Sirpa was most likely a very strange lion indeed. She preferred lush land with lots of rain and water over the savannahs. She was currently lounging in her favorite spot beside a pool of fresh water that seemed to bubble up from below. Her tail swished lazily in the shallows and her hind paws stuck out off the big slab of stone she lay on. It had been a good two days since her last meal. Though that meal had been really good indeed. She had been lucky in finding an old buck wandering close to her pool. It had died shortly after arriving so she didn't have to do any work. Sirpa always kept a close eye on her pool and her laziness sometimes disappeared just to chase trespassers away.

Sungura didn't often leave the pride lands- he didn't like to be too far from Shangwe. however, sometimes it was needed. Couldn't always be around screaming children and the like- it would drive a rabbit insane! So he knew it was fine for him to spend a little bit of time in the rogue lands, just getting some peace and quiet on his own.
He had found a lovely little pool to get a drink from, the tiny hare moving up to the edge of the water without a concern in the world. Though he knew there was a lion nearby, he wasn't afraid. Others of his kind, probably, would have run the hell away at the first sniff of a threat, but he wasn't quite... normal. Jaded, maybe. He didn't see lions as threats. Still, he knew he wasn't at home, and he needed to be a little careful, at least.
So he kept his body tense, on the off chance he would need to run away. Looking over his shoulder, he smiled at the lioness. "Is it alright if I have a drink?" He asked, knowing how possessive some lions could be about their watering holes.

Sirpa had seen the hare coming. She was feeling rather lazy today though her eyes followed the movement, letting the little creature know she was watching. When asked permission, she grinned a rather evil little grin at the hare. "Of course you can." Then she licked her nose and sniffed in the direction the hare was. "You look really tasty little hare. Have you wandered far to get here? Feel free to drink water closer to me if you like." Despite the threat her face portrayed, her body was completely relaxed, tail still swirling in the water. In all honesty, she had no plans to get up and actually try to catch the hare. She was still satisfied after that big meal she had.

Sungura tilted his head. Either he wasn't afraid, or he simply didn't understand the threat. Either way, he offered the other a slight smile. "Well, that's alright- I don't really need to get closer to you to have a drink. The water's lovely from right here. Thank you for the offer, though, and for letting me have a drink in the first place!" He smiled and looked back at the water.
Maybe he needed to be careful. She was relaxed, but...she didn't seem like the lions back in the pride lands. There seemed to be something a bit sinister about her. Something he couldn't put his pad on.
OH well, nothing to worry too much about, right?
"My name is Sungura," he added after a moment, "what's your name? Do you live at this watering hole?" He was just trying to be friendly. No harm in that, right?
Right?

Sirpa waved a paw at him. "Don't thank me or I might have to work hard at being nice to you." Just thinking about purposely being nice, as in actually trying to, made her exhausted. It was too bad that he wouldn't come closer to her though. To be honest, it had been awhile since she had let a prey animal come near her pool to drink. Well, that was lie. She had let many animals come near thinking she was asleep and then she'd open her eyes quickly and laugh as they ran away.
"Sungura huh? I'm Sirpa and yes, this is my watering hole." She felt the urge to be in the water now. Slowly she lifted herself up, stretching her body out. Then she went to a rock slightly closer to the hare that was partially submerged. There she lay herself down with her paws and legs in the water. The water felt so nice. Maybe if she was feeling up to it, she'd make like she was going to eat him after he had his fill of water.

Sungura watched the lioness, though he didn't seem too frightened. From what he could see, she didn't seem to be heading after him. Not yet, anyway. There was no way he was going to let his guard down completely. She was not like the lions he knew from his pride lands home.
He couldn't trust her as well as he trusted the lions back home.
"Sirpa... that's a nice name," he offered, tilting his head slightly to one side, "I don't think I've heard it before. I live in a pride with a lot of lions, so I'm used to seeing some with the same, or similar names. I like yours." He smiled lightly, though it was edged with his nerves still.
This was so awkward- he hadn't even managed to get himself a good, long drink. He didn't want to take his eyes off of the lioness for too long.
So much for being different from other hares.

Sirpa tilted her head back a bit so she could keep both eyes on Sungura. Poor thing still looked like he might run at any moment. She grinned at him, a very toothy, not so friendly looking grin. "Thanks." She found it kind of odd that he lived with lions, like beside him. Maybe he was useful to them somehow.
"If you live with lions, there is no need to be frightened of me. Honestly, I would've eaten you by now if I really wanted to." She swirled one of her paws in the water, scaring some of the little fish that lived in the pool. The fish were pretty used to her though and only scattered if she moved too much. Lucky for them she didn't. Maybe she should get a hare or some other kind of animal to bring her food so she wouldn't have to leave her pool. "Do you help in hunts?" It was truly something she wanted to know.

Sungura imagined she had a point- she didn't need to trick him to eat him. She was a lion after all, and perfectly capable of eating him just because he was a hare, no trouble at all. She was bigger, stronger and much faster than he was. Still, he didn't feel ready to relax. Knowing he was doomed either way didn't really help him feel at ease.
"No," he offered lowly, "I mean, I don't help with the actual hunting part, but I can go looking around to see what animals are in the area. No one runs from a hare, so I can take notes and take the information back to the lions about what herds are in the area."
He smiled faintly, wondering if he was saying too much. But what could she do with the information? It wasn't detrimental to the pride that she learn such a simple thing.
It wasn't like he helped all the time, either.

Sirpa seemed to perk up when Sungura mentioned how he helped the pride of lions he lived with. Her ears swiveled on her head to hear him better, though she really didn't need to. Hard not to hear him when they were not very far apart and the only sound around them was the wind and water. That was useful indeed. Yep, she needed to get herself a hare now or any prey animal really. Of course prey animals didn't run from each other.
She gave him a genuinely happy smile, no hungry grin this time. "Thanks for sharing that. It may prove useful to me. Feel free to come by my watering hole whenever you like." Thanks to that tidbit, Sungura was no an honored guest in her mind. Now he was completely safe. "For answering, I shall never attempt to eat you. I think I'll nap now."
Her eyes slowly closed and her breathing evened out. She had nothing to fear from a hare.

He smiled, though he was a little unsure how to take the invite. She was... very hard to read. And that made him more nervous than he probably needed to be. She didn't look like she was going to attack him, and that meant she was probably good on her word. Still, he didn't like that she seemed very difficult to understand. Maybe there was nothing he could do- maybe he just needed to give up trying to know for sure if she was dangerous or not.
It clearly wasn't working out for him.
"Well, if it does, that's good," Sungura told her with a slight chuckle, "I can't be upset if I tell someone something they want to hear..." He didn't know what else to say- what did you say to someone who was so weird? "And... thank you? I mean, for not eating me. I appreciate that." He nodded when she said she wanted to nap. Like he was going to stop her.
He took the opportunity to head out of there, not even sure if he had gotten his drink of water. Whatever: he was just glad to be heading back to his pride. It was funny how quickly opinion changed.
