What you can't do is come in and rant about other members of the guild or the RP and stir up drama. For instance, you can't come in and be like "Oz is such a creep because he left me out of that scene!!!! D=<" Or be like "I'm so sad that Tshila doesn't have a boyfriend. No one likes her and it's not fair! She's my favorite character! And the guy she likes doesn't ever notice her and it makes me really sad!!!!!"
You also cannot name drop people here on Gaia either--like, I can't be all "That Serendipity Coma is such a dork!! D=<" but I CAN say "I know this person who is a huge dork. D=<"
No in fighting, back biting or any of that. This is a place for casual ranting about life's little annoyances. It's not a place to pick a fight with someone in the guild and start flame wars. <3

Okay, I'm going first. You know what cheeses me off to no end? Character theft. I hate it! Whether it's people ripping off official game characters without giving credit (Look. We all KNOW who Noctis Lucius Caelum is so when you use that name, and that picture and give him the same personality, at least acknowledge you ganked it from the game so you don't look like you're trying to take credit for the character design) or people stealing the characters of people they know. I hate it.
Actually, to be honest, the last one annoys me even more. It's like, I expect complete strangers to not really have a lot of respect for my stuff. But if you're an acquaintance, you should know to keep your grubby hands off my characters.
And guess what? Changing a few details doesn't make the character yours, okay?? Giving them a new last name and maybe a few extra traits doesn't make it a new character. If a ton of the core character qualities--like the personality, some of the likes/dislikes and such--as well as the name and picture are the same.....it's still my freaking character.
I hate that people think it's totally okay to do this kind of thing. It's not. It makes you look like a schmuck. It's even worse if you know the person you're stealing from (oh yeah, and it IS stealing. It's called copyright infringement.)
I also hate when people use the defense of "You don't own that idea." Guess what? If I know you ganked the character and you know you ganked it and everyone else knows you ganked it. THAT IS All THAT COUNTS.

I just hate when people do this. I'm actually really, really laid back about copyright stuff and "art theft" and all that but this is one of those things that just sets my teeth on edge. The fact that people go behind the back of someone they know and pull this crap, then smile at them to their face drives me nuts. Every time it happens to me, I just wish I could reach through my screen and punch whoever is on the other end. Especially when it's one of my favorites. emotion_donotwant

Yes. I agree so much with you, Esh! When people do that, it's terrible! It just shows how unoriginal and lame they are. D8<
There are so many ideas out there and it's not just a coincidence that someone will have the same mental picture of a character and the same personality and even the same powers!
And I have no idea why these people think it's okay to just take other people's ideas and not give them credit for it. They shouldn't feel proud about the character since they did not do squat to come up with the character. Oh, yeah, they did read the whole thing and change things here and there. Totally a lot of hard work there. -serious sarcasm here-
But yeah. It's just very disrespectful and it makes me very, very, very disappointed in people who just take ideas without giving credit.

Not to kick a dead horse here. But I just have to agree and kinda add on how frustrating that is. I love to share my stories with others and part of that is putting characters that I have worked on for many a sleepless night and many a class when I should have been paying attention out there for others to see. If you're having a problem creating a charcter, why not just ASK someone for some creative input instead of stealing someone else's creation? Given the chance, how many friendly RPers do you think would love to help with that sort of creative process? I myself find that to be the kind of thing I'd love to help someone with, and it just seems like it would be so much more fulfilling to RP as a character you took the time and effort to bring to life instead of just stealing someone else's idea. And I get if you see a character and are all like: that's a really cool character! I want to have a character like that! But for the love of undiluted fruit cocktale mix, take the time to make your OWN original elf prince, or night elf mohawk. Don't just steal someone elses!
Ahem... I as well am extremely passionate about said topic. burning_eyes why can't people just have a little respect? ... I have other stuffs to rant about too. Lol.

D= It's like people don't understand how much work goes into these characters. I've had some of my characters for YEARS. I've spent so much time fine tuning them so on the rare occasion they do get ripped off by someone else else, it's completely frustrating. First of all, copies are almost never as good as the original--for the reason stated above. If someone, say, picked a character from this guild, copied her and put her in another guild. Most likely they'd make nonsensical changes, and essentially strip the character of what makes her cool. You'd end up with something that was an obvious copy, but no where near as funny or original as the, well, original. It's just painful to see that happen to a good character. >.< The one who created the original probably spent hours upon hours to make the character and the one doing the copying probably took ten minutes to turn it into a pile of regurgitated fail. emotion_donotwant Second of all, it's just.......lame. Standing on the shoulders of someone else's creativity and trying to claim it's yours is completely idiotic. If you like someone's characters that much, spend time to figure out what it is about them that makes them good characters, then work to improve yours. Don't just rip theirs off and think it's going to be remotely as epic. For the reasons stated above, the moment you start "tweaking" a good character, the moment it ceases to be a good character in most cases. I could blather on about this for a while. I just gotta say...I recently found out someone did this to a friend of mine and it's just painful to watch the copy character in action. ;____; Someone made a copy of Angela once and watching her hit on this sleazy old guy and make big, Mary Sue sparkle eyes at him just made me want to scream into a pillow. D=< LoL.

