If you have any questions about anything at all, please ask them here. We understand that sometimes you may not know the social structure or the way things work at times, but we're here to help you! So if you have any doubt, ask us so we dont have to tell you to change it in your RP later because its wrong. heart

Right; I have a question about the towns. I wanted to create an area such as a lake or river near which my Gehaka, Shizuka Tsukiko, has a boat-building shop and several boats, which he inherited from his dead parents, that the Haka and Gehaka can take out onto the river/stream/lake whatever. I could go find a name and all, but I just wanted to know if setting it up myself would be in accordance with the rules...

As I've said- whenever a Haka dies, their assets (stores and the like) are liquidated (as in sold to buyers for cash) and then the money is divided amongst their offspring and mates.

The only way that someone can 'inheireit' something is to 'take over the family business'. That means that the Haka would have to be of the age to marry or already married before their 'mother' could die. If they were not old enough, the shop would be sold by the town government.

So- your character would have to be old enough to be married and a haka, in order to run the shop.

If you would like to, post a description in the 'town' (group rp) of your shop and what it has to offer. There is a 'how to' there in the town forum on how to do this.

*raises hand* I also have a question. I bought Haka 01-004 during the flatsale, and also picked out a name for him. Iim trying to find his comleted cert, but it always comes up as the "Oops. Photobucket doesn't have this image" picture. Anyway I can get his cert?

Okay, in that case can he just build boats for a hobby? Can I just set up a description of a place or town beside a river where all the boats are moored with his home/workshop in the homes section? He wouldn't technically "own his own business" people would just kind of take advantage of his hobby and take the boats out for a minute payment...? (Is that possible?)

Thats because the certs were just now completed. Baby Gwing is going to upload a list to the forum with the completed certificates within twelve hours, she says. We had to move them to a different spot.

A gehaka needs a Haka in order to socially survive. They cant own land on their own, so they can't farm and support themselves, and they cant run businesses. A haka would have to own the land, and him, either he's their child or their husband, in order for him to own the land in order to have a 'hobby' on. Otherwise the land is property of the council (town) and he wouldn't be able to support himself. So ultimately, again, no.

Hm, well...this is a thought that I just had. Is a Gehaka allowed to have sort of a 'break time'? For example, if they finished working or if their husband had nothing for them to do, could the Gehaka be turned loose to simply do what they felt like at the time? Granted, it would have to be within the rules of society, but if a Gehaka simply wanted to sit under a tree and relax for a while, would that be allowed?

Yes, alot of Gehaka are schedualed by the first husband, who after a few mates starts to sort of 'take over' when it comes to the other husbands, so the Haka doesn't have to waste his time with such things. Thats why a first husband is so important. Some Gehaka have mornings off, and work in the afternoons, some have specific chores they must complete before they get a break, and have the rest of the day off after that- also take into consideration how many husbands the haka has. The more husbands, the more the work is divided amongst them.

A'rite. In that case I'll just change the storyline I was going to use for my character. His parents were both going to be dead, but now that I see that he would have starved to death long ago because he couldn't have a job or own property without a Haka for a mother, I'll just switch it up.

If his mother owns the shop, is it possible that he could work in it? Like helping build boats because he enjoys it? I just want to get all of this straightened out before I carry on any more RP's incorrectly.

A'rite. In that case he can just be a wimpy lil dude who does nothing at all with his time... just nix the whole doing anything idea... I just don't know what he'd do in his spare time if he didn't have a hobby. Does that mean they don't have homes either? Where do they sleep at night? Do they own any belongings at all besides the skin on their backs? How do they afford food to survive? (I just want to go ahead and have all this cleared up before I make anymore mistakes...)

I take it that you want a Gehaka that is not married and not living with his parents?

What exactly is the situation you want your Gehaka to be in? Gehaka usually stay with their parents until they're married, and after that they're taken care of by their haka mate.

Well I was planning on a certain storyline. (See edited post above ~ I didn't mean to sound harsh.) He's frail and shy and a hemopheliac, so I was gonna say that the reason he's that way is because his mother only owned one Haka, who was ill most of the time, and that she died during whatever way they "give birth".

Your edited post storyline sounds fine, it would be expected that he work in his mothers shop. His mother doesn't have to be there or really present- his mother would oversee it sort of, on the books and whatnot. This is common for most Haka to do.

Is it acceptable for a first gehaka to still help out in his mother's store, even after marriage? And what exactly IS the policy on marriage and such? Haruki is having some... issues there. @_@

I've gots a question and whatnot. XD For the background of my Gehaka.

Say that my Gehaka's mother had a need for all his possessions to be of the finest nature and for his mates to be fine and -gasp- at least slightly educated? Would it be possible for my Gehaka's father, having had some minor schooling at his mate's expense, to teach it to his Gekaka son?

Also, would it be unusual for a Haka to more or less not favor his child, if it was a Gehaka?

I think that's it for the moment. O_o
