Quest Name: Coraline, you've got some explaining to do!
Quest Giver: Meridia, the Daedric Prince. Location(s): The quest will start off in Tamriel though quickly to The Colored Rooms which the characters will be sent to a maze somewhere underneath the Great Forest.
Information: It seems that Coraline's seemingly good natured affinity for necromancy has once and finally caught up with her. After practicing on her week on leave after her most recent quest, The Smuggler's Sanctum, she is caught by the Daedric Prince Meridia for tampering with one of her servants. The young Mer is ripped from her body and given the penalty of death unless she can escape the maze Meridia has set for her alive. The young girl is then cast back into her body which has been teleported to some remote spot within Nirn after Meridia has explained why she is doing this. Coraline must now serve out her penance within these chambers but at least she isn't alone! Unluckily, the one person who Merdia feels she can trust with her hatred of the undead to make sure Coraline doesn't cheat, Meridia sends the one person who hates necromancers with a passion worthy of her trust: Eliya. The older Mer must now has free reign to do whatever she pleases with the newly outed necromancer before her without consequence. Can she conceal her hatred towards what Coraline is in order to help the girl escape alive or will she be the executioner and allow her rage to fill her?
Expected Resistance: There shall be a multitude of Daedric minions and the souls of the people Coraline has risen to exact their revenge.
Goal(s): To escape the labyrinth alive.
Treasure Type & Amount: TBD
Specific Treasure Information: Sun Flare (Silver Dagger) (+5 Points of Fire Damage and +10 to undead: Eliya only)
Other: It takes Coraline what seems to be Three Years to escape the maze and her body ages accordingly, though Eliya's body seems as if it has never left for no more then a few hours.
This is a private quest meant to age Coraline.

She was contemplating on what to do. She could either spend it within her chambers studying, learning on the mysteries and stories on Sheogorath. Or she could go out, and do what has been banned. Sitting on a chair, she looked at a book and couldn't muster up the feeling of wanting to read. Usually after a mission she was given a week off for leave to rest and recover. But most of that time would be spent on reading through whatever subjects they had to put off for the quest they had just finished. She was lucky right now though since all of her classes were caught up she had the actual freedom of being able to choose what to do. Her arms were sore and legs ached from all the walking and thrashing her sword around. She rested in her chair and leaned her head on the wooden table in front of her, took her quill and started to scribble a picture on parchment.
She sighed and put the quill down after the initial ink had run out. The room was quite and light from the sun was still beaming through her window. She left her chair and walked down to her bed and laid down. Resting her head on her pillow and waited for the sun to go down so she could sneak out. But when she closed her eyes for a second but when she opened them, thinking she was blinking, the moon had replaced the sun. It was night out. She didn't feel rested or even the slightest tired though. She just felt bored and as if no more then a minute had gone by. Taking a quick sip of her water she slipped her boots on and got ready to leave the Halls. Looking around, she subtly walked outside onto the streets. A small breeze blew through the city and the large tree rustled as the leafs flickered around with the gust. Taking the initiative to leave, she walked out the city walls after saying her ''hellos'' to the city guard. She passed down the stables, leaving her horse behind. Walking seemed to work out the kinks in her legs. By the time she got to her new base, she had to move her things after getting caught by a band of local farmers, the cave was empty. She light up a simple alteration spell and a ball of light hovered above her palm. Not wanting to waste time, she had recently uncovered an old corpse buried within the dirt. The body was still decomposing. She changed out of her mage robes and into a simple gown that she stashed in a small crate.
She tied her hair back and started to get to work. Removing the internal organs to soak them in salt water and an embalmer fluid. By the time she was starting to remove the heart, she felt faint and light headed. lightning cracked outside and she could hear an echo of rain. Taking a moment to catch herself, she fell over onto the floor. When her eyes opened up she was in a different place. She couldn't tell exactly where she was but it felt more alive then any other place she had ever been. But she was scared. She felt like someone was watching her. Coraline started to walk around, but when she tried she was paralyzed. As her heart started to race a giant ball of light formed in front of her. The ball was huge, larger then anything she had seen. But it petrified her. It wasn't warm as she thought it should be, but freezing. The hairs on the back of her head stood up and she could see her breath.
