Danny tried to go over the instructions one more time in her head. She had to find someone who looked like the clothespin in her head. Then she had to put the pin on them. If she did, she was the winner. Okay, she could do this.
Who the jack looked like a clothespin though? It kind of had some of Yin's colors. Was it Yin?
Just by chance, a horseman that looked somewhat her pin. Lucky!
"PONY. I think I have to put this on you, so stay still okay?" Danny: master of subtlety.

Lan was minding her own business, contemplating how best to get the pin onto that student. It was supposed to be a game, and there was supposed to be a prize right? Staring at the photo she figured that she could maybe just ask the boil and then beat them down if they said no.
Her thoughts interrupted by some ghould, the horsewoman looked at her with a glare. Pin- what-?
Oh. Scowling she swat at the demoness, "I will allow no such thing to happen. I am not to be called PONY either. I an Lan, a pround member of the clan of conquest and you should know your place peasant."

"Oh. Well nice to meet you Lan, but you're still a pony! You have to stay still!" Danny whined. Why was she dodging? Were you not supposed to get pinned?
Hey wait, she was from conquest? That was neat. "Ooh I visited the conquest island. It was really pretty. People yelled at me a lot though ..." That could be because Danny was intent on watching ancient scrolls burn in one of their temples.
She jabbed once more for the lady's dress. How was it that a person could have so much fabric on them and Danny still couldn't pin it.

"WHAT? Don't- You even know how insulting you are being girl?" They looked the same age, but Lan was betting she was older. She was much prettier and perfect and such perfection took a few hundred years after all.
Her dress grabbed at Lan screeching in anger, yanking her robs out of the way. "Stop this at once! I command you to desist. How they even let you in my homeland- You're just- AUGH."
swatting at Danny, Lan hoped she would drive the ghoul off.

Unfortunately for Lan, Danny was quite used to being the less pretty, less perfect one. "I don't know what desist means!!" Danny cried, still grabbing at the ghoul's robes.
"Just stay still and I'll stop okay! You're making this really really really hard!!" Why couldn't ponies just listen and do what she said? Shikoba had been the same way, not accepting her fruit basket.

Lan was trying to slap the ghoul. She needed some sense and it seemed like this was going to be the way to go. "I means stop!" Black nails lashed out, trying to fend Danny off.
"I will not be pinned and you will stop this nonsense at once ghoul!"

"Noooo!" Danny whined. "Amrita told me to pin people, so I have to!!" Danny wouldn't dare disobey Amrita! She was the head of the yearbook staff. That meant she was important.

Lan felt like slapping someone. Both this Danny girl and this Amrita.
She would not be pinned. "No mean no, girl, so as I said. DESIST." She hissed, pushing her back before summoning her bow. "Or must I make matters into a more serious sort?"

Danny frowned as she was pushed back and a bow was pointed directly at her face. Okay even Danny knew something was wrong if there was a weapon in her face.
"N-No I'll stop ... it's just ... that's what Amrita told me to do ..." She frowned again, not really understanding why the horseman was so desperate to NOT be pinned. Was there some kind of penalty against being penalty?
Well she figured Lan would know, since she was resisting. "How come you wont let me put this on your clothes?" she asked, holding up her clothespin. "Is there a horrible consequence if you do?" Danny was already sitting up and ignoring the bow. All was forgiven in two seconds.

Did someone drop all the Amity students on their heads when they were scarelings? From the looks of it, yes, yes they did. The red head didn't seem ready to leave, and Lan was more or less avoiding the whole of the school. She'd been near once and hadn't liked it. It was just.. annoying. Still, her cousin didn't hate them so she was trying, trying very hard at that, not to hate them all as well.
It was harder than she'd anticipated.
"It might be a game but really? Calling me a pony and just.. trying to shove it on me. Have a bit of class! Or try to be more discreet about it. Had you caught me at the right time, there would have a been a chance I'd have never noticed."

"Class as in refinement. Etiquette. Not be covered in mud and... lords know what else. Grace and dignity. It's class dear girl, something that you could learn in a class and no, it does not involve clothespins." It better not, or else Halloween's definition of class was far different than her own.
Tossing her hair back, Lan dismissed her bow setting her hands to her hips. "Calling me a pony is like me calling you a fire kisser. It's insulting. Other might not think that way but overall, it's rude, and I do not enjoy it in the slightest."

"You talk funny," Danny said bluntly, "Kinda like the way Sparrow talks. Have you met him?" They'd get along splendidly!
Danny shoved the Lan-pin into her skull-pouch that hung loosely on her side. "Okay I'll stop calling you pony," she said, somewhat sullenly because it was a great nickname. Just to be sure, she asked, "Is horsie bad too?" Never hurt to check!
Well actually, in Danny's case, it might hurt.

She talked funny. Really now. Compared to who exactly? Bumpkins? Lan was very sure she only talked perfectly thank you. No need to be jealous of her refinement. You were just a halloweener after all. Nothing and no one. She was a conquest noble, the best of the best. If this Sparrow spoke like her, maybe he was better of than this ghoul.
"No, I have not many anyone named Sparrow. I have seen sparrows though I assume you mean an actual FEAR born than an avian of the human world." If she meant the bird... it wouldn't shock Lan that much. "And good. The less you call me a pony the better. Mare is what some might call a female horsewoman, but its rather informal, so I would not reccomend it." Part of Lan wanted to tell her that males were called geldings.
It was really tempting.

What in the jack was an avian? Seriously, Danny couldn't even interpret half of the things this ghoul talked about. At least she sounded nice doing it.
"Mare. Maaare. Mare mare," she said a few times to get the taste of the word on her mouth. She sat there contemplating it for a moment and then said, "Nah I like horsie better." Congratulations Lan, your name is now Mare.
Danny crossed her arms, rocking back and forth on each foot. "So you're sure you won't let me pin you?"
