I've waited so long for you:an prp between [Ithil-Alu](Reoakee), [Lightning ](manga_artist303)
Glade:: Epheria Lakefront
Setting:: What seems to be a beautiful warm day, but storm clouds are gathering in the far distance.
PostPosted: Sat Jun 16, 2012 5:04 pm

The grass was so nice and soft. Ithil was just quietly enjoying relaxing in the shade of a large tree without a care in the world. She was lying with her belly up so she could rub in the grass with her back when she wanted to. Stretching out she opened one violet eye and looked up into the branches of the tree. Around the leaves she could see clouds dancing in the sky. Today was rather dull. So far no other gladiers had come by the lake Ithil was ok with that though. There was something about a nice quite lazy day every so often that made life great. Yawning loudly and for a long time she slowly let her eyelid close and began to dose quietly enjoying the sound of the wind rustling the branches overhead. It seemed a bit stronger than earlier, but Ithil wasn’t fully conscious enough to notice or care.

(short start is short, sorry brain fried.)

Lightning Pawn yawned as he trudged across the grass, trying to avoid others and find a quiet place to nap. However, it seemed everywhere he looked had at least three or four Gladiers talking or playing together. It was just too nice of a day...

'I wish it would...' His thought was cut off by a familiar sound in the air. Lightning's ears perked up as he looked around. He was suddenly a burst of motion, racing across the grass and shooting up a large tree. 'That sound... I swear I heard thunder in the distance.' He shifted from one side of the tree to the other, searching the skies from his high perch and listening for the muted boom of an approaching storm.

Almost stirring from her slumber Ithil was on the cusp of a pleasant dream. Somewhere off in the distance a drum sounded. It was an odd sound like thunder, but it wasn’t enough to rouse Ithil from her rest. She could almost taste the dream buffet in front of her.

Drooling a bit in her sleep she squirmed a bit her tail wagging happily. “oh so much food.” She smiled and half turned half rolled over. Her paws twitched on their own while she dreamed she was walking toward her food fantasy. She knew it was only a dream, but it was one of the best possible dreams to have in her mind. There was a drum/thunder sound off in the distance again. It was louder this time. She grimaced both in her dream and real life. If only someone would stop that noise she was about to indulge her gluttonous side.

Lightning Pawn grinned as the thunder sounded in his ears, his blue eyes lighting up at the sight of the approaching storm. He wasn't sure why, but he loved them. As he took another step forward, a cracking sound came from the branch he was on. 'Uh-oh.' He launched himself for the base of the tree, claws digging into the bark as the broken tree branch fell towards the ground. His eyes widened as he realized someone was on the ground underneath--and soon to be pelted by the branch he broke, with the way it was bounding off of the lower tree limbs. "Ah--!" He'd have to stop it himself; the other Gladier wouldn't be able to get out of the way in time, not while she was so happily dreaming.

He released the tree and dropped, hurtling past the branch with his larger mass. Lightning pushed off the tree trunk and swatted the branch away, only to land on the other Gladier's tail himself. Grunting and rolling to his feet, he backed away from the other Gladier and shook his head to clear it. 'I hate nice days,' he thought sourly. 'There's just too many people!'

Hearing more like a stick being bounced off the side of a tree repeatedly she felt the bliss of her dream slipping away. Grumping she tried to tune the noise out but it only got louder. Feeling a sudden and large pressure on her tail Ithil’s sleep sled off her like water as she sat straight up with a yelp and snarl. Something rolled away from her. She glared at a strange Gladier. Movement out of the corner of her eye she looked and noticed a branch. So what this one had fallen out of a tree and just had to land on her? What a rip off life had thrown her this time. Thunder boomed and her eyes went wide while all her fur bristled. She glanced around a bit freaked out. A storm had snuck up on her and she hadn’t noticed? “Well that explains my dream.” She shook her head and looked at the jerk that fell on her tail. She glared at him trying to figure out why he was anywhere near her. She thought she had picked a spot far enough away others wouldn’t bother her. Her voice was gruff even though she was being polite it wasn’t intentional it was just how her voice naturally was. “Hello. Fall or jump?” Mentally she was more tempted just to walk off, but she couldn’t help wanting to tease him since he caused her pain.

Lightning's ears flattened against his head as he was glared at, and then addressed. "... Fall," he mumbled, his gaze lowering to the ground. "Sorry." The crash of thunder caused his head to lift, ears perking up at the sound. His bright blue eyes fixed on the approaching storm, widening with awe. For a moment, at least, the other Gladier was forgotten; his mind was completely fixed on the oncoming storm, everything else melting away in its wake.

She snorted because clearly sorry solved everything. She was about to laugh at him and make a joke about him thinking he was a sica and really sucking at it when she noticed the male was staring at the approaching storm and nothing else. Her ire was forgotten and she moved she could look at his face. She wasn’t sure if he was scared or not. He was just staring into the storm not even seeming to notice as the wind was picking up around them. She waved a paw in front of his face concerned. “um.. hey. Look I'm sorry I was mad. My tail hurts... We should find some cover. I think everyone else with sense has left already.” Her gravelly voice seemed fitting with the earthy sent that permeated the air around them promising a long soaking storm.

