Throughout the course of the past couple weeks Junko had managed to work herself crazy. She...had never planned something of this scale before. And then there was the reminder of every time she opened her wardrobe there were several dresses in there that had no actual business being there. Right, that was why she was overworking herself. She wanted to make her proud even if she couldn't actually see it. She wouldn't want Junko to disappoint everyone and herself...
She needed a break. Something fun. Something--a knock at the door startled her, eyes widening and just staring. Most people didn't knock on her door, they just let themselves in. Or they announced their presence in some way. Did anyone text her about coming over? A quick check on her eyePhone told her no, she had no missed texts.
Another knock, somewhat impatient this time.
Junko rose to her feet and warily approached the door, opening it just enough to peek out. Who would be knocking?
...Uh.. "Hello..?" There was no one there! What the hell!
"Ahem!" Came a squeaky voice near her feet. Junko jumped and looked down. Oh! A gnome! That made more sense. Giggling with embarrassment, Junko opened the door more and bent her knees to be closer to the gnome's level.
"Hello! You startled me. How can I help you?"
"This's for you, toots." The gnome shoved a piece of paper in her hands and walked off. Junko blinked. Friggin' gnomes. Rolling her eyes, Junko unfolded the paper and read it over.
..Whoa! No way! Really?! "Ginger..she...SHE LIKED MY RECIPE!" Junko squealed, jumping to her feet and bouncing with joy and excitement. "She liked my recipe! She called me saucy oh goodness! Ohmyjack I have a mentor~!" Another squeal. "Okay! Um..I need...apron! Right! I need my apron..." She stepped into the room again, a long tendril of hair reaching for the apron hanging from a hook on the wall and plucking it off to bring it to the ghoul. "Annnnnd some ribbons to hold my hair back." The ribbons were found in her sleeve. She was so happy her hair moved on its own, it made it so much easier to braid back.
The apron was folded and carried as she bid her minipets goodbye until she returned and hurriedly left her dorm, practically running to the school's cafeteria.
Okay. Not practically. Junko ran.
When she arrived she was very out of breath, her face flushed from having run so far but a huge smile on her face. "Hello, Miss Ginger~!" Junko called out as she entered the kitchen, immediately bending down for a bow. "I got your note! Thank you so much!" She stood straight again, grinning from ear to ear. Best day ever.

"Oh, dearie," Ginger's voice rumbled with gruff good cheer as she seasoned some soup with cigar ash, "...that was quite the hot 'un! Not erry bitty is up to andling them ghostie peppers!" She gave the ghoul a playful swat on the arm. "Now twould be a shame is yer skills and bravery in kitchen arts went untaught, so ol' Ginger'll have the mentorin' of yas. Be ye ready fer a lesson?"

Junko giggled, clapping her hands together just under her chin and bouncing on her toes. Her hair began to move, twisting and wrapping around itself behind Junko in a tight braid; it was too long to be the buns she would put it in before, but she could at least tie it back and out of the way. "Thank you! I must admit the first time I tried handling them it was kind of scary. I'd heard stories. But they're not so bad if you do it right!" Ohhh! This was so exciting! She squeaked as she was swatted, playfully batting at the hand that had touched her.
As Ginger officially announced to be her mentor Junko squealed with excitement, bouncing on her toes. "EEEEEEE! OhmyJackthankyouthankyouthankyou!" This. This was what she needed. It was different, it was something just for her. Nothing was expected of her, there was no pressure. This was just her and someone who liked her, someone who wanted to help her with something she enjoyed doing.
"Oh yes! Yesyesyes!" Junko replied as she reached back to tie the ribbons around her hair, that extra precautionary measure just in case. She'd learned in their first lesson that she had too much hair for a net..and back then her hair only reached her elbows. No way in Hell was there a net big enough now. She pushed her sleeves back, using the extra ribbon to tie them in a way that would keep them from getting in the way as well. "Okay! I'm ready now! What first, Miss Ginger?"

"Well, poppet, I think ye'd best be startin at the beginnin' like. The very most basic o'cookin. So we'll be goin' to visit about the Scarefari lands, and ye'll trap yerself a nice bit o'minipet." The lunchlady turned off the stove, the pot upon it giving a relieved shudder as she put on a coat, some slippers, and a large, heavy bag which she handed to Junko. Inside it lay several traps and camping supplies. "Then'll have 'rselves a nice lil' cookout, n' I'll show ye sommat nice for when ye be feeling tired n'ungry out n' the wilds." The large woman beamed at Junko and lit a fresh cigar. the ooc Ginger and Junko are going into a place of Junko's choosing in the scarefari! Set up some traps in the actual scarefari so we know Junko will be working with!

