Let's get one thing straight, shall we? Heath...didn't particularly like being in the city. His natural habitat was the forest, with trees and rocks. In the city, he was a little more vulnerable and Heath would rather not be in that situation. However, there are some things you can only ever get in the city - like clothes. Who knew suddenly having external body parts would make you feel so self conscious?

Anyway, he'd finally ripped his pants beyond repair and was forced to head into town, so here he was. Covered in dirt and dried mud, with his shirt covered in stains and his pants just about the same, he looked...well, like a child no one cared about. Which was just fine with him, it meant most people were too wary to approach him, afraid the ragamuffin would lift their wallets.

They were right to be cautious. After all, he had to afford his new pants somehow. However, with the morning now gone and the afternoon starting to slip by, he really needed to find some sap he could swindle...I mean. Some generous soul to donate to his cause.

While Heath stood waiting for a "generous soul" to aid him in his quest for new pants, he was oblivious to the "danger lurking" in the nearby shadows.

Two eyes, belonging to a small creature, faintly glimmered from beneth a market cart. They blinked idly and shifted, intently looking the Snivy-boy over. Then, they narrowed sharply, settling on his tail. And within seconds, the creature made it's moved.

"VEEEE!" It cried as it bounded upon it's "prey", Heath's leaf-topped tail, and latched onto it with all it's might.

He heard the cry at the same time he heard the shifting of the market cart, and Heath had begun to half turn in order to check out what exactly was going on...but by then it was too late.

"Hey!" he shouted as his tail was thoroughly latched onto. "HEY!" he said again, louder, actually angry now. "Get off!"

His tail thrashed about, wickedly and wildly, completely intent on shaking the form of the strange Eevee from his person. Why was it he always ran into Pokemon who didn't understand personal boundaries? Habika was always the same way.

"VeeeEEEEeeeeEEEEeee" Squealed the Eevee as Heath's tail thrashed it about. The little ball of fluff stayed persistent for at least a minute more before it simply let go of his tail, dropping to the ground like a lump of snow off of a rooftop.

However, it seemed like a split second later that the Eevee had sprung up again, but not back up at Heath's tail. Instead it chose to jump up on a ledge closer to eye level with Heath and assume a very contemplative, curious expression. It tilted it's head to the side once or twice while maintaining this stare, almost as if it were perceiving Heath as an abstract painting. Finally after a long, awkward length of silence, the Eevee nodded to itself and spoke.

"Pants. Have holes." It said in a disconnected, but matter of fact tone.

Finally! Once his tail was free, Heath clutched it tightly to his chest and inspected it. No bites, no scratches...good, all was well. It'd better be, otherwise this strange Pokemon was going to have a serious problem, and its name would be Vine Whip of Pain.

It wasn't until he was fully done making sure that his tail was ok that he realized he was being stared at. Slowly, carefully, he glanced up at the Eevee, he gaze accusing and unimpressed.

"What? You attacked me," he pointed out.

And then she spoke to him, and all Heath could do was roll his eyes, "Yes, I know. Thank you, Captain Obvious. Unless you have any money on you, they're gonna to stay that way."

"No. Crystal." It replied, raising a front paw to lightly pat it's chest, perhaps to indicate it's name. Then it leaped again, this time to a higher post slightly above Heath's head, and contently stared down at him with a soft smirk. It seemed very amused with Heath, or at the least very intrigued, and it's tail marked this fact as it twitched about. It was a while yet before the Eevee spoke again.

"Why do you need new clothes?" It asked, it's voice and grammar sounding more mature and intelligent than the statements before. "I like you. You look fine. No new clothes needed. They'll only cover up how interesting you look."

(( xD Glad you picked up what I was laying down there. ))

Cue another exasperated sigh and an eye roll when the Eevee introduced herself. Please don't tell him she was going to take everything he said seriously. This conversation would get so frustrating so quickly if he had to double check every snarky comment he had in his arsenal.

"Yea, ok...whatever, I'm Heath. Are you going to tell me why you jumped my tail, or what?" the question asked as Crystal bounced her way up to a different level.

Which he didn't like, by the way. He was used to being the one up in the trees, surveying his territory and being wary of attackers. Having to look up at her made him uneasy, and he fidgeted some where he stood.

However, when it appeared he wasn't about to receive an answer, the Snivy boy simply threw up his hands in the air and started to walk away. He wasn't going to hang around and be stared at...that's why he didn't go into towns in the first place. Of course, that's when she chose to speak to him.

"As you noted, there are holes in them," Heath explained rather bluntly, pulling at a rather large hole across his knee. "And I don't want to be interesting, I want to be protected and warm."

"Pokemon don't have to worry about that...but when you look like this," and he motioned to his whole humanesque self. "It's a bit of a concern,"

"Your tail caught the attention of my... Weaker side. It was hard to resist. I apologize." Crystal replied, adopting a more relaxed posture as she now gently looked down upon him. An eyebrow arched upwards as she listened to Heath's explanation for wanting new clothes and she leaned her head on her paw with a sigh and a mild eye roll.

"While I do agree with wanting to be warm and protected..." She said, rolling onto her side and assuming a lounging-like posture. "You seem to motion to yourself as if you find yourself unappealing or grotesque. When I say I find you interesting, I'm not calling you odd or strange, I'm simply stating that you are visually appealing to me." She paused to stretch before continuing. "Not that I'm physically attracted to you, of course. But, I do find it odd that you reference to yourself in the matter that you do. Do you not have pride in who you are?"

There was a moment of silence after Crystal finished talking, with Heath's mouth hanging slightly ajar in disbelief. Then he firmly slapped the palm of his hand into his forehead. That...where did that come from? Man, this Eevee sure was full of herself.

"You probably find it odd because I'm not talking about personal pride. I meant looking like a human. Has nothing to do with what I think about myself. Being naked when you look like a human is just generally not tolerated.

"I have no idea where you got all that self-image crap from," he muttered, dismissing her with a wave of his hand. "Jeez, you think too much. What're you gonna tell me next, that because I'm without a trainer that I have attachment issues?"

Crystal snorted and laughed, her features attaining an expression of pure amusement. It was as if she was only talking to Heath to get some comic relief, a question almost proven by the smirk on her furry little face. She jumped down from the high ledge and returned to the one more level to Heath's eyes and leaned forward, staring cheekily at him.

"Of course I think too much," She replied. "I have a brain, so I'm going to use it." She paused to laugh at his comment about not having a trainer. "If you don't have a trainer that's all fine and dandy. Some of us Pokemon need them and some us can be well off without them. I for one have no real trainer, just a family that treats me well. I'm free to go and come as I please." She tilted her head to the side and a devious grin formed on her features. "But now that you've brought up the topic... Are you sure you don't need a trainer, he who can't afford pants?"

A sneer curled his lip as he was being laughed at, "Then how about doing something more positive rather than being a nasty wench?" he growled.

As he spoke, two small, green buds poked out from under his shirt collar, turning into long vines that danced like agitated snakes to the right and left of his head.Obviously, he didn't like this game of 'let's laugh at the new guy.' The bad part is...he wasn't very good at not playing it, especially when he was the new guy.

"I can provide for myself. Who needs to 'afford' anything? What I don't have, I take."

His eyes caught sight of the collar and the stone hanging from it. Deftly, one of those vines snapped forward, making a quick grab for the stone. Mission: snap the damn thing off from around her neck.
