"No less than the favorite of a goddess, named Aḻaku."In all of her twenty-seven years, Alaku had never thought that wandering alone would have such consequences. After all, those who were chosen by gods did not simply get lost...yet here she was, sitting defiantly within a field of flowers, the likes of which she'd never seen before. The morning hadn't started out so troublesome, as she'd spent most of the daylight exploring a set of ruins. The crumbled buildings seemed as old as her grandmother's stories, but she had yet to discover exactly what they were used for. She'd planned on returning the next day, hopefully with the assistance of a fellow tribe member; but that plan would be useless if she couldn't do something as simple as find her way home.
Sighing with frustration, Alaku moved to lay on her back. It would make more sense for her to spend a few moments in patient meditation rather than continue tromping across the wilderness without a clear view. Closing her eyes, she focused on breathing evening, letting her chest move up and down in time to her heartbeat. This would make it easier to utelize her goddess given gifts, which with any luck, would lead her home.
Of course, Alaku had terrible luck.

Simon AvalonI like knowing where I'm going...Simon walked up to the ruins, knife in hand, bloodied by the last encounter he'd had with a wild animal, he wiped it off on the ground, then looked around, for signs of life, he hadn't seen anyone for days on end, he was half afraid he'd go crazy, and half afraid he already was, he saw the ruins and having nothing more intelligent to do walked towards them, taking a swig from his water flask before letting it dagnle from his back pack, he sheathed his knife and sat on one of the abandoned houses walls, "It'd be interesting to find out what happened here..." he said examining the surroundings, the buildings all looked destroyed, not through the natural processes of wear and tear, but from a war of some variety, he put his pack down and began rolling his shoulders, after a few minutes or so he'd begin looking around for clues as to what happened, because he was unduly curious by this point about what had happened, that and it would give him some precious mental excercise that one rarely go from walkiing around the place. ... but then again I almost never know where I'm going. ((Okay, hope I've got the right idea about this. sweatdrop ))

"No less than the favorite of a goddess, named Aḻaku."An hour passed, or perhaps it was only a minute. Alaku didn't know, but she had expected such. Meditation always skewed her sense of time, and always left her feeling somewhat detached from the world around her. It wasn't a terrible sensation, in fact it was a rather pleasant one; problems didn't appear so troublesome, and it allowed her to communicate more freely with her abilities. As a young girl, she was taught that such things happened because of her affinity to the wind and the relationship her tribe has with the gods. Children accepted these reasons, and passed them without argument, so who was she to disagree?
Calm now, she sat up, sparing a glance at the sinking sun while calling the wind to her body. She pulled her knees to her chest, letting the threads of wind dump whatever sounds they found interesting before attempting to use them. It always went like that; the wind was like a child, wanting to share a fun story before listening to the requests of another being. The wisps moved her hair and loose sleeves freely, bringing her the sounds of an empty field, though an occasional animal was heard skittering through the grass.
Alaku sighed softly, not from exaspersation but from contentment. About to make her request for the whereabouts of the direction 'North', she opened her mouth, only to be brought a last thread of sound. "It'd be interesting to find out what happened here..." Taking a sharp breath, she looked around, seeing nothing new. Yet, there was another person here; not too far from the clarity of the wind's message, but far enough away that she would be hard pressed to find the person before nightfall. She stood, never one to waste time as she asked her question mentally. Where is north?
After recieving her answer, she set out, following her little wisp of wind with a voice. Hopefully, it would lead her to the...man. Yes, it was definitely male; she could only hope he wasn't as lost as herself.
{ooc: Yes, you're fine. Journeys without a goal means that anything can happen.} "The wind is more than a feeling, it's a life to worship."

Simon AvalonI like knowing where I'm going...Simon placed his pack into a corner, hiding it from view with an arrangement of plants and a rock, "Now, lets see what happened here." he said, a smile growing on his face, his machetes sheath was strapped to his belt so he could draw it on a moments notice, he began climbing the ruined buldings, not seeing anything to show what had happened, "No scarch marks, no strike marks... but I can't help feeling that something happened here..." he said as he began searching the next ruined house, this had some sort of circle decorating the one piece of wall that wasn't completely destroyed... "Huh, what have we here?" he asked himself, the cricle had a pentogram within it, smaller circles at the end of each point, each decorated with a seperate design... "Looks like some kind of magic circle... which means I'd better not touch it", Simon looked at it, trying to divine what the circles purpose was, the pentogram was usually associated with demons, but the other circles around it were of holy origin, as most contained references to gods of some variety or another, "A demonic war?" he pondered, the idea held merit, but he didn't know, he'd need someone who knew about magic before he could learn what this ones purpose was, the only thing he could be sure of was that it was a summoning of some sort, which was why the circle remained intact, as with any summoning you remove the circle you cancel the summoning, but then that raised a question, "Why not obliterate the wall to end the summoning? Why seal it?" he thought, this was going on the assumption that those were seals though... he sat infront of it, pondering the circle, trying to figure out its purpose and the purpose of the smaller circles, whilst relishing the act of finding something mentally excercising to do. ... but then again I almost never know where I'm going.

