Kokoleka sat upon the sand along the shore of the great lake that was part of her home. There were many thoughts on her mind. The most dominant of those was how to thank Mini and how to help bring more members to the clan. She was afraid to go into the rogue lands to recruit new members. At the same time, she was unsure if she was ready to find someone to have cubs with. For the most part, she kept to herself. The one she was closest to was none other than the Aliʻi herself. Perhaps it was time for her to make friends. The clear waters of the lake offered her no suggestions.

Anga panted as he waded through the grass. He's traveled a long way from the dry savanna. As a matter a fact, why was he walking so far? Normally, using up too much energy was a no-go. Exercise was over rated. It made him hot and grumpy, two things he never enjoyed. Plus, he looked good already, no need for extra exertion.

His tongue lolled out from between his jowls. Man, he was thirsty. His paw caught in a dip in the ground and he lunged forward. He rolled forward and just laid there, defeated. His nose twitched and snorted as he unclogged some grass and dirt from his nostrils. Stupid ground, making me fall. His eyes darted to what little dirt he could see through his awkward position. A mud puddle greeted his eyes. Water! He un-tangled himself and dashed towards it. His tongue darted out and lapped at the mud. His mouth was welcomed by a big helping of dirt. He gagged and spat out the mud. Ugg, Anga needed real water. Raising his head for a better view, Anga scanned the horizon. His eyes fell on a lake not too far from where he stood.
Ah! Praise the gods!
With his last bit of energy left, he raced forward, his eyes trained on the water's edge. As he got nearer, he sped up and glared at the lake with a new determination. In one giant leap, Anga cleared the distance between himself and the lake, landing cleanly in the water. He let himself sink the few feet to the bottom before kicking himself back to the surface. Ahhhhhh~ water, how I have missed you. He wadded back to the edge and pulled himself from the water.
He took a few, giant gulps before plopping himself on a nice, warm rock.
A sigh passed through his lips. He could get used to this.

Koko was deep in her thoughts. Her eyes were not focused on anything in particular. Her ears were not alert for sounds. So it was a very shocking surprise to her when she saw a black and blue male lion leap into the water. He must not have seen her because he ended up climbing onto one of the large rocks that could be occasionally found scattered along the shoreline of the great lake.

Having never really been in contact with any rogues since usually the maka kilo greeted any that came onto the land, she was rather cautious at first. Koko made a mental note to talk to those that were on patrol at this time of day. Clearly they were lax due to the peace the clan was currently enjoying. He didn't seem dangerous and was mostly dark colored. Except for the bit of white he had, he wasn't pale at all. That meant he probably wouldn't be dangerous.

She approached him slowly, making sure to position herself so he could see her. Then she made a small coughing sound to get his attention. "Excuse me. Do you know what lands you tread on?"

His belly full of water and pelt warm from the sun, Anga let out a peaceful sigh. This was the life. No more running around the hot savanna trying to scavenge up some food. This lake offered the perfect spot to easily pick off prey that traveled to the water's edge.

Anga was drawn out of his blissful thoughts when words penetrated his brain. He raised his head to the direction of the noise and his eyes were met with a dark colored female. Woah~ a female. Anga lived a very solitary life and rarely met other lions, let alone females. He seemed to rub some people the wrong way. Not that he could imagine why.

"Uh," he uttered, "well, this here is a lake." He gestured towards the water.
"And this a rock." He patted the rock.
"I'm more than willing to share if you'd like a spot. It's quite comfy," he said with a grin.

Clearly he was not a very smart lion. The way he reacted to her, it was as if he owned the rock that he lay on when he didn't. Koko's nostrils flared slightly as she tried to not yell at him for his stupidity. She pinned him with a serious stare. "You are currently on Kapūkolu Ikaika lands. Now I suggest you identify yourself properly." In her head she added, and not act like you own this place. Usually, she would have offered him a more cheerful greeting since they were trying to get more members but he just rubbed her the wrong way. How dare he offer to share the rock with her. Maybe she was just cranky from not knowing the answers to the things she had been pondering. Koko didn't care really, she just wanted to know what he was doing here. Then she'd figure out if he was staying for good or only visiting.

Anga noticed the intensity in her eyes and the way her nostrils flared. Oh, great. He's done something to piss her off. He mentally sighed. I swear, I'm always doing something wrong. Well, this was such a lovely place and he didn't want to get chased off so quickly... so Anga peeled himself off the rock and stepped more into the open. He sat and loosened his muscles to appear smaller and hopefully, friendlier.

"Woah, woah. Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to step on anybody's paw here." He raised his own paw before continuing. "The name's Anga and I've been walking for miles." He gestured in the direction he came from. "Just sort of~ you know... wandering around. Lookin' for a good place to rest my rump. Then just before I'm about to die." He places a paw over his heart and hunches over in mock pain.
"I noticed this... this place of salvation." He hunches over more, allowing his mane to hide his face.
"And then just before I'm about to die..." Pause for dramatic effect. "...the warrior spirit takes my soul and throws me into the welcoming arms of water herself." He throws his forearms up in the air and raises his face towards the heavens.
He cocks his head back towards the only audience member.

So that was what he was here for. He was simply thirsty and hungry. Koko felt a little bad about being so unfriendly towards him now that she knew. Still, he shouldn't have said the things the way he did. She didn't care for his overly dramatic ways. But it would be needlessly mean to deny him hospitality. She let out a little sigh and then offered him a smile.

