "Quite. It is indeed a shame that we must fight, but honor unto you." Mephistopheles raised his arms as a flurry of shadows rushed toward him, creating a shield.

Ragnar was impressed that the Duskull was still standing after that intense attack but admittedly Nyla did tell him to hold back. He would've struck again but Nyla's voice stopped him.

"Use Struggle bug!" She shouted, only to recieve a glare from Ragnar. "Come on, just do it."

He would've sorely like to Struggle bug her but that would be bad sport in front of other trainers. Surrounding himself with a red aura made with pent-up frustration, he launched himself at Mephisto.

Mephistopheles was knocked back a fair amount fro mthe attack. He regarded the volcarona with respect. "You are a worthy adversary. I have calculated the odds of victory in my favor for this bout and they are dismally low. I find no reason to continue this combat, lest it turn into a farce that would dishonor us both. Well met."

His eye glowed as darkness descended upon the field, shadows bursting forth from Mephistopheles. Under the cover of night, the duskull made his way back to Lenore. Lenore waved to the other trainer, and Mephistopheles bowed deeply to the volcarona. They turned and left as the light returned.

Ragnar was surprised by Mephisto's change of heart. But a forfeit was still a forfeit and the only thing to do was to accept it. Besides, like he said, the battle was going to turn into a farce. Especially when Nyla made him use *Struggle Bug*.

"Let us meet again off the battlefield." He said before they were both recalled into their Pokeballs. Nyla wondered what that was about but since the other trainer already left she couldn't really say anything about it.
