An Unlikely Clutch - Theta Touching

Please Note: Only Candidates may post in this. Non-Candidates that have signed up for consideration are not part of the ceremony.

Abigail had remained in coma for some months now, cared for by the best healers the Weyr could muster but many feared if she did not wake soon, they would have to turn to the leadership of one of her Juniors. It was a troubling state of affairs when her experience and knowledge of the situation would be so very useful…. But her skin had gone pale from lack of sunlight and she seemed so much frailer now than before, a shadow of the strong woman she once was.

Gold Brakiath had stabilized somewhat after it had become apparent her rider would not die and many used the dragon a gauge of her rider’s health. She’d gone odd, a tad eccentric and more than a little moody but she functioned well enough and showed no signs of disappearing between so when she rose it was no surprise. Biology and instinct drove her into the skies and the males gave chase… but it was a disappointingly short Flight, with no change in leadership, as if the gold was more interested in getting the whole affair over and done with then giving it an earnest attempt.

That alone worried many.

And that worry only deepened when the clutch was laid showed very little promise. It was full of small eggs, the biggest of which could be brown at most. No gold egg graced the sands and everyone knew by the size of the eggs no bronze lurked in the midst… it was a disappointingly stunted clutch and many blamed the distraction that was the rider’s health and some began to call for a new Weyrwoman to step forward.

Fourteen eggs now lay hardened on the sands and the Candidates have been allowed mere moments to acquaint themselves with the future dragons. Huffing and disgruntled from personal problems, the Candidatemaster grumbled and yelled into the lines of anxious young men and women, “Ho! Be quiet, be polite, and don’t linger too long or you’ll regret it! Be careful, be observant.”

The first of the Candidates was pushed out onto the Sands before they could respond and the rest were shuffled into order, released one by one to go explore the eggs and possibly find a lifepartner.

The Clutch
Caught-In-The-Surge Egg - At first, the presence in this egg seems distant. Either the little one inside is still developing, or it just doesn't care that you're there. Rather abruptly, however, you feel a sudden surge of apology. This little one would like to make amends for its behavior by listening to you, if that's what you want. This egg is small enough to fit in with the rest of the Clutch, but leans toward the larger side of the eggs present. Likely a Green.

Eye of the Storm Egg - This little darling is one of the larger eggs of the Clutch, leading most to believe it will be a Blue. However, it is so quiet, so faint a presence, that there's no way to hint at what personality-type the egg holds.

Peace and Quiet Egg - This egg exudes a kind of watchful tranquility. Although on the small side, likely a small Green, this egg gives the impression that it will always be well able to take care of itself and others, too, if they need it. Were you confused about something? Having trouble deciding whether or not you made the right decision? This is an issue it will have to mull over, but perhaps you just need to take some extra time to think about it as well, which you would have realized yourself, if given time. The shell is a mossy green patterned in faint, blurry speckles of black. A very calm outside to match the very calm occupant inside.

Crimson Swirl Egg - This outgoing egg sits toward the center of the Clutch amid all the general hubbub of egg life. It leans this way and that depending on which egg it appears to be "listening to" at the moment-- or monitoring. When a Candidate touches this shell, it's readily apparent that this baby is making sure its siblings are playing nice and that it is the one who decides what nice is and what the punishment is for not playing nicely. The shell is a swirl of nearly black red and vibrant crimson, leading to its name. Likely a Green or a Blue.

Silver Lining Egg - Small and vibrantly colored, this egg is clearly going to be a dragon beyond the ordinary when it hatches. The shell is a canvas of splashed grass green, sky blue, orange, and Crimson red. When you lay your hands on the shell, the dragon inside seems to weigh you even as it gives you a charming greeting and invites you to spend some time with it. Of course, your time is meant to be spent hearing about it, so the topic of conversation won't be hard to come up with, but it'll keep you entertained. Besides, it seems to say, with a friend (or future partner) like this, how can you ever lose?

