YOUNG GIRL

Name: Lucette Gagnon
Color: #733d1a - Chocolat Royale
Age: 14
Nationality: French Native
Home/Financial Status: Upper middle class, living in the Skye District. Lives in a condominum that she calls a penthouse.
School: Teufel High School - freshman transfer

Appearance: Lucette stands at just under 5 feet tall, with wavy brown hair that cascades down to her mid-back, which is usually tied into a neat bun or top knot accented by a hair piece of some sort. She has bright brown eyes that are always assessing the style of people around her. She has a petite build, and is always dressed in the hottest trend. Sometimes, Lucette will wear non-prescription eyeglasses that are usually more for a fashion statement than anything else.

Also, keeping true to her snotty Frenchgirl persona, her face is always in a face of disapproval, accented by a small frown and a look that makes one question their intelligence.

Personality: At first glance, Lucette seems to be like any other stereotypical teenage girl, obsessed with the latest fashion trends, cute celebrity boys, and make-up, with a hint of a snotty attitude. She seems to be full of confidence with a vivacious nature, demanding to be the center of attention, with a 'holier than thou' personality. Lucette can come off as a bit shallow and harsh at times, especially if she meets people that she considers to be 'average' or 'homely'.

Because of years of bullying when she was younger, she keeps her innermost feelings guarded from almost everyone, and has a hard time placing her trust in others. She has many friends, but none that she would consider her closest friends that she would run to in her time of need. Even though she does not show her inner emotions as easily, Lucette is able to handle stressful situations easier than most people. Since she already relies on herself as it is, when it comes to dealing with dangerous or stressful situations, it is always her and just her. She remains very calm and keeps a straight face, and perseveres through hard times with as much grace and dignity she can muster. Lucette is enamoured with high fashion models, and fashion itself, and wishes she could be like the models that she sees in the magazines. She is very self-absorbed in her appearance, and sets a high standard for herself, which can be quite detrimental with her because she is in fact, very unhappy with the way she looks. It doesn't help that her father is very good at transforming himself to look like a beautiful woman, with only the help of make-up and padding. In her mind, if her father can look as good as he does as a woman, there is no hope for her or any other 'homely' looking girl in the world. As a result, Lucette is not against plastic surgery at all, and sometimes daydreams about going under the knife. Her parents are very against this (especially Pons, and tries his hardest to instill the belief of, "There's nothing a little make-up won't fix!"), especially since she is so young and she is still growing. But, she herself definitely knows that when she's older she will definitely not mind getting a nose job whether or not her fathers approve of her doing so.

Lucette is also very stubborn, and if she wants something done her way, then God damn it, it will be done. The same applies to if she doesn't want to do anything. She very goal-orientated, and she'll work hard to get what she wants. Lucette also plays the honesty game; brutally so, not on herself but on others, if she doesn't like something about you, she'll say it; that shirt doesn't match your shoes, well then here is a snotty French girl to tell you that it doesn't! This doesn't mean however, that she leaves one feeling like a complete idiot. If she can, she'll help one out, and help them find something that may flatter their shape, or make-up tips etc. She actually enjoys helping someone find an outfit that flatters their shape and suits their style. When she lived in France, she would often bring along her junior high school friends to boutiques and dress them up (and herself too!) in many many different kinds of outfits. She's tried to learn how to sew and perhaps create clothes for herself, but she's found out that she is quite terrible at sewing, and would often stab herself with a needle.

She is very fashion forward, and must have the new 'it' item for the season, and is always aware of the trends of the upcoming season. Everything in Lucette's world revolves around designer labels and high fashion, though one wonders how she can afford any of these. It's also a wonder how her fathers don't object to her rather large closet (though sometimes Pons can't help but 'borrow' a few accessories and clothing - if he fits).

Lucette does more than fashion though. Most of her interests stem from her fathers, and has developed a taste for theatre and opera as well as going to art galleries. Her love of theatre was something she's had since a child, when Pons would take her to musicals and plays. She got her taste for art from Arthur, who very much enjoys going to the Louvre (a place that he's been wanting to go to since he was a little boy), as well as her interest in the opera. Lucette likes to read, much like any other person, and has a particular fancy for mystery and thriller novels. She also enjoys playing tennis and badminton, and the occasional croquet recreationally. She's not exceptionally talented in those sports, but she's good enough to hold up her end of a volley. She's gotten to be slightly better than Pons, but still isn't as great as Arthur, who is surprisingly very talented in tennis (it is one of her goals to beat Arthur in tennis).