I normally don't rant and I'm usually the one forced to listen to others rant, but I have to add to this. Stealing characters, whether they're altered or just copypasted, is just wrong. It recently happened to a friend of mine, and I remember that she had this character way back when we were in elementary school. Yes, that long. Stealing a character that's been with someone for that long is like stealing their baby. And since this was my friend, it was like stealing my godchild or something. D=< That's just ******** up and stupid. Especially if they make stupid changes that take away what made the character interesting and throw in complete bull. Not only that, but when my friend's character was stolen, they stole things from her OTHER characters to add to some sections of the profile because they were too damn stupid to come up with something creative on their own. Even now, I am resisting the urge to follow them wherever they go and harass them relentlessly, because if there's one thing in this world that I can't tolerate, it's messing with my friends. If I knew the thief in real life, believe me, there would be blood, and lots of it.

Given, I understand that, since he's a character I made when I was four, he's not gonna be the most unique concept out there, and there ARE a few characters out there that are like him (all copyrighted after him though rolleyes ) and I can live with that. But straight up stealing a character that you have been developing for THAT long? As the earl of lemongrab would say: UNACCEPTABLE!! Anyways, then taking aspects of her other characters to a build some sort of messed up homunculus is just adding insult to injury. It makes me want to say aasdkfj;aignvoiaksfjas;owiehfna! But I can't pronounce that.

Yeah. I want to join this topic too. It's a bit late, but I also have a thing to say about this. I agree with everyone here and pretty much everything is said, but I want a share of ranting and trash talking about these idiotic people who can't come up with a decent character on their own.
I absolutely hate it when someone takes a character. With RPs, there are often written rules and unwritten rules and unwritten rules are just common sense. But apparently people who steal characters don't have that common sense and need it to be spelled out for them or maybe they're just those idiots who think it's okay just because it's not written in the rules and it's just ridiculous. But stealing characters is definitely not okay because in most cases, the one who did the stealing will never ever be able to play the character right and will only just f*** it up.
And tweaking a few things about a character and making changes--like everyone says--does not make the character their hard work. I don't know how people think copy paste and some small changes is work at all because it's not and it's annoying when people think it is because they get defensive saying that it was their hard work. Well, if that's hard work to them, then maybe they're just not cut out for RPing or any kind of writing because they can't come up with something with their own brain. And most of the time, if the offender knows what they've done, they just try to make small changes thinking they can get away with it because they don't have the guts or the decency to just apologize and get rid of the character.
Really, some people just need to man up and take responsibility for their actions and just stop and not do it again.

On the character theft, what these idiots fail to realise is that copyright infringement is very easy to claim - especially in America. When I studied to become an editor, we had to understand copyright law, so we could tell whether a novel would infringe on someone else's copyright or not.
What character thieves fail to realise - and plagiarists as well - is that when a piece of written work is down in a form that can be read by more than one person - so this includes forum posts, blogs, dA galleries, etc. - then the piece s covered by an automatic copyright that extends for either 70 years from creation or 70 years from the author's death, whichever is the longest.
So, for example, characters posted here are protected under copyright the moment they're posted. And you can take legal action, if you like, if copyright has been infringed by a thief/plagiarist.
Which is why I think these kinds of thieves are idiotic. Especially when they think changing a name and a text colour makes the character unique. It does not. The entire base and art of the character remains, including the original voice of the original author. So it's very easy to continue to prove the theft. Especially if you caught "screencaps" of the changes.
Silly little numpteys. Whatever happened to having your own thoughts, ideas and originality? That's what makes me the saddest. Surely you can't be that dumb that you can't create something from your own imagination? You kids these days and your brain rotting technology *tuts*

Ugh, totally agree about everything on this page. What's even worse is when people won't just fess up about it =/ I know people that will never just man up and admit that they did something wrong. I think that it'd be a bit easier to forgive someone if they would just fess up and apologize, but sadly that doesn't happen very often. It'd be nice to see if thieves actually had some initiative to do some right thing, but.... I guess a lot of them lack the ability to do so.