"No less than the favorite of a goddess, named Aḻaku."Continuing to follow the path led by the wind, Alaku was able to keep a steady pace. She was thankful for her abilities, causing her to sent a silent thanks to her personal goddess; Lady of the Red Wind. After doing so for a minute, she refocused her attention on the wind. Her original thread was now replaced by another, newer strand that carried new words. "Now, lets see what happened here." She perked up at the sound, amusing herself through the long walk by listening to what he said. It seemed that she was exloring the same things she had, making her more confident in knowing her location. A couple of times she wondered if he had some sort of companion along, but it became apparant that the man simply talked to himself while pondering the ruin's mystery. While there were large intervals of time when she heard nothing, everytime the wind brought a word it sounded louder, proving that she was getting closer. "Looks like some kind of magic circle... which means I'd better not touch it."
When the sun was only casting light from behind the earth, she saw the first block. By this time, she was already becoming weary, but the sight renewed her energy. Walking more quickly now, she strode through the weeds and grass, eyes wide open to search for the man that she'd heard. The wind tugged at her clothes whenever she turned the wrong way, keeping her on the right path until, finally, she glimpsed a sight of brown hair. With the ruins all around, she knew that there was plenty to be sidetracked by. However, she ignored the symbols she'd been studying for years and approached the man. "Hello." For some reason, she'd spoken softly; perhaps it was because of the ruin's eerie existance, or because she didn't want to startle this man from his searching. Her words released the wind, letting it resume its natural course as she continued. "I'm Alaku. You're words guided me back to this place." She paused where she was, roughly five feet away, refraining from explaining more until he also spoke. While the words brought to her by the wind had seemed unhostile, one could never be sure when things were being passed through such childlike things.

Simon AvalonI like knowing where I'm going...Simon moved in for a closer look, there were inscriptions along the pentograms lines, similar inscriptions decorated the other circles, this only further cemented that this could have been a summoning ritual, then he heard a voice, not from the circle but from behind him, Female, softly spoken though... which means she meant no harm... or at least he thought she didn't, Simon turned around to look at the woman, "Hello." Simon said, curiously, as far as he was concerned he was in the middle of no-where, there were few chances he'd meet another person out here, but that wasn't the part that got him she'd introduced herself and told him how she found him, "My words guided you here?" he asked, honestly curious about how that'd work, "Perhaps she just heard me and wasn't far away?" he thought, "But no, I haven't seen anyone for ages... well until now..." he corrected, this was confusing, but then again, Simon was just thankful that someone else was around, he didn't like being alone. ... but then again I almost never know where I'm going.

"No less than the favorite of a goddess, named Aḻaku."His greeting recieved a polite nod from Alaku, though she didn't come closer. His next words caused her to raise brow, taken aback by his confusion. "Yes. I'm Alaku." he repeated, as if that should make her identity clearer. After a few moments of study, she found no recognition in his expression, causing her to sigh. "The leader of De Irvata. House for the goddess of the Red Wind." Who was this foreigner? Despite his ignorance, she remained calm, remembering the lessons of tolerance she'd been forced to sit through as a child. Besides, he helped her while she lost, whether or not he knew it. "The wind helps me, sometimes. It brought your words to me, which leads me here." Once he'd spoken, she was sure that this was the man she'd heard along her way. Of course, that meant that he was probably the only person nearby, prompting her own question. "Are you a wanderer?"

Simon AvalonI like knowing where I'm going...Simon silently began to take notes on Alaku, "Leader of a guild or something like that dedicated to the godess of red wind and capable of tracking people with the wind..." he thought as he more or less mentally filed that away, then she asked him a question, "I suppose so, yeah, Wanderer seems to fit." he said after a minute or so of contemplation, he hadn't really thought about defining himself as a wanderer before, but the term did seem to fit, if not for his life as a whole thus far it fit for now. "So Alaku, what has brought you to, dare I say, the middle of no-where?" he asked, people don't tend to wind up places for no reason... but then again, Simon wound up here for no good reason, so perhaps she could have also. ... but then again I almost never know where I'm going.

"No less than the favorite of a goddess, named Aḻaku."Hearing his acceptance of her term, Alaku nodded again, glad to be correct in her assumptions. She leaned against the half crumbled wall beside where she stood, feeling comfortable enough with this stranger to lower her guard. "You look like a wanderer." she said, not unkindly, just simply. His clothes were like those usually worn by travelers she'd met before, though there weren't many. Hearing his question, she motioned vaguely to the ruins around them as she answered, "My tribe doesn't live too far, now. I come up here some mornings to study the odd runes and symbols." It was interesting to her to find such odd things in the middle of an otherwise empty field. Several times she would catch herself wondering what could possibly have caused these buildings to come to ruin. "What of yourself?" she questioned, wondering why this man would wander to a set of decript buildings.