Thunderclap Egg - Someone is trying to get your attention, and you better pay attention too. Even looking at another egg while your close to this one will invoke a fair bit of tempermental anger, and to be honest this egg while a touch on the small side is hard to take your eyes off - what with the way it's deep bloodred shell glints in the sun. It has placed itself as close to the candidates as possible - clearly it wants to be touched first and woe behold any candidate who dosen't do as it wants.

Sweet-as-sin Egg - Everyone talks about just how sweet this egg seems to be, although a bit small this pale violet egg seems to enjoy just about everyone's company male and female alike. You get the impression that the hatchling inside wants to strike up a conversation with you and certainly can't wait to meet you! This egg has placed itself in the center of the clutch - as though trying to be as close to as many of it's siblings as possible. It's tilted slightly towards the outlaying Thunderclap egg as though attempting to call it back to the group.

On the Edge Egg - This egg is precariously balenced on it's tip...the wrong way up most of the time, but no matter how often someone comes along and tries to right it it always ends up back on it's tip again before to long. When the shell is touched one gets the impression of intense focus..but thats not entirely surprising..it must be hard to keep yourself upside down for that long! It's a bit to the outside of the group of eggs and probably one of the smallest in the group but you don't really get the feeling that it's positioning is really al that important..it's just..there.

The Charge-on! Egg - Touching this egg insites a sense of bold bravery, it's around middle size for this clutch but oddly you get the feeling that it's got the bravery of a bronze lurking beneth the surface. Despite the bold brave feeling you get at first a lingering hand might get the impression that this little hatchling is waiting for the perfect moment to makes it's arrival.

Deep Thought Egg – This egg sits towards the back of the clutch, and judging by its size it contains either a large green or a smallish blue. The shell is a deep blueish purple and patterned with white specks, giving the overall impression of a starry sky. Candidates who touch it will feel that the dragon inside is assessing them and it gives the impression of doing so rather astutely. There is a certain sense of slightly aloof pride, even superiority radiating out from the shell.

Quiet Pool Egg – This dull brown egg sits off to one side of the clutch, but points towards its siblings as though watching over them. It’s smallish for a dragon egg, but sits around the middle of the size spectrum for this clutch. On first touching it a candidate might wonder if it’s alive at all, there’s no real feeling from it at first. Anyone with the patience to linger and listen a little longer however will eventually receive a gentle, quiet acknowledgement accompanied by a feeling of peace.

Gleaming Egg – Hello candidate, have a brain full of greeting! Though it remains still this egg gives off the sense that any moment now it could explode into action. There is not a shred of self doubt in this egg, nor the sense that it is holding anything back from those who come to meet it. It welcomes any who touch it for as long as they wish to stay, but doesn’t seem upset or insulted when they do depart. Settled around the centre of the clutch this is possibly the largest egg in the clutch, and with its larger than life personality, and vivid shell of mottled orange and yellow it certainly seems it!

Erupting Egg – Small in size but not in presence this egg, sitting fairly centrally, will definitely leave an impression on anyone who touches it. At its base it is a solid, brilliant orange-red but further up swirls of grey mix in and gradually take over towards the tip. The dragonet inside seems to cut through the minds of candidates like a knife, prodding here and there in search of who the person touching it really is at their core, a startling experience to be sure.

Bountiful Egg - Sitting in the center of the clutch is an egg of swirling blue and buttery yellow. It reaches out indiscriminately to those who come to it, enveloping them in warmth and love. It might be quite small, but it is clear that the dragon inside this egg has a heart big enough for the mightiest queen that ever soared the skies of Pern.

Niyx was the first candidate shoved out onto the sands stumbling forth only to catch herself at the candidate master's shove. Pausing she seemed to draw herself up leveling the man with a hard stare. Not quite a glare, but it was clear the odd girl was sizing him up.

Or maybe she was just memorizing his face. It was hard to tell sometimes with Niyx. Then in a blink of an eye that cold moment of calculating was replaced by a pleased harper like grin as she strode forward content to quietly lead the pack of candidates onto the sands. Scanning the eggs with her eyes she approached the Thunderclap Egg first, it's deep blood red shell matching the rich red of her own attire. Stepping up to it she paused before lowering a gentle hand to caress her fingers across the shell in a sort of light hello.

