Gacrux clung terribly to her sister Chhaya as if she was a shadow. These days, now that the pack was gone, it was terribly hard for the female to find many people to hide behind. Thankfully her sister had stayed by her side and been her support. Even if Chhaya was not always nice to her, it was still some one to be close to. Thats all Gacrux needed. The two girls had set out for a quest to find their real mother. Or , at least, thats how everything first started out. They had been told of the bright green female hyena from other packs members and how she'd come to rest with the pack for a little while. No one had been helpful other than that. Other then sharing information that at one point there was a mother. Not what she was like not anything. All other information was not available. Now the timid pink hyena found her self on her own for the moment. Nervously she sat at a rock and awaited her sisters return with something to eat. The slightest sound made her want to run for cover. Some how she managed to stay put and stay alert. It was very obvious to anyone watching that she was nervous about something though.

Merry merry king of tha' bush is he,
Laugh, kookaburra, laugh,
Joy mus' yer life beeeeeee...."
As he sang, he was running. Or at least, it seemed he might have been, was he not also bounding and gyrating and twisting as he ran. He bucked and spun and never quite managed to go in a straight line, though his zigzagging path was done at top speed. He laughed at the end of the verse, and sucked a deep breath as he came nearer her, clearly ready to continue his song.
"Kookaburra sittin in an ole gum treeeee...,"
And there he trailed off, stopping dead still nearly at her feet, staring up at her on her rock. For a moment he stood thus, slack-jawed and wide-eyed. "Well, aren't ye a beaut," he finally breathed in a sort of reverence. "Tis a vision from th' heavens!" He lifted a paw suddenly and bit it, eliciting a yelp from himself. "Nay, I'm not a'sleepin. Be ye real, lass?"

She'd heard the singing from a distance but hadn't moved from her spot. Instead Gacrux had lowered her self to the rock the closer the singing got until she was as flat as the rock allowed. There she stayed with her eyes closed until a voice made her yip and nearly fall off her perched rock. Timidly, the female looked over to find another hyena there. " R-real?" Gacrux's voice was some what choked up in the back of her throat from fear. This was a stranger after all. He was a hyena at the very least which made her not run for fear of her life but he was not of the pack and she was not with her sister who could do all the talking for her. Gacrux had no one to cling behind to. Instead it was all on her to be her own voice. "... " She slowly scooted off the rock and timidly flattened her self to the ground away from the rock. Gacrux was sure her sister Chhaya would heavily disapprove of her shy and some what rude behavior. But Gacrux was shy and very timid.

Dismayed to see her so terrified of him, his demeanor immediately switched from awed to apologetic. "Ah come now, lass," he called, softening his voice and lowering his body to the ground. Clearly he'd frightened her somehow, and he couldn't bear to think he'd caused such a beautiful hyena such distress. "I'm nae here to eat ye," he cooed softly, as to a skittish pup. "Nay be frightened of ole Kulay." He scooted around the rock on his belly, his chin buried deep in the grasses as he came around it.
"See? Kulay be naught but a big pup." He gave the shy hyeness a wink before sprawling on his side, gazing up at her sideways with both laughter and adoration. "I jes' canna help m'self. Th' likes of ye has got th' right to tell me nay, iffen ye wish." He rolled onto his back, legs drooping midair. Somehow, from that upside down position, he managed to look sorrowful. "Ye kin send me away, though me heart will grieve." He hoped his comic routine would ease her fears, or at least get her to talk to him. Her soft sweet voice, what little he'd heard, was most pleasant to listen to.

The female hugged the ground as close as she could. The closeness of the male almost made her submissively roll on her back and show her under belly in submission. But. This male was no threat, in fact, he'd even offered to remove him self. Slowly the bright pink hyena worked up her courage. ".. N-nooo." She lifted her head a little. The females voice was little and small all choked up in the very back of her throat. "No. You can stay I mean I dont.. Uh.." Oh gods where was Chhaya? She needed her sister to talk for her. The female squeezed her eyes shut and took a deep breath. "...Its. ITS okay I mean Im.. Uh.. you startled me is all," She lowered her head. The female was still hugging the ground pretty tightly.

"Forgive ole Kulay, eh?" He rolled back on his side, looking at her sideways and making no move to rise to his paws. "Ye kin give me ear a good bite, so Kulay will learn not to go about singin too loud and scarin the lovely ladies." He twisted his head so that one of his ears was closer to her, giving proof that he would indeed let her give him a good n** for his unsightly behavior.
"M'name is Kulay, an what is yer name, m'lovely lass?" He angled one bright eye at her in interested inquiry. At least he'd gotten her to speak to him, however stuttered or soft the words had been. "'M a wanderer, a rogue, but not a cad." He nodded his head, making his ears flap and scraping a groove in the ground with his face. He suddenly paused, eyes wide, ears canted... and then sneezed explosively, sending damp dirt as well a cloud of dust flying, his whole body convulsed with the sneeze.