''Coraline!'' the young Mer heard. It didn't seem to come from anywhere but from the ball itself. As if it were alive. And the voice sounded angry. It cracked light a ball of fire breaking on a wall. ''l have been watching you for some time and l'm very displeased with you!'' Coraline tried to speak up but when she opened her mouth no words came out. ''Don't even try to question me in my realm! You have no right to speak to me! You have tampered with magics that are both cruel and that goes against the nature of life!'' Her words started to make the small cogs in Coraline's head spin. She was able to put together where she was and who this ball of light was. ''Yes. l am Meridia. Stop wasting your time trying to speak. l can hear your thoughts.'' Coraline tried to reply via her own thoughts. Trying to ask what she had done to anger the Daedric Prince.
''That body l had laid to rest within that fort. He was a follower of mine. And you defiled him!'' she yelled at the girl. ''And for that l will put your life in the hands of someone who deserves the chance to exact her revenge on your worthless body!'' Thinking of who she could have wronged, she thought of old bodies she had raised. The families she could have harmed in doing so. ''No. It's none of them. But someone you know close and hold dear. If they decide to spare your life, then it will be up to you to climb your way out of my prison within your realm.'' More people came into her mind. People she cared about. She didn't think she could have risen any of their families or anyone they knew. She was careful in that respect. Or at least liked to think she was. Though who really knew. ''Have fun. Cursed one.''
Coraline reopened her eyes. She wasn't in the fort and was in her usual garb. She peered around the room she was in. A single torch hung on the wall. Her head hurt and she was feeling parched. There was another person in the room. Or at least she could feel the presence of someone else. A shadowy figure stood on the far end of the room, Coraline laid in the center. Trying to make out the details in the persons body, the first thing she noticed was a long head full of hair and a slim figure. Bedazzled with this, she thought of who she knew who fit that body frame. It quickly dawned on her as she started to lift herself up. On all fours she spoke to the person ''Eliya?''
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When the woman was resting, she had a dream. There was a field of flowers as far as the eye could see in front of her and behind her was a large forest. She was near a valley between a forest and a mountain range. She was Resting in the shadow of a tree between shrubbery and foliage. The sun was warm and peacefully illuminating the area while a small breeze filled with cold air made the area feel like she could rest here forever. Clouds were drifting in the air and a bird sang lightly in the background. She felt comfortable and relaxed. A bottle of wine and basket of food was next to her with a glass half full of the wine between her fingers. As she finished her glass a large ball of comforting light that didn't even blind her to look, formed in front of her. ''Hello, Eliya. l hope you are comfortable.'' the ball said in a calm and collected voice that wasn't even frightening at all but rather made the Mer feel at ease. ''l know you and your past. l've protected you over the years from the evils of the wretched undead and their masters.'' Even though the ball of light was speaking about things that would usually upset the woman, she didn't feel the slightest feeling of anxiety. ''l want you to get the revenge you deserve. Right now, on the world of Nirn, l have trapped one of these vile necromancers in my maze and l want you to be the one to bring them to justice. Don't worry, you'll be perfectly safe and wont be harmed by any creature l have lurking inside. But note, l cannot protect you from them. They are not one of my sentient beings.'' The words filled Eliya with a rallying cause to act and do something. As if whatever this ball said, she would do without hesitation and feel that she had no need to defy it's words. ''l trust you'll do the right thing.'' and after those words, the girl opened her eyes again but wasn't where she fell asleep. She was inside a stone room and a figure started to get up.

Eliya ~ She stood, eyes blinking as they adjusted to the dim lighting, a small gift offered by a lone torch that flickered shadows across the wall. Her gaze was on the small figure pulling itself to its feet. Despite the surrealism of it all, somehow Eliya knew that she wasn't in a dream. It could have been the cool air she felt against her skin, or the pounding of her heartbeat. It could have been the stabbing need for vengeance she now felt burning under her skin. She didn't know exactly who or what had brought her to this place, but what she needed to do was clear enoughl. Without any preamble the Altmer woman raised a single hand toward the figure that was getting up. She ignored the familiarity she felt as her name was called out. This person, this thing, was a creature of horrible dark magic. Necromancy was an abomination and by destroying this person she would be doing good. Doing the right thing, something she hadn't felt with such clarity in ages.
