 Joou was enjoying the sun, well kind of. She was off on her own checking on Kisetsu's borders. Her daughter Ava was running the tribe and doing a good job so far. They were still pretty small so that meant some of the members had some extra jobs besides their main. Though since Joou was ex elder she took it upon herself to be the one to mark their territory to warn others while the new tribe members got to know each other and their position.
It was a hidden blessing to her though. It gave her time to clear her mind and not have to see some of the pda of the other foxes. While she was happy for them it reminded her of the hole in her heart and she didn't want her daughter to see her so sad when she had to all that time while she was growing up. Joou let out a soft sigh as she followed the territories line.

 Ardin hated himself. He had spent so long from home and he hadn’t seen his beloved Joou in so long. He had lost their child. Pyre was gone and he didn’t even know if she were dead or alive. He had looked for her for weeks. Then when he had been ready to come home he had looked again. Now he was slinking back to Joou empty handed. What was he going to tell her? Hello I’m back and our daughter is gone and possibly dead?
Coming to the land where he believed Joou to be might be a mistake. She’d want to kill him, or she’d start to cry. That was of course if she were still there. He wouldn’t blame her for leaving. She was a beautiful vixen that had a bright and fun personality. Who’s to say that some other fox hadn’t come along and stolen her away? He growled at himself not sure if that thought should make him feel better or worse. It did piss him off though. He wanted to rip apart any male that so much as looked at Joou with impure intentions, just as much as he wanted to hurt himself for losing their BCR. Still he traveled forward into an uncertain future. He just wanted to be home.

She was trying to shake off this down feeling that had such a tight grip on her. Maybe she would go visit Ico her newly found male friend. He seemed to have gotten her into a better mood last time she had seen him. It was like taking medicine it got rid of all the bad for a while but you needed another dose to make the bad stay gone before it came back. Though maybe she had waited to long to visit who knew everything was in fates hands and no one knew what would happen next.

Still arguing with himself the male wandered toward home when he noticed white moving off to his far left. It was moving toward him, but he knew that form anywhere. It was Joou. He opened his mouth to call out but no voice would come. He was mostly obscured by foliage at the moment but he knew that it would only be a matter of time before she came close enough to smell him. He tried to move into the open and ended up tripping on a root and stumbled out. He looked at Joou and felt his heart tighten in his chest.

Joou was just about to leave her scent on a spot where the tribes marking was growing thin when she heard a loud thud. This startled her and she whipped her head up to see what was. Not far from her was a black and blue thing laying on the ground. She knew it wasn't Ico because he had white. She approached with caution letting out a fierce snarl and showing her teeth to the intruder.

Ardin could hear growling. That struck him as odd. She wasn’t a fierce fox, she was sweet and cuddly. He turned his head and looked at her. “Joou.” His voice was quite and he felt subdued. He would be fine if she simply killed him on sight. She was snarling at him and she didn’t even know what had happened yet. Surely she would lash out at him once she found out. Getting up Ardin was ready for it.

Before he had gotten up she had snapped out the question "What are you doing here outsider? If you have come to cause trouble you will not succeed." Which was the truth. She wouldn't let anything happen to her tribe. She was ready for anything. Her body was pumping with adrenaline and her fur was bristling. Than she seen his face and her heart fell. Everything stopped. She hadn't expected this, this she wasn't ready for. "What are youdoing here?" the anger and hurt in her voice showed that she knew who he was.

Outsider? When had the warm and welcoming sweet Joou he knew become so cold and harsh? He looked at her not sure where to start. It pissed him off. Why was he so sad and upset? Well he knew the reasons why but he was stronger than this and he knew it. “That’s some way to greet your mate, my lady.” The last time he had called her that they had been playing tag and thinking of the future. How very long ago it seemed. “I have news to tell you, it’s not good.” He looked down and his voice was subdued. He needed to figure out how to tell Joou everything that had happened. Where could he start?

"What mate? Had a male be with me and leave me and our child behind on our own taking my other baby with him. That's not very good mate material," Joou told him snidely. She felt a bit bad about saying it but than again it made her feel better to let it all out at him. She paused, "What do you mean you don't have good news to tell me."

The remark she made left a raw sting in his side. She had a right to hate him, but it wasn’t his fault he had been gone so long. He hated himself for sounding like a whining kit in his mind. “The reason I’ve been gone so long. I never had any intention of leaving you and other child alone so long. It was because I was looking for our child that came with me. She’s ...” Ardrin felt his mind swirl in the agony of losing her all over again. He swallowed hard. “She’s gone Joou. She’s gone and I couldn’t find her. It didn’t matter how hard I looked. I couldn’t find her.” He looked at Joou and he didn’t even notice as a tear slid from his sea foam eyes and disappear into his dark fur.

"Their names are Pyre and Ava, Adrin. Not our daughter that stayed with me and the one that went with you. They have names and they are ours," She snapped growing more upset. They weren't just things that were nameless and faceless they were their babies.
She stomped her foot in the ground while fighting back tears. But she was failing and falling fast. Here he was, her love, her mate the one of her dreams. The father of her kids, gone forever to come back and say that he lost their precious babe. "So your telling me that you lost Prye, our baby...MY baby girl. That they day I had them you picked her up gave her a name told me you would be back shortly and was just gone. During that time you managed to lose her and than couldn't find her."She stared at him eyes filling with tears. Her heart was breaking even more. How could he do this to her?

No! He wanted to yell at Joou not to say their names. That only made it more painful. All he could manage was a quite. “I know their names.” She was mad at him. She had a right to be. He hated himself for causing her this pain. She was going to cry.
Moving forward Adrin tried to embrace Joou. He didn’t want this. He didn’t want her to cry. He was already so upset he was hollow but this was new pain to Joou and he its deliverer. “I was out when a storm came. I took shelter from the wind in a tree and was safe for a time, but then the nature of the storm changed. Lightning struck and a fire started. I had to leave. While I ran I felt something hit me hard on the back of the head. I woke up to find Pyre..” Adrin swallowed feeling his heart clench with pain he thought he had under control at his daughter's name. It was hard to breathe. He managed to say the last word but he did it while shaking. “Gone.”

"Do you?"she asked in response to his first comment. Tears rolled down her white cheeks.
She glared at him as he came closer but didn't stop him. How could she? She felt so weak. Her baby girl gone. "You should have stayed.. I wanted you to stay, but you left. You left and took her with you,' she cried out with her face buried into his neck as she cried. She wanted to scream as loud as she could to let the pain out but she didn't think it would help.

Holding her close he nodded into her fur. “I know, I know.” He stroked her fur softly while she cried into his neck. She was so small, so frail, so full of sorrow. “I know Joou. Tell me is Ava.. is she alright?” He swallowed hard. He had lost one child. Losing the other would destroy him. He sighed deeply and didn’t know what else to do. Let her cry not knowing how to comfort her when he was suffering himself. How had Joou been in his absence? Was there someone else now?

Joou sank into him. She had missed him so bad over the years. Wanted him to come home everyday and now that he was she was mad at him. Yelled and screamed and was mean. She lashed out at him in anger and pain because of what had happened. "I'm sorry," she said softly threw her tears. "Ava is elder now with her mate by her side. He is a city boy and is very different but treats her like a princess and is protective over her."
