Roserain
Dear Cy,
Yo Sexy~
Lil' Miss Kitty Cat!

Hey.

I'm not sure why I'm doing this. Or what I'm even trying to say. It's just that I find myself worrying about you. I know you want everyone to think that you're fine, but... Hell Cy, I don't know. Every time I think I've got you figured out you surprise me. Don't think I'm complaining or nothing. It's interesting, trying to puzzle you out, but when you looked at me that way... like you were so lost and scared...

Is everything ok?

I don't want to ever see you that way again. Not freaking ever, do you hear me? The thought of what could put such a shadow on your face terrifies me.
Wait. No, that's not right. Not terrifies. It takes all my thought away, and that is what's terrifying. I'd say it almost calms me, but you can't be calm if there's just nothing left behind. I become what I used to be, before I could remember light and laughter. There's nothing but the animal left, and he only wants one thing.
God help whoever it is that hurt you so bad, because if I ever find them...

I'm always here to help.

I want you to know I am here for you, in your corner. Maybe that doesn't sound like much to you, I don't know. Better to have me at your back than at your throat, right? Not that you don't enjoy pissing me off, or fighting with me. But that's how it is, isn't.
You don't try and change that about me.
Or anything about me.
You might not always like it, but you accept me for who I am. I dare say you might even understand, but I don't want to get too optimistic, just in case. Though the way you appreciate things that matter to me, it kind of gives me hope. I don't know why.

... I wanted to say thanks.

Come to think of it, it's more than just hope. Not that I know what to call it. Things are... different. Somehow. Ugh, I don't know! It's like... like suddenly realizing the moon can be just as bright as the sun. Opposite, different, but just as good. ... That's not what I meant. I mean, they both have things that are better or worse than the other. The sun is warm and inviting, but the moon is mysterious and has her intoxicating secrets...
I think... Heh, I can almost hear you making some snide comment or some little jab.
And see? I can hear you, even in my head. I wonder about how you would react to things, and sometimes even take it into consideration.
Damn it Cy, what the hell did you do to me?

Don't ask me what for. I won't tell you.

But damn my lying mouth if I ever said I don't like it. Flirting with you is like dancing with death. Exhilarating, unpredictable, dangerous.
I can never be sure of the outcome. One day it might be a bullet in my head, but I'm betting it's just as likely I'll end up with scratches on my back.
For some reason I'm all-too-willing to find out.

Though I can always use my tongue to express it in other ways...~

Besides, the flirting keeps us safe. Keeps us from wandering too far, delving too deep. The bantering protects us from the real pains we're not ready to touch.
And don't act like you're above it.
I see it, how it's cathartic for you. I might not always mean what I say, but I mean how I feel. And there's no doubt about that, Cy. Even if there's no words for it.

Don't keep me waiting. ♥

Forever yours,
Always,
When the mood suits me,
Sincerely,

Later~

Boris:
He balanced the tray carefully, but kept his grip tight incase Murphy and his damned laws decided to make an appearance; namely as one of the rugrats tearing around a corner and running right into him or something. Boris checked over his shoulder for about the tenth time since leaving the kitchen as he felt the slightest tug on his tail. Ruger, heavily buried in his own puff of fur that Boris had helped him fashion after his harrowing incident, was still clinging to him with his eyes impossibly wide. It was all he could do not to sigh at his son. There would be time for that later though, and he continued down the hall.

Sarin’s door remained shut and Boris didn’t even bother waking her, if she wanted to give Cy something for Mother’s Day, it would be on her own time; Boris had given up on that battle a long time ago. Lewi’s was wide open and he didn’t have to look in to know he was gone. Probably out the window, or maybe he snuck past while Boris was in the kitchen, but what did it matter? He wasn’t the ‘real’ father, and that’s all Lewi seemed to care about. What could he say?

Glaive on the other hand… well, he just knew to be prepared. Ruger was tugging harder on his tail when he approached that door. Slightly ajar, Boris bumped it with his foot to open it further only to see an empty room.

“Glaive…?”

Oh, she was in here alright. Somewhere. But would he take the bait? It would speed things up, certainly. Resigning himself to fatherhood, the Cheshire cat took a few cautious steps into the bedroom, only to have his hip and thigh assaulted from behind. His daughter had popped out from behind the door and was mercilessly attacking him with a little, wooden sword she had fashioned out of sticks. Reprimanding her was pointless, she’d just find it more gratifying when she did attack him. Instead he stood there with his ears flopped down in defeat and his shoulders slumped as he sighed. She’d wear herself out in a moment, but her form was just terrible. But what could he expect from a six year old?

“Glaive, you know what day it is. How about, just for today, we call a truce. And if you don’t attack me I might actually show you how to use that thing.”

Of course her hits just became harder. She giggled and gave him a good whack to his thigh, one that actually stung, and he gritted his teeth.

Alright! That’s enough out of you, little punk. C’mon, before you wake your mother.”

Switching the tray to one hand, he swooped down to grab her around the middle with the other, holding her horizontal against his hip the way he might carry a puppy. Gratefully she’d dropped her ‘sword’ in shock, otherwise this would be a very precarious situation on his part. As it was she just struggled while suspended. He didn’t turn around, but rather backed out of the room, what with Ruger still staring from the threshold with his tail still clutched in little hands.
This day was already more than he bargained for.

But, he’d promised to let Cy sleep in. Promised, and by damn, how hard could four kids be for a few extra hours?

Next Mother’s Day, he’d just have to pay off Fluff and whisk Cy somewhere pleasant, no kids. The thought warmed him and he towed the two into his own bedroom, where Cy was still snuggled under the thick covers. Easing the tray on the nightstand, he deposited Glaive unceremoniously on the bed and turned around Ruger to do the same to his son. By the time he was looking at her, Cy’s eyes were already opened and full of mirth.

He knew damn well she hadn’t been asleep for some time, and was just enjoying this too much. Damn her. He grinned back wickedly, telling her he knew without words, and there would be hell to pay later. Perhaps something they’d both enjoy…

When Glaive started wrestling her brother.

“Alright, alright! Kids, c’mon.”

He reached over to pull them apart, dragging Ruger into Cy’s lap as she sat up. Sighing, he gave her a weary look, to which she only gave him a knowing expression. They were happy, believe it or not. Challenged, surprised, and constantly worn out by parenthood, but it kept him on his toes for sure. He nuzzled his mate lovingly, purring slightly in the process.

Which of course merited a gagging sound from Glaive and Ruger promptly hid his whole face in his ruff. So Boris went ahead and kissed Cy for good measure, making sure to gross out his offspring as much as possible before sitting on the edge of the bed with his family, still chuckling.

“Happy Mother’s Day, Cy~”

Glaive wrinkled her nose and waited till her father had stopped kissing her mother before she moved to hug her mommy around the neck and look at her with wide sweet eyes. "Happy you gave birth to us day!" She twittered pleased before pulling back and looking over at her father. She had done right, right? This was what he wanted, yes? He has said something about it before now. She took a few steps back before toddling over and tugging herself up into Boris' boa.

Cy gave a light laugh and snuggled her baby girl and boy. She was happy if nothing else and this was some of the best times in her life. "Thank you, sweeties." She said with a bright smile at them all before she pulled the tray over and began eating. Offering some to Ruger who was still in her lap as Glaive terrorized her father.