The Scarefari was a surprise. It wasn't that Junko was opposed to using certain kinds of minipets in her recipe, she was just surprised to be going to the Scarefari. The minipets she used were usually already prepared for cooking use. She'd never had..fresh minipets before. She watched Ginger, head tilted to one side. Huh. Okay! She took the bag, squeaking and nearly falling forward on her face when the weight of it surprised her. Oh Jack!
The Mistress laughed at her expense, Her voice muffled by Junko's braided hair. Junko pouted back at Her. Stop that!
Finally the bag was heaved up, something that Junko put a lot of effort into. Heavyyyyyyy! "A cookout? Okay!" Junko followed Ginger along, paying her cigar no mind for the moment. It didn't smell terrible, she would tolerate it. Besides, she was too busy with the heavy bag to be concerned about the smell. She didn't go to the Scarefari much, she wasn't exactly a ghoul known for roughing it, so as a result she knew..practically nothing about it. She had to stop at the map by the lodge to even think of a place to go!
The dark forest sounded promising, and it was close. She could put the bag down soon.
When they arrived she set about constructing a few traps, five of them, placing a set of enchantments on them before backing away. "That should do i--" Two of the traps went off. Junko blinked, turning around.
How...how did a trap catch a mushroom and sand. Junko just stared, plucking the mushroom out of the trap. "Huh..I caught something~." She smiled back at the large woman, setting the mushroom aside for later. Junko reset the traps and backed away again, humming cheerfully. "What'll we do while we wait?"

"O' tis a nice sickly mushroom, then, it is? Has a good strong flavour, jes be sure not to let it stew o'er long with yer meal. Five minutes in th'pot and then toss it out." Ginger nodded sagely before settling her girth daintily upon a rock, "Gather up wood to make yer fire, an'keep a look out fer herbs an such fer th'meal. In th'meantime, tell ol'Ginger here a bit more about yerself."

Junko's eyes widened and her mouth formed a small 'o' as Ginger instructed her on what could be done with a sickly mushroom. Really?! She always assumed they were bad to use because they were...sickly! She was definitely going to keep this and try it out! The mushroom was carefully put in the bag for safe keeping before she joined Ginger. She found a nice log to sit on, taking off her apron and folding it underneath her to sit on to keep her skirt clean. Or..not. She gave Ginger a doe-eyed look. Gather..wood? Make a fire? ...Manual labor. Junko hesitated but did comply without too much time wasted. She nodded, getting up to start finding wood. She really wasn't used to this whole outdoorsy thing. "A-about myself? Um...what would you like to know, Miss?" She blinked. Usually when people wanted to know something about her they asked questions. They didn't tell her to just..talk. Her lips pouted thoughtfully as she tried to think of how to begin. "U-um...I'm seventeen, and my birthday is the eighth of tenth October, I'm a futakuchi-on--oh, wait. You knew that one already. Um..I'm Vice President of the student council? Er..well...I guess I'm president now that the current one i-is...uh.." She nearly dropped her wood, quickly catching it all up again before setting it down by Ginger. Uhhh, now what? She looked up at the lunchlady with a slightly lost expression. Help?"..How do I make a fire? I've never..." She looked down at the sticks. How do I fire. It is a mystery. Nevertheless she continued on. Ginger wanted to get to know her. "I love to sew! My mother is a seamstress, she taught me everything she knows. I've learned a lot since then too. My best friend Lizzy and I want to start our own clothing line! A whole business!" She grinned again. "I do a lot of cooking and baking too. I've basically had to prepare my own meals for as long as I can remember. And I've been making the food for a lot of school events! Liiiike the Terror Warrior stand, last year's prom, Scarentine's..basically anything that needed food I was happy to provide!" What else would Ginger want to know.. She heard a couple traps go off and she jumped to her feet, wandering over to check them. "A boot, and coal." She pouted. How was she catching these things? The boot, sure. Someone must've lost their shoe in here and gotten away before she could see them. The coal..? Weird. The traps were reset and she returned to Ginger, pouting. She'd catch a minipet soon! She was sure of it! ((SORRY FOR THE DOUBLEQUOTE NOTICES I'm keeping track of what Junko's traps catch QQ - Blue Mushroom - Corrividus - Scareon - Lil Oink - Piggles))

The lunchlady nodded as Junko spoke about herself, issuing praise and encouragement at every turn. At the mention of fire, Ginger chuckled and pulled out a tiny little bomb minipet from the mysterious depths of her hair. "Yeh c'n go about 'n any number o'ways dearie. Fer now, jess let this lil'fellow gnaw on yer tinder an' get yerself a good flame goin' while yeh decide what ta do witcher catches. Won't always be a fire pet on hand, though dearie, so yeh best figger out what ye'll do in such times, eh?" The bomb bobbed down and started biting on the stick, making little growling noises as it played, slowly growing in size. "Now yeh need to prepare what ye've caught. Supplies r'in the bag." Eight Now's the time for Junko to plan and start preparations on her meal! For each step in the preparations, roll 1 d6 to determine her success. 1 being a horrid mess of things, 6 being a very excellent job. These rolls can be together in one post, or separately!