In school, Lucette's grades are slightly above average (A's to B's, every now and then C's). When she was younger she disliked going to school very much, because of the bullying, but now she likes going to school, because she is able to see her friends, though going to classes is something she doesn't particularly enjoy. Her favorite classes are her music and art classes, and perhaps her history class. She doesn't mind her literature or science classes as much, but she most definitely does not enjoy math or English language classes (though she had to admit her English teacher was quite attractive).

She hates talking about her mother, whom she calls 'that woman', and tries not to think about her if possible. She begrudgingly thinks of her mother when she has feminine biological processes that her fathers can't quite explain properly. Lucette also thinks of her when she is feeling rather down about her appearance, and wonders if her mother is pretty, like her. Yup, you read that right, she sometimes uses her mother to make her feel better about herself ("At least I don't just up and leave my loved ones!" or "She probably left because Mama was prettier than her! Without makeup to boot!"). In the end, Lucette wants nothing to do with her mother, and has no intention of wanting to meet her or get to know her.

History: Lucette was born to Genevieve and Pons in Montpellier, France. Not much happened the first two years of her life, save for her mother walking out on them both when Pons came out of the closet and admitted to being a drag queen. Genevieve, unable to handle that kind of information, without saying goodbye to baby Lucette, promptly walked out on him. She refused to have anything to do with even baby Lucette (whom she cared for dearly before Pons revealed his lifestyle to her), as she saw the child as 'tainted' since she also had a part of Pons' DNA, therefore leaving them both. It should have been devastating for Pons, but he was rather glad she was out of the picture as he wasn't happy with her for all the five years they had spent together.

After another year in Montpellier, Pons packed up his bags with 3 year old Lucette in tow and moved to Paris to further pursue his budding drag career. Using the stage name "Trampe L'oeil", he soon became one of the more popular figures in the French drag industry. When she was 4, Pons met Arthur Harrison, an businessman from the United States that was stationed in Paris. It was simply to say, a match made in heaven, and soon after Arthur moved in to live with Pons and Lucette. Lucette and Arthur became fast friends, and whatever advice that Pons could not give, he could step in place and give advice to Lucette.

Growing up, Lucette was exposed to everything her father did for a living, and thought it was normal for men to dress up as women and perform. She was highly fascinated with how her father, who could look quite masculine at times, could transform into a beautiful and feminine woman. She was always playing dress up with her father's clothes and make-up. Lucette loved it when her father dolled her up, and thought herself to be a princess.

In school however, it was a completely different story. She was mercilessly bullied by her classmates who ridiculed her father and questioned his manhood. The students called both her and her father cruel names, and considered her to be the freak child of the school. It was that constant abuse that transformed her into the closed off and defensive girl she became in her adolescence. It didn't help that her teachers also thought her and her father to be slightly weird as well, as they were uncomfortable with the fact that her father was a 'cross dresser' with an overly extravagant personality. Her elementary school years weren't the best for Lucette, as she barely had any friends at the time. As an escape, she started to look at her father's high fashion editorial magazines, and became engrossed in high fashion and the models. Even at her young age, Lucette could automatically determine what label any expensive dress or accessory was from, and thus developed quite an luxurious taste for fashion, much to the glee of Pons and dismay to Arthur (and his wallet).

Things got slightly better in middle school, when her classmates matured a little, and she attended a school with a bigger student population. She managed to make a few friends, something that she didn't get to experience during her elementary school days. Lucette was unused to this sort of attention that wasn't from her parents, and relished it. But when she offhandedly mentioned her father was a drag queen, she was given weird looks, and the bullying started again though it was mostly from the boys. This time, however, she had a a small group of friends she could fall back on, who genuinely (some of them at least) liked Lucette. She was quite glad for this, though never again would she mention to others that her father was a drag queen; instead she would say that her father was a singer.

