The Weeping Forest:
- Roll a 100-sided dice each time you post. Match your dice roll to the results below as to what you find. Make sure to RP out the post. You can work with someone else as well, so each of you can obtain max 10/15 items (depending on your job class)
- You can only rp here with other Lost Clans members. This will still take place in the MAIN section of the guild where all the rp goes however!
- Occasionally you will hear ??? noises. It seems minipets are pretty common in the area! You can summon any minipets your horsemen has carried with them/found/etc etc (or even found in the forest, as it is abundant with minis) to help you around in this area/look for supplies/etc etc. Unlike students, Lost Clans members use minis as tiny workers, and will only summon them as necessary and less so of a vanity item.
- Once you are done, don't forget to claim points here.

- 1 - 10: Thick branches
- 11 - 20: Wispy leaves (easily flammable)
- 21 - 30: Large hollow tree (dead)
- 31 - 40: Tree bark
- 41 - 50: Sticky tree sap
- 51 - 60: Bones from dead minipets
- 61 - 70: Dry moss
- 71 - 80: Pine needles
- 81 - 90: Large slab of stone
- 91 - 100: Simple clay

He had never been the type to think of advancing past the job he had been raised to do.  Mmur was a soldier.  When he was asked to do so, he did soldiery things.  Singing, dancing, drawing—as much as he adored them, they were hobbies to be pursued when he didn't have his whip in hand, when he wasn't defending his people.  He had never pondered what it might be like to be a scavenger, yet here he was, digging through the woods near some Halloween school, looking for scrap in a vain attempt to rebuild what his clan had lost.

Mmur might have been directed to perform this task by someone he now considered a superior, alpacas notwithstanding, but in the absence of something to fight, Mmur was firmly off duty, and as he often did when he wasn't soldiering, the Famine clansman was humming a little tune as he worked.

This forest smells, teedle dee
Smells like Halloween, deedle tee

He didn't really have anything against this place or the creatures here. They had been kind enough to take the surviving members of the clans in after the Hunters had finished with their little massacre, but this place just wasn't home. How could it be? It was a forest. That was its first problem right there.

Up ahead, a couple of large branches jutted from a fallen tree. Mmur padded over to them and snapped them off at their bases, stuffing them into a net pouch at his side.

The last time he had come to the forest for scavenging it had been too crowded, too noisy, and very distracting. That, and he had to stop to help his war-sister try and locate her sister halfway through. It was a new day and a new chance to find more voice materials - and hopefully a quieter one as well.

Shik found his way back to where he had gone last and branched out from there, pushing past the trees until, curiously, he came across some slabs of stones. Hmm. Might've been where Yuzhi had found so many. Picking up one, the giant made to move on when he saw a pair of horns moving ahead of him. Now he knew there were other Horsemen searching the forest, but he couldn't help but think he might have found a new creature to wrestle and skin - how else would he begin to reclaim his trophies?

Of course, several seconds of stalking revealed it was indeed a horseman. Well. Hopefully that one didn't notice.

"Any luck?" Shikoba decided to try conversing. It was only the two of them, so he still felt comfortable enough t stick around. Plus they were supposed to be working together, much as he disliked the idea of depending on others.

"What? No. I mean, sure, if you like branches." Mmur looked up at the Horseman who had joined him. War. Hm. He probably did like branches after all. "You?" He pushed his helm up higher on his head so it no longer seemed to be blocking his eyes. He stared, tilting his head to one side. This guy was very large, bigger than he'd realized at first glance. Mmur wondered what giant War horsemen did on their island before it was destroyed. He wondered if this giant War horseman could shift into his mount yet, and if he could, how many smaller Famine horsemen could ride on his back. Just for reference. He wasn't going to ask. Not until they were better acquainted.

"So," Mmur said, retrieving a bit of loose bark from the same tree as his branches, "I'm Mmur." He said his name quickly but expectantly, more interested in the other horseman's response than in making sure he was understood.

Aaah, this one had to be from Famine. Shik could have also pegged him for death, but the sandy colors and lack of clothes told him otherwise. "Trees moreso, but branches are a start. If you can find seeds that would be even better." The very tree the Famine horseman was prying bark off had some dry moss he recalled from his last visit, and Shikoba approached to peel some off.

When the other introduced himself, though, he thought the guy had slurred and frowned a bit, pausing in his movements to frown down at the horseman. "Pardon?"

Pardon what?  Mmur moved off to one side as the other horseman came up next to him to gather his moss.  Oh!  His name!  "Mmur," he said a little slower, the first syllable stretched slightly as if he had just swallowed a spoonful of delicious soup.  "Of Famine.  Formerly."

He crouched, sifting through a pile of what looked like little more than refuse.  The young man stood again a moment later, poking at his new handful of tiny bones.  Animal bones.  If nothing else, he could use them for a project or two himself.  Mmur tucked the yellowed skeleton chunks into the wrapped fabric at his waist.  "You fight a lot?"  He was certain this horseman had hailed from War, but he didn't want to say so aloud, just in case.  "I do.  Did.  I gather bones now."  There hadn't been a lot of time for sparring recently with all of the mourning and meeting and alpaca chasing.

