Sasha's lips formed a flat line as she moved back into the room, brows lifted.
"No, her room is ah.. well. Unscathed. You weren't so lucky, were you? I saw the rubble when I passed by."
Her slipped her coat off and opened the closet, reaching for a coat hanger.
"What's on your mind, Jerry?"

"Er... yeah it... it was. P-probably my own stray blasts, ahahaha... I kept telling them Roar wasn't an indoor weapon but... help was help and we did it, didn't we?" He smiled weakly, fidgeting as he watched her move about. "I... um. I was... was wondering if... um. I mean if you were comfortable with it... I mean I can find somewhere I'm sure but if we're moving out of the bunkers then um... if... if maybe I could er... stay with you? Um. Even just... just a few days?" He fidgeted with his cane before putting his hand in his pocket, "I can sleep on the floor," He offered quickly.

The door to the closet shut with a soft click.
Sasha sat on the edge of her bed, leaning back on her elbows in a position much like the one Rin had taken just moments prior. In all honesty, she'd been expecting Jerry to ask. She certainly wasn't going to let him sleep in the hallways, and it wasn't like they hadn't shared a bunk together. Multiple times.
"I feel like.. before we um. Before we talk about that, Jerry. We should talk about ah." She clenched her jaw. "We should talk about what happened in .. on the bachelor party."

Jerry's face went red. They had been so busy with everything there hadn't been a moment to talk about all of that. "N-nothing happened, I swear! They wanted to go see strippers but don't worry, that's... that's really not my thing, I sat that out-" Granted, he had been vomiting and had slept a portion of it off in the hotel room before dragging himself throuhg the portal, but...

"Jerry."
She didn't feel up to beating around the bush. Sasha was tired and hungry.
"The alcohol."

He opened his mouth and closed it again, "Oh. Th-that. Um. I... it's not... I mean... everyone was and... And they told me to so..."

Sasha rose from the bed. A few steps, and she was leaning into him, palms on his cheeks.
She stared up into his eyes for a long, silent moment.
When she spoke, her voice was soft - a mere whisper.
"I don't care about them, Jerry. I.. I care about you, okay? I don't.. I don't care what everyone else was doing, and I don't.. it doesn't matter if they told you to."
Brushing her thumb against the cobweb of scars that laced his cheek, Sasha sighed.
"I can't do this again, I just.. I can't."

He opened his mouth, he closed it again, he kept his eyes down, his face red as he leaned against her hands, "If... if it makes you feel better I was... p-pretty hung over? I hadn't... hadn't had a drink in a long time. It.. it just.. it felt good to.. to just let go for one night, you know? I'm... I'm sorry if I worried you," He was whispering too. Swallowing deeply, he clenched the box in his pocket. "I.. I w-won't... I won't do it again."

Sasha shook her head as she peered up at him.
"It.. you're.. you're recovering. You were recovering. And.. that should count for something, Jerry, right? I.. I mean. I watched my papa die because of alcohol. He drank himself into the ground and I just.."
She cleared her throat.
"You have to .. it's a sickness. I know this, Jerry, and.. you know, I want to like.. I want to support you. I don't ... want you to promise not to do it because it will make me happy or.. or whatever."
Sasha dropped her hands.
"I want you to.. to not do it because you know it's the best thing for you to do."
A corner of her mouth dropped in a soft frown.
"Does that make sense?"

He winced. He did understand but... he knew there were times when he really shouldn't- like when piloting golems, or going on missions, clearly. But he didn't see the harm in now and then. A sickness? He wasn't sick, he was just... stressed. He had done well enough the past few months, though, not counting the bachelor party but it was a flippin' bachelor party how could he NOT have had a drink or two or six? It was a party and everyone else was already diving into the booze the moment they had arrived. Tossing back bottle after bottle all around him, egging him on, how could he NOT have joined in? He would have been a wet blanket. He didn't want to be a wet blanket.
"Yeah..." He murmured quietly.
But if Sasha really was uncomfortable with him drinking... if it really did scare her like that then... well... then...
He'd just make sure she didn't find out if he sneaked a drink now and then.
That aint gonna' solve your problems, bub. Roar nudged the back of his mind and he pursed his lips again. He winced. "I'm not... I'm not going to... to do that. I'm not going to... to drink myself into the ground. It was just a party. I don't even go to that many parties. I don't think I went to ANY parties before the Island here, and it's not like I get invited to many HERE either, ahahaha..."

Sasha merely gave him a long, long look. She didn't want to tell him that if he ever drank again, she wouldn't be able to watch him do it. She couldn't tell him that the alcohol scared her - he had admitted that he was a recovering alcoholic, which, to Sasha, meant that he recognized he had a problem. Sasha didn't want it to come to all that.
Maybe she'd said enough already. Maybe he could see how much it bothered her, how much it bothered other people. Like Jordan - he'd sent her a private text, after all. Jordan knew. It just... wasn't Jordan's problem.
Sasha didn't want it to be her problem either, if she was being completely honest with herself. Not again. Not here. Not when things were going so well for her - and, in truth, could only get better. She was still hopeful of a promotion, her own home...
"There are other ways to deal with.. with things that trouble you, Jerry. I mean.. you have your music. You.." she cleared her throat.
"You have me, too."

"You... you don't need to worry about me," He forced a smile, his hands moving to gently take her's in his own, holding her slender fingers to quietly study her nails, the lines of her skin, the color, the softness. "I... I got something for you, though!" His hand dipped into his pocket, pulling out the small box before setting it in her palm with a much more honest smile. "Oh my goodness, Sasha, you should have SEEN it! I... I won the jackpot! TWICE! Two thousand dollars!" He hissed. "I've never won ANYTHING in my life, let alone TWICE! And... and this super nice lady helped me pick this out for you!"

But I do need to worry about him.
<Perhaps you should worry more about yourself, sweet dove. It is a full time job, ask your Nona.>
I just want to see him smile. A real, genuine smile. Like that one, but.. different.
"A present?" Her eyes grew wide as she stared down at the box in her palm. "And you won the jackpot twice? That's.. well. That's wonderful, Jerry."
A pink blush was high on her cheeks as she glanced up at him, tapping her fingers on the small box she held.
"Do I just.. do I open it?"

"Read the card first!" He urged. The woman had said the cards were very important... although it was all a bit foggy at this point. He couldn't remember the name of the shop, but it couldn't have been too far from the casino... if he ever had to return the thing, if she didn't like it...
The card read simply, in his handwriting, a little bit sloppy as though he was only just sobering up but the thought and care was there:
My luck changed when I met you I hope it changes for you too I can fly high when not alone, Fly with me and call this home.

Sasha's lips moved slightly as she read the note, a low squeal of happiness echoing throughout the room. She didn't wait before she opened the box, staring down at the gift revealed within.
It was one of the most beautiful things she'd ever seen in her life.
The bracelet was silver, as were the charms. Two birds and a musical clef that reminded her of Nona. It had a...
"Is this a diamond?!"
She couldn't take this present.
Then again... just looking at it made her feel hazy with glee and happiness.
Okay, she could take the present.
"Can you put it on me?"
Like, now?
