Elleth didn’t know what hurt more, her heart or her head. Sure her body still ached with the lingering wounds from the dragon attack weeks prior, but with all the things she’d done those hurts felt more like an afterthought. Meeting Jovra had been the best thing she’d ever done. The elder Oblivionite had taken her under his wing and tutored her in the things that her parents never had. It was a real wakeup to learn the different things that she should have started after she’d gotten her two Dragon Orbs. The elder had also given her quite a bit to think about. Things like why her parents might act the way they did to why they had wanted to foster her in the first place. He also gave her a better understanding of what made her culture run the way it did.

Then he’d done what any good Elder would do, and gave her the boot. He told her not to come back until she’d given it all time to settle and to find something else to do, other than bother an old man. As if elder Jovra was old. Snorting Elleth continued to plod along the worn forest path, wondering just what sort of animals traveled the little trail to make it so obvious. All trails eventually led to water as water meant life. What Elleth really wanted was some of the long blades of grass that grew around water’s edge and maybe a few cattails. Elder Jovra needed a few more baskets and Elleth was good at weaving, one of the benefits from helping her mother weave cloth.

Just thinking about the old loom made her chest feel tight, but she pushed the feeling aside. She needed to pay attention or else she’d get caught off guard again and this time there wouldn’t be anyone around to save her. A small part of her hoped to see Samril again; his endless cheer would do her some good and hopefully lift some of the perpetual gloom that seemed to have settled around her shoulders. Just thinking about it made her chuckle, her big bad Oblivionite longing for the company of an energetic Dovaa. What would the Elders say?

The thought of her Elders squawking and throwing fits like little children lightened her mood, which further brightened when the path she was on gave out to a small pond. A few long legged animals bounded away at her appearance, startling her just as much as she had them. Laughing at her own skittishness Elleth ventured further into the small clearing and squatted down by the water’s edge. Peering into the depth she could spot a few tadpoles swimming about and she entertained the idea of trying to catch them. Eventually practicality won out and she left them be. Not only would Elder Jovra not allow her to keep them, she had nothing to carry them in. A grass basket was all fine and dandy but it wouldn’t hold water unless she put something else inside it.

Speaking of grass baskets Elleth set about carefully plucking the long stems, all the while looking over her shoulder. She didn’t feel safe in the forest anymore, a trait while good was making her far more paranoid then she had to be. Elder Jovra had specifically made sure to order her out here, to force her to face her fears.

After her encounter with another dragon in Serenia and the meeting of her good friend Naomi, Kavanna decided it was time to venture out once again and find something else to do. This time, her path led her to Soudul, the dark continent. The last time she had been here, she didn't do much else other than find and beat a dragon before skittishly returning home as quickly as possible. Kav knew that the forests were plagued with beasts of all sorts, but what was worse was that she knew she needed to venture out and learn more about the other continents.

The walk was long and almost tedious. Kav hadn't found anything but a few wild beasts which cowardly ran away as she approached them. The life she was given was becoming a bit stale of excitement lately, her need for a dragon battle was winning out her mind, one of the side reasons she was here, hoping to find just such a thing.

It was peaceful in the forest. The birds in the trees chirping, the wind slowly making its way through the trees, weaving in and out as if playing tag with someone. Especially on Soudul, Kavanna felt a presence of some sort looming over her. She didn't completely feel one hundred percent safe from harm. She knew that the darkness held many mysteries and secrets, one thing that she could do without.

It wasn't long before she hit a clearing. There on the grass, sat a little Oblivionite girl. The Dovaa squinted her eyes and realized that she wasn't any older than herself. She hadn't met anyone on this continent before. Maybe this girl knew where to find a dragon. But, could she really be trusted? The Orderites took Kavanna under their wing. Could she betray them like that and befriend an Oblivionite as well? She wondered what Naomi would say. Well, she couldn't figure that out, but she did know what Anna would say, and that was kill all Oblivionites for they are the enemy. What a fighter's spirit she had.

It wasn't like Kavanna to instantly attack a stranger without first figuring out if they were a friendly face or not. Though everything about this, the time, place, and the fact that she was just sitting there made Kavanna's mind wander to the possibility that this was a foe. All of her professors had taught her that Oblivionites and Orderites were foes. But Kavanna hated to listen to them without truly knowing. Obviously not all of the people of Magesc were bad. She had Naomi as a prime example.

After a few moments of contemplating, she decided to come out and make herself known to the other. "You there! Get up. Who are you?" she ordered, wondering what the stranger would do.

