It was a very hot, humid day to be a Pokemon, especially if you were one with a considerable amount of fur. The air practically dripped with humidity. Most took refuge indoors on these days, but for those who were unfortunately caught outside, there was always good old rivers and lakes.
"C'mon, Damien!" Alabaster cried as he approached the shores of Opal Lake. "It's only a few feet farther! We'll be cooled off in no time!"
Damien trudged forward with his beach towel over his head. The heat always seemed to make him angry and being angry was something that Damien didn't seem to be capable of in the first place. However, when he saw the glistening of the lake, he took off running, grinning like his usual self.
'Whoooooooooo!" He screamed as he splashed in the water. "I LOVE WATER! SO AWESOME! WHOOOO!"
Alabaster laughed and kicked off his sandals before darting into the lake himself.
"Wait for me!" He said as his dove in, splashing Damien with a wave of water. Then as both fox boys looked at each other, a loud splash fight was started.

Julie and Fluff had gotten her bodyguard, Bruce, to take them down close to Opal Lake. Since that was more in pokemon territory, he stayed mostly out of the way and let the pair head into the proper area on their own. Sure, they had an olympic sized swimming pool and air conditioning at home. But it was good for a young pokemon to get out and be by other pokemon and in nature! So here she had brought Fluff somewhere nature-y to learn and play and be content!
Fluff, for his part, was very excited. He was wearing a pair of shorts and clinging to the girl's arm as she walked down towards the water with their towels and a bag in her arms. Fluff was geting overheated outside, but he usually didn't suffer from this at home. But nature was nice! It was good to get to be both outside AND cool rather than choosing one over the other! Though with fur like his, he often had to make that choice.
As they neared the edge, Fluff rushed up and spotted the other two in the water. "Oh! Oh! Hello!!!" He called and bounced on his heels, waving.

Damien and Alabaster ceased their splashing and waved back at Julie and Fluff.
"Hi! Hi there!" Damien exclaimed. "Come on in! The water's great!"

Fluff laughed loudly and ran back before rushing back and bellyflopping on the water. "WHEE!" he laughed loudly and practically snuggled into the water, shivering some but adjusting quickly enough. This was SO MUCH better than being out in the sun.
Julie giggled at the three and set their stuff down by the edge, going over to sit down by it and put her ankles in.

Alabaster and Damien laughed at Fluff's bellyflop. They hadn't expected anyone else to join them on their swim today, but it was always good to have company!
"What's your name?" Alabaster asked. "We haven't seen you around before."

The boy looked between the two and flicked his tail in the water, the motion slowed. "I'm Fluffernutter, or just Fluff! I'm a sentret! I live with Julie a ways away! What are you? Do you live around here???" he asked, briefly pointing to Julie as he spoke.

"I'm a Zorua!" Damien exclaimed, then he motioned to Alabaster. "And he's a cute little Vulpix!"
Alabaster flushed and pouted at Damien.
"I'm not cute!" He protested before looking at Fluff. "Nice to meet you Fluff and Julie! I'm Alabaster and this lovable little ball of energy is Damien. We came her from the city, though I've lived in the forest most of my life. Damien was born and raised in the city though."
"Yep! The city is AWESOME!" Damien shouted, jumping around in the water. "Have you two ever been to the city?!"

"Sometimes! On tours! Julie lives in a mansion outside of the city though. Her parents don't want her getting into trouble." the sentret explained it almost conspiratorially. He was very happy to get to play like this and have friends. He splishsplashed around a bit as Julie got into the water.
"I've been to the city a few times. It's really nice." She looked over at Alabaster and swam over, looking close, "You ARE a vulpix! How neat!!! I like them."

Alabaster leaned back a bit as Julie looked closely at him. He wasn't sure how to take the interest, not knowing if it were a compliment or not. He mustered a smile although a little flustered.
"Uh, yeah." He said. "I-I guess we are kind of neat..." He glanced to his side, where Damien stood, and tried to nudge him a little with his elbow so he could express his anxieties.
However, the boisterous little Zorua boy was too busy splashing around with Fluff to notice Alabaster's discomfort.
"You life in a mansion!?" Damien squeaked. 'Wow! Do you eat a lot of fancy food? Like... Tiny sausage weenies wrapped in bread?! I love those. Hot dogs are my favorite food!"

"Sometimes! Those are SO NUMMY! And little cakes and things!" Fluff swished about excitedly as he spoke, splashing some.
Julie backed off a little on her own, noticing Alabaster seemed a bit nervous. "I'm sorry, I was just noticing since I've never met a Vulpix before. We're met a Scyther, a Bulbasaur, a Squirtle, a Ratata and a few other pokemon but no Vulpixes."

"Awesome!" Damien squealed. "What kind of cakes do you like to eat? I like Twinkies."
"No, it's okay!" Alabaster replied, blushing with a nervous laugh. "I've never been the object of attention before, especially from humans. But, if you haven't seen any other Vulpixes around, I'm a little worried about that. I lost my sister when before I became human, she was a Ninetales, and to know that you haven't seen many of us, it makes me nervous." He sighed. "I hope my sister's okay..."

"Uh uh.......strawberry short cakes!!!" Fluff squeaked happily, stars in his eyes practically.
"Well she could be around - I don't come out here that much. I'll keep an eye out for her though!" Julie assured him emphatically - it seemed the enthusiasm was matched between trainer and pokemon.
"Do you two have trainers?" Fluff asked, flopping on his back to float some.

"I hope so..." Alabaster replied. "I'm going to start looking for her soon. She'd probably be in the forest."
"Strawberries taste sour to me!" Damien stated, his nose crinkling a little. His eyes lit up at Fluff's question. "We have Justin!" He exclaimed. "And a bunch of other people who live with us in a big apartment in the city! He has wolf ears."
Alabaster smiled and chuckled.
"Yeah, but he's not really a "trainer" per say" He said. "We sort of popped up and he took us home. We've never had to battle or anything."

Fluff giggled, "Shortcake makes them sweet!" he nodded at the comment on trainers and floats over to snuggle up to Julie's arm, "Julie took Fluff home, very nice."
The blonde girl laughed and pat his head. "You guys should come to our gym when it's open! We're going to open one so pokemon can come and play and train without having to look for random battles or deal with human gyms not being suited for them."

"Wow! That sounds awesome!" Damien squealed, tugging on Alabaster's arm. "Wouldn't that be cool? We could learn more skills! Maybe we could even learn how to battle!"
Alabaster squeaked and shrunk at the thought of battling. He wasn't much for fights, he didn't like hurting others even for good reasons.
"Ah, well..." he mumbled. "I guess we could ask Justin..." He turned to Julie and smiled. "Sure! If you wouldn't mind us dropping by now and then. It'd be great to learn some new abilities."