It was during her third and final year of middle school that her father was gaining prominence throughout France as Tramp L'oeil and his fame began to spread throughout Europe and into the United States. Arthur's ambassadorial duties in Paris were finishing up as well, and the family was preparing to move to the United States. Arthur was of course delighted, as it was his home country; Pons was also delighted because new opportunities were presented to him that would bring him more fame; and Lucette was both excited and apprehensive because she would be leaving everything she knew and loved about her home behind and would be living in a new country that she could barely speak the language of (Arthur had tried to give her extra English lessons, but those were all in vain as she wasn't the least bit interested because she was already learning it in school).

It was a rather tearful goodbye for Lucette, leaving the few friends she had made behind, as well as the city that she loved so much. At the same time however, she was looking forward to living in America, because that meant that it was a completely new beginning for her, with people she didn't know so she could start things the way she wanted to, and leave her past mistakes behind. Though, she had to admit, America was a bit of a culture shock for her, because it was so different from France. The country was bigger, with food portions that made her head spin, and everything looked like an amusement park to her. She was also surprised by how 'machine-like' some Americans are, who were always going from Point A to Point B, making it seem as if they have no time to sit and enjoy the scenery, and it perhaps explains why some people choose to dress in pajamas or sweats and go out in public.

Family:
Pons Gagnon // Trampe L'oeil (45) - Lucette's flamboyant and rather energetic father. He is a well-known drag performer in France who goes by the name of Trampe L'oeil, and moved to the United States when there were bigger opportunities presented to him. He loves dressing up his daughter whenever the opportunity presents itself. Pons requires that his daughter calls him 'Mama', much to her amusement.

Arthur Harrison (40) - A businessman from the United States, who is the other father-figure in Lucette's life. He has been with Lucette and Pons since she was 4. They both get along rather splendidly, and both Lucette and Pons admire his intellectual prowess. He is also back in the United States now with them, residing in Teufel Town, but regularly returns to France, much to the envy of Lucette.

Genevieve Prevot (??) - Lucette's mother. She left the family when she found out Pons, her husband was a drag queen, among other things. Lucette harbors a resentment toward her mother for not accepting her father for who he is. Lucette doesn't have much of a recollection of her mother, as she left when she was still an infant.

PUELLA MAGI

Language: French!

Desires: She is very insecure about her looks, regardless of how many times her fathers tell her how beautiful she is. Lucette is engrossed in the life of high fashion models, and wishes that she could look like them, especially one particular model she is very much enamoured with. Unfortunately her grasp of the English language isn't as great, and thus by wording her wish wrong, her wish is granted in a way that she didn't expect and want at all.

Emblem: Fleur de lis

Weapon: Duct tape tuck away the heat

Type of Magic: Lucette specializes in illusions, and is able to create images that aren't really there.

•Weapon: Lucette's duct tape is able to somewhat temporarily repair broken objects. She can use it to tape up a broken lance or anything else of the sort, but it is not a permanent fix. It can also patch up weakened barriers and shields, and even help fortify them. When applied, the duct tape takes the form and appearance of the shield or barrier. It is not so much as an offensive weapon as it is a defensive weapon or fortifying weapon.

Unfortunately, the cardboard tubes left behind have no special power. Unless if throwing them aimlessly at a witch counts for anything.

•Magic: She is also able to transform an item to make it look like another, but once it is hit or damaged it reverts back to its old form. It also retains its illusion for at most ten minutes if left undisturbed. She is able to do the same to people but not to the full extent she can do to an inanimate object. She is able to transform herself as well, but can only look like people she knows or have seen, though she is unable to control who it is she wants to look like. Lucette is able to decide what an inanimate object should look like, but is unable to choose what a human or herself should look like.

Outfit: Completely up to the artist! Cause I'm terrible at designing outfits anyways but I was thinking something high-fashion if that is alright u___u

I can't find anything wrong. Her history is unusual, but told in a believable way. I like it! I like her personality too and her puella magi side makes sense.

Hey, your character's wicked. I love Lucette's relationship to her family--especially Pons. Her appearance also depicts intriguing flaws and quirks (love the non-prescription glasses--that's great character detail). On a different note, your writing's entertaining and well-paced! It does your character great justice. Below, find some questions that might show different sides to Lucette and her family:

(When) does Lucette think about Genevieve? How do conversations between her and Arthur/Pons regarding her go?

How does Lucette react to threats, such as the bullying? Flight or fight?

How does culture shock impact Lucette's vision on fashion if at all? Just curious about how a different culture may influence her perception of beauty.

