Posted here for reference:Kimaria The thoughts that haunted Kirjava's mind did not even slip into Kib's as she stood beside her. For her mind alowed her to see every situation with a silver lining - even when it was quite obvious there wasn't one. What could be good about being a slave? Well...in Kiburi's mind it had given her a family, the sister she had always wanted. It was nice having a brother but...it just wasn't the same.
"Never mind!" Kiburi squeaked, "I suppose that's a good thing. Don't want too many lions here getting all involved in this." She shook her small frame and took a step away, gazing around the pride. She saw the lion speaking with one another, smiling and actually looking rather pleasant. She flicked an ear and gazed back at her sister.
"Perhaps we should sneak off now to find this den whilst they're all busy?" She waited for the lionesses reply, sun beating off her pale skin. At the question, the cream and crimson lioness nodded her head, "I should think so. They won't miss us too badly, and if they do, they just have to call." Turning to start move away from their current position, all that crimson eyes spotted were sand dunes. She flicked her tail and turned back to Kib, "Hm, this shall be quite fun as all I see are sand dunes! Time to go find us a den, Sis!"

Kiburi felt strangely free even if she was sentenced to a life of slavery, perhaps it was just finding a new family member, or maybe it was the lucious golden scenery that flowed in all directions. This place had a dangerous beauty and was something she was glad her eyes had been able to look upon.
It still felt strange to have the sand between her toes however, especially since she was used to walking upon firm ground. It was then that she wondered upon something. She looked up, ever smiling towards her newfound companion, "yep, then this place really will be home!" She squeaked! "But I was just wondering...what could the lions here eat anyway? I don't think antelope like to bounce around on sand and when I entered this place I only saw one tiny little lizard."
She wrinkled her nose then, "I don't think lizards will taste very nice...do you?"

Wandering around with the sand beneath her, crimson eyes gazed at the golden scenery before them as the red lions were slowly fading from her mind. Though, she was, of course, conscious that they knew the play around here better than she did. At Kiburi's smile, Kirjava couldn't help but have a smile upon her own features. Her tail flicked as she nodded, "Of course! We will make it as much of a home to us as possible." While they meandered around, crimson eyes searched for a place to build a den. At the question, she was slightly take back. That was a good question indeed. "I've never really thought about it...perhaps there are some stray animals that wander here, but I'm not to sure. I've heard there is an oasis somewhere close that might house rabbits!"

Kiburi agreed wholeheartedly with what Kirjava said and the smile on her face widened. "An oasis?" She queried, "I wonder how far it is? Though...I suppose it's best to stay away from places where the red pelts might go. They might get all angry and start kicking up a fuss." She continued, "they need to learn manners."
She bounced forwards lightly on her golden paws, snuffling as the sand crept up to her nostrils. Then twitching her ears forwards she turned to gaze at the red and grey lioness.
"I wonder where we should start looking for a home. I know of some animals that dig into the ground but I don't think this sand will be very good for that." She wrinkled her nose, "I wish there was someone who could help us." But that was false hope, for not a single member of the pride would bother with them.

With the other members behind, Kirjava felt more free with Kiburi. Crimson eyes scanned the area before she thought she saw something up ahead. Her tail flicked before pointing it out, "I think there's something up ahead...unless I'm just seeing things again." A small laugh escaped at the end of her sentence, as in the desert, she was sometimes prone to see things. As for the red pelts, she felt the same way about them. "They do; they're too uptight and aggressive."
At the sand, she glanced down at it and raked a paw slowly through it. "No, digging probably wouldn't be any good with the sand. Perhaps we'll get lucky and find a den." She had her hopes, at least.

Kiburi gazed agead too just in case it wasn't her friend's imagination but the golden sand just made her dizzy. "I can't see anything...I don't think." This place was beautiful but she began to suspect that after a while the view of the desert got a little dull... She giggled however, a thought entering her mind. "Maybe the firekin lions need a massage!" Her mother had often told her that her little paws had been relaxing as they kneaded against her stomach and back.
She paused, canting her head and gazed around once more. "There must be lots of dens somewhere, it's just a matter of sniffing them out." She wiggled her nose then and patted at her own tail with a paw. She missed pouncing on her brother's tail...how was he anyway? She hoped he wasn't getting himself into trouble.
"Let's keep going in case they send someone after us."

Shaking her head, the distant vision vanished from view. A sigh escaped her, "I think it was just a mirage..." The desert sure is playing tricks on them! Kirjava turned to smile at Kiburi with a slight nod of her head, "We should...we're bound to find a den, I hope so." Hopefully they did, and while hoping she thought about what Kib said.
With the sun against her back, her ears flicked slightly still getting used to the unbearable heat that the desert held. While she wasn't one to complain, she was beginning to wonder how the red pelts could even stay in the sun all day long. "A massage would probably do them wonders. I think being out in this desert all the time makes them a bit uptight. Plus, there's no grass." Oh, she did miss the grass between her paws.

The cliffs that had housed the firekin for generations swung into view as the two slaves topped the next dune and Kiburi's heart skipped a beat at the natrual scene laid out before her. "You think that's a mirage too or...or do you think that could be our shelter?" She questioned as her paws moved daintily across the sand.
"My ears don't like the sun...so hopefully we'll find shade there at any rate." She wrinkled her snout, dipped her head and plodded onwards. Her pale ears lay flat against her skull and her tail dragged across the ground behind her.
"I wish there was grass here and trees too, and birds and flowers and all thos other things! But for now cliffs will do!" She laughed.