Mmur, what a curious name . . . Shikoba wondered if others had the same trouble he did catching it the first time, or if he was losing more than his battle skills since the Isles' destruction. "Shikoba Len, War," he said by way of introduction, snapping off a few branches from the tree while he was at it; they seemed supple enough, and if nothing else would provide tinder if it was the wrong sort of wood. "And I do. Spars and training take up my time between these quests and sleep." Battle was all he had been good for before - why stop?

Although he pondered taking a few extra pieces of the thick wood for himself. Perhaps he would pick up carving again . . . Not everything the giant did had to be destructive, executioner or not, and Shik had found music soothing to his otherwise blood-seeking soul. "If you care to, Mmur, we could engage after this search. I can't recall having fought someone from Famine in a long while."

Mmur nodded.  Not a surprise.  Out of all of the former islands, he had been sent to War the most often, but that had been long ago and he had never seen more than one or two male horsemen there.  Apparently they fought as well. Again, not a surprise.  But how well did they fight?  Mmur was very interested in finding out.

This Shikoba Len's devotion to his training was definitely admirable.  Mmur had been slacking at his own practice lately.  There were so many things to see in this new land, even if it smelled funny, and as much as he enjoyed it, fighting for improvement's sake had taken a backseat for the moment.  He might have hinted at disdain over being forced to gather sticks and stones, but it was far from the worst thing he could imagine doing.  It was better than being dead.

He seemed to consider the War horseman's proposal as moved toward another nearby tree, dragging his bag along the forest floor behind him.  He picked at a section of loose bark on its trunk and added it to his collection.  "Sounds fun," he agreed, turning back to Shik.  "Yes, I would like that."  His opponent was almost certainly stronger than Mmur himself, but there was a chance the Famine horseman was quicker.  It would be a learning experience no matter the outcome.

There was a rustle in the leaves off to his left, and Mmur shifted to face in its distraction, his head tilting again.  Back home he would have thought the shrub too small to be hiding anything worth talking to, but some of the students around here could shift down to the tiniest forms.  He loosened his grip on his bag, letting it fall to the ground as he took a step toward the sound.

Ah good, a sporting fellow! He might still be smarting some from his fight with the Imp, but perhaps a battle with someone of regular height would be easier on him. Giving the clansman a nod and a hint of a smile, the giant plodded forth to investigate a small fallen tree - dead before it could attain greater heights. No seeds in sight sadly, but . . . dead or not, the tree could be used for something, he was sure. "How goes the acclimation?" Shik prompted Mmur after taking a moment to dig and uproot the stunted plant, grunting as he hefted it slowly into his arms. "I know a forest is not what Famine would be host to."

There were also the numerous hazards within, but maybe not everyone had taken the time to experience them.

"It goes.  Somewhere."  The memorial he had attended soon after they had all arrived in Halloween had helped with the mourning, but his companion was correct in his assumption that the forest was not where Mmur was most comfortable. "And no, it's not.  It is interesting, I suppose.  I'm making the best of it.  Learning."

"Go!" Mmur said, pointing back into the trees.  "Find more!"  The foxfire dropped its prize and scampered off. Whether it would bring anything else back was a mystery.  "The animals here are very odd," was all he had to say on the matter.  He would take a swarm of desert insects over these bouncy balls of fur any day.

"Downright hostile is a better way to describe it," Shik answered with a hint of a grin. Ah, it brought back fond memories of his time taming animals back on the Isle of War. The creatures here were either too small or too stupid for the most part to bother taming. "Wander too close to the campus and you'll find alpacas running loose, being chased by mouthy hatchlings. This Halloween Town is a disgrace."

It certainly didn't help that they named the area the Lost Clan was sanctioned in a "reservation", like they were a soon to be extinct breed of exotic animal. While Shikoba would not deny that in battle he turned more instinctual, it was still an insult to him. He hefted his final object next to the slab of stone he had recovered and began arranging the smaller items inside the hollowed tree to make it easier for the haul back. This coupled with what he had found earlier would surely be enough on his part.

He took a moment to settle on several smooth boulders and watched as the Famine horseman commanded an animal to fetch him more. In all honesty Shik didn't like keeping creatures he couldn't kill around himself, but watching how a second pair of eyes could help made him consider getting a worker in the future.

The Famine clansman actually perked up slightly at the mention of alpacas, but when he heard the disdain in Shikoba's voice in response to their presence he sobered.  Still, he had been asked to herd the things for Medea.  If there were as many of them closer to the center of the campus as this horseman claimed, he would have to check it out, despite his slight reluctance to mingle.  "No, it is not home," Mmur agreed, his voice tinged with a bit of a sigh.  He was fairly sure that wasn't what Shik had meant by a disgrace, but perhaps Halloween could still become greater with their help. It was what the leaders of the Four Clans had planned to do initially—among other things—from what he understood. They would all just need to be extra convincing now.

Mmur watched as the War horseman gathered up what he had found, wondering if he should head back to their new home as well.  There were only so many of these branches he could carry.  Why he was placing more of them in his bag was kind of a mystery.

He remained still, trying to determine if he could hear the little FEAR creature returning, but the rustling and whispering of the leaves around them and the trickle of water deeper in the woods made that difficult.  He would have to practice here too, listening for the noises that made the forest what it was so he could more easily determine what didn't belong.

"We should head back."  For someone whose physical expertise revolved around speed and evasion, being relegated to a pack mule wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world. With a sudden nod, Mmur turned, dragging his supplies back to camp.