Would she ever partake in cosmetic surgery to feel beautiful? How far would she go?

Overall, I really love your concept. biggrin I hope I get to watch Lucette grow as a Puella!

Ahh! Thank you so much! I'm so flattered!! 8DD

(When) does Lucette think about Genevieve? How do conversations between her and Arthur/Pons regarding her go?
Lucette hates thinking about her mother, and prefers not to think about her at all, if possible. She doesn't want anything to do with her, and if she was to meet her one day, she would probably just walk up and leave.

She thinks of Genevieve when she has feminine biological occurrences that Pons and Arthur can't really help her with nor explain at all that well. She also doesn't refer to Genevieve as her mother, but moreso, 'that woman'.

Pons generally keeps quiet about Genevieve, unless if he is particularly drunk, which is then him just slandering her for being too weak to even deal with Pons' newfound lifestyle. Secretly, he doesn't know why he even married her to begin with, but is glad that he got his wonderful Lucette out of it. Arthur knows about the situation, and treads very, very lightly around the subject. He takes care to never mention anything of that nature first, and tries to divert the subject when it does come up, because no one is left happy afterwards.

How does Lucette react to threats, such as the bullying? Flight or fight?
As a child, Lucette would often cry and say retort back the best she could, which usually consisted of, "Yeah well, your nose is too big for your face!!", but that didn't do much. And she would usually keep to herself and avoid others so a situation like that would not arise. In her adolescence, she's learned the best way to deal with threats is ignoring it, though sometimes its hard to just get up and ignore the jibes. If she does get angered enough though, she won't hesitate to snap back, though she does it in a more dignified and cool manner because that's the way one truly wins an argument, no?

Though now, she takes care to not mention things that may get her back into those sort of situations. It's something she'd rather leave behind and forget.

How does culture shock impact Lucette's vision on fashion if at all? Just curious about how a different culture may influence her perception of beauty.
She surprised by how casual and laidback everything seems to be in America. There are some people who are very fashionable and very dressed up (which is what she is used to), and there are people who are dressed very casually (there are people like that in France, but not this many!! To her at least). She is also awed by the confidence of people who trek out in pajamas and sweats like its no big deal (she finds it quite distasteful at times, however). Lucette can understand it though, because it seems as if people in the United States are always going from Point A to Point B, so she can understand that maybe they do not have the time to dress well before they leave.

It doesn't influence her personal style, per say, but its definitely opened her eyes up some.

Would she ever partake in cosmetic surgery to feel beautiful? How far would she go?
Hmm...that's a great question!! I feel like she would try to get a nose job at the least if she could! But of course her parents would never let her, especially Pons! He would think she finally lost it. He's tried to instill a mantra of "There's nothing a little make-up won't fix" in Lucette, but he doesn't know if she really holds it true. She's still very young, and very rash in her decisions at times, but when she's older and on her own, there'd probably be nothing stopping her from getting plastic surgery. Except for money.

Geko, I love her~ Lucette's so cute! whee Okay, crit time!

I'd like to hear more about Lucette's positive traits. You've done a really great job making her a believable snobby girl, but I'd love to read more about what she's like when she's going something that truly makes her happy. She's good at finding the most chic clothes-- does she have an eye for design? If Lucette could do anything in the world for a day, what would she do? Does she have any leisure activities? I think she sounds like a very realistic character, but I also think that giving us more of an insight into her positives would make her more rounded. E.g., she's more removed and doesn't talk to people about her feelings, but maybe in turn she's able to handle stressful situations more easily on her own/ she's more capable in danger because she relies on herself so much already. But yeah! Oh my gosh, I love her. * u *

Her history is really well put together! :D I'm interested to hear about how she fares in her new school and what her thoughts on American culture are more. What are Pons' plans for his career in the States?

Oh man oh man her wissssh~ I am so curious to see what happens with her! I love her illusion magic-- does it expire within a certain timeframe, or can Lucette sustain it for as long as she wants (provided the object isn't injured)?

Overall, awesome work~! I can't wait to see her in action, Geko! <3

Oh gosh thank you so much Saint! <3
I will try to answer these best I can!