"If you were hungry and thirsty, you could have just said so." She turned around and let her tail swish away the sand that was stuck to the fur on her hind legs. "There is fish this way if you would like some?" Koko looked at him with her big green eyes. Her smile was still there, a genuine one. Perhaps he would stay if she was nice to him.

Anga let go of the breath he'd been holding. He was hoping his demeanor didn't annoy her. It was lonely always being left out because of something he said, though he'd never admit it. The offer of fish sounded fantastic. It's been a while since he's had fish. Living in the savanna for so long really only offered gamy meat buckets. Not that it was bad, but it was time to mix it up a bit.

"Sure! I'm starving and fish is perfect." He stood up and padded over to her. He kept a well enough distance to be close, but not in her personal space.
"Since we're about to embark on an epic adventure to rustle up some fish...what should I call my partner in crime?" He asked, as his head tilted to one side and with an edge of a smile.

Koko did her best to not roll her eyes at him. As it were, her jaw was clenched tightly to keep herself from making a harsh remark. There was no longer a smile on her face. Who knew being nice to rogues would be so hard? How did Aliʻi Mini do it? Clearly, she did not have the grace or kindness of her beloved queen because she was about to swat this lion upside the head with her paw.

"We have some fish in supply already from today's catch. There are also some strips of fish drying to make jerky for when food supply runs low. We can also catch our own if you'd prefer that." She attempted another smile. Maybe catching their own fish would prove to her if he was really ready to join their clan. After all, they lived off mostly fish except during feasts.

Anga padded forward a bit and contemplated his choices. He's lived most of his life in the savanna, so hunting for fish isn't something he's familiar with. He wouldn't want to look like an idiot in front of a lioness, but then again... he'd love to try his paw at catching fish. I wonder if I could swim fast enough to snap my jaws around a fish belly... He thought to himself. While he was thinking about nibbling on some fish, he opened and closed his mouth, imagining the precision needed to execute the kill. He nodded his head after reaching a decision.

"Alright! Let's go catch our own fish." He was looking forward to the adventure ahead. Leaving the savanna was the first step in exploring not only new territories, but who he was as a lion. There was no way he was going to back down from a new experience.
His new found determination glowed on his features.

This time, Koko didn't have to fake a smile or work for it. It came naturally to her. She was glad that he was up for the challenge. It earned him a little bit of respect from her, even if she didn't tell him. Not all lions that came from the savannahs of rogue life were willing to dive straight into fishing. "Sounds good. I am Kokoleka."

She stretched out her muscles. Since she was no longer a lawaiʻa, she didn't fish as often. But Koko enjoyed swimming and had been with the clan long enough that it came naturally to her. There was a certain technique that she liked to use. They never fished in the same area all the time. Their range was big enough that they never overfished. "I like to stun them with my paw first and then snatch them in my mouth. You gotta be quick." She demonstrated by pulling her paw back slowly and then slamming it against the ground really fast. She smiled up at him before heading into the water slowly, head ducking below the water every now and then to look at the fish below.

Alright, Anga was pleased with himself. For once he didn't scare away somebody after talking to them for a few minutes. He can now add that to his list of accomplishments. Not that it was very long... in fact, eating a bug was on there. Not the most steller list, but it made him happy.

Anga studied Kokoleka's demonstration on fish hunting. He lifted up his own paw and tested the motions. He could do this, yep. It's the swimming while hunting at the same time that worried him, but if she could do it, he could too.

Anga wadded in after Kokoleka. Anga thought she moved with confidence in the water. It was obvious she's done this quite often. No worries, he thought to himself, I can do this too. He got deep enough in the water that his paws couldn't touch the ground. Then he started diving for a short bit. He couldn't hold his breath very long, but it gave him time to look around.

Koko treaded water and watched how Anga moved in the water. She gave him a small nod of approval along with a smile. "Not bad for a rogue. At least you didn't sink like a rock." Some lions had no swimming skills at all. Then there were those that could swim but goofed around and met a horrible ending. She shuddered at the thought. It would be wise to keep a close eye on him.

Once again, she ducked her head under the water again. This time she stayed under for longer than the last to really look at the fish. Not too far from them was a fat looking fish. That would be a good meal for him. She slowly swam towards him, the fish would eventually get lulled into a false sense of security. They were used to lions just swimming without hunting. "There is a good sized one not too far or too deep. I can drive it towards you and then you can catch it. If it gets close to your mouth, feel free to just snap it up in your jaws. Ready?"

Anga kicked his back feet a little harder to get his whole head out of the water. His mane sort of weighed him down, which was annoying because he had to spend extra energy to get his big head out the water.
"There's no way I could sink~ I'm too full of gas." He snorted bubbles from his nose as he laughed while sinking back into the water. It was sad, but his own jokes made him laugh. At least he'd never be sad.

Though, at the instructions for catching the fish, Anga needed to be serious. You can't catch a fish with bad jokes. Though... he wasn't quite sure how he was going to catch a fish and not let all the water go down his throat. Oh, well. He'll figure it out as it happened. One of those, in the moment kind I things, he guessed. "Lets do this."

Koko nodded and motioned slowly for him to keep an eye on the fish. She swam around their target, above the surface so it wouldn't know she was after it. Then she plunged below, using her leg muscles to pull her through the water. The fish below panicked. Carefully, she maneuvered herself to drive that one fish towards Anga. Hopefully he would be ready because the fish would soon be on him! Lucky thing Koko had lived with the clan for some time. She had gotten used to holding her breath. The longer one could hold their breath, the better.