Niyx rather wished she'd been allowed some colors, she'd have liked to match this egg's shell on canvas. She wondered if the eggs would be as pleased and entertained by her drawings as many of the dragons had been.

After spending a bit of time properly greeting the egg Niyx turned to move on wishing to give the other candidates their turn as she spied out the next egg she would visit. Pausing in her steps her eyes fell on the Deep Thought Egg.

The shells pattern reminded her of the star charts she'd seen plastered on her master's office walls. Some of which had been drawn quite beautifully, but compared to this egg in it's natural beauty there was hardly any competition. Stepping up the the egg Niyx eyed how almost regally it sat seeming to without eyes examine her. Then with a slim grin the candidate dropped into a sweeping pitch perfect bow. A bit showy yes, but a clear sign of respect as she rose from said bow to trace the patterns of some of the star like spots on it's shell. She wondered what it was like being inside a shell? Niyx herself would probably go half mad if confined in such a place without even some scrolls to occupy herself with in scholarly pursuit.

Dizzian entered the sands with a polite nod to the Candidatemaster. She'd been to many touchings in her turns her and he could trust her to know what to do. Still as she drew close to the eggs that little voice within her played back all the Hatchings she'd failed, all the eggs she'd thought she'd felt kinship with only to watch them run off without another glance. Those had hurt her deeply but not as much as the few who's honestly looked at her...and found her wanting.

She'd just turned 18, two more turns before she was through. Dizzian knew this one be one of her last clutches and her chanced were dwindling. While most were disappointed in Brakiath's clutch, Dizzian was thankful there even WAS a clutch, that there were eggs with viable personalities inside. She took a deep breath and tried to clear all the negative thoughts from her mind. This would be the hatchlings first impression of her and it needed to be a good one!

So with a smile on her face and a bounce in her step she walked up to the closest egg. The Thunder Clap egg was small but intimidating to look at, a glance across the clutch revealed a lot of angry colors scattered about. As Dizzian laid her hands on the hardening shell before her though the stab of anger startled her. She stroked the shell in apology though she wasn't sure what she'd done wrong.

Dizzian didn't stay long with that egg, instead standing and moving to another that had caught her eye. The On-the-Edge egg stood out not so much for it's coloration as for it's strange position. She almost chuckled but instead knelt beside the egg and gently placed her hands upon it. She knew better than to try and right it, Queen's didn't like people messing with their eggs and Candidatemasters liked it even less. The focus this little one was putting into it's balancing act was admirable. Dizzian encouraged it, sending thoughts of pride towards the dragonet inside.

Her next stop was beside the Gleaming egg. This was more to her style as she was greeted enthusiastically by the youngling inside. She returned the greeting with as much umph as she could muster, a grin on her face. She stayed with this egg a few moments longer than she had with the other two before she reluctantly got up. There were more eggs to greet but maybe she'd be able to return. Her fingers trailed along it till she was too far away to reach.

Ailin walked onto the sands somewhat hesitantly. His mind was back on his flute, tucked into Niyx's hidey-hole. He hated leaving it out of his sight but they wouldn't let him bring it to the Hatching Sands. They'd gone over what he was supposed to do but it still struck him as odd. How could you communicate with something that wasn't even born yet? He watched the others on the sands, they weren't even speaking to the eggs. He knew dragons were telepathic but that was supposed to be with their bonded only right? Was he supposed to find the one that spoke to him? If that was the case then why let the rest of the candidates on the Sands at Hatching time if they already knew what egg had spoken to whom?

Ailin wasn't even sure what egg he was supposed to go to first. Was there an order they needed to follow? He saw many of the candidates touching the Thunderclap egg first and followed their lead. Gingerly he placed his hand upon the dark red shell, it reminded him of the eccentric clothing Niyx found favorable. Oh dear shiney golden eggs! His hand leapt off the shell as if shocked. Of what he was expecting, that was not it. Was that what the rest of them would feel like? He placed his hand a second time on the shell, feeling the dragons personality inside. It was a very alarming experience for him. As others approached he took the opportunity to move on.

