Walking at a snail's pace, the female sighed a contented sigh. This was her favorite part of being who she was, even if she wasn't all that great at it.
OK - She was terrible at it, but one thing she was good at was following her Mother's spirit. Sure, she got funny looks from other lions as she trudged around, nose to the wind. Heavy amount of items clinging to her body, as she pushed on. She was a scrawny thing, so the look of her with all of these items only added to her peculiar appearance. She wasn't much of a mind in that department though, she knew who she was and she accepted herself for it. So she wasn't all that great at most things - what did it matter so long as she was happy with herself? It didn't!
Jalouzi allowed a small purr to roll through the body as she took small whiffs of the area. She was on the hunt, and the thrill excited her. Her Mother was here, she could feel her spirit hanging in the air and just knew this was the place she was meant to be. Now all she had to do was find what her Mother was pushing her towards.

It had been days since his last real find, and the itch to find something new was starting to drive him a little crazy. He hated when these dry spells happened, because there never really was a guarantee of when they would break. Growling under his breath, the rumble grew in his chest as he kicked the dirt beneath his feet angrily. Patience was definitely not one of his stronger points, especially when needed something really bad.
Like now.
Now he needed the next best thing, the thing that would catch every lion's eye. Make him the center of attention once more. Competition among the pride had gotten pretty tough, and he needed something to give him the extra push. So he had set out, with nowhere in particular in mind. Hoping to come across something - though exactly what was beyond even his knowledge.
Fio sighed as he stepped out of the shade and into the sun once more, his eyes peeled for areas of interest. But nothing really caught his eye, until he turned to his right.
There! A bright blue bobble in the distance! He let out an excited yelp as he rushed to get closer. Relatively blind to the fact that the sun was only playing a mild trick on him.

Now bored of her snail's pace, Jalouzi paced herself a bit quicker. A small skip making its way into her otherwise normal routine. Excitedly she tried to contain herself, her skipping was a tell! A tell that she was near to what her Mother wanted her to find! "I'm almost there Mom, I can feel it!" She praised. Her skipping becoming more enthusiastic.
As she rounded a corner a scent caught her nose, and she quickly stiffened to attention. Her body fully aware that another was within her area. Also fully aware that she had no strength in which to combat a possible attack. With her heart beating a million times a second, the lioness darted behind the rock formation to her right and cowered in fear. Although, as she sat there, she realized she may have overreacted. It's not like she'd actually seen anything she should be fearful of.
Warily, Jalouzi gulped down a breath of fresh air and peeked around the corner of her rock slowly. Her eyes immediately saw the disaster darting her way and just like that, she blacked out.

Fio's eyes squinted against the sand flying past him, he had to keep an eye on the blue! If he kept his eyes on it, it couldn't disappear on him! But as he watched the blue bobble through slitted eyes; it moved!
Bewildered, the male slowed his pace, trying his best to figure out why his bobble was moving. SOMEONE MUST HAVE GRABBED IT! Growling in anger, Fio quickened his pace once more, nearly doubling his pace and reaching his destination rather quickly. What he found when he arrived, was a bit unexpected.
Walking around the passed out lioness, he slowly bent to take in her scent. Predictably, there was nothing familiar about her. Though he now realized his stupid eye sight had again played a trick on him. While the thought angered him, he had a feeling there was something more important that needed to be attended to.
"H-Hey! Wake up!"
He growled, tapping her with his foot lightly.
Having no obvious affect his ruffled his mane in frustration and tried once more. "Come on - get up!"
Still the lioness was out cold, for a moment her wondered whether she had passed on, but the slow movement of her chest told him that wasn't the case. Obviously, he would have to use more unsavory tactics to get through to this lioness.
With one loud breath, Fio let loose a roar that echoed all around them, even causing a few rocks to fall loose from the formation.
That did the trick.

