It was a causal day at Amity; no classes, no homework, no random minipet babies, and no work for once. She'd stopped by work anyhow, just to grab a quick drink - regular house blend, no cream or sugar. It wasn't a froo froo drink kind of day, to be honest. It hardly ever was anymore, what with Mort and Belladonna hooking up, and the whole Horseman incident. Maybe things would get better soon, but today? Today was a black coffee day.
Back on campus, she was sitting and sipping under a gnarly old oak who may or may not have been an Ent, due to the odd groaning noises it would make from time to time. She didn't mind, and would occasionally groan back in jest. The tree seemed to like it.
When a dreadlocked Reaper passed by, Gene was immediately curious. She liked his hair! Guys with that kind of hair were usually laid back and chill, and boy did she need some chill. "Hello! Hi! I'm Genevieve, Amity's resident doppelganger. Who're you?' She fell into his pace, giving him her best smile. Please don't be creeped out.

Thanatos had made a quick trip to the Maul for some Fear-batteries, which might explain why his familiar wasn't with him, since the ones in his room somehow vanished, and the fur shavers needed new batteries. And thankfully for Gene, he had experienced weirder things than being randomly approached by strangers, and didn't really express too much surprise when he was suddenly joined by a ghoul.
"Thanatos Clotho," He replied, turning to look at her with a grin as he politely bowed his head, "Although I believe that we've met before, Genevieve, in that one class held a long time ago."

The ghoul's brow tightened, then raised in sudden realization. "Yes, we have! I'm so sorry for not recognizing you! I believe you told me my summoning circle was a good one. I don't remember much else from that class." She continued walking alongside him, not too sure as to where they were even going, or what she was really doing. She just...needed to talk to someone, and get her mind off things.
"So...what's in the bag?" A simple question, but it could lead to some kind of adventure. That's how these things played out, right?

"It had been a while," He laughed; to be honest, he didn't really remember too much from that class either, just bits and pieces, and a few faces. When asked about the bag, he held it up, "Ah, just some Fear-batteries I needed." He paused, raising an eyebrow at the ghoul, "Since you seem intent on following me, perhaps you would like to help me with a little minipet grooming?"

"I would love to!" She hadn't misses a beat, and continued following Thanatos. Was she being a creeper? Maybe. He seemed okay with the whole thing though, so Gene wasn't going to make a huge mental deal out of it. "What kind of minipets? I'd have never took you for a groomer."

"Oh, but I'm not a groomer," He replied, grinning at the ghoul, "You'll see when we get there." It would seem like he wasn't going to say anything else on the topic.
It wasn't long before they got to his room in the Reaper Dorms, the faint sound of yelping coming from behind it. Once the door was pushed open, Gene would be met with the unliving room; it had a couch and an armchair around a coffee table to the side, a corner for the kitchen, and two rooms connected to it. One of the rooms - presumably the bedroom - had a closed door, but the other room was open, and... Filled with pure white Ink Foxfires, some of which looked like they were recently shaved. There was a minipet gate attached to the doorway to keep them out of the unliving room, but it was short enough for most people to step over.
"Ladies first," He chuckled, gesturing at his room, inviting Gene in; at once, the foxfires started to bark, excited that there was a guest. Some of them were pressed up against the fence, tails wagging rapidly.

The first thing Gene noticed upon entering the Reaper's room? He had a good sense of home decor. She took everything in, eyes the coffee table especially. Why she didn't have one of those was a mystery to her, and she told herself to buy a nice one with the next paycheck.
Gene's face turned into an expression of giddy delight as soon as she heard the barks - foxfires. Cute, cuddly, puffy-
Except these ones weren't puffy. They were shaved like little...what did the humans call that type of dog? A poodle? Yes, they were shaved like little human world poodles. It was endearing, but...
She went to the pen anyway, and held out a hand for them to sniff.
"So...this is what you mean by grooming, huh?" She quirked an eyebrow, intrigued, and a little confused. Why would anyone take away the poofiness of a foxfire? Surely he had a reasonable explanation.Dragain Eep, sorry this took forever. ;;

Yap yap yap yap- Immediately, Gene would find herself swamped by numerous foxfires - rather naked foxfires, not that they seemed to mind the condition that their fur was in - pushing and squirming against each other in an attempt to be the first to sniff the stranger's hand. Some of them decided to run in circles in front of her instead, inviting her into the pen while occasionally bumping into each other.
"It is rather therapeutic," He laughed, stepping over the fence before holding out his free hand towards the ghoul, since his other hand was still holding onto the bag, "Although I suppose you should try it for yourself."Carhop Calvalier NO WORRIES I am all the busy with school OTL

Taking the offered hand, Gene lightly stepped around and over the yapping foxfires as best she could; but there was no doubt in her mind that she had stepped on a few tails. They would get over that...right? Right.
"Therapudic, huh? I just try to bake when I get stressed, but that gets me more stressed... then I just drink coffee and take a nap. But, you know, different strokes for different blokes." She wasn't being rude in tone - pleasant, actually - she was just surprised at Thanatos' form of therapy.
"How did you realize this was therapudic?"