Ailin still didn't know if there was an order to things but it looked as if the candidates moved where they were drawn. He scanned the multicolored shells before him, trying to decide where to go next. He moved to the center of the clutch and placed his hand upon the Erupting eggs shell. Shards and Shells! His hand didn't move but he felt his heart jump into his throat at the intense prying of the dragonet inside. If this is what dragons were like he was starting to feel fairly sure that he was not meant to be a rider. Ailin moved quickly from that egg, feeling rather violated in a disturbing way.

In an effort to put distance between himself and the Erupting Egg, Ailin moved to the outskirts of the clutch and found himself beside the Quiet Pool egg. He was afraid to touch it after the last two. His fingers grazed it's surface but he got nothing from it. Curious and confused he placed both palms upon the small egg, the peaceful welcome he received was a complete about face from the other two. There was relief in him. Not all the dragonets at least were so jarring.

Roeline was so excited. Her first Touching! Sure, the circumstances of the event certainly weren’t optimal; she felt sad for Brakiath and her injured rider, and she could only hope that Abigail would wake up sometime soon. In the meantime though there was a clutch on the Sands, and that alone was something that should be celebrated. So what if there were maybe only greens and blues? Weren’t they all the more important to flying units for their agility and speed? Sure, they couldn’t last as long in flight, but that was why the more the merrier, right? Made it easier to cycle out shifts. At least, that seemed to be the gist of what she’d always been told.

As her turn came to be released for Touching, the pre-teen gave a respectful bow to the Gold mother before approaching the eggs on the Sands. There were so many! Which should she even approach first? The dark, bloodred egg that was closest to the Candidates (Thunderclasp Egg) caught her eye first, and she obligingly went to stroke the pretty shell. “Hello there~” she said quietly but cheerily to the dragonet inside. She got the feeling that it certainly seemed to like the attention. She had to frown at the surge of anger that she felt when she started to look around at the other eggs though. “I can’t pet just you,” she explained, a bit upset that she had made the dragonet upset. She hadn’t meant to! Probably best to move on though...

Next her eye was caught by small red-orange and grey egg near the center (Erupting Egg) and she decided to give that shell a stroke or two. Oh my! She felt like she was being searched by the dragon somehow. Did dragonets often do that? She supposed it made sense since they were looking for Theirs, but it was a bit startling nonetheless. I hope you manage to find what you’re look for in Yours~ she thought at it silently, giving the egg a smile. Dragons communicated through thoughts anyway, right?

Roeline’s next stop was by the large orange and yellow egg close to the center (Gleaming Egg), and she found this dragonet to be quite a pleasant change from the previous two. Why hello to you too! It was hard not to giggle at the sheer amount of energy held within the egg. She’d love to play and chat with this one at least once after it had hatched. (Of course, she’d love to play and chat with a lot of dragons, but that was besides the point.) I look forward to seeing you again come the Hatching~ she thought cheerfully before moving on to the next egg.

Ooo, the blue and yellow shell on this egg (Bountiful Egg) sure was pretty. And what a sweet dragon inside! Would she get in trouble for trying to hug an egg on the Sands? She so badly wanted to give this egg a hug. “Can I hug you when you hatch?” she whispered, settling for giving the egg one last affectionate rub before looking about for another egg to touch. It was such a shame that they couldn’t linger...

Fortunately the next dragon egg that she touched seemed to also have a very sweet resident. As she ran her hand over the pale violet shell (Sweet-as-sin Egg), she found herself wishing to meet the dragonet inside nearly as much as it wished to meet her. So sociable! She could certainly understand why it would wish to be in the very center of the clutch; what better place to interact with as many siblings as possible, right? I’ll see you when you Hatch, she promised, pulling away from the shell to move on. Thus far she was really really enjoying this Touching.

The young harper turned candidate took a deep breath to steady herself and try to clear the fear from her mind. At 18 turns Kytara was closing in on her last hatching fast, and with it her last chances at finding her other half. Perhaps her father had been right and she was wrong, her whole being was wrong. But that couldn't be all true! N'var had stood last turn and impressed a wonderful -if moody- blue. There was hope for her! There had to be.

