As it happened, the clerk at the front desk of the hotel had been very helpful, producing what was practically a catalog of options for guests who felt like making shopping part of their trip. And one of those options had been an actual mall, right on the Strip itself, not very far away from the hotel. Jordan guessed he should have expected that. Tourists liked shopping.
The mall itself was a weird, sort of futuristic structure, but inside it could have been any other mall; tilted towards the expensive side of the mall scale, grandly decorated, but still, just a mall. Familiar enough. "One of the department stores should have what we need," Jordan said, and skimmed the list on the directory near the entryway. "Macy's?"
Ferros was alert and interested, fascinated again by the bustle of people and the various shops and kiosks. It's so not spooky, the dragon said. Humans are weird.

The changing of the gear, B0nez noted solemnly. Ask Jordan something.
"B0nez wants to know what kind of stat bonuses Macy's has."

It was weird being back in the real world again. Well, relatively real, Vegas was about as real to him as any other place he thought he would never get the chance to visit.
He wasn't so much walking behind the others as outright sulking, dragging his feet and walking with the sort of arms crossed slouch that would make a teenager proud. He hated clothes shopping, and he hated Jerry.

"Macy's would work," Jerry nodded, oblivious to the discomfort of his friends. It had been nearly six months since he'd been able to get new clothes. Even the nice ones Candace had bought him for Christmas had since been a bit... chewed up with all the missions. "A new suit and a fresh shirt would probably make me a lot less of an eyesore, huh?" He laughed, opening his jacket to pat at the torn pocket of his old suit jacket. It had not fared well in the past few months. Limping quickly to keep up with the others, his leg was already starting to ache as they crossed the mall grounds. He gave a low whistle, "A bit of a step up from Market-East here, I'd say."
The drink of bourbon before they had left at least had left his face a bit flushed and smiling. He wasn't DRUNK, alright? But he did have a nice, satisfying buzz. Ooooh, he missed it. This was going to be a great party.

"Stat - uh," Jordan considered the question, and finally settled on, "it's a social stat boost, helps you interact with NPCs." He grinned sideways at Harrison, glanced back at Rep; his look turned a little worried at the sullen expression on Rep's face.
He wasn't commenting on Jerry's appearance. He did say, "I reserve the right to veto terrible ties."

Sidequessssts, B0nez said.
"We'll keep it strictly classy and boring. For the MVPs." Even Vegas was normal in comparison to what they usually dealt with. "...Haven't been around this many living civilians in over a year," Harrison commented. "Hope they appreciate all we've been doing. You're welcome," he told a random passerby, a little loudly.

"Don't worry, I have excellent taste in ties," Jerry beamed, but glanced over to the side as they made their way through the rows of clothes, umbrellas and accessories. He paused as the others kept walking, hobbling to the side to investigate.
A few ties but not the main display, some watches, ladies hats, umbrellas, and a display of canes. He pursed his lips at the thought of the necessity of that sort of accessory but... looking them over, he found a simple (and cheapish, considering he was borrowing the money for now) dark-wood crooked cane, slipping it out to measure it's length. A little short. He tried another one. That one felt better... Smiling now, he gave it a few experimental steps, and was relieved that even that few pounds of pressure off the bad leg really made the difference. "Ah.. wait up!" He practiced the timing. Oh, the difference!

For his glance, Jordan got a very even and moody stare. It was just great he'd invited his friend along.
As he rejoined them Rep looked wholly unimpressed at Jerry's choice of walking aid and snorted to himself. "Some people just can't help but dress like a ******** molester."

Awkward. Decidedly awkward. Jerry did need new clothes, but it was uncomfortably clear that his presence was causing a tense strain in the group. Jordan's eyes flicked between the other three. This was not a good way to start the evening. He needed to do something about it.
"Hey, Jerry," he said casually. "Why don't we get your stuff first, since you know what you want? Then you can go on back ahead of us. It might take a little longer to figure out Harrison and Rep's stuff." A clench of guilt, even as he said it; Jerry was his friend, and sending him away wasn't a particularly nice thing to do. On the other hand, having him hang around might be equally unkind. Jerry wasn't going to notice the growing tension until it hit the point of outright hostility, and he was more than likely to accidentally provoke Rep. The two of them were like oil and water. Or maybe sodium and water.

"You oughta pick up some mousse, too," Harrison suggested, giving crowd harassment a break.
He nudged Rep with his elbow. "What're you so grumpy about?"

Jerry's smile faded a bit. He knew that sort of talk. It was the story of his life, really, all the way up through school. "Y-yeah... uh. Sure." Third wheel- or he supposed fourth wheel in this case when only three were wanted.
Should go hang with that Clerise ghoulie anyway. Maybe she'll letcha' touch her abs.
"Sh-shut up, Roar," He mumbled, trying to scan the racks for something usable. Get it over with and get out of there.
He hadn't even said anything about the cane.
His hand dug into his pocket, fingering the mini bottles still nestled there.

Jordan winced. Annnnd now he felt like even more of a tool. Good job. "I like the cane," he offered, trying to soothe the sting a little. "Very vaudeville." Better than asking whether Jerry's leg was really troubling him that much.

"You heard Jordan. Best behavior. Plus we're in Vegas, and considering the occasion we got every license to make sure the city lives up to its nickname. After we got shopping out of the way we got a whole night of tigers and gambling and strip joints."
He grinned.
"And teasing Mr. I'll Only Have Water And Go To Bed Early. No lapdances," he snorted.

"Thanks," He mumbled, tapping it on the ground a little, "I... I thought so," He forced a smile, but picked up the pace to close in on a circular rack of suits on sale. "I'll um. Save the receipts so... so I know what I owe you. Um. Thanks again." He quickly scanned for something in his size, finding a brown suit that struck his fancy. The fabric was nice enough, and it was a three-piece. He could rock the vest, he figured. Get something to get changed into and get out of there.
Maybe Dakota would spot him a drink or six.
"What about this one?" He pulled it out and held it up with a hopeful smile.