Dear GOD. aESFOHAIGNVAEWJKLNF JAWESDFBNIWA KSGNISDKFNLWER~!!!! I HATE GODMODDERS. You know what I hate worse than Godmodders? AN ENTIRE GROUP OF GODMODDERS WHO DON'T EVEN THINK THEY'RE GODMODDING. You know how most roleplay guilds, or forums, or any form of roleplaying in the universe has that same very well spoken rule: NO GODMODDING? This unnamed guild has that rule too, but the members of this guild obviously don't know what godmodding actually is. BECAUSE THEY ALL DO IT. ALL OF THEM, except for me. Here's an example yeah? My character (a very well designed, if not rather odd halfling teddy bear knight) is currently attempting to go on this quest with three other warriors to find and kill several dragons. Okay, okay, fine. I show up to find some super powered ice mage who is far older than he looks, an immortal fire mage who was apparently trained by merlin, and some, get this, immortal alien who has a shotgun that can shoot anything out of it, can conjure milkshakes out of thin air, and can break the fourth wall... like deadpool. YOU ARE NOT DEADPOOL. And when I say immortal, I don't mean they just can't age, I mean they literally can't be killed. Ever. The F#@King alien can supposedly resurrect like a phoenix. This is supposed to be a fantasy oriented RP mind you. since when were there shotguns in a fantasy RP? But I've already signed on, and I don't want to just quit the guild right in the middle of everything, so I'm sticking around, telling myself that I'll complete this one quest, and then I'll be done with them. I honestly don't think I can do it. We met the "mayor" of this town that was being attacked by dragons right? an NPC played by the quest's creator, and hey! IT'S ANOTHER GODMODDER. Apparently, the mayor could have killed all the dragons himself, but he called in the heroes because if he did, his bloodlust would rise up and he'd end up destroying everything. So he wants us to take care of things for him, and oh yeah, he also suddenly wants us to take care of this hydra that was drawn to the town by all the dragons that are suddenly there. Of course, my character, who is FAR weaker than any of the other characters there but is supposed to be rather clever, thinks to himself. THINKS, to himself, that the way to kill a hydra is to cauterize the neck stumps shut and bury the one immortal head. Of course as soon as he thinks this, all the other characters immediately seem to know it as well. This though, is the best part. The mayor says that as a reward for defeating the hydra he'll give us all our pick from a stash of "Templar" weaponry that his town has acquired due to defeating a large group of "templars" (600 to be exact.) With four... FOUR warriors. To which the alien immediately replies that he's won with worse odds.  So does anyone know of a real RP that will take a steampunk teddy bear knight?

Sure, as RPers, we all have moments when we will accidentally godmod or metagame every now and then, and I wouldn't mind if it was a once in a while accident, but having to deal with an entire group that does it all the time is just completely EVIL! It would be torture for me. I commend you for not even ragequitting after going through all that. Especially in fantasy RPs! It's so important to avoid godmodding at all costs so it'll be fun for everyone. That way it can be like a journey where you're not stuck with dealing with impossible odds that make you want to headdesk to oblivion. I don't even know how a group godmodders can have fun in an RP because godmodding makes things extra easy and there's no struggle at all. I think those people live in some kind of anarchist fantasy land where they could do anything or something. And reading through your description, I have to wonder about the common sense of the RPer of the mayor. I giggled at the idiotic back stories that person comes up with because four warriors beating up six hundred opponents just sounds like a load of bull. I'd like to see this person stuff six hundred people in his room. I'm sure he'll realize exactly how big of a number that is. =w=" And I'm afraid I don't know much about fantasy RPs on Gaia. ; w; Hopefully you can find a better one than the one you're in right now. *pat pats*

Its been two weeks Philippines is being raged by a storm Dx Earlier while travelling from home to school, I successfully reached the city despite of the terrible flood.. And while waiting for a taxi just to reach the destination safely when I ought to text a close friend of mine and found out classes are already postponed.. *inserts asdfghjkl!!!* there was a text brigade as early as 4am and I didn't received it!! So poor Mhai had to rush and being soak under the rain, soak and cold.. And nearly got stranded for the roads are not accessible for any mode of transportation! *mopes at the corner for badluck*
But goody! after my rants of self pity for myself.. I finally found a van heading back home.. Yay! I was save!! D8<

I kept on telling myself that I shall do my character profiles update and re evaluation from time to time.. But I always end up wanting to do it the next day... The next day.. The next day.. Nex----- Until I totally forgot! *facepalms*
Please don't let laziness syndrome catch me again D8 I want to finish everything up as soon as possible!
