User ImageIt hadn't been that long since Jicho'la'dhoruba had been left to fend for herself. She was old enough, her mother said, to make her own way into the world and she, stubbornly, would do just that. The only problem with this, however, was Jicho's childlike naivety and generally loving nature. Though she was an adult, she was a young one, and had not yet come to realize just how harsh and cruel the wilds could be. She was coming to terms with it, slowly but surely, but was just as optimistic as ever.

Even as she blundered into pridelands, nose to the ground in an effort to find food, without realizing she had crossed borders. The markers where there, but her mind had filtered past them without paying them any mind, for some strange reason or another. She was really, really hungry and her stomach gave a tiny gurgle of dissatisfaction as she continued on her merry way, hardly aware of her gross breach in etiquette. Her inexperience in the ways of the world were showing, but she hardly batted an eye. Her plan was simple. Find food. Find a place to sleep. Sleep. Get up, find more food. She didn't think beyond her little plan and a scowl of determination set in her features as she wrinkled her nose, trying to discern prey-beasts from everything else.

User ImageThe hunt had been a success, even for just two lions... And even with Kiazi stopping to plant a potato. The white and blue lioness licked her maw, then her claws to clean the blood off. It was a wonderful meal, to say the lest - A young zebra, only around a year old and not yet experienced in the world enough to know the exact manners to avoid the claws of a lion or two. It helped to use Kiazi's brown coloring to their advantage and hide him down wind from the herd, while Uziwa used her stark white and bold blue to pop out and scare them into running. She just wished there'd been enough to share with more lions in the clan. As it was, there was only enough left to feed one other lion, and -- "Kiazi, will you STOP that for an hour? Just an hour!" She shot a glare at her mate, though there was no malice in the glare.

User ImageHe was digging again. Full from his meal, Kiazi had gone to work again spreading potatoes through the world. He looked up from the small hole he'd dug and looked sheepish. "But Uziwa..." He used his claws to cut a potato in half, then dropped part into the ground. "It begged me to be planted!" Well, as much as a potato could beg. Not that they could beg, that'd be sort of weird. He couldn't imagine a potato starting to talk... What would it even sound like? He shoved dirt over the potato, then started digging another hole for the other half.

The scent of blood was like a beacon to the young, inexperienced lioness and her paws acted on their own accord, altering her course towards the pair of lions that had made the kill. Any notion that she should have fear of them, or perhaps a pride, seemed to go out the window as the sheer will to eat overcame her common sense. She heard them before she saw them, though the lioness's stark white pelt caused her to stick out like a sore thumb. It was only then that she found herself wanting to turn back. Two against one would turn out ill in favor of her, should they decide to attack the interloper.

But... What was the male doing? Digging? What was that he had? Confusion won out and she cleared her throat as she approached, self conscious of her own appearance as she did so.

"Hi, uhm..." What would she even say that didn't sound stupid or silly.

"I was just wandering by and... What are you doing?" She couldn't control the curious and befuddled inflection in her tone as she watched Kiazi dig.

Kiazi stopped, blinking in surprise before he smiled at the lioness. "Oh! I'm planting potatoes!" He finished the hole and dropped the potato half in, before shoving dirt over it. "Everywhere I go, I cut a potato in half and plant the halves so two plants grow!" He brushed the dirt from his paws off onto the grass. "See, for a potato plant to grow, you have to cut a potato in half, and each half, when planted, will sprout roots and a plant off the eyes on the potato half, becoming a lot MORE potatoes!" He then offered the lioness a smile. "So what are YOU up to?"

The lioness sighed at her mate, giving him a flat look. Ah, yes, an education in potato horticulture... She wondered for a moment if he ever thought of planting something else, maybe something useful. Could lions even EAT potatoes? Why not grow some sort of herb that could be used in healing? "I think she's mostly wandering, Kiazi..." She turned her attention to the lioness, ears pricking. "You look a bit hungry..." She motioned to the zebra yearling. "Would you care for a bite? There's enough left for only one lion, and it may as well benefit someone who looks like they need it."

"Potatoes. Huh." She listened politely as the male described what he was doing, but she didn't really get it. She dabbled in plants herself, but she dealt in scents and didn't actually grow what she used. She blinked her violet eyes in befuddled curiosity, but she didn't really understand why he would plant potatoes. His mate seem to share her own sentiments.

"Ah, yeah, I am mostly wandering." She offered the two a smile and, realizing she hadn't introduced herself properly - how rude! - she bowed her head slightly in greeting.

"I'm Jicho. Er, Jicho'la'dhoruba. Jicho for short, though." At the offering she felt both relieved and a bit embarrassed. "Are you sure?" She didn't want to intrude, though it was a bit too late for that already.
