Ammon felt a surge of frustration as he stalked a wild gazelle. Despite his usual luck with finding prey he hadn't actually eaten anything in days and his stomach ached with hunger. As he laid there against the hard, cracked ground he realized his chances of catching it were probably slim, despite being a rather good hunter. Something told him that luck was on it's side today rather then his. With very slow and cautious steps--still in a crouched position-- Ammon made his way ever so slightly closer to the creature.

C'mon, be quiet. he thought to himself in earnest.

Who knew when the next prey would wander onto his path. He needed to make sure he was well energized for the journey he was making through these unknown lands if he had any hope of ever tracking down his sister, which seemed to be near impossible. Sometimes he felt like giving up too or at least straying from his goal a little and enjoy the new world he had thrown himself into. Despite having been gone from his pride for a couple months, he hadn't actually let the fact that he was rogue sink in. Although it was beginning to very slowly sink in. Like now. In his pride they the hunters would have went with the trackers in order to feed. Well, that was not always the case. In fact, there were very few trackers--that didn't know how to hunt-- and it wasn't often that a hunter and tracker were seen together, let alone two hunters together. The world he had come from, despite being a pride, was that you depended on yourself and your family. The males would fight in order to find a mate. Whoever was the top male got the best female and it trickled down from there. In fact, it wasn't uncommon for males to have several mates. Although, the King always had the cream of the crop and the most wives.

Ammon held in his longing and anger. Ammon hadn't wanted anything his pride had offered him, however, it had been his home all his life--up until a couple months ago. He shook his head a little and made his attempt at the gazelle. Neck. Go for the neck. If not the hind thighs. He devised the plan in his head.

A small grin was present on the blue lioness' maw. Oh how wonderful this trip was turning out to be. She had found a male who agreed to father her children, both hoping for their own sex's. Ayumu wasn't sure yet if she was pregnant or not as their night together had only happened a couple days before. Her heart hoped that she was but her brain said that it was unlikely. Either way she was heading home to her pride and she would wait there to see the results of her labor. She contemplated trying to spend the night with another male but their pact had been that she would return in a few months time to say if she was pregnant or not. If she slept with another male then it was possible that the cubs could be his and not Thona's--although he had given her a fake name. Had she have known it was a fake name she wouldn't have cared anyways. He had agreed to give her what she wanted and that was all that mattered.

Ayumu's ears twitched at the sound of something running, prey. She also noticed that something was chasing it and with a sniff of the air she found it to be male. Should she take advantage of this opportunity or not? Mentally she decided to follow the males scent but she would not try to con him into sleeping with her. She would wait to see what the night with the leopard had or hadn't resulted in.

Ammon had chased the gazelle for a good mile before he finally caught it. Thankfully he had caught it. He made sure to end it's life as quickly as he could as he didn't want to make it suffer. If he had been on the opposite end of the claw he would have wanted it to at least be quick. As he was a terrible tracker he hadn't noticed the scent of the female lioness approaching and even if he was at least a decent tracker he probably wouldn't have noticed anyways. His mind was on the meal before him and a threat wasn't going to pull him from it. Besides, he was fairly amble, he could handle it.

As he tore into the flesh of the creature he heard Ayumu's light footsteps in front of him and his kill. He never stopped eating but his eyes gazed at her. What could she possibly want? He wasn't opposed to sharing his meal although it wasn't the greatest idea at the moment as he had been starving for days. It was a hard decision and he decided he wasn't going to offer anything. If she asked then he would, if not then he could eat his fill without much hassle. Ammon cleared his throat from the piece of meat that he had been eating.

"Hello." He said with a friendly but guarded voice.

Ayumu reached the male shortly after he had caught his meal and began eating it. She approached silently but with a normal pace. The lioness should have been afraid of a rogue male if she was smart but what would he have done to her? Forced her to lie with him? That didn't seem like a punishment to her. Kill her? That wasn't ideal but it's not like she had anyone depending on her per say. Besides, she was lonely and longed for some company, even if it might have a price.

"Hello." She responded. "My name is Ayumu. I heard you off in the distance and wondered what all the ruckus might be about." A small grin placed itself on her maw once more. She had known the male was hunting but he didn't know that. It was a little lie that would probably get her what she wanted so she played it off.

Her green eyes looked down at the freshly killed Gazelle. Thankfully for him she wasn't hungry as she had eaten just a few hours before. "A fine kill. Despite how it sounded, it looks like you are a good hunter." Ayumu said as her green eyes slowly found their way back to his orange one's.

Ammon took another bite from his meal before he responded. "My name is Ammon." He was surprised that the female openly mocked him but then with her next words he wondered if it had been intentional. Maybe she hadn't at all. Poor guy was now confused. His orange eyes stared into her green one's and he wondered if this was a chance for him to be a bit devious and have a little fun. He'd never spent the night with a female before, though it wasn't like he didn't want to. For some reason or another he hadn't been able to bring himself to do it. As he looked the female over he knew that he couldn't bring himself to do so now. Even if she offered he would politely decline and make up some story of how he had a mate waiting for him and he couldn't bring himself to stray from her or something. Maybe he could say he didn't enjoy that kind of thing.

Gently he shook his gray maned head. He was getting ahead of himself. She could be an innocent lioness and here he was making up a story in his head on how to decline her advances that she hadn't even made yet. It was clear that he was green in the romance department. "I'm not at all good at tracking but hunting. . . Well that's my kind of thing." He admitted to her even though it hadn't been at all necessary. Why had he? What if she intended on attacking him? Knowing that he couldn't track would certainly not help his case. She would deem him an easy target. Then again, maybe he would be to easy for her to kill.