Following Kiburi's gaze, crimson eyes settled on something in the distance. Did they finally find what they were looking for at last? Kirjava whispered, "I don't know...." As soon as the words left her mouth, before she could hear the leaves rustle in the passing breeze, wherever that came from. Ears turned slightly, "If this is a mirage...it seems pretty real to me, Kib!"
Even if the plants were a little scraggly in appearance, it was something against the golden sands. Plopping herself down next to a little bush, she looked back to Kib, "A nice place to take a rest stop?"

"Me too!" She chirped, bouncing alongside her sister until she came to a halt alongside a scraggly looking plant. "Sure, my legs probably could do with a rest." She lay down too, taking a great liking to the little bit of shade they had found.
A moment of silence passed over them, not awkward however but more companionship than most. Kib already felt close to Kirjava as if she truly was her blood sister and after a moment she turned to the other, her eyes sparkling.
"How did you come about the Firekin lands?" She questioned, for she doubted many would tackle the desert without some reason.

A smile passed Kirjava's features as she listened to Kiburi. It was a shame that the crimson and tan female didn't know of any of her siblings, that is, if she had any. This was like a blessing to her, in a strange way considering the status of her life at the moment. A pain in her stomach felt weird as she tilted her head slightly. Shaking her head, she thought nothing of it and turning her crimson eyes back to Kib's blue ones, taking in the little shade they were offered. "I'm not sure...I'm a wanderer and like to see everything I can, and one day I stumbled across the desert. I thought I had found a place where there was no one here, but then I figured out I was wrong." A slight nod of her head before she asked, "Did you have a reason for coming here?"

She noticed Kirjava flinch but for now let it be for Kib was sure that if there was a problem her sister would speak up. So for now she listened quietly to the red and grey lionesses' tale with interest evident on her face.
"A desert doesn't seem a likely place for a pride that's for sure." Kib agreed with a nod of her head. "I'm here because...well..." She sighed, for thinking back that far brought memories of family...her true family. She sniffled her nose and then turned to gaze across the sand. Had her mother and father forgotten about her now? She had been told before leaving that her mother wanted more cubs...cubs that would undoubtably take her place. She was forgotten perhaps even by Mchele.
Her heart ached with a sudden terrible pain and her eyes suddenly swirled with a wash of tears that she just managed to keep at bay. "I left my family in the Pridelands so that I could prove I was strong. I weak and small as a cub and even now! They always thought I wouldn't survive, but home was boring and I wanted adventure. So I decided that I'd leave for excitement and to prove to them I could take care of myself." She sniffed, "seems like they were right after all..." Oh how she hated to admit it.
"Anyway, on my travels I met up with a lion who had wings! He told me there was a place where I might find comfort, he led me to the desert and told me what direction to take. Then I met Lord Kimeti and he made me into a...a slave."

As the sun was beginning to set and the heat was lessening, Kirjava took it and saviored the cool desert. For once, she was actually thankful for it being cool. Smiling softly as she flicked her tail, listening to Kiburi, she smiled softly, "I don't think they're right, Kib! You're not weak nor a cub." She inched closer to nuzzle her sister softly in console, she didn't want to see any tears shed. But, the last part perked her interest slightly, a lion with wings?
"A lion with wings?! I've never seen a lion with wings before," Pausing briefly, she began to think, "Find comfort in this place? I'm not sure about the lions here being all the comforting but I can be!...I wonder how many other prides there are." At the end of her exclamation came the nod of her head.

The kind words spoken by Kirjava touched Kiburi with a warmth and comfort she hadn't felt for a long time and after a moment she moved to rest her head upon the other's shoulder, releasing a soft sigh. "Thank you sis. I'm going to be strong now, for me and for everyone."
Then with that out of the way she raised her head and nodded, eyes immediately sparkling. She had never spoken about Baku with anyone else but she trusted Kirjava now. "Yes, he was a God lion, but only little, he must have been a cub or something. He was called Master Baku...or just Baku...but seeing as he was a God I though I should give him a good title." She nodded, "he encouraged me to follow my dream and become a rogue, find adventure in the freedom that it offered. He was very helpful. But....he must have misunderstood me when he led me here...you see it wasn't his fault. I told him I wanted to be strong and brave, prove I could fight off anyone. Maybe he thought that I could be trained here? He must not have known the Firekin enslaved outsiders."
Oh she was a naive girl, little did she know that Baku had planned this all along, perhaps it was her infatuation that kept her from speaking highly of him.
Or maybe it was the truth when people said she was ignorant.

With the moments that Kiburi rested her head on Kirjava's shoulder, the crimson and tan female felt happy. At Kib's words she smiled, "That's good! If you don't think you're strong then you'll just set yourself up for failure."
As ears perked forward to listen to the words about Baku, she was curious. A god. She had heard about gods and goddesses, but had never met one herself. "I've heard about gods, but I've never actually met one! That must be a special thing, to meet a god." Not have known about the Firekin taking in slaves, a little hard to believe even for a cub god. "I don't know. Maybe he didn't know, and maybe he did know but forgot to mention it. But, while you can't dwell on that at the present because for now, we should find a place to sleep." A little yawn escaped her muzzle as she giggled softly.
Crimson eyes scanned the area and in the distance appeared to be a small rock peeking out above the horizon. Hopefully they could get there before sun-down and that it wasn't a mirage like the other one. Because, for some reason her stomach was starting to feel a bit funny and she thought a good night sleep would be just the cure.
