Malodore had maintained a swift but still walking pace as it left the Bogeymen HQ, but the closer it got to Amityville Academy the more it sped up. Plague doctors were not made for endurance or for speed, but at the moment Malodore didn't care. It was running in earnest once it passed through the campus gates, its gaze fixed on the monster dorms.

It had news. Urgent news.

Malodore didn't so much stop at Jericho's door as fall into it, all its muscles screaming in irritation at what it had made them do. "Jericho," it called out hoarsely, wearily smacking one fist against the door. "Jericho. Let me in-"

All of the sudden, Jericho heard a pounding at his door along with what sounded like a winded and very urgent Malodore. Oh no. Had something gone wrong somewhere? Quickly, the dragon jumped to his feet and rushed on over to answer it.

"Malodore! Is something wrong? What's going on?" he asked while urging the Plague doctor into his room.

Malodore stumbled forward as the door opened; it grabbed at Jericho's shoulders, while simultaneously kicking the door shut behind it. If Malodore had been a creature needing to breathe, it would have taken it quite some time to be able to speak. Sometimes being undead was very convenient.

"Jericho. She's alive. Riley is alive."

The news hit Jericho like a truck. And for a moment he just stood there and stared at Malodore to make sure that he heard correctly.

"She's.. she's really alive? Then.. then that scream! That.. that was really her! Oh Jack. She's alive! Wh..where is she? How is she?"

The dragon had taken a hold of the doctor's shoulders, staring into its eyes as questions flooded into his mind. The scream was one thing, but to actually hear confirmation? It was kind of overwhelming.

"Hey Jericho? I- Oh snaps, looks like somethings happening. Sorry. I'll...come back later..."

What was knocking?

Shehk had just opened the door right up to step in before pausing, looking between Malodore and Jericho with a sort of wide-eyed expression, before she tucked the paper she'd been carrying into her pocket, ears flattening back a bit.

Oh man, she'd just walked in on a secret love tryst or Jericho had just been told Mal would gold-plate his statue or something....

"She is, she really is," Malodore agreed, a lump rising in its throat again. "I saw her. Talked with her. She... I'm certain she was dead, killed by the Insanity, but they brought her back - one scientist. Sinclaire, she said her name was..."

It shook its head slowly, trying to make sense of things; while it had been running here, its mind had been utterly dominated by the imperative to get back to Jericho and the others and tell them. Now, though, that flood of mixed emotions was threatening to overwhelm it again. "She... she isn't as we remember her, Jericho. I could tell, I... her mind, her memory, is scattered. I saw her shifting and changing the more we talked, like she was adapting to me. She... she didn't remember me, not at first," and admitting that aloud made it close its eyes hard against tears that threatened to spill over. "I let her see my memories, and she seemed curious, but... she was so fragile. She didn't even remember her own wings, or her own old injuries..."

-And then, suddenly, it realized someone else was in the room. Its wings flared for a moment, but then it identified her and the spars checked their movement convulsively. "Shehk," it managed. "Quick, come - close the door."

Jericho felt his heart swell with hope as Malodore went on to explain what had happened. She was really alive! Maybe the Boogeys weren't all bastards after all! If this Sinclaire person managed to bring her back. Though, the excitement in him quickly faded as more information was given.

"she.. doesn't remember us..." he repeated, feeling his heart sink back down. Hearing Shehk enter, he turned towards the Pricolici.

"N-No.. you should hear this," he urged before flopping himself down onto the floor to sit.

Riley? Fragile? That didn't seem right. The idea that she no longer remembered any of them either was just... Well the dragon felt like it was a cruel twist. Taking her away and then bringing her back.. but not quite.

She hesitated, stepping back towards the hallway awkwardly before Malodore insisted she come in. Jericho seemed to agree as well. If this was the case, it was probably important - Jericho wasn't going to be a gold statue, it seemed. Never the less, she shut the door quietly behind her before she stepped into their little 'circle' of sorts.

"What's happened?" she sounded highly concerned, and for a second she looked to Jericho, wondering if.... no. She looked back to Mal again after she'd convinced herself that wasn't it - or rather, really HOPED that wasn't it.

"Riley's alive," Malodore repeated, then sagged, releasing its grip on Jericho and slowly folding up, joint by joint, until it was on the floor. "I should... I should be happy, shouldn't I, b-but... and I was happy, I was, until she looked at me and-" It shoved the memory towards them, but no, that didn't work with anything but mindflayers, and it ground its beak in frustration.

