Mephistopheles vs Meredith [FIN]

Lenore and Mephistopheles stood overlooking the lake. They were looking for more practice opponents today, and decided to check the nearby lake.

Meredith had been resting on the lake shore. He missed the trainer he had befriended when that large caravan had come through. Seeing something out of the corner of his eye his head shot up. He looked around and spotted a new trainer and pokemon nearby.

He quickly made his way through some reeds and then grass to pop up near Lenore. "Bui?!"

A sudden movement near Lenore caught Mephistopheles' attention, and he launched a shadow ball at the intruder. Lenore let out a short gasp of surprise as she jumped away.

"Identify yourself!" boomed the duskull.

Meredith squealed in fright and jumped up in the air when the landed near him. "Why how dare you! Intruding on my home and then attacking me when I was just inquiring as to who she is!" His eyes flashed as he stared at the duskull. He quickly moved away from the human. After all he didn't wish her harm, only the other pokemon. As he was moving he swung his tails viciously almost creating an illusion of a violent wave.

The duskull was swamped by the attack, but he remained focused. There was no need for formalities - this was not sanctioned combat, and moreover, this was to protect Lenore.

His arm shot out as a blast of ice fired at the buizel. Mephistopheles remained deathly serious, unwilling to drop attention for a second.

Lenore looked vacantly from Mephistopheles to the buizel. She didn't think the buizel was trying to be mean, but they were fighting now. Probably just a practice match again. She sat down and watched.

Meredith didn't have enough time to move after attacking when he was hit with the ice attack. He was quickly frozen becoming a Buisicle.

Mephistopheles raised his arms, shadowy tendrils erupting from the ground. He continued to keep an eye on the now frozen Buizel, wary for tricks.

Meredith would have love to have done some tricks. Unfortunately he was still frozen pretty solid. But he did see some water running down the ice, which meant it was melting!

More tendrils erupted from the ground as Mephistopheles continued his vigil.

Lenore looked slightly worriedly at the duskull. Mef seems different than most other battles. Did something happen?

Meredith was able to begin wiggling around as his head and tails were melted. Soon the ice would be thin enough that he could just bust on through.

Mephistopheles raised a single arm menacingly as the tendrils lurched forward to lay the smackdown on the buizel.

Lenore tilted her head. The duskull looked angry, and it confused her.

Meredith was just starting to finish breaking through the ice when the attack hit. He flew back, ice scattering around him, and landed in the lake. He quickly surfaced calling out angrily. Then his cheeks puffed up and soon a scalding hot stream of water was shooting towards the ghost.

Mephistopheles raised his cloak to shield himself from the attack. He pointed at the buizel and the shadows shot at the pokemon floating in the lake.

Meredith ducked under the water in hopes of avoiding the attack but he was a moment too slow as the attack hit his bottom. This sent him flying towards the bottom of the lake. He took a moment to think and then shot to the surface. Once he broke the surface he growled cutely at Mephistopheles.

Some of the tendrils were blown away for some inexplainable reason. Without skipping a beat, however, Mephistopheles replaced them.