Lucette does have an eye for design! Frighteningly so. Her taste for sophistication and chic-ness balance Pons' rather extravagant and slightly gaudy tastes. She loves to put together outfits for anyone actually. When she lived in France, she would drag around her junior high school friends to boutiques and dress them up (and herself too of course!). But she tries her best to create outfits that would both flatter their bodies and match their personalities, because who wants to dress up in something they're not comfortable in? She's tried sewing, but found out she's quite terrible at it, not to mention that she always stabs herself on the needle.

If Lucette could do anything for a day, she would definitely want to be a model for a high-editorial fashion shoot! at the same though, she would love to be a haute couture designer (though she would die if she looked anything like Yves Saint Laurent or Donatella Versace) for a day as well.

For leisure, Lucette loves nothing more to sit in the sun and flip through her magazines. She also enjoys playing tennis and badminton with her friends and her fathers. She's not exceptionally great at tennis, but she's good enough to keep up a volley.

Oh thank you for the tip! I will try to create some more positive aspects to her personality~ :3

For Pons, his career plan in the US is to keep his drag career going, possibly to even a larger scale than it was in France. Perhaps he could appear more frequently on television, as well as perform alongside famous drag queen from all around the world.

Hmmm...as for her powers, I feel like the illusion would expire after ten minutes or so. I feel if she gets more adept as a puella it would probably last longer, and her illusion powers would be more refined. But I'm not so sure about that as of now!

Thank you so much for your crits Saint! <3

Hey Geko! Here with the crit you requested!

Personality: I'd like to know what Lucette thinks about school, as well as where her abilities outside of sports and fashion lie. What does she enjoy doing with her friends? What does she enjoy doing alone? Does she often invite friends over? She's a well written and believable character though, which is impressive, as writing somewhat haughty characters to be sympathetic is very difficult! I enjoy the Lucette that is presented to me, it's just that I'd like to see more about her life outside of style a bit.

History: The history has a few more points I'd like to be clarified. Why does Lucette's mother leave both of them when she finds out about Pons? What was her mother's relationship with/opinion of her daughter that caused her to beat feet without bothering to bring her baby?

Also, if Arthur is an ambassador to France, how did he and Pons meet, and what was the media reaction to a politician and a crossdressing performer named "Trampe L'oeil" getting together? From her classmates' ractions to her father, his lifestyle must still be considered unusual, so what repercussions did that have for Arthur's career in politics, if any?

"The country was bigger, with food portions that made her head spin, and everything looked like an amusement park to her. She is also surprised by how 'machine-like' some Americans are, always going from Point A to Point B, making it seem as if they have no time to sit and enjoy the scenery, and it perhaps explains why some people choose to dress in pajamas or sweats and go out in public." <- tense switch here

Lucette is a well written girl, and I enjoy how you managed to keep her so believable and empathetic though she has a completely unique history! There were only a few points I was unsure on here, otherwise I think Lucette really packs a punch. <3

Ahh! Thank you so much Kota! You are too kind. <3

Personality:
Lucette hasn't had friends for that long, so she tries to do whatever she can with her friends. She's unopposed to trying new things, especially now that she's in a new country. She has a small fear that she may lose her friends if she doesn't hang out enough with her friends.
Being alone is something that Lucette is accustomed to, but she neither likes or dislikes it. She doesn't mind it, but she would prefer to be interacting with someone whether it be her parents or the cashier at the grocery store.
She tries not to invite her friends over, because she doesn't want people to know that her father is a drag queen. The last two times she announced it, it didn't bode well for her, so its something she prefers to keep quiet. When her friends do want to come over, she usually creates a bunch of excuses as to why they may not come over.

History:
Genevieve also leaves Lucette behind because she thinks that Lucette would also grow up into a 'freak' like her father. She also didn't want to leave with anything that would remind her of Pons, and her daughter would be a constant reminder if she had brought her along. Before she found out, she was very much in love with the baby and Pons, but she sees them both as 'tainted' after Pons admitted to his sexuality.

Oh man Kota, thanks for pointing that out! Seriously, when you mentioned it I sat here and thought about it for a long, long time and there was honestly no way that I could make up a solution for that problem. So I figured the safest way to bypass that is to change Arthur's occupation altogether!
So now he's just a businessman that's stationed in France.

Also thank you for pointing out the tense switch haha. <:
And thank you so much for taking the time to read and crit! I really appreciate it! <3
