Oh what had she done? Deimos had been missing for most of the day and had not even come back while she had nodded off to make off her last rodent. Which miraculously was still sitting beside her coiled body. Phobos was almost ashamed of herself. What had given her the right to snap so badly at the male snake? Nothing except her stupid pride which was one hell of a bad reason. She rested her head on herself, golden eyes making their way over to the dead mouse's body once more. Maybe she could find him and give it to him as a sort of peace offering.
Would that even work? Would he even accept it after everything she had just said to him? She had yelled at him for being irresponsible and never working for anything. Giving him something wouldn't exactly get her point across while tending to the wound she had given him with her words. Phobos sighed, the entire situation seemed almost hopeless at this point. How was she supposed to make things up to him if her only real method was the thing that had started this entire thing in the first place?! She would think of something. She always did...
It was almost an hour later and the white serpent still hadn't thought of anything she could possibly do to make things up to the darker snake. Maybe the rodent would fix things? Maybe...maybe it was worth a shot? The worst thing that could happen would be that she would be turned away, scorned by him, yelled at and possibly ignored. Phobos' head dropped against her scaly body again as she groaned. It seemed hopeless. Whining about it to herself and rolling in her self-loathing wasn't going to fix anything though! Action would! So the female picked up the dead rodent in her mouth and slithered off of her basking rock as dusk began to fall to go and find Deimos. Black scales glistened in the fading sunlight as Deimos moved continually though the grass. He hadn't even stopped moving to eat through the entire day since he had left the female's presence. Mice had scurried passed him, afraid for their lives and rightfully so if the male had been in his right mind during that time. Instead Phobos' words kept echoing in his mind. 'You're selfish and unreliable, Deimos.' Those words were harsh and hurt more then anything the young adult had felt in his life. How could someone be so...so cruel?! It definitely boggled the poor snake's mind on how Phobos could have been in such a mood that she snapped at his so badly. Oh well...It's not like he could go back after all of that. The situation between Deimos and Phobos had gotten to a point that they couldn't really work well with one another and something like that would just add stress to Ares. That's something he definitely didn't want happened. After all the red lioness had done for him, he definitely didn't want her having to deal with two squabbling snakes while fending off danger.
"Daymuff!" Phobos called out around the rodent in her mouth. Oh where could he be? He couldn't have gotten that far could he? It really depended on how pissed off he was after what she had said to him. The more upset he was, the faster he was likely to move and the less likely he was to stop to bask for warmth. What if he hadn't stopped for bathe in the sun? What if he freezed overnight before she could get to him? Oh why was she getting so worried now? He was just a friend...wasn't he? Of course he was! What else would he be? Certainly nothing more then a friend. That would just be absurd...right? The lady shook her head, nearly losing her grip on the rodent as she did so. No, she would find him, he would be okay and he would accept the mouse. That was how it would likely go, knowing the black snake.
He didn't want to be found and that was the problem at that point. While Phobos wanted to find him, Deimos had no intention in letting the white snake find him. Well, that was if he had even known about her looking for him in the first place. If he had known that, he probably would have moved faster in fact.
Golden eyes traveled over the distance they could see from her low position against the earth. 'Where are you Deimos...' Why did that thought continually run through her head? Why was it so damn important that she find him? Then she saw it, a familiar winding marking along the ground. It had to have been him! Though there were countless other snakes within the grass that covered bits of Africa. It could have been any one of them, but she clung to a faint hope that this particular trail belonged to the reptile she sought to find.
Deimos' large body stopped, curling upward as he looked behind him. Thoughts of everything that had happened up to this point raced through his mind. How could he just give everything up like this? Could he even do something like that? It was easy. No one truly wanted him around. Ares would be fine without him and Phobos would be better off. She had practically already said it to his face earlier that day. With that thought in mind, the serpent laid his belly back against the ground and continued on his way away from the basking rock that Phobos had been using that afternoon.
No matter where he went, Phobos would continue looking for him though. They were clutch-mates, born at the same time and raised by the same lioness. They were practically inseparable up until this point. Despite her harsh words, Phobos would not let the male go. Not like this. Not without some kind of goodbye. Despite him continuing away from her, she continued after him. Unknowing if she would find him or if Ares would be alright without them or if the lioness would look for them as well. It didn't matter that much at this point as the sun had nearly sunk beneath the horizon.
She would find him. She had to.
