Candace had returned from her mission late that night. She'd gone to the infirmary to get herself treated for her wounds, making damn sure that the rest of the teams they had found back in that small town had been attended to as well, before finally heading back to her room. She was exhausted physically and mentally. At least after realizing she'd lost two hunters Aria hadn't reprimanded her. She'd done her best. She'd tried. She'd tried so hard to find them. She'd tried so hard.

They just..disappeared.

She'd fallen asleep quickly despite her worries, basically passing out the moment she closed her eyes.

When she woke the next morning the first thing she'd seen had been the white coat hanging from the back of her door. Oh, Otto must be around. Yawning, she'd rolled over and tried to go back to sleep.

At least until she realized something.

That coat was very ruffly. She suddenly sat up and looked to the coat again.

It..it has Mist on it.

Candace threw the blanket off her and practically ran across the room, slowing to a stop as she approached the coat and just...reaching out a hand to touch it. It's real.. She traced her hand over the mist emblem along the back ruffle, eyes wide. It was purple, too. A brad new purple scarf was hanging over the back of her desk chair.

This..this was her coat.

She plucked it off the hook and held it out in front of her, eyes wide and jaw dropped. She'd done it. She'd...she'd gotten her promotion.

Oh my god..

Oooh! Look how pretty! Congratulations, my love! Put it on, I want to see it on you. Candace blinked a few times, slowly nodding. She unbuttoned the front of the coat and shrugged it on over her pajamas, turning to face her mirror and button the front of the coat up. Atropos purred. You look beautiful~. A pause. Candace had anticipated the day she'd be promoted she'd be jumping for joy. She'd be running up and down the halls cheering. Everyone would know the moment she was promoted.

She was quiet, just staring at herself with shock. She'd actually gotten the promotion...after failing Draven and Eli...after killing those people.

She rubbed her lips together, turning this way and that to get a good look at herself in the mirror.

Otto was in fact around, even if that wasn't his coat hanging from the door. The Death trainee also awake, laying on his stomach on the floor reading a comic book Bix had leant him. It was stupid. Lame. Total loser stuff. Too bad he was enjoying it. Did that make him a nerd? Oh well.

He remained poker faced as he flipped through the book, passing time until the next duty arose. But suddenly he heard movement, running across the floor and the shuffling of someone putting on a coat.
Otto looked up from his reading, his elbow leaning on the floor with his hand keeping his chin up.

"Woah.." He said after Candace had admired her new coat in the mirror. "Isn't that.." A Full Hunter's coat?

She heard Otto speak up and she looked around until she spotted him on the floor. Candace cracked a smile, her cheeks flushing warmly as she nodded and did a full turn. "Yeah! Yeah it...yeah..." She looked at herself in the mirror again. It was her coat.

Candace's smile grew, slipping her hands into the small pockets. Wait, there was something in one of them. She blinked, removing the pouch and reading the note. Aria..yes, she'd definitely stop by and see her.

The pouch was set down on her desk as she turned to Otto again. "What do you think~?"

Candace seemed really happy. It really was quite an accomplishment. She was no longer a trainee. She was a full blown hunter. Otto let go of the page he was holding onto and lifted his hand, giving the older hunter a thumbs up. "Lookin' good. Congrats." She deserved a compliment. She'd more than likely worked very hard to get where she was.

Otto on the other hand worked hard at nothing.

"Were ya a human guinea pig for the test or did your exam involve actual hunter work?" He assumed to be a real hunter you'd need to really prove yourself.

As he congratulated her she giggled, fidgeting with her coat some more. "Thank you~! I...haha, it's kinda funny. I always imagined that when I got this I'd be flipping my s**t, you know?" She turned again to look at the backside of the coat, smiling fondly. "Maybe when it actually kicks in mentally and I haven't just woke up I'll be doing that...I feel kind of..zen-like right now, you know?" She chuckled, doing one more spin before stepping away from the mirror. If she didn't do that she'd be staring at herself all day.

Candace gave Otto a somewhat wry smile at his question, ruffling her hair a little and nodding her head. "Actual hunter work. I filled in the role of a hunter for Aria and Caelius...it was a long night. I might have to go back to that location later though. Despite fulfilling our objective there's still a lot of...loose ends over there." She rubbed her lips together, shaking her head. Don't think about it.

Suddenly she paused, looking down at Otto and then at the rest of her room. She smiled, striding over to the window and pulling the curtains open. Candace then turned away from it, her hands on her hips. "Get up." She grinned. "Come on, come on. Up off the floor."

"Zen is good. If ya'll had been doin' flips ya mighta drop kicked my head on accident." Hey, it was a legitimate scenario, alright? Maybe her big accomplishment was too big to grasp right away.

Anything involving Caelius meant trouble in Otto's book. He didn't press the issue or ask Candace for details. Not because he didn't care. He didn't care, by the way. Just that it was probably not great news.

He blinked and stared up at her as she brightened the room, tilting his head at her command. Get up? Why? Guess he'd just have to do it. He huffed lightly and got himself to his feet, straightening out his shirt that had rided up from laying on his tummy. "What is it?"

The room was filled with the light from outside, save for where Candace stood in front of the window waiting for Otto to get up. She didn't even tap her foot impatiently. How nice of her.

