I took lessons for two years and it was mostly fusion heavy on Cabaret. I would say I'm not a beginner, but I'm not advanced. I had to stop taking private lessons when I moved since it's very far to drive and not really worth the gas. I haven't practiced much either since we left the area.
I'm curious do any of you use videos? Which ones were helpful and fun to use for you? The only thing I have is a season of Shimmy, and I actually really like it. I'm looking for maybe something with floor work and veil...maybe things that go over basic moves as a workout or simple routines. Mostly I just want an fun video that isn't overly beginner, but nothing advanced. I'm looking through videos, and I see a lot....but they are expensive as hell. :/ Sadly Netflix doesn't have a selection of hardly anything that I can try out first. Anything you guys use that has been fun and helpful for you?

Why did I not see this before?!
Anyways, I used to dance to DVDs (still do at times). Right now I am taking ATS Level II and Tribal Fusion and about to learn how to do a cane dance (raqs al assaya). I've been taking in class lessons for a little over a year now.

I really recommend keeping an eye out for videos from World Dance New York, they make some really great quality DVDs and are much cheaper than other places that sell them.
