 Kerensa wandered through the park, listening to the melodic chirps of the birds, and enjoying the slight breeze that ruffled her fur on this warm spring day. She loved days like this, days when she could forget about the accident from her past that haunted her in her dreams. Smiling, Kerensa began to sing softly. The song was one of the few things she remembered from her childhood. "Oh, to fly like a bird, on soft feathered wings. To see from above, take a new view of things. If I were a bird, I'd sing and be free. How beautiful, so beautiful, the songbird can be."

 Sparrow was doing his usual thing. He was sitting under the shade of a tree, chatting to the birds above him. His ear twitch slightly as he heard a tune. It wasn't Birdsong... but something as equally beautiful. He whistled along to it. When it ended he looked around. Who was singing?

As she had been singing, Kerensa had almost not noticed the sound of someone whistling her tune, but faint as the sound was, it was still recognizable as the same song. Her ears perked up, trying to pinpoint the other's location by the sound, but she couldn't quite find the whistler. Deciding to look around more carefully, Kerensa wandered around some more, until she spotted another Zune beneath a tree. She began to approach him curiously. wondering if he could be the one who had whistled her song, but stopped short of him by a few feet when her shyness took hold of her. It wasn't unusual for someone to whistle along to singing, but it made Kerensa suddenly wonder about her past. Did the other Zune know the song from before, perhaps from somewhere in her past? Or had he simply learned the tune because of her singing it now?

Sparrow was still stunned over the song. He was able to find the location of which it was coming from. He whistled the tune, hoping the singer would return the call. He had heard the melody many years ago. He never heard the words before though. He ended the melody and froze. Listening closely.

She had finally shaken off her nervousness, when she heard the whistling again. From the sound being louder now, she was almost positive the Zune under the tree was the one whistling. Did she know him? Perhaps. She just couldn't remember. With that thought in mind, Kerensa decided to go ask. To calm her nerves more, she sang once again, in a louder and clearer - but no less beautiful - voice, as she walked toward him. "Oh, to fly like a bird, on soft feathered wings. To see from above, take a new view of things. If I were a bird, I'd sing and be free. How beautiful, so beautiful, the songbird can be."

He stared into the green eyes of the girl who just reveled herself to be the owner of the beautiful voice. He gulped and stepped closer to her. "Y-you have a beautiful voice..." He heard the birds chirp excitedly. He looked up into the trees and muttered. "...Even they are jealous."

Kerensa glanced briefly at the birds in the branches above, then turned her attention back to the male Zune. Smiling at him and blushing slightly, she replied, "Thank you. I don't usually sing when others are around though..." Reminding herself in her head why she was over here, Kerensa added, "I learned that song from someone long ago... Though I can't recall who taught the melody to me, I still remember the words. I actually wondered if - if maybe I know you?"

He thought long and hard. He had overheard the melody when he was a kid in this area. He was hiding in the bushes and had heard it. But he was to shy and scared to peek out to look. He lowered his head and shook his head No. "I'm sorry... I don't." He felt bad that he was about to let the girl down. Should he tell her how he heard it?

Noticing that the male seemed disappointed, Kerensa decided to try and cheer him up. "Hey, it's fine. I don't mind that I haven't met you before. But since we don't know one another after all, maybe proper introductions would be a good place to start. I'm Kerensa. At least, I call myself that now. I don't even know if it's my actual name, but I do know its a name which means love. I go by Ren too if you'd prefer to call me that." she replied with a smile, then added "And what's your name?"

He let a small smile cross his face. "Sparrow." He wanted to tell her a little human girl had named him but his shyness was getting to him. His little wings flapped oddly and his tail weaved around his feet. "I like Kerensa.... It's nice." He nodded. His name was so simple a didn't mean much. But hers meant love, and she was pretty.

"Thanks! And I think the name Sparrow fits you, considering how well you can whistle and that you have wings. Can you fly with those?" Kerensa responded, motioning at Sparrow's wings curiously. "I've never met a Zune with wings before."

He looked back at his wings. He never really considered them as something special. "Well, I suppose I could. I never learned how to fly." He shuffled awkwardly. "My Dad was an 'angelic', my mom was a normal, like you. My dad left her, so I never learned." Because of that Sparrow rarely trusted others.

"Ah, I see. At least you had your mom though. I don't even know who my parents were, or where I'm from. Almost all of my childhood memories are lost... Some kind of accident happened I think." Kerensa replied somewhat sadly. Shaking her head as though to clear her thoughts, she turned back to look at Sparrow. "I try to move on from the past. The future looks much brighter that way."

"I'm sorry to hear that." He lowered his head and his ears flicked back. He saw she looked a little sad but she looked on the bright side of life. He liked that. "You... must like birds then. Right?" He looked up with a hopeful expression on his face.

Kerensa giggled. "I do like birds. I like them very much!" she assured him, smiling warmly. "I even like to sing to them when nobody is around sometimes. And the song I was singing earlier, I made the words for it after I watched some baby birds learning to fly. It was very inspiring to see them testing their wings and refusing to give up no matter how much practice they needed." Her tail wagged, showing her happiness as she remembered her encounter with those birds.