If Gene had stepped on any tails, the foxfires were not showing it. They continued to look up at her with happy, excited little OuO faces.
"You bake? Ah, but why do something that stresses you out in order to relieve yourself of stress?" Thanatos chuckled, walking her over to two the side, where there were two grooming tables hidden behind a curtain. Releasing her hand, he bent down to pick up one of the foxfires at his feet, leashing the fluffy thing to one of the tables.
Almost immediately, it stopped jumping up and down, although it did walk in circles around the table.
"I needed their fur for a little project, and instead of getting someone else to get it for me, I decided to do it for myself. It came as a surprise that something like this could be therapeutic," He replied, working to replace the batteries of the shaver before turning it on. Immediately, there was the soft sound of buzzing in the air, "It was easy to pick up." He held onto the foxfire's back to keep it still, and then ran the shaver down its body. After he was done, he switched the shaver off, and dusted the loose fur off his clothing.

Gene was distracted momentarily by the Foxfires - they were just too freaking cute. She wanted to pinch their little cheeks off and snuggle them and use them as a pillow and-
Oh, right, conversation.
"Well, I'm trying to get a little bit of skill in baking; I'll need to know how to do it when I open a cafe." She leaned on the table that didn't currently have a Foxfire on it, and watched Thanatos as he shaved the ball of fur.
Surprisingly, it wasn't cute anymore. Her nostrils flared and nose scrunched up, no longer seeing the appeal in Foxfires. But, different strokes for different blokes.
"Well then...seems easy enough." She took a shaver in hand, and put one of the batteries in the device. "What do you say we make a competition of it? Whoever shaves the most Foxfires in a minute wins."

"Is that your aspiration for the future, then? A cafe?" Thanatos asked casually, raising an eyebrow at the ghoul; he never expected her to be someone who wanted to open a cafe, not that he knew very much about her, "To lower your stress levels, perhaps you should approach someone with the skills and know-how, and is willing to teach." It was a harmless suggestion.
"... You want to make this a competition?" He asked, pausing for a whole 5 seconds - as if waiting for Gene to say that she was just joking - before he started to laugh, offering her a grin, "I am not opposed to the idea."

"You're on." Gene got a playful grin and turned the shaver on. She grabbed one of the fluffy creatures by its tail and shaved it, nearly perfect. This was easy!
"Yeah, I've wanted to open my own cafe ever since I started working at the Bloodbucks in the maul. I actually want to buy out that store, and refurbish it; make it more inviting and less wanna-be Hipster, you know?" She effortlessly picked up Foxfires while she talked, giving them near perfect shaves. It was like she was meant to do this - or maybe she was just good at incredibly mundane tasks.
"Would you happen to know anyone who's good at baking? I may just have to get lessons if my next attempt at baking fails. Who knows." She shrugged, inadvertently dropping the shaver and having to scramble for it.
That cost her some time.

Thanatos was, actually, not going any faster than he already was. Instead, he went on at his usual pace; competition or not, he enjoyed doing this, and wasn't one to rush through things anyway.
"Ah," He replied, chuckling softly as he continued shaving the foxfire that was currently leashed to the table, "It would be easier to refurbish than to start out from scratch... Besides, an old store would probably already have its share of loyal customers. So long as you can maintain the standard of the food and beverages served, I am sure that you will be able to keep those customers."
At the question, he paused briefly, "Perhaps? There is a baking club in school that might help."

"Oh? We have a baking club?" This honestly surprised the Doppelganger; how had she not known? Brow raised, Gene looked at the amount of Foxfires she'd shaved compared to the boil. She had more! Smirking, she picked one up and stroked its back, noting that the feeling of the animal's bare skin wasn't all that bad.
"Well, looks like I won. How about, as my winnings, you promise to eat at my cafe' once a week when it opens? Deal?" She stuck her hand out, beaming. So that way, I'll have another loyal customer!"