He gave the other Gladier a sidelong look when she waved a paw in front of his face, clearly not amused by the gesture. His gaze had just reset itself on the storm when she spoke up. "... Then I guess I don't have sense," he replied without tearing his eyes from the ominous, black clouds above them. "I'll pass." Lightning didn't want to struggle to watch the storm from the forest or a cave. Not only would it be hard to see, those places would be packed with other Gladiers fleeing the storm.

“Clearly.” Ithil starred at the male wondering if the male had lost his mind. Stupid of him to just sit out in the glade waiting for a storm to come and soak him. She turned to walk away but she looked back a the male. She couldn’t just leave him to end up getting hurt by a storm even if her tail twinged as if to tell her otherwise. Still what could she do? She doubted she could convince the male to come with her and dragging him was out of the question. The fool was the same size as her, maybe a bit bigger. She looked at the fallen branch wanting to bite something and had a brilliant idea. She scurried over to the set of shrubs that where near the tree. She had been using them so that other gladiers wouldn’t see and bug her. She started to dig at the base making a space big enough for two. It took was while and she had to break some of the branches. The first wave of rain had started to fall while she worked. It wasn’t the full blown storm that would soon arrive, but it was a light shower that made her digging feel like it would soon turn into mud.

Lightning didn't respond to the comment. He was used to remarks like that; other Gladiers just didn't get it. He fixed his full attention on the storm, his eyes shining at the sight of lightning in the distance. The wind ruffled his fur as the rain began soaking it. He inhaled the familiar and calming scent of damp earth that came with the rain, closing his eyes and smiling. If the other Gladiers had seen him, they'd probably stare at him as if he'd grown another head. Then again, that wasn't new to him; apparently he was just strange across the board. Lightning Pawn liked storms. If they didn't like it, they could cower in the forest. As for him, he'd enjoy the turbulent weather up close. 'This is much better,' he thought happily. Nobody bothering him, no scorching sun heating up his dark fur, no high-pitched squeals of girls swooning over the popular males--the ones that didn't enjoy getting soaked by the rain in their spare time.

Working Ithil was soon coated in mud. She had made a space big enough for two since she realized there was no way she wanted to be crossing the glades in the middle of the thunderstorm. It would be tight quarters for the two but it was the best she could do on such short notice. Feeling a tickle on her face she rubbed her cheek smearing mud across it. Once she realized what she had done she felt stupid. Only and idiot would do what she did. If anyone else looked they would laugh at her. Ithil hated being laughed at. It always made her want to cry and she didn’t like doing that either. Shoving back the darker thoughts that were starting to come to her she moved around to the front of the jerk who was still staring at the storm. She saw the reflection of lighting in his far to blue eyes and flinched as the loud boom of thunder washed over them. Far far to close for comfort. Mustering up some fake courage she spoke to him, even though it sounded weak to her own ears she hoped she didn’t sound as frail to the male. “Hey stupid, the storm’s here. There’s some shelter in the bushes so you don’t get hurt if the wind picks up and starts throwing things.”

Lightning's fur bristled when he was called stupid and the obvious was stated, but as he tore his eyes away from the storm, his anger vanished. He stared at the other Gladier as she spoke. The mud on her face and paws stood out to him, as did the quivering tone of her voice. 'She's scared out of her wits,' his mind concluded. Then why was she sticking her neck out for him? It's not like he'd been nice to her or anything. If he'd been the jerk everyone thought he was, he would've just refused and ignored her. But he wasn't. Grumbling, he got to his feet. "Fine," he growled, trudging towards the bushes. He climbed into the shelter that had been made there, not commenting on the size. He looked up at the storm, though the bushes obscured his view. 'Well, I guess this is better than the forest.' At least here there weren't twenty Gladiers giving him strange looks or calling him names.

Surprised the male didn’t grumble she thanked the stars, moon and whatever else she could think of that he wasn’t a complete idiot. Even he must see the value of a shelter in the middle of a storm. Crawling into the shelter next to him a part of her felt bad that the mud on her fur got on to his since the space she made wasn’t big enough for two comfortably. “Sorry about your fur.” She looked at the male and noticed how intently he was starring through the bushes and into the storm. Why was he so intent on starring at the storm? Did it hold some sort of value for him? Quietly keeping vigil she thought to ask and was about to when another clap of thunder silenced her and made her wince. Instinctively she pressed closer to the male coating him with even more mud.

She must be nuts. Here she was in the middle of a storm in a bush with a male whose name she didn’t even know and all she could think about was feeling bad that she was getting him a bit dirty.

Lightning glanced down at the female as she joined him. 'Of course. Not everyone's as "crazy" as I am. Take shelter where you can, I guess.' To her apology about his fur, his vibrant blue eyes inspected his side. "It's fine," he replied, not giving the mud any further thought. "I'm used to it." The second remark came out automatically and unintentionally; that little truth, along with all of the other truths about himself, was usually kept safely within his mind. At least there no one could make fun of him about them.

He watched the storm again for a while, but then felt the other Gladier press closer to him. Lightning Pawn instinctively moved to shy away, but his other shoulder met the muddy wall of their shelter. He forced himself to relax as he looked down at his cringing companion. "Look... if you hate it that much, I'll walk you to the forest," he said after a minute, his gaze returning to the storm. "Just 'cause I'm an idiot who likes storms that likes braving it out here doesn't mean you have to too."

'Idiot,' his mind screamed at him. 'You can't find a better way to say it? She's terrified for crying out loud; you could be a lot nicer about it.' Well, this was just lovely--even his own mind was against him today.