Junko stared, eyes wide. How did her hair not catch fire with that minipet in her hair? Ginger was amazing. "Um, yes ma'am." She replied in an awed tone, holding her hands out for the bomb until it took it upon itself to hop down and start gnawing by itself. Her hands fell to her lap and she watched it. She never knew minipets could do things like this! The growling was adorable! Junko giggled, offering up the sticks in a neater pile for it to play with. She heard several traps go off then and she jumped, squeaking a bit and getting up on her feet again. What did she get?!
A blue corrividus flapped unhappily in one trap, a blue mushroom near one of its feet. In another trap squealed an unhappy Lil Oink, a Piggles snorting in another, and finally an unconscious scareon. The first three she could definitely use, the mushroom too. The scareon? She might just let that go unless Ginger had a suggestion for it. "How do I.."
"Knock them out. Like the scareon." Junko blinked.
"Wh-what?"
"Take a rock and hit them in the head. It's not hard."
Junko stared down at the minipets. Just...what? Knock them out? She glanced back toward where she'd left Ginger. She'd be expecting her back. Okay, fine. Junko sighed and bent down, picking up a rock and slowly approaching the minipets. "Um..sorry...n-nothing personal?" She'd never cooked live ones before. The rock connected with the top of the corrividus, oink and piggles' heads and they each flopped over unconscious. Not dead..good. Junko freed the minipets from the traps and collected them in her arms, the mushroom as well. She then hurried back to her mentor.
"Ginger! Ginger, look~!" Junko called out, proud of her catches. They were put down by the growing fire, still unconscious. Prepare? Um..okay. She grabbed the bag and began to dig through it. What to do, what to do. There were pots, pans, spoons, knives, a few herbs and spices. Condiments. Ohh, a cutting board! Good, she didn't want to cut on the ground or something.
She eyed the large pot. She heard running water nearby...she could fill it with water and...perfect! Junko stood, letting Ginger know she'd be right back and wandering off to find the water. It was a nearby stream. Perfect for filling the pot...? Apparently yes. It was difficult to carry but after pouring the excess out she was able to lug it back to the site. "Is a meat stew okay?"

((First die - Corrividus Second die - Lil Oink Third die - Piggles Fourth die - Scareon))
Junko grabbed the cutting board and a knife, rolling back her sleeves and setting up a makeshift tray with a wire stand she found in the bag. It folded up and was light to carry, it also fit nicely over the open fire. Humming cheerfully as she got to work, Junko picked up the first minipet: the corrividus. These feathers..she'd never worked with a fresh minipet before. She usually bought her meat packaged and already prepared where all she had to do was add it to the recipe. The feather plucking was okay, it wasn't pretty and she didn't get them all but it was better than nothing. Um..what now? A wary look was given to Ginger before she picked up the knife. Was this the next step? She looked down at the corrividus, swallowing hard and biting down nervously on her lip. Okay..so just...how..? Did she cut down the middle? She turned the corrividus to lie on its back. Did she just..cut...?
Apparently not. She tried cutting down the middle and blood spurted everywhere. Junko squeaked and jumped back away from it, making a slight face and letting the blood let up a bit before leaning in again. She peeled away the skin, trying desperately not to make any unhappy noises. Groooooossssss! The Mistress laughed from underneath her braid. Junko pouted back at Her.
Okay now what? Um..o-oh dear! There were bones. She broke them with her hands, pulling them away from the corpse. Nope..not...er. Oh dear it took some meat with it. That was meat, right? She tried to pick it away. It fell apart in her fingers. Junko pouted, cutting away at a bit more skin. In the end it was a complete and utter mess. Barely any of the meat was usable. Ugh. It was gingerly placed on the tray above the fire. Next came the Lil Oink. She'd learned from the mistakes she made with the corrividus, plus it was easier to cut up. The meat was much better this time and placed on the tray beside the bits of corrividus meat. She might just give up with that, honestly.
The piggles went just as well. Looks like they were having pork stew! That was okay!
The scareon had her confused. She'd never cooked scareon before. Not ever. How do they even work? Were they just...er..any similar to the piggles at all?
Apparently not. It was dead, so dead. The meat wasn't even usable. Junko sighed and cleaned up the mess. The knife, the board, her hands. They needed to be clean to handle any food.

((Cooking the meat First die - Corrividus Second die - Lil Oink Third die - Piggles))
Junko hummed cheerfully, grabbing a fork and keeping a close eye on the meat. The piggles meat was apparently too sensitive. It didn't cook well.
In fact it fell through the spaces in the tray and into the flames.
Welp. That's that.
The corrividus? Crispy. There was a burn here and there but it seemed edible. It would add flavor! But the Oink's meat seemed to be perfect. The meat was all set in a pan and put to the side. The pot was then picked up and put on the tray. Oh good, it didn't wobble. Now to just..pray it didn't overboil. She'd never boiled water over an open flame...