And once more Ammon found himself making up some sort of story for this female, one he knew nothing about. He wasn't one to judge others but he did have a somewhat wild imagination at times which apparently was showing itself to him once more. "Is there something you needed?" Ammon asked with a slightly raised eyebrow.

"Ammon. . . The name suits you." She said with a flirtatious wink. Maybe it wouldn't do any harm to flirt a little with him, see what kind of male he was. She had already pegged him as not being the type to throw himself at her or force her to throw herself at him. So no harm, no foul. "I was hoping to find a little company. I've been away from my pride for a few weeks now and I find that these lands can be rather dull." She said, really laying on the flirtatious voice she had learned over the course of her time in the rogue lands. "I'm heading back now but it would be nice to lay and talk to someone for a while." Ayumu grinned, easing up just a bit on the flirtation. "Would you be willing to spend some time with me for a few hours?" Ayumu asked with genuine curiosity. Hopefully he would say yes. It was a long journey back home and lions or other creatures didn't pop up as often as she would have liked.

Ammon was not at all used to the art of flirtation and it felt weird to him to be under the spotlight, so to speak. In fact, he really didn't know how to flirt himself. He was strong but naive for his age. With a hesitant nod he responded, "I could stay here with you for a while." So maybe she didn't want to spend the night with him. Good because he didn't know if he could say no. Then again, he also had no idea how to. . . Once again he was getting ahead of himself. He took a deep breath in. What could he say now? His orange eyes focused on the scenery behind her. "What brought you here?" He asked, curious to know if she had been trying to run away from her pride or something.

The blue lioness grinned. Ammon had agreed to talk with her for a while and that was all she needed. His question caused her ears to perk slightly and then she smiled once more. "I came to these lands to find a male who would be willing to help me bare offspring. The search turned out to be rather harsh but, what can you do?" Ayumu said, trying to keep herself focused instead of daydreaming about her little escapade. "Why are you out here all alone?" Ayumu asked, equally curious to know why this well kept male was in a place like this. He looked like he belonged in a pride due to how well his coat looked let alone his other features. "Are you out here doing the same?" She asked with a laugh.

The poor male just about gulped himself to death at Ayumu's response. So she was out here looking for a male to help her bare cubs. Maybe he was wrong. Maybe she did want him to spend the night with her. He distracted himself with her question. "N--no." He stumbled to get the words out. To imagine himself as a father filled him with great pride but also great fear. First he would have to find a female who would be willing to give him the time of--night. Then again, he kinda knew that he could from the reactions he had received from the few females he had crossed paths with. "I don't know if I'm ready yet to be a father." Which was partially true.

"So did you find a male to help you?" Ammon asked curiously. This could be a bad question. He hoped she wouldn't take it as an offer but at the same time, she was really really pretty. What was a young bachelor like him to do?

Ayumu held in the laugh at his reaction to her question. He seemed rather nervous about the idea of having cubs or maybe it was that he was nervous over the fact of sleeping with someone. Either way he was adorable. Ayumu wondered if she had not been so determined to have cubs if she would have been acting the same way as him right now. Even when she had begun this journey she had been slightly nervous but the overwhelming need and want to have cubs seemed to toss that under the rug. "I did." Ayumu paused. "Now I am just waiting to see the results. The good news about this union is that we both came to these lands from our prides looking for someone to help us bare cubs. Fortunately for us we crossed paths." Ayumu smiled and even blushed a little. She was being completely open with Ammon about the whole event but that was probably due to the fact that she hadn't had the chance to tell anyone else yet.

In all honesty Ammon found the union of Ayumu with this mysterious rogue male to be odd, however, he also knew that it wasn't uncommon at all for this kind of thing to happen here. He admired the drive and courage she had to leave her pride and come here with just a hope to keep her going. He wondered if one day he could be like her. Ammon's lip upturned into a smile. "Then I'm glad that you two found one another. I'm sure any cubs that result will be glad to have you as their mother." Once more he found something to admire in her. She wanted to have cubs and while his mother had, she had treated him and his sister poorly, let alone his other siblings. Then again, both he and his sister were the disappointing cubs of the litter. Although, his sister was definitely higher on the totem pole. Ammon sighed.

"Thank you." Ayumu said, tears almost filling her eyes as her heart swelled. That was the nicest thing anyone had said to her in a while, maybe even ever. "I hope that I can do them justice. It will be my first time as a mother and, things won't exactly be easy." She smiled a bit. Not only were they going to be hybrids, if the union had resulted in pregnancy at all, but they would be split up. The boys going with their father and the girls with her. Maybe she would allow one boy to stay with her. . . Maybe. It wasn't that she didn't want her male cubs, however, their pride consisted of mostly females and they were the most desired within the pride. At least that was her opinion. And Jukke (Thona) needed males more then females in his pride so it seemed like the perfect pact. Ayumu shook her head. She would not go back on the promises made. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly at the males apparent loss of joy. "Don't worry one day you will be a great father. Maybe you'll find the one or maybe you'll just find a girl like me who was looking for the outcome of spending the night with you." She smiled. "Either way, the cubs you will have will love you and make every moment of it worthwhile."

Even though the lioness had no idea why he was suddenly a little depressed, her compliment and wisdom seemed to be spot on and his mood picked up a little. Maybe it was the fact that one day if he did have cubs they would love him and really make every moment leading up to their birth worthwhile. He wanted to believe it and so he would. Ammon wondered if his sister was a mother somewhere or that she had found someone whom she truly loved and wanted to spend the rest of her forever with. His heart ached but the smile on his maw remained. His determination to find her was renewed and it was all thanks to this lioness. "Thank you." He said with honesty.
