Tasuki had separated himself from his family. Not hard to do considering he comes from a littler of eight and his parents had a bunch of rambunctious cubs on their paws. Tasuki, however, was probably the most rambunctious of them all. He was quick to get a rise out of, quick to pick a fight. That's one of the reasons he had to leave.

That, and his family was just too crowded for their own good. Nothing good was going to come from how he interacted with his siblings. Yeah, he loved them, but dang it, it was just too overwhelming!

Brown eyes scanned the area he had wandered into, a small rat in his mouth that he'd managed to catch for a snack. It wasn't exactly a meal, but he'd caught it himself and it would keep him from going starving. He was proud that he was able to hunt by himself. Still, he was quite a sight. He was dirty, fur matted, muddy and dusty. His blues weren't bright because he could care less about bathing until he found a good place to call home. Somewhere he would fit in and his fighting could be useful. His two brothers could take care of the family while he was gone.

One day, Tasuki did plan on coming back to them to visit. Let his parents know he was still alive. But for now, he felt it best to just wander.

User Image Today so happened to be one of those rare days that Meyrle so happened to be separated from Vahn for an uncomfortable amount of time. He had left to do some task or another, Meyrle wasn't sure of the details as Vahn could be so frustratingly vague sometimes. Still, she cared more for him than any other being on the savanna. Ever since she was gifted to the fallen prince she had not left his side nor betrayed his loyalty to any other being. Not even the gods commanded such respect from the lioness.

"Always leaving me behind..." Meyrle grumbled as she sat atop a wide flat rock protruding from a sea of golden grass. She really didn't hold anything against her Vahn, complaining just made the time go by, And since there was really no one about to complain to she was left to grumble to herself.

Even Zakumi was absent. That plucky little leopard was always about the place playing games with his older brother. Children's games really. That feline had an annoying and arrogant air about him. Well, not really, but Meyrle could never win any games against him and had resorted to personally belittling his character.

"hmn?" Her attention snapped to the sudden movement in the brush. Sapphire eyes narrowed on the source. The long blades of grass did well to hide something so small as a cub, but the bright sun of high-noon gave away any color that did not agree with the golden ocean.

Her tail begun to thump against the rock in slow three second intervals. "It won't do you any good to hide from -me-" She called aggressively to the unknown newcomer.

He hadn't been aware of another in this area. He'd hidden in the grass so he could eat his meal away from prying eyes, but it seemed instinct was wrong this time. When he heard her talk, a small growl came from him. She was being aggressive, so that meant he had to defend himself. Hissing, the cub lept from the grass and blinked, backing up quickly.

Holy crap, it was a lion! It was huge compared to him! Still, his fur bristled and he tried to puff up to make himself look bigger. "Why would I need to hide from the likes of you?" He asked, trying to use a cocksure tone with her. Tasuki was full of himself. From the day he was born he was hard to handle and had this confidence that just got him into so much trouble. It's what made him him, though.

"Look here, you girl! I was minding my own business, I suggest you do the same," his tone was still aggressive. In his mind he was a grown leopard with this deep, booming voice that was loud and as obnoxious as he was. In reality, he sounded kind of like a girl and was just a small little cub. To anyone else they might break down laughing, like his family did when he got this way with them. "So back off and get away from my food!"

As the grass moved Meyrle's entire frame tensed as alert ear docked against her skull. The rock he had been so contented upon groaned at the flexed claws prying gingerly into its surface. Whatever was crafty enough to hide so well under the grass must have been some kind of threat and Meyrle was ready to face it head on for the honor of-

The thought was suddenly dropped from her mind as he lay eyes upon the over inflated puff ball before her. His head barely stood above even the shortest part of the grass. Her ears perked forward as a catty grin rolled across her maw. As expected she released a very amused chuckle at the spectacle.

"Worked up over a little runt..." She mused to herself aloud before addressing the leopard. " Jeese kid, for a moment I thought I was in danger. What? Like I would want that thing for a meal? It looks more like a toy."

Her tail ceased its full flopping to settle against the rock leaving only the puffy tip to sway causally back and forth.

"Look, maybe if we were in your own little world, but you're on lord Vahn's land. So I suggest you skedaddle back to your mommy and daddy before you get hurt."

His chest puffed out again when he was called a little runt. And she thought he wouldn't hear it! Now he was just plain offended! A tiny growl escaped again as he moved closer to her, hissing. "I'm not a runt! Or a kid! I'm Tasuki! I'm a bandit, you know!" He said loudly, going so far as to get on his tippy toes so he would just appear taller. Damn it! He hated being short! Why wasn't he older? People would take him seriously if he was older.