The ear offering was strange to Gacrux. She stared at the stranger of a hyena's ear while he spoke. Part of her wanted to bite it just to see what would happen but the female controlled this impulse and instead listened as best she could. So this was a rogue hyena? The female wasn't sure what to think. Rogue in her mind usually meant something a little more frightening. This male did not fit that bill. "Gacrux," She gave a small nervous smile to the male. Before another word could be uttered the male had begun to sneeze. This sent Gacrux up on her pads and backing up. Her tail was clearly between her legs as she scooted further and further away. The female only stopped when she realized she was being a tad bit rude. This male seemed as if he was having trouble breathing. "..Are you dying?"

After his convulsive sneeze, he rolled up onto his belly. He took care not to rise to his paws and thus tower over her again. But his eyes were watering and his nose itched something awful. Maybe that roll in the dust hadn't been such a good idea after all. He longed to stand up and shake out his coat, but he didn't want to further startle her.
"Nay, nay," he said a bit nasally. "Jes' th' dust." He rubbed his nose with one paw, trying to clear the dust and dirt from it. He gave another, much smaller sneeze, clearing more of the offending particles from his nose. "Pard'n Kulay. Th' dust makes m'nose wish ta leap right offin' me face!" He smiled up at her with a bright expression, his sneezing clearly done with. "Kin ye imagine tha?" For emphasis, he wiggled his nose a bit, angling his ears comically at the same time while going cross-eyed as if watching for his nose's escape.

The female's ears were lowered. She was a little unsure what to thing about all this sneezing business. It seemed to her that he was going to kick the bucket at any moment. Granted, she'd never seen one of her kind kick the bucket before. All this sneezing just didn't seem all that healthy. "Are you sure?" She asked again," I mean that your not dying? " The female took a few steps closer to peer at the male. She was unsure what to do. Medical attention seemed what he really was in need of and Gacrux was no medic. This whole thing was troubling. " Maybe if we get you a drink of water.." Gacrux was coming out of her shell a lot more now that it seemed this male was dying.

"Oh nay," he chortled. "Kulay be nay dyin. May be a bit o th' fool, but nay dyin." He beamed at her brightly. She was such a sweet little thing, so obviously frightened of him, but caring about his well-being nonetheless! "Such a brave lass ye be! A drink tis a fine idea!" He had gone some time now without another sneeze, and his demeanor was chipper and healthy. He still kept himself low, so as not to frighten her, but clearly if the were going to go find water, he couldn't crawl on his belly.
"Now, ole Kulay is gonna stand up, nay be frighted." He rose to his paws slowly, being sure to angle his body so that he wasn't facing her directly. Hopefully she wouldn't be so scared of him as she had at first. Had he proven himself to be a friend yet to her? "Do ye know a good spot fer a drink, then, lovely lassie?" He tipped his head, letting his ears flop to one side appealingly.

Low and behold he was fine. This relieved Gacrux quite a bit but made her withdraw a little in her shell. Her ears lowered and her muzzle shut tight as she listened to all he had to say. Really, he seemed like he was alright to her. Still there was the fact that Gacrux had trouble with anxiety some times. Kulay got a very shy nod to assure him that she understood that she understood he was getting up. No words were spoken though. Her big doe eyes just kind of stared as she watched him timidly. Another nod was given to his question and this time words seeped from the females maw. "Y-yes this way .. if you'd be so kind as to follow..." She gave him a very small and very forced smile to seem all that more normal. This probably had the opposite effect of coming across as normal. It was painfully obvious that this female was just not comfortable in her own skin. Confidence seemed like a far off idea when words came to mind to describe Gacruxes demeanor.

It was rather hard to tell if his attempts to put her at ease were working or not. She was talking to him at least. Her stutter could be from fright or it could be something she simply could not help. Kulay was not the sort to judge. Speech patterns could be as impossible to change as a limp from an old injury. It simply was part of who one was, and was better accepted than fought against.
Her body language tended to make him think her speech pattern was due to an anxious nature, though. Her whole demeanor was submissive, wary, and skittish. Even as he followed her, he took care to stay where she could see him, and to not stare at her. Instead he trotted along and began to hum a merry tune. "Is this your pack's territory?" he asked after a moment, tipping he head to look briefly, flashing her a wide smile before looking away again.
