It was relatively pleasant when Kato woke up, no pain, not much of anything really, and the sense that he was really, lying down on something relatively soft. A bed perhaps? A bright light above them. An isolated room that was simply white, clinical.
The same cloaked figure was sitting next to a table, peeling a fruit with an army knife. A haunted fruit. A decaying fruit. Who knew. It was too clean.
"So." The figure asked, now cutting a small slice of the oddly coloured apple for themselves. "How does it feel?"

A flash of blue light, the sound of a voice, followed by a sudden sharp pain and then black. It was rather comforting actually, the blackness of everything... at least he no longer needed to worry about someone creeping up on him in his sleep... yes?
Maybe.
Lifting one eye the boil let a noise creep out of his mouth. More like a sigh but it also sounded like a groan. It was almost as if his eyes did not want to open all the way... Then what he did see, caused them to fly open. Forgetting everything else he focused on whomever was sitting in the chair. Abducted? Dreaming? Pranking? What the hell were they up to... Trying to scoot away... failing, but trying. He was in no REAL pain... and whatever he was on was REALLY soft. Plus it was clean. He could smell disinfectant even. He could appreciate a clean room. Still though this thing here attacked them earlier!...Where was everyone? Why was it so damn bright too?
Then he spoke...He wanted to know how it felt? "Feels like i was run over by a rogue hyppogryph but... where the HELL am i." Kato grumped out, now wondering where everyone was.... Jinhai, oh hell he even would launch himself at DIS right now if he could. Jack.

"I will be honest with you then." The figure polished their pocket knife with a small piece of cloth, "You are here as a guest, but of course, on my conditions. See, what you would call a classmate of yours in that discovery yesterday took a sizeable portion of treasure that belongs to me, and yet even though I asked, as you remember, they refused to give it back. They seemed more than happy to use you as collateral instead. In fact, all of them did: not a single one stood up to defend you from what they wanted. Their own lies perhaps, secrets. It is unfortunate that you seem to not know what they knew."

Kato watched the knife warily, almost afraid that the second he said the wrong thing... that knife would be descaling him and not that weird looking apple he was cutting a moment ago.
Frowning he pondered the words for a moment, and heaved a sigh. "I saw some of them take treasures, but i was not one of them i dont HAVE anything you might want." He was clumping himself in with the 'they'. Was that treasure truly his though? He did know about it.. and he seemed to think they knew about it too. How did he know some of them took some?
...Wait.
"...They used ME so they would not have to give YOU the treasure?" On a subconscious level this was PROOF to him that all of his classmates knew his worth, that was a mountain of gold down there! But...
"...Me. Why me?.... What are the conditions of being a guest?" He was now leery, if his words were true his classmates just gave him over to this person like you would a pet. "...I am no ones dog."
Jinhai... Even Dis... they all gave him up?

"I agree, by far it is a fair exchange," the cloak figure continued slowly, pausing once in a while to take a sip from a strange dark substance in a mug next to them, as if mulling things over. " As I said, you are my guest, which means you are free to go, as you please. You are free to go back to those that betrayed you and question them, and perhaps, they will lie as effortlessly to you as they did to me."
The cup was placed down again. "The cave you discovered hides power. What reason did they have to lie to me other than to take that power for their own? That is the only reason I confronted you, to take the power before it corrupted. To take what was rightfully mine to protect. Without my guidance, it could not be controlled otherwise."
They waved to the door behind them. It was open. Kato was not chained or restricted or locked down: he was free to leave. "The exit is simply behind you, but when you leave, do ask your friends, why they abandoned you. I highly doubt you that is what you wanted, to be left weak and helpless, alone. Leftover scraps while the others chased power, gained a little head start."

He was not so sure about the 'guest' thing... it still seemed like Kato was supposed to belong to this strange man, the way he kept wording it. Why would he have given up all the treasure, for him, only to let him go?
"...Power? So... you are the guardian of the power?" It all made sense. This man is the guardian of the power source underground. That was why he wanted the treasure back, he was the one guarding it! Maybe he was ok with a few things slipping away then? After all if they HAD traded for him...
...They still traded him away. Tossed him away like some useless garbage. Did he really mean that little, was he liked THAT little? he already had the feeling that his fellow classmates hated him, after all all they really did was pick in him relentlessly. SOmetimes the pranking went too far and ended up really hurting him, not always mentally. In a traditional Kato fashion his face started to scrunch up, he crossed his arms, and he scowled the more he thought about it. They had lied to this man, and probably WOULD lie about anything he asked them.
Even Jinhai.
"What if i don't want to go back." Kato finally settled on, staring at the weird cloaked individual. What did he have to go back to anyways? They all betrayed him. He was nothing more than a bartering chip to them. "What did you want me for." There MUST be a reason...yes?

They chuckled a little to themselves. "I guess your question is correct, I would like to have you, as an ally. The choice if you would like to or not, is entirely up to you."
He stood up, and offered the other a worn hand. "I believe we have had a rough introduction, let me start all over again. My name is Liam, and I am as you said, a guardian of power. Now, I believe I did not quite catch your name properly."

Ally. This man wanted him as an ally. For the first time ever someone actually saw potential in what he was. Not just using him as a punching bag, or for himself... no. This, Liam, wanted him.
Reaching out towards the other hand he took the cloaked mans hand willingly, giving it a firm grip of his own.
"I should give you my first name then. Since i started Amity everyone has been addressing me by my last name." Something that his parents had urged. Something about respect.
"My real name is... Takeru."
