Charlotte and Levi stood at their small garden, looking at it in disappointment. Levi had planted some tomatoes and corn but it seemed the crows had gotten to them. There were half ripe tomatoes on the ground and half eaten ears of corn still on the stalks.
"Well," Levi said as he turned to his sister, "I guess we'll have to buy ourselves a scarecrow."
Charlotte snorted and kicked her hip to one side. "Can't you make one, Lee? I think that would be easier...besides, half the reason for planting our own crops this year was to avoid buying stuff we didn't have to, right?" Besides. She wasn't going to build it. It was bad enough he'd gotten her to help harvest their small amount of crops. "I guess if you'd rather buy one, we can. It would be a good investment..."

Crovus sighed as he swatted his arm through the air, chasing away yet another crow in a long abandoned field. No farmer had used it for years and he was left behind, still protective of the land in case if his original owner ever returned. Day after day he would chase away the crows, the only friends he made was that of the Sun and Moon which he greeted with sadness. Every morning he would pray that someone would find use for him. It was much more rewarding keeping a field of fresh crops safe than a invasion of weeds. "...Another day and the same old crows.."
