* Note: Florian is a foal in this roleplay. :3

The young Florian plopped down upon the earth with a loud 'thud' noise. Her heart beated quickly within her chest and deep, heavy breathes escaped from her vocals. Her nostrils flared, snorting, as she lifted her head with a sigh. "I just...I just don't get it," she whispered as she looked to her scrawny legs. They surely weren't the legs of some great creature and in fact, looked like thin branches. How come they were so thin? Where were those muscles? "I've been working my butt off--for what? Nothing!" she exlamined before standing up.
It was true. Florian had been sneaking away from her family to train underneath the supervision of Thesh-Ah. She had dreamt of becoming as wise and powerful as the great mare. But Florian was starting to doubt herself..all of this, all the training.

Giving a gentle chuckle Thesh-ah shook her head lightly. This was perhaps the happiest she had been in a long time. Florian was for the most part a brilliant pupil. It was true training was an uphill climb sometimes as her breeding held her back in some respects however her desire was as strong as any she had trained with back in her homeland. "There are different ways of doing many diffirent things. Battle is no different. Every breed and body has different kinds of advantages styles and suits. Your father is lithe your mother is as well Mussels and brawn suit some and its true bulk does have its very obvious advantages but you like me are not meant to take that route." She looked down at her own rather Petite form for a second with a kind of good humored sigh. "For those of us with smaller frames who won't ever actually bulk up. we must rely on our persistence, our heart , ingenuity and perhaps most importantly that we are greatly underestimated in a fight. Our strengths are not something an opponent can see simply at a glance and what's better due to our size they assume they see our weakness. That lack of knowledge and that assumption give us they upper hand even before the first blow is struck. Of course it also makes watching our own skill progression difficult to gauge and sometimes disheartening even with praise and the words of our teachers." With that Thesh-ah walked over to a large patch of dirt they had used for practice sparring and swept it clean of tracks with a pine branch. It was a blank slate. Tossing the broom away she stood in the center and got into a defensive stance. "let's keep going."

Florian followed beside Thesh-Ah to the clearing and watched the mare sweep. "So, what you're saying is kinda like the story that I overheard once between a hare and a turtle," she tilted her head to the side a bit. "Everyone thought that the hare would win. He's fast, quick, and cunning. The turtle on the otherhand is slow and dull, he surely wouldn't come in first place. But the hare lost and the turtle had won," she said. Florian paused for a brief moment as she watched the branch brush against the earth. The words of Thesh-Ah settlign into her mind. She had realized that there was no point in rushing her training as she might forget something. Florian wasn't going to grow into some brute and Thesh-Ah made that perfectly clear. Although, Florian wouldn't mind some muscles on her little tiny body, she would rather have brains over brawn.
She stepped forwards to the mare with a grimace. Florian was glad to have such an understanding, wise teacher like Thesh-Ah. Kinda like having two mothers. The young foal chuckled to the thought of having two moms before breathing in deeply, holding her breath for a second or two, and puffing out her chest before exhaling loudly.
"Yes, let's keep going." Florian took another step, sprawling out her legs and lowering her body down a bit as she looked to Thesh-Ah. The grin grew on her lips as Florian was preparing herself for another fantasic teaching.

With a respectful nod oh her head Thesh-ah took a deep breath. "Since Ive had time to gauge your natural ability over these few weeks. Today we will be starting to work on some basic maneuvers. These are meant to give you leverage and use our smaller frames with better stances to a better advantage against a lager opponent. Now i will demonstrate the movements and you will practice them with me a few times. to make sure you've got the proper movement. Then i will remove my armor and you can attempt it on me." Slowly so the movements could be properly analyzed she swept into demonstrating a maneuver. "Plant each hoof carefully. Footing is very important in battle gravity will work for you if you know what your doing. This particular one is meant to unbalance the enemy and then possibly turn into an offensive attack it you at the point of completion feel it is possible." she continued at she went through each motions.

Florian watched Thesh-Ah perform the movements in which that she would soon have to demonstrate for the mare. The young filly always got nervous trying to perform the same movements in front of Thesh-Ah because she wasn't as agile and swiftful as the mare. In fact Florian was quit the klutz; sometimes her hooves her tangle together or she would get so confused that she would trip on the ground. However, Florian was being extra careful this time as her eyes studied Thesh-Ah's movements. She wanted to make her instructor proud--and everyone else proud.
She breathed in deeply and closed her eyes for just a quick second. Opening them, she placed her hooves on the ground before her. They were gentle on the ground but sturdy enough so that no one would be able to push her.
"But," Florian started to say. "How could small creatures...erm, creatures with small frames even take on such a larger creature? They could squish us!" Florian asked as she looked to Thesh-Ah with bright, curious eyes. "I don't understand how someone like me--something small and puny could take on such a large opponent. Just makes no sense," she sighed. And really--to Florian it didn't. She tried to imagine herself standing next to a great, big'ol beast. He could easily rip her to shreds. And Florian, a little filly had nothing. She didn't have horns, thorns, or anything. She just had herself. And no matter how quick and cunning she would get, she would always just have herself.

"it is wise to understand ones limits. As bravery must not always be foolish, however you musent underestimate yourself either. leave that to your opponent." she said studying her pupils movements. Picking up a twig she pointed to Florians left back leg. "When you move into the second motion keep that back left leg planted. its difficult because its an unnatural movement but you'll need that balance. move the body not the legs. Your legs will come in on the third motion. Don't be in a rush to move forward. speed makes one sloppy." she corrected gently and watched as after her minor corrections florian preformed it nearly as well as she had.. "Good good." she said with a gentle nod "Acting on the spot in a fight is natural. Thinking during a fight is not. Hence why Maneuvers are more difficult to master. They require more mental discipline than physical discipline." She watched as the motions were preformed again and again it wasn't perfection but that could not be expected right of the bat and certainly not without really getting a feel for it in an actual fight. doing the motions was one thing but preforming them . . . feeling another body doing what you impose on it gave one a vast understanding of how powerful a being can truly be. "Your body,- all bodies large or teeny tiny want to survive. It will never betray you on purpose. Trust in it. Trust in your training and your instincts. You may not always win and we are only mortal so mistakes are made but with what you learn not only from me but your own observations of what you can and cannot do. You stand more of chance of doing those less." she continued and removed her battle vestments. hanging fully them over the low branch of a tree. Her body was a mass of Scars from bites, claws, and horns. Her hide told a a veritable nightmare of assaults. a few newer once still had scabs on them. In the back of her mind she felt ashamed of her apperance more so than ushual but this like actual battle would be something Florian would need to see if she was going fully understand what it might mean to be a warrior, a fighter, . . .a knight.

The little Florian had paused for a brief moment as her instrutor began to remove the armor from her frame. Never before had she noticed the scars on the mare's body, of course Florian would've have with all the armor on. She had wondered how Thesh-Ah had gotten the scars and whom from. She was about to ask and had the urge to do so, but Florian didn't want to return any bad memories and experiences that Thesh-Ah may have had. Gulping, shaking her head Florian spread her legs evenly on the earth. She in breathed in deeply, puffing out her chest as she did so and then exhaled loudly. "But one mistake can be deadly. I've got to be the best," Florian said softly. "I cannot lose. Not one battle. Not ever. Losing is weakness. And I am not weak," there was a dark expression on her face as she spoke. "I want to be as cunning and strong as you are, Thesh-Ah. To prove to everyone else that I'm not some fragile filly," she said as she stepped to the mare with a determined grin on her lips. "There's more to Florian than other's realize," the young filly stood proudly as she looked to her instructor.