As she stumbled onto the sands she turned to bow respectfully to Brakiath. Thank you Brakiath, for tolerating us while we fumble like silly flits in hopes of finding our bonded. Slowly she straightened and turned to decide where to start. The Thunderclap Egg was closest and clearly wanting her attention, so she started there. Brushing her fingertips across its crimson surface she smiled. This part was always calming. Don't worry little one, I doubt there is anyone who hasn't noticed you. You're too lovely to ignore.

She moved on, not wanting to hold the others up. The Caught-In-The-Surge Egg was her next stop. At first touch the dragonet inside was unresponsive causing her to frown. Shy? Or just not interested in us like we are you? She jumped a bit as a wave of apologetic feelings washed over her. She laughed softly and smiled down at it. Its fine. I don't mind. You just do what makes you comfortable.

From there she moved to the Peace and Quiet Egg. As she touched the blue and black specked green shell she felt at ease. All of her worry and doubt about herself melted away when in the gaze of the egg. Thank you little one. I needed that. She hesitated to move away, not wanting to loose that tranquil feeling, but a glance around the sands urged her forward. No reason to press her luck with the moody gold mother.

Selene walked onto the hatching sands along with the other Candidates when she was told to. This was her eighteenth Turn; she slightly rubbed her fingers against the bracelet her mother had given her for luck before moving forward. She walked calmly giving a respectful nod to the Queen before looking to the eggs.

The Thunderclap Egg seemed to demand her attention. Much like the people before her, it was the first of the eggs she ran her hand over. The shock of the anger for her came as her eyes drifted to another colorful egg nearby. My sincerest apologies little one. She smiled apologetically at the egg giving it one finally caress before she moved on.

There was a larger orange and yellow egg toward the center of the Clutch. As she placed her hand on it she couldn't help but smile at the amount of energy the little one had. Well, hello, to you too. The Gleaming Egg sure had a lot of spunk.

Well, you certainly enjoy your company, don't you? I know the feeling. She rested her fingers on the pale violet shell of the Sweet-as-Sin Egg. To her it seemed like the one inside this egg, felt a need for companionship. She wanted so much to linger, and hesitated slightly before finally moving on, still glancing back at the pale shell surrounded by so many other colors.

Syn had tried to linger back a ways from the other candidates, allowing them to go first. She had never been very fond of crowds nor did she like being in anyone's way. However, try as she might, she still found herself herded into the line somewhere near the front. With a little sigh, Syn resigned herself to her position and walked out onto the sands when it was her turn. Carefully, she took in all of the eggs before her. There were certainly quite a few of them. Where did she start? Feeling a little overwhelmed, Syn moved forward and simply picked a free one at random.

The first egg that she touched was the Silver Lining Egg. She grinned a little as she touched the egg, feeling a bit more at ease on the sands. Whoever impressed the dragon inside would certainly never be without a companion. Not that anyone who impressed a dragon was. Reluctantly, Syn moved onto the next egg. Laying her hand down upon the Gleaming Egg. For a moment, the girl almost pulled her hand away, shocked by how almost energetic this egg seemed to be. It was most definitely welcoming and inviting. The girl wished she had more time to spend with the egg, but she remembered the warning not to linger too long and moved on once more.

Hurrying on, Syn touched the Sweet-as-sin Egg next. This one was just as friendly as the last two and she imagined that that whoever it impressed would certainly always have someone willing to talk to them. Offering the egg a warm smile, the girl moved on once more. Next she made her way to the Crimson Swirl Egg. This particular egg gave her the impression of being watchful, almost as if it accepted responsibility for it's siblings, trying to keep them in line. She imagined it might have it's work cut out for it once it was older. 13 siblings was a large number to watch over.

Freniar stood in the middle of the group, looking at the eggs. His black hair looked like someone came up and rubbed his head, but it was just him. Looking at the queen, the teen gave her a deep bow. It was tougher for her, he knew, than for those of the Weyr.