Jolting awake with a start, the lioness immediately pounced to her feet. Clashing heads with the male in the process; loud yelps followed by a quick reassessment of her surroundings brought everything flashing back. She had apparently fainted from fear. Apparently of the lion she had just bumped heads with.
As her eyes began to focus on her surroundings, the male's pelt came into view and she began to back up quickly. Her body trembling in fear as she backed herself into a corner. No longer able to run, she curled up in her corner pleading the lion not to kill her.
"P--Please don't hurt me, i'm not here for a fight. I-I'm just travelling.
I'll leave in peace, i-if that's what you want. Just please let me goo!"

"OUCH!" Fio roared, as he reared back from his current position and into one more defensive.
He could tell from the female's stature that she was extremely scared of him, but for the life of it he couldn't figure out why. Though he wouldn't exactly come out and tell her that. By the look of the trinkets hanging freely from her body, he might just be able to push her around a bit. Perhaps his dry spell was over after all.
"Relax my dear..." He purred, pulling himself to his feet and slowly pacing back and forth in front of the cornered female. His tail swishing back and forth happy and peacefully.
He listened intently as she pleaded for her life. "I think we can arrange ... something..." He flashed her a toothy grin and continued his pacing.
"Those trinkets on your neck ... you see, i'm quite the collector.." He paused, narrowing his eyes to match her own. "Perhaps, I could be inclined to leave peacefully if I were to receive something in exchange.." He reached a paw out to the cowering lioness, and stroked the jeweled twig braided piece around her paw.

Jalouzi's eyes widened in fear as she realized exactly what the male wanted from her. There was absolutely no way she was going to give him her Mother's things - NO WAY IN HELL! The look of cowardice on her face soon transformed into one of anger and frustration. Shaking her head, she finally found her voice. "N-No, I won't give you my items. They have important value to me."
She tried to look the male in the eye, but she couldn't do it. Instead she merely cowered in fear, a shudder like ice running down her spine as he touched her paw. There had to be some way she could get out of her alive, she just had to think. His shadow engulfed her as he paced around her, further driving her crazy.
"W-What if. -" She paused as he glared over at her, losing her voice in the process. "Y-You say you're a collector? W-What if I tell you where my items came from? W-While you can't have mine, the places they come from. Are full of others like them." She tried to force a smile, but it came out as more of a pained expression instead.

Taken aback by the female's answer, Fio let loose a snarl not really meant to scare her. But the added benefit was something he was willing to accept.
With his intent clear his eyes no longer watched the female, but stayed closely observant of her paw. The jewel was of an interesting coloration, and he wanted it for his collection. But as the female continued, it became apparent scare tactics would not work, she was mentally tied to the object. Fio let loose a mental sigh and was willing to admit that his plan had not worked. Until of course, she offered to tell him where the location was.
"Hmmm, how about we take it once step further... you will take me to the location.. After all I can't really guarantee that you'll tell me the truth now can I?" He smiled once more, flashing the female his lady killer look. "If you do indeed take me to the items I seek, I will let you go free." He paused looking over the female once more. "I'll even catch you a little meal. It looks like you haven't eaten in days."

Jalouzi's jaw nearly dropped at the sudden change in her original offer. She hadn't been expecting something so personal from him. He was a stranger, could she really trust him not to kill her at the first chance he got? Did she really have a choice but to trust him?
Judging by her current scenario the answer was pretty clear, but that didn't mean she had to like it. Biting her lip roughly, she watched as he continued to circle her, her mind was racing faster than she could ever have thought it to race before. Then she heard his final offer, and her stomach let loose a loud grumble. Well that had to settle it.
Struggling with herself, Jalouzi found her voice and with one final bout of defeat, gave into his demands.
"Fine. But, if I disappear without a trace, my family will come looking for you. A-And I have a pretty big family." She mocked, allowing her eyes to widen and further the idea she was trying to instill. "So no funny business." She smiled, barely and tried to get to her feet.
It was difficult with all of her trembling, but she finally and managed and in a soft, but audibly shaky voice, she looked up at the male and managed her final words. "Well, we can't really go anywhere if you're in the way now can we?
Move aside and let's get this show on the road."
While not entirely happy with her situation, at least she wasn't in any immediate danger. She would just have to keep an eye on her back the entire time.