Simon AvalonI like knowing where I'm going...Simon looked around before answering, "I don't know... combination of boredom... possible insanity... and this is the most interesting thing I've seen in at least the last week..." he said, almost going through his entire reasoning, but then again he didn't really have a reason to be here, he just was, and he was thankful for it somewhat, not only was there the mystery of the ruins and their ruination, but the company of another person, made especially nice in that he wasn't bound and gagged and about to be sacrificed to some made up deity or another, he shuddered, recalling the last time that had happened, not fun. ... but then again I almost never know where I'm going.

"No less than the favorite of a goddess, named Aḻaku."Listening to his reasoning, Alaku smiled faintly at the mention of insanity. After all, he seemed sane enough to her, and she would appreciate more help when exploring the ruins. "Have you found anything interesting?" she questioned, curious as to whether he'd had better luck with the search than she did. Every other morning for a week was not long for a search without a specific goal, but it was long enough to warrant interest. She spared another glance around the area before returning her attention to Simon. She'd determined already that he was alone and a wanderer, but most travelers that came into her tribe came in pairs or threes.

Simon AvalonI like knowing where I'm going..."Nothing really... apart from what I can only assume is a summoners circle, from what I see on it, it looks like a demonic summoning, which probably means the casters were killed, there are inscriptions going along the lines of the pentogram, probably a reinforcement to any incantations the summoners were using but since I can't read them I wouldn't know, the other smaller circles appear to be a seal of some sort, as most of the designs on them appear to be of holy origin, there don't seem to be inscriptions on the smaller circles, which either indicates haste in the casting or really powerful casters, but theres still something that bugs me about it..." he said, not entirely realising he'd just fired off every thought he'd had on the circle and its contents thus far... "But thats just what I've seen, you probably know all that already, seeing as you live close to here, right?" he said, it seemed to be sensible that she'd know all he knew about it and more, considering that she had her magic trick with the wind in finding him and all. He looked at the circle again, he didn't like it for some reason, everything about it seemed like it should be a summoners circle, but why would someone seal a summoners circle when they could just break the surface was the counter arguement that kept popping up in his mind. ... but then again I almost never know where I'm going.

"No less than the favorite of a goddess, named Aḻaku."Surprised that the man answered her question in such depth, Alaku made a point to listen carefully. She'd come across what he described as a 'summoner's circle', but she'd never thought much of it. Now, though, she took a stepped closer, wanting to see it with this new knowledge. "You ramble," she said as she crossed the space between herself and the part of the ruins he inspected. Again, she meant no insult, and that was apparent with the lack sharpness or rudeness in tone; she'd simply stated what she believed to be a fact. "That's good. It makes it easier for you to be understood." And trusted, but she refrained from adding that. There was still mcuh to learn before one could trust a wanderer.
"I don't know much about summoning." she admitted, her gaze studying the pentogram curiously. Her people were devoted to the gods, not black magic. "Perhaps my tribe's preist could learn more..." she mused, extending her hand past Simon to rest on the large circle. The wall was still warm from the departing sun, and her fingers ran across odd lines until she realized that the wall was growing hotter. Dropping her hand when the heat became unbearable, she spoke. "It is cursed." Her eyes flickered to the shapes surrounding the pentogram, recognizing some as the god's language. Being the leader of her tribe, she was one of the most fluent of her people, yet even she could barely comprehend the symbols. "These runes-" she pointed to the shapes and runes, being careful not to touch the wall again, "-are of divine origin."

Simon AvalonI like knowing where I'm going..."Divine origin?" he asked, semi rhetorically, "Perhaps that could be another layer to the seal..." he thought aloud, but why was the circle cursed? Perahps a ward to stop anyone interfering with the initial summoning? Or perhaps a placement by the sealers to prevent tampering with the seal, "Hmm, I don't get it..." he said... this didn't seem to add up, what happened here, did the magic circle have anything to do with it? Simon thought so, people don't tend to curse a fashionable wall piece, but still something didn't ring right about it... like there was... more he could be knowing, he looked at the circle more closely, but saw nothing new... "Something really bugs me about this circle, I don't get it though... its like theres... more I should be knowing..." he said, unconciously excentuating the "more" in his sentence, he thought over it, what more was there? More circles? More information about the circle? "Ah... this is getting me no-where..." he said, clutching his head, "What about you? Whats your take on this?" he asked, perhaps she knew something about the cricles history, or perhaps her tribe did, seeing as they didn't live all that far away, or so he thought. ... but then again I almost never know where I'm going.