"She didn't remember, I... it wasn't anything like what I imagined, finding her alive, it... she didn't know what to do with me, until I showed her, and then she tried but it was just... just the motions, I..." It was trembling again, wingspars rattling against the floor. "But she's alive, I should be happy but it hurts, it hurt and what is wrong with me?!"

That last rose into an anguished howl, punctuated by the slam of one fist into the floor.

Jericho let Malodore do the explaining since it could do that better, having had the first hand experience. It was struggling right now, and he couldn't blame it. Quite frankly, he was torn personally on how to take this news.

"No.. no.. we understand. She's back.. but at the same time... she really isn't.." he muttered while letting his wings sag down. He felt pain right now, but he couldn't quite imagine the magnitude Malodore must have felt to witness that in person. It must have been something.

She was back? Shehk seemed startled by the news - after all, this wasn't how she was expecting to find that out. It was like she'd come back from the dead...... She felt herself clutching her chest, familiar with that sensation. 'I know you, but you don't remember me'. Decebal had been in that position in some way.

Was it the same way? The idea of it had to be put aside as she knelt down onto the floor next to both of them. She reached out, putting her hand on Malodore's shoulder. She didn't know what to say to that sort of pain, at least not immediately. "There's nothing wrong with you," It was almost a weak offering, "You miss her."

It was like Jericho said - she was back but she wasn't really. And that was the part that was hurting. Riley was alive, but it wasn't their Riley. At least... not yet, maybe. Shehk wanted to hope that the death Riley came back from wouldn't shock her like the death she herself had.

Malodore buried its mask in its hands, and for several minutes it shook with soundless sorrow. "She is... alive, and so perhaps..." it managed, breaking its silence at last, "there... but if she truly does not remember, I cannot force her, I..."

Was it almost worse this way? It could see it all so clearly in its minds eye: her returning, moving away from it. My Andeon, she had said. Two mindflayers, hands entwined. As it should have been, really. It had had no right to her in the first place. What had happened before was an aberration; it would now be corrected, as such things should be. A bleak inevitability.

It would, perhaps, do best to put her from its mind and heart and move forward - and yet it wanted to hold on to her tightly and never let her go.

"There is... there is more," it said, finally, shoving that pain away as hard as it could. "The Bogeymen are going to have examinations here, at Amityville. Related to Insanity. Sinclaire invited me to be involved, with Nurse Cricket's permission. But, Jericho, you must... you must not let them know. Not yet. I must take the measure of what they are doing..."

It could take care of them all, and in so doing not concern itself with its own problems. Yes.

The dragon shook at the very thought. The Riley they knew could very well still be dead in this case. He wanted it to not be like this but... he just didn't know.

"Maybe... maybe the memory loss is t-temporary.. She.. she can't be gone.. not like this.." he said, not wanting to believe that they were completely gone to her. She was recovering right? Then maybe her memory could recover as well? Jericho hoped this would be the case. Though, he soon looked up towards Malodore when it was mentioned that the boogeys will be sweeping through the school.

"Do you know when this will happen? Just so... just so we know not to go out... We will stay here.. it's safe here..."

"She just needs some time." Shehk agreed, "Coming back like that....isn't easy." At least, that was how she felt.

Shehk sat up just a bit straighter at mention of the boogeymen, looking to Jericho. She'd already told him her piece on them, but knowing they were coming so close to his 'comfort' zone made her nervous, actually. She wanted to reach out and squeeze his hand, but she made a note to..not. If he needed it, he'd initiate, she guessed.

"I definitely think it would be good to have someone 'on the inside' in a way with the Boogeymen's 'sweep', or whatever their examinations are going to be." she nodded. "I think it would put a lot of the students here at ease as well."

"A few days, is all she said. No specific date." Malodore sighed, drawing its wings around itself. "I may get more information when I speak with Infermiera Cricket; I am certain she will give me permission to be a part of this venture."

It shook its head. "They... they saved Riley, but... still, there was great pain done to her in the process, and there may be more. Sometimes pain is required for healing, but she... she wanted me to rescue her, and I couldn't. She needs specialized care. I don't even know what they did to enflesh her again." It sighed again, raggedly.

"G-grazie," it added, looking up at Jericho and Shehk as if embarrassed. "I... I thank you for your patience, in dealing with me... it is rare that I do not understand myself..."