A deep breath and he stepped up to the eggs, searching for the best one to touch first. Sweet-as-sin seems to be the best one, in the middle of the group, just like him. Freniar puts his scared and tan hands on the shell and grins. He felt he could get along with this dragon, even if it wasn't his. Seeing that it pointed towards the egg that everyone else went to first, Freniar decided to touch Thunderclap next. It wasn't happy that he didn't touch it first, but felt okay at being noticed. Don't worry little one, we all notice you.
PostPosted: Sat May 19, 2012 4:29 pm

After Freniar was finished with the Sweet-as-Sin egg, Dizzian approached it's pale shell. It was so small...all of the eggs were though. Of all signs that Brakiath was in trouble this was one of the most concerning. Still from those she'd already touched, their personalities seemed healthy and strong and she could be sure the dragonets inside would be as well. She laid her hands on the delicate looking egg and was rewarded by the pleasant touch that responded. Yes she needn't worry about these babies they would do their mother and weyr proud! She stroked the lavender shell and with a quick thanks for cheering her up she wandered off.

The Silver Lining egg was next. She traced the splashes of color on it's shell as it began 'talking'. This was a familiar sensation, beneath the dragonets self reflection was the analyzing of herself. This was a hatchling to keep an eye on. There was a deeper layer to this dragonet that the initial self centered conversation let on to.

The Crimson Swirl egg was a delight to touch. Dizzian actually laughed as she felt the dragonet trying to keep it's siblings in check. It reminded her of when she had to watch the weyrbrats and how difficult it could be to reign them all in. She shared an image of unruly children to the hatchling inside, sympathizing with it's plight.

The next egg Ailin approached was a similar experience to the Quiet Pool egg. The Bountiful egg was wonderful. Ailin was pleasantly surprised to find the blue egg so welcoming. Maybe the first two were the exception and not the rule. Ailin truly didn't know and the aimless meandering between eggs had him anxious. The loving presence of this smallest egg was reassuring. As another candidate approached though he moved on.

He approached another blue shelled egg and laid his palms upon the surface of the Deep Thought egg. It reminded him of being tested by the masters, that judgement of his worth as a Harper. It wasn't all that alarming but it certainly didn't feel that friendly towards him. He left it rather quickly.

The Eye of the Storm egg was another confusing egg for him. Like the Quiet Pool egg he stuck around, searching for anything from it but he could sense nothing. Maybe it was a dud? He thought only smaller eggs were duds but then again from what others were saying this clutch was all undersized, and the Bountiful egg was certainly one of the smallest yet it had a strong presence unlike this one.

He moved his hands steadily through the eggs. Each of them giving him a small impression of what they would be like when they hatched. Though he wanted to keep touching them, Freniar understood the strain it was putting on the Gold. Before he started to leave, his hand brushed against the Erupting egg. It was a good thing he wasn't thinking of anything else, or else he might have fallen. The egg made it feel like he was being gutted like a fish. It was enough to make him grin, You will do Yours great justice. With that he gave it a pat, another bow to the Gold and made his way out.

Siano was full of excitement and hope as she strode onto the sands. A touching! How fantastic! After bowing to the Queen, she scanned the sand and looked over the beautiful variety of color.

Her eyes landed on a bright red egg. She grinned it kinda reminded her of fresh cooled lava and so she swayed over to it first. She stroked the shell and then placed her palm flat on the Thunderclap Egg and was rewarded with a large presence who was approving that she had come here first after all HERE was where all the goodness was. Siano quirked a brow. There was a vibrant personality in here! She stiffled a giggle and moved on.

Next her eyes caught the odd shape of the On the Edge egg she cocked her head and went there next. Hrmm I wonder who I will meet in here she mused. She braced herself, expecting an explosion as she had with the thunderclap egg but instead was greeted with the intense focus of a being who was concentrating so hard it had nearly blocked everyone else. She wished she could manage that but alas she was plagued by an overactive imagination and too much energy for one body.

She walked up to the Charge On Egg next and her eyes flared when she touched the shell. That was intense. There was a little knight that could stuffed in this egg. The thought and feeling made her smile broadly. This was a great being to be around. She stroked the shell happily and reasured the egg it could acheive whatever it wanted with that attitude.