Once he was up she stepped away from the window, walking in a slow circle around Otto while giving a thoughtful hum. "Your room is wrecked." She mused, rubbing at her chin. "Tell me, Otto," Candace was suddenly on the boy, draping her arms over his shoulders from behind and resting her head beside his. "Do you like this room?"

Otto felt like a gazelle separated from the herd. The lioness stalking round him and contemplating what part of him to snack on first. Just what was Candace up to? "Yeah it is. Thanks for remindin' me." His icy gaze tilted down as she draped over him from behind, her fluffy bedhead resting on his shoulder.

"Uh... it's nice. Clean n stuff. Guess I like it." Smelled like a girl but that wasn't really a bad thing at all. What was she getting at here?

Candace grinned, raising a hand to toy with Otto's hair and tilt her head against his. "Well, yes. I do make an effort to stay clean." She pouted her lips, looking around. This had been her room for a year. She'd told herself she wanted out of it.

...Yes, she still wanted out. She had no attachment to this room, only the things in it. The things could be moved.

"It's roomy. The wall is gone, giving you an extra room. How nice." She moved off Otto and stepped away to stand by the desk, opening a drawer and digging around a moment. When she found what she was looking for, Candace turned back to Otto with a smile. "Hold out your hand and close your eyes."

Which was more than Otto could say for his old room. Otto by nature was a slob. But he was also a 17 year old boy, so he had the excuse of hormones and being a boy. The only reason the other side of the room had not fallen victim to his disorder?
1 - It wasn't his room, so he made an effort not to make a mess.
2 - He didn't have any stuff anyway, so he had nothing to make a mess with.

Otto wasn't a complete idiot. At least not most of the time. He was starting to get where Candace was going with this. Either she was legit going to give him her room, or she was pretending she was just to tease him. If it was the latter he'd be pissed. His eyes drifted around the room while she toyed with his hair, the missing wall making two rooms into one big one. Trainees would normally not have the opportunity to have such a huge room. Imagine the drum set he could stick in here!

Candace moved away, Otto watching like a hawk. What was she getting? Why was she hiding it? His head and body leaned one way and another to try and see what she was doing from where he stood, until she turned around. He didn't abide straight away, giving her a suspicious look. After a moment he relented, holding out his hand and closing his eyes.

She waited for Otto to comply before stepping forward, gently taking his hand and turning it palm up. She placed the key for her room in his hand and closed his fist around it, leaning forward a moment to leave a light kiss against his lips. Candace pulled away with a grin, playfully tapping the underside of his chin. "You can open them again."

Sure enough without even having to look, the feeling of a key being pressed into his palm answered his question. What he didn't expect was the kiss. It was light and pretty damn innocent but it still took him by surprise.

He opened his eyes once given the go ahead, looking at her curiously. "Was that a prize for good behavior or sumthin'?" He joked despite his expression. He looked down into his hand, the key sitting there, now his.

Candace shrugged, playing with the end of her sleeve a bit with a fond smile. This coat was really growing on her. "Something like that. Kisses like that really aren't a big deal, you'd know if I was rewarding you for good behavior." She winked, stepping away to open her wardrobe. She stood before it, looking at how cramped her clothes were in the tiny closet.

Need more closet space.

An outfit was picked out, humming cheerfully as she placed a pair of shoes beside her feet. "Everything the light touches, dear Otto, is yours~." A pause. "Except..you know...my clothes and shoes and stuff. I'm going to move upstairs though. Bigger rooms, Hunter rooms. Ohhh maybe I can live near Clarice now.." Candace squealed, hopping on her toes. The excitement was finally settling in.

"I'll even help you fill this room after I move out~! Since you lost so much, after all."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 18, 2012 1:43 pm

Otto smirked at her correction. He'd heard things about her, sure, but the boy was not in the interest of believing rumours. Candace just seemed like the promiscuous sort. He could dig it.

The blond stuffed the key into his wallet before putting it back in his pocket, curiously overseeing what his former room mate was up to. The quote almost flew over his head, getting it only a moment or so after the fact. It wasn't Africa, but it'd do. He could be jealous of Candace and her upgrade, but he knew she deserved it. Besides, his room now WAS big. Huge. Then again as a hunter or trainee, not a lot of time was spent in rooms anyway.

"Thanks.. I still owe ya for letting me crash here. I'll help you move stuff iffn' ya need it." He responded, keeping his hands stuffed in his pockets.

The coat was removed and hung carefully on the door of her closet, shamelessly stripping out of her pajamas. If Otto didn't want to see it he could damn well turn around; Candace didn't feel like leaving the room to change. Deal with it. Besides, she was quick about it anyway. When she stepped away from the closet she was wearing jeans, a pink top with a decorated collar and was slipping her feet into a pair of pink high-heel pumps.

The coat and her scarf were grabbed and put back on, sighing happily and grabbing her brush to fix her hair in the mirror. "That'd be great, actually." She grinned at Otto, grabbing her make up kit and humming cheerfully as she went about prettying herself up. "..You just want me out of here quickly." Candace teased with a smirk, looking herself over one more time before putting everything away.

"I haven't picked a room yet so it'll still be a few days. Hopefully there're some that are free..." She stepped over and playfully tapped his nose. "Gonna miss me, Otto dear?"