Elleth jumped at the sharp voice that rang out behind her, half finished basket flying a few feet as she found herself half crouching in the grass. Her body so easily slid into a defensive stance that it took her a few moments to realize that the creature in front of her wasn't an Oblivionite, but another Dovaa. Unlike Samril this one was a girl around her own age dressed in green and white with a large flower behind one ear.

Great, another Dovaa. Elleth hoped that this didn't mean that the wars were going to start again. All she needed was to see an Orderite wandering around and then she'd go running to sound an alarm.

Scowling Elleth straightened to her full unintimidating height and stared down the obnoxious girl. "The same could be said to you! Who are you to trespass on Soudul's soil and demand things from one of her children?" She snapped back, pointing one finger at Kav. Elleth might have a healthy fear of dragons now, but this didn't mean that she was going to let a lone Dovaa boss her around, not when they were about the same age. She'd never hear the end of it from Elder Jovra if she did.

PostPosted: Wed May 23, 2012 9:07 pm

Kav's squint turned into a snarl. Okay, so this wasn't as kind a girl as Naomi had been. But, maybe Kav did come off a bit more bossy than she should have been. It didn't matter. Her question wasn't answered.

"If you must know, my name is Kavanna and the only reason I'm telling you is because I am in your territory. But just because you're an Oblivionite doesn't mean you own this place. As long as I'm not in your capital, there's nothing that you can do. Dovaa are free to roam these lands. You would do well to read up a bit more on your own people's history." Kav hissed. She wasn't taking too kindly to this girl already.

If it was one thing Kavanna hated, it was a defensive nature. Thus far, this girl seemed as though she was quite a defensive person, and Kavanna couldn't stand a come back such as that when she knew she had done nothing wrong.

"Learn my history?! My history is bathed in the blood of your people!" Elleth hissed back, eyes narrowing, "Unlike you we don't need to be reminded of our histories, it's bred into us, driven into us by the very land we stand on." She gestured towards the dark trees around them and the dark water at her feet. "Our Goddess doesn't let us forget."

A curtain of lavender briefly obscured her vision as she tossed her head, basking in a moment of pride for her people and her history. Yes they were weapons, tools to be used at the whim of their fickle Goddess, but they were proud of that. If they couldn't have pride in that at least, then what else was there to live for? Unlike the other races they had no afterlife, no eternal paradise, no eternal rest. They simply ceased to exist once life fled from their body.

Being reminded of this fact by this little..this little know-it-all twit turned the bitter feelings she'd held onto for most of the day into a seething anger. How dare she walk into Oblivionite territory then claim that it was free game for any race to roam. To dare say that she hadn't learned her history when it came to the Dovaa. Her mothers teachings of tolerance only got her so far before her fathers temper showed itself.

Kavanna rolled her eyes. "Tch...Your patriot act is pathetic. My people have done nothing to either side. All my god did was stay neutral, and for that we're criticized and war has been brought on by both sides against us. We have done nothing wrong. But if it were my choice, I would ally with the Orderites. At least they have a soul." Kavanna sneered.

This vile piece of trash Oblivionite didn't deserve to stand on the same ground as a Dovaa. Wow, her history books were right though, they were an angry, evil people. Nothing seemed more right than to kick this little girls butt for trying to treat a Dovaa like trash. The blood of the Dovaa? They weren't easily defeated, that was one thing that was for sure. If this little Oblivionite had to learn that the hard way, so be it.

"Oh yes, so original. Throw me a fact that we don't already know and I'll even think about taking you seriously." Elleth snarled, "Poor you, dragged into a war that your God had no intention of joining. Yet he created you anyway. You're the same as us, pawns in a game that we have no control over. And what do I find you doing, acting like what the rest of the world expects from an Oblivionite. Congratulations! You've just won the award for being a hypocrite." Elleth spat out before spitting on the ground, "Who is the soulless one now hmm? The one born without it or the one who goes around picking fights with people they don't even know."

Elleth was tired of this girl already as her anger seemed to fade the longer they traded words. She thought so highly of herself and her people and if all Dovaa were like this, then she could see why they'd been dragged into the war. Samril seemed to be the only exception, but who was she to judge. Maybe there was a different in mentality when it came to the genders of the race.