Moving on she traced a palm over the Quiet Pool Egg and her mind was gently swirled around by a quiet presence that seemed very zen. She found that interesting and delightfully new. One would think that all eggs would be this balanced and perfect having not seen the wonders of the world.

The Sweet as Sin egg she gave a bemused smile too. This was a busy body that enjoyed company to the max. It must be absolutely delighted with the touching. She patted the egg and moved on.

The Silver Lining Egg Gave her an eloquent greeting. So much so that she almost felt the need to curtsey to the charming lord or lady inside. Old silver tongue itself. Her eyes twinkled at the lovely being occupying the egg.

She was less charmed with the aloof Deep Thought Egg She wasn't here to step on any toes and she moved on quickly.

The Gleaming Egg had an excellent outlook and was pleasurable company to say the least. Siano lingered for a bit and admired the bright patterns on the shell as well as the bright feelings shown to her by the egg. It was a truly dauntless being ready for adventure. She grinned.

The Erupting Egg shocked her. Slicing her, ripping through all her layers like an overly sharp knife and staring at who she truly was in her core. She felt a tad violated and lightly admonished the creature for the direct treatment. She was uncomfortable and hoped it liked what it saw. Brows furrowed she slithered away.

After the previous egg the Bountiful Egg threw her for a loop and she paused and waited for the cut which never came she was simply embraced with love and a deep warmth as if she were in a mental hug. She thanked the egg and moved onto the next. What an emotional whirlwind this was turning out to be.

She slipped over to the Caught in the Surge Egg and was greeted with nothing. Feeling around carefully she did notice a presence and about the time she found it the dragon spewed apologies. What an absent little scholar this dragon reminded her of. She winked at the egg and stood.

The Eye of the Storm Egg was also calm and very quiet. She had a feeling it would enjoy the simpler things in life and appreciate them as more people should.

The Peace and Quiet Egg reminded her of the Eye of the Storm Egg and she started to feel as if she were in a records room instead of a hatching cavern huh.

The Crimson Swirl Egg seemed to have an older sibling feel. It wanted to know what its brothers and sisters were doing so it could figure out if it needed to intervene. Little busy body.

Finished Siano looked each egg over from where she was and hurried out of the chamber happy with her endeavor.

The Charge-on Egg was Dizzian's next target. "Oh! Well you're ready to take on the world aren't you?!" It was the first time this clutch she'd spoken out loud to the eggs. She liked the spunk this one had but even though the egg itself was small she wouldn't be surprised to find a small bronze in there or at least a brown. Either way that little guy would be a handful to train.

The silence from the Quiet Pool egg was disappointing. She caught the hint of awareness from it but something in her said a hatchling should have a stronger interest in the event that this one appeared to have. Still she accepted it's offering of peace pleasantly and moved on.

The Eye of the Storm egg was another disappointingly silent egg. She could barely sense a presence within it at all. Even though it's siblings were all on the right track when it came to development, this little guy might be a late bloomer. At least, that's what she hoped was the case.

Ailin once again paused in his circling of the clutch. How much longer did they have? He was barely halfway done yet he saw candidates leaving the hatching grounds already. Even with the mixture of good and bad responses, Ailin found he was beginning to enjoy himself. The Peace and Quiet egg was tallied into the positive column in his mind. He found it interesting to note that the caring personalities didn't so much remind him of him family as they did his teachers. He gave this one a few extra moments, even if they were running out of time.

The distance of the Caught in the Surge egg almost seemed aloof at first, another possibly proud dragonet? The impression was wiped away at the immediate apology. Ailin reassured it, he wasn't offended. He didn't mind quiet companionship with another. It felt strange to hold a conversation without words but Ailin was becoming more comfortable with the process. This pleasant listener was certainly a nice change from those who always wanted to talk.

Once again reluctant to leave an eggs side, Ailin moved to one close by. The Crimson Swirl egg was finally one that reminded him of family. His second eldest brother, Ryres, had been of a similar temperment. He was the one who always looked after Saresary and Ailin when they were young. Ailin felt he was the nicest of his brothers and so that affection was directed towards the Crimson Swirl egg, thanking it for caring.