"You looking for a fight?" He muttered, tail flicking back and forth, thumping against the grass.

When she mentioned his parents, his ears pinned back behind his head and he let out another growl before looking back and forth. "I can't. I don't know where they are. I don't wanna go back, anyway. So, can it, girl!" Those brown eyes looked back at her, but they weren't as angry as before. Now they were just kind of sad and lonely. "I've been wandering for a while. I don't know where they are anymore, anyway!"

Meyrle's eyes narrowed on the young cub. Lips pursed a bit in thought. Oh she could take him, she could look for a fight and totally show the kid how to address someone properly. A heavy puff of breath left her nostrils as they flared. However, the entire tough front was dropped when he claimed to have lost his parents.

"Ah-" her mouth opened to say something 'nice', but his sharp 'can it' caused her fur to bristle once more. "HEY! I -was- going to help you. But now, I think you should be all alone. Don't tell me to can it."

She rose to her paws quickly. Behind her tail whipped about as if it struggled to release itself.

"You've gotta rather big mouth for someone who needs help." She pointed out venomously.

Still, she couldn't help but have at least a small emotional string in her heart tugged by the little one's plight. She had lost her parents when she was about his age and was all the more reminded of it when she saw the loneliness in his eyes.

He frowned again and looked to the side, brows knitting. He knew he needed help, but he didn't want to admit it. That was a weakness and Tasuki knew that he couldn't be weak. If he was by himself he had to be strong! "...Look. I'm just tired and hungry. All I can catch lately is rats and they're not very filling when you're wandering, trying to find somewhere to call home, you know? So yeah.."

That was probably the closest thing Meyrle was getting to an apology from the small, prideful cub. Sighing heavily, he sat down on his haunches and dipped his head down low before grunting. "... So I'm just gonna rest here, eat my meal and then be on my way, I guess."

Meyrle drew a long breath. What an adorable pain in the tuckas this one was turning out to be. It would have been very wrong to let him sit there and die. Lord Vahn would be furious if anything knowing she had let a defenseless, if not bratty, cub wander about. Her expression notably softened when he sat back on his haunches to wait

"Well, Chakwe is what you found." She sighed, yet stubbornly retained a sharp tone, before she rose to her paws.

"A hunting party should be back soon.... and there are plenty in there that wouldn't mind such a little loud mouth cub like yourself around." That was as close as he could get to an apology, and an admittance to somewhat being able to tolerate him. "So, you can either follow me or sit there all day. I don't care."

He found the Chokwe? What is that even? His ears flicked in interest at the name and his head tilted to the side, watching the lioness carefully. She had softened a little, which meant that she really wasn't going to attack a cub. That was but a but stupid on her part. A cheetah cub had no chance against a fully grown lioness.

His tail thumped against the ground when she finished speaking and Tasuki let his brows knit together. Well, what should he do? Maybe he could live by himself there, in the Chokwe. Find his own den and rely on himself. But he wouldn't have to do as much work because the females would be bringing him food and checking on him. ...Which might get annoying. Argh! What to do? He was sick and tired of eating rats. Rats weren't very tasty or filling, but he didn't want a flock of females around him because he's alone and defenseless.

Sighing, his stomach won out with a loud rumble which caused Tasuki to flush in embarrassment. "Y-yeah!" He spoke loudly trying to cover up the rumble. "I guess I'll follow! I'll get a meal out of it, anyway!"

Meyrle stretched before rising to her feet as she waited an answer. What a conflicted little cub! How hard was it to accept help? It wasn't like she was going to attack him. Finally his answer came with teh sound of a gentle rumble from his belly.

Her ears twitched to the delicate sound hastily covered up by his agreement to follow. A good thing the hunting party should be back soon.

*humph* "Well of course you do. Lord Vahn wouldn't let a little-" She caught herself before saying 'brat' "Cub like yourself starve."

She heaved a long sigh. Meyrle had to admit, he had a certain charm about him. "Common, the hunting party should be back soon..."

Tasuki bristled at the word little. He wasn't that small, was he? With a growl, the leopard ran after the lioness and huffed. Fine, fine. Hurry him along. He was used to being rushed! Okay, that was a lie, but everything was usually fast paced with him. It did, however, take a lot out of him to keep up.