Kavanna just glared at the little Oblivionite. As this girl's anger seemed to dwindle, Kavanna's anger just seemed to rise. How dare she call her a hypocrite! In Kavanna's eyes, it wasn't her who was starting the fight, but this damned Oblivionite. "At least my god wasn't the one who started this blood bath. I'm no pawn at all. My purpose in life is to restore Magesc to it's former glory, before you Oblivionites came in with your filthy habits and mucked it all up." Kavanna sneered. "And I don't think you should be talking about hypocrisy, Oblivionite. Your people are the epitome of hypocrisy and deceit. You're just jealous because I have an afterlife and you'll never know of such a pleasure. All your kind will do is be turned to dust and rot away while my soul will rest in a heavenly place with the gods." she said, now truly trying to start a little something.

This girl was already getting on Kavanna's last nerve. It wouldn't be long before she knew she would force herself to just go all out with a frontal assault. It would be a good story to tell Marcus had she defeated an Oblivionite. But oh, what would happen to her if she lost? She would be ridiculed for a lifetime. Either way, she wasn't going to let the words of a pesky Oblivionite go unpunished. This meant war.

"And then what? What would happen once the Oblivionites were wiped out? You would have 'Light' and 'Neutral' left. Neutral would shift into 'Darkness' to keep the balance, or the 'Light' would flip into 'Darkness' and the war would continue, only one side less." Elleth replied pushing her bangs out of her eyes, "My Goddess acts within her nature, it is expected of her to be cold and cruel for her own amusement. She is predictable in that manner. What of yours, could you predict what he would do should you meet him?"

She ignored the comment about the afterlife. Yes it was a very low blow but it was one that didn't rile her up like it would others of her kind. She had no soul, no life after death. What she would leave behind would be a legacy that would eventually become someone elses. What she craved was a chance to leave a mark on the world, for better or for worse. Her pride was constantly under attack and so her priorities shifted. She no longer was just a typical Oblivionite, one amongst many.

"But I see my words only reach deaf ears that hear what they want to hear. So I will give you your fight Dovaa so that you may brag about it to your elders to make yourself look better than you really are."

All the Dovaa could do was roll her eyes. She was bored to tears trying to talk to this girl about the gods. She seemed very devoted to hers though, that much was for sure. At least this girl had one good quality. She wasn't a pushover when it came to defending her history.

Kavanna laughed. The girl was getting all angry again. Oh how she loved pushing her buttons. "Your words amuse me, Oblivionite. Alright, a fight it is. I don't care about light, dark, or neutral anymore. This is about you and me. I'll take you out. Show you the real power of a Dovaa." she said, readying herself for a fight.

"You and me hmm." Elleth murmured to herself, finding her center and calming herself down greatly by just slipping into the familiar stance that she preferred for battle. She was unarmed and the Dovaa had already joined a clan by the color of her eyes. Green like Ysail. This little Dovaa was hotheaded for being tied to what was considered the weakest of dragons.

But Elleth had been defeated by those 'weak' dragons before, so she wasn't going to take this fight lightly. Her legs tensed as she dashed forward, rapidly closing the distance between the two. Unarmed combat wasn't something that she'd be doing too much of in the future, if Elder Jovra had anything to say about it.

She lashed out with an open palm straight at the cocky Dovaa's face.

This Oblivionite had started the fight already, running straight at her. Hah, she wasn't going to be taken down by hand to hand combat. She was much more used to being farther away. Kav quickly jumped back, dodging the first punch with ease. Jumping again she did a back flip of sorts, grabbing some fallen leaves from the area as she landed on her hands.

When she came back up, she had imbued the leaves with Ysali magical power, causing them to be as sharp as blades. "Oh, this is definitely going to be fun. Razor Leaf!" she yelled, throwing the leaves with as much precision and power as she could, straight for her opponent.

Elleth snorted as her attack missed and the pitiful retaliating magical attack missed her in return. "A few leaves aren't going to stop me," She said, "So I suggest you step up your game." She could tell that this was going to become a game of keep away on the Dovaa's part. She was quick to retreat and Elleth was just as quick to keep within striking range.

Oh how she wanted to bloody that pretty Dovaa face and watch the rage and pain flicker across those green eyes. It would look better with a hand shaped bruise darkening her skin. With that goal in mind Elleth's hands struck out in the familiar and favored Lotus Palm attack.

The Oblivionite dodged her leaves, which wasn't that great, but when she spat out her words, that was quite unnecessary.

When Kav had dodged yet another one of her palm strikes, she called out, "I need to step up my game, eh? I think you would do well to heed your own advice, Oblivionite."

With a look of anger and annoyance, Kav used her Vine Summon > Whip spell. "Vine Whip!" she called out, flailing her arms about after her summoned vines were completely out of hiding.
