Voltaire didn't make where he was going a secret, in fact he announced it and made sure everyone knew they could join him and Annjette at anytime!

Earlier Voltaire went up and down the river bank looking for a calm section so the current wouldn't sweep him and Annjette away, especially not Annjette. Once he had found one he had come to his wagon dressed Annjette in what could amount to swimming attire (which was a girl's under shirt and underwear) and dressed himself in pants that stopped at the knee. He was shirt-less even now as he wandered to the section he discovered.

Once there he knelt and set Annjette down. Once set down Annjette stared at the water and then looked up at Voltaire.

"Nothing to be afraid of, Duckling. I'll go in there with you. Just walk to where the water meets the land. That's all, I'll carry you the rest of the way."

This obviously was a test of bravery. Annjette seeming to realize it seemed mildly insulted and almost refused to go, but then realized how cowardly it made her look. So Annjette waddled forward on her black duck's feet and even went in a few steps further just to show how stubborn she was.

Voltaire chuckled and walked after her and then bent down to take a hold of her hands, "Keep walking, Duckling. Let me help you."

Again Annjette wanted to refuse, she could do this by herself! But she instead decided to humor Papa and let him walk her into the water.

Voltaire was hoping others would come, even if to drop off their children so he could teach them to swim also.

Caroline, along with Rojiza, meanders down to the riverside. Her light skirt is teased by the breeze, and she's barefoot as usual. She sets Rojiza down near the water's edge and retreats to the shade of a tree, leaning against its rough surface and surveying the scene.
Rojiza is not at all happy. Her mother had dressed her in this...thing...and abandoned her. Well, maybe it wasn't all bad...there are Voltaire and Annjette, after all. She sits down and folds her arms over her chest, refusing to move. She looks back at her mother.
"Dinna look at me, querida," says Caroline, laughing. "I canna swim to save my life."

[I like to talk about clothes, okay? >_>]

"Oi, iubito, you're getting heavier every day," mutters Marissa. She's followed Voltaire's call and meandered to the river as well. She's dressed in an olive swim suit, one that she found in the depths of her travelling trunk from when she lived in Romania a decade ago. The suit is trimmed with tinkly gold bangles under the breastline and around the waisline. Her tastes have obviously changed since her younger days, and the garmet is too flashy for her taste, so she sports it uncomfortably, a royal purple wrap angled around her hips with a tie.

Needless to say, it's been awhile since she's been swimming.

Kale bounces in his mothers arms, pleased to see new people, and grins. He babbles in baby speak. His words closely resemble broken English by this time, and he's outwardly pleased with himself. He wears a pair of red shorts that belonged to Marissa when she was a child, cut with scissors at the knee and tied with a cord to keep them from slipping.

The pair is an akward one, but they survey the site with contentment and excitement. "Hello, Voltaire! Caroline!" Marissa calls with a wave.

Caroline waves in greeting, thinking that Marissa's choice of swimwear is rather lovely.
Rojiza is still dubiously staring at the water, wondering if squirrels were made to swim.

Setting Kale to the ground with a heave, Marissa looks for a place to settle. She spots a plot of land dappled by sunlight, determines it to be charming, and decides to hunker down. She sits, enjoying the view of the gently flowing water and teh sound it makes. It sounds like laughter, she thinks to herself.

"Ay, Pales, you picked a right lovely spot," she says with a smile. "And what's this I hear about not being able to swim?" This she directs to Caroline, casting a wink her way.

Voltaire greeted the two women that came and their young ones with a wave, still keeping a hand on Annjette so she doesn't wander off.

Annjette turned her head slightly and squeaked, "Ro-ji-zahh~" She called out happily to get her friend's attention.

"Hihihi~.." This was directed toward Kale, and happily so. She liked the boy though he could not talk. Afterall Rojiza did not speak, but still she was a friend to the squirrelish one.

"Thank ye Marissa." Voltaire replied with a grin, "Can't swim? We are not going far into the water Caroline, but if you rather observe I understand..." Voltaire smiled at Caroline with a look of understanding.

Annjette wandered further, until she reached the end of Voltaire's armlength, but still she continued.

Pulling, pulling.

Voltaire was leaning, and leaning until he eventually fell face first into the water.

..Annjette stopped and peered back at her papa who was now covered in muck and floating waterweeds and began to giggle.

Marissa roared in laughter. She ran to the edge of the river, sloshed to her ankles, and crouched, extending her hand to aid Pales. "Well, I declare that was a perfectly graceful manuver there, boy," she told him through giggles.

Kale, on the other hand, did not share his mother's jubilation. He followed her to the edge of the meandering water, and stopped dead. He did not like the looks of the rolling depths at all- they were quickly moving, and just look what they did to that man..! Besides. It just didn't feel right. He refused to move.

Caroline watches Kale, the little fire element, and laughs. She knows exactly how he feels.
Rojiza waves excitedly to Annjette, giggling. She splashes about near the edge of the river.
Caroline maneuvers to where the river is only a foot or so below the ground. She swishes her hand in the chilly water, smiling as she lays on her belly and watches Voltaire. She can't help but giggle when he falls. "Aye," she agrees heartily with Marissa, "Graceful like a newborn lamb!"

Annjette giggled more and even Voltaire laughed as he accepted Marissa's hand to help him up.

Annjette was free! And the urge to go deeper suddenly built up. The water felt so lovely against her feet. Much better than land. She didn't want to leave this river, ever. Annjette looked to be in what was a trance for a few moments until she heard Rojiza splashing about.

She snapped out and made her way toward there, Voltaire's guiding hand was no longer on her and thus she could go where she wanted.

"I can be quite graceful, just not in the water, I guess." Voltaire replied to the women cheerfully.

Rojiza tries to swim around, but finds herself awkward. She floats with the river's current and, frightened, grabs ahold of Voltaire's shirt and clings tightly to him.

Marissa heaved and the two were on their feet again, still laughing. "You look a picture, too," she added, noting the muck and weeds. She turned to her son. "Well, c'mon, Kaley, lets give this river a try, shall we?"

The fox boy didn't budge. Instead he shuffled his feet, rubbed his arms, and whined. He wanted to get to mum- but there was no way he was stepping foot into that death trap. He glared at the river, emulating a mixture of anger and fear.

Voltaire wobbled a bit when Rojiza clung to his shirt, "Ahh, I see," He smiled down to the girl, "Want me to help teach you? I don't think I have to teach Annjette, much."

Annjette indeed was swimming a bit after Rojiza looking mildy anxious.

Every now and then Annjette would peer worriedly over at Kale as if sensing his darkened emotions...Something else within her was starting to awaken as well, but the swangirl was very unaware of it.

Rojiza nods, brown eyes huge with cold and fear. She clings to him as if her very life lay in keeping herself close to him. She glances at the river again and nearly dies, she thinks.

Marissa looked at her son, puzzled. "Iubito? Join me, wont you?" Still, her boy was adamant. Marissa waded over to him, taking him under his arms and hoisting upwards. Kale struggled, crying out. He was clearly frightened, now. He clung to his mother's clothes, hair, neck, and clung with a fierceness that turned his knuckles white. He was not a happy boy.