It had been over seven years since those monsters had killed her father, taken away the only person who loved her. The one person she loved. It had been little over one year since she had taken her revenge. Slaughtered them, stood over their dead and mutilated bodies, numb to the blood and carnage she had wrought. Necromancy was unnatural, it was depraved, a very violation to life itself. Now she had been given an opportunity to rid the world of one more monstrosity. She had the chance to cleanse Tamrial of one more hated and lawless soul. Too bad she didn't have a black soul gem; trapped inside its crystal walls would be true revenge. Stuck inside, unable to get out, waiting beyond time for a sweet release that would never come. But still. Death would just have to do for this evil necromancer. And she would ensure he got his due.
She didn't wait for the shadows to reveal the face of the one undeserving of life. Without warning, electricity shot from her hand towards the defenseless form as she called forth her magicka and released it in torrents of electricity. At the same time her other reached forward and pulled at the air. Sweat beaded on Eliya's forehead as she trembled under the exertion she was putting her magicka. Her willpower was strong enough to hold up to her demands however as her telekinisis spell successfully pulled fragments from the walls, floor and ceiling towards her target.

ooooooooɔɵɾɐℓɩɳэɱɩɾɩэʌʈɾɐэɳɐHealth : Bruised┃ Magicka : Tapped┃ Energy : Rested┃ Effects : Night-Eye (Constant), Invisibility (35 Seconds)┃ Wielding : Steel Short Sword┃ Equipped : Steel Short Sword, Steel Dagger and Robes of Destruction and Base Ring of Night Eye┃ lnventory : Parchment x 3, Ink Vial, Quill, Base Ring of Night Eye and Red Shard┃ Location : Labyrinth - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ♥♥♥ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - For a brief moment Coraline had the thought that this was a fabrication of her subconscious. A hallucination though the subtle smell of stale mold mixed with a cold air cooled her lungs, making it more real then any dream she had ever had. No, this was real and a penance was being enacted for her dabbling into necromancy. She never thought that her actions would ever catch up to her like this. She had nightmares of her body being mutilated on the stake in the past for being caught but never by a Daedric Prince and certainly never carried out from someone she held close and dear to her. She could only think for a brief second though. Almost instantly after she spoke a hand was raised to her. Her fight or flight instincts kicked it. Her heart raced and she felt oddly warm. Like something was wrong. Already on all for, she caught her balance and quickly rolled to dodge the first attack but wasn't counting for parts of the ceiling to fall on her.
A brick on concrete slammed on her back, cracking what she could only assume was a rib and bruising her shoulder. With adrenaline flooding her bloodstream she ignored the pain and aimed her own hand at the elf who attacked her. A clear bolt of magicka shot out of her fingers, attempting to make sure the girl can't speak up for herself or cast any more spells. After the bolt had left her fingertips, Coraline vanished. Her body disappeared from all sight. She used another Illusion spell of the same complex nature, Deathly Visage. Starting to count her time as she advanced towards Eliya knowing she only had thirty-five seconds before her spell wore off. She slipped on her ring, the only one she carried. Base Ring of Night-Eye gave her the ability to see perfectly in the dark. Instead of attacking with her advantage, she wanted to make sure she had the upper hand even more. Dashing towards the torch on the wall, she extinguished the flames, making the room pitch black, though since she planned for this, she could see see Eliya move around. She didn't know if the girl had any other sort of spell or enchanted jewelry that would enhance her own vision.
After the flame was doused, she took a deep breath and moved to the side of the room, putting herself in the corner behind Eliya, giving her a chance to regenerate some of her magicka. Twenty seconds left. Nineteen. Eighteen. She counted down and waited till she had fifteen seconds to spend. When her time was nearing the end, if Eliya hadn't cast a spell to detect where she was or if she did, she still had at least ten seconds to use before Eliya could cast anything. Hush was a seemingly and very useful spell when combating against another magic user. She drew her sword and started to circle the girl and speak, so that her words would echo through the room, not giving away her position. ''Eliya, please stop this. You know who l am. lt's Coraline. We're friends. We don't have to do this. l don't want to have to hurt you.'' her last sentence trailed through the room and her voice sounded as if she were hurt and the act of harming Eliya would haunt her for the rest of her life. If she were going to be able to have a longer life then the next few minutes. If Eliya didn't take her warning and attacked instead, Coraline has a Conjuration spell readied to be cast just in case. In the case of Eliya attacking, she would summon a Daedra to come forth and protect her, making sure it wouldn't kill Eliya, just stopping her from being able to kill herself. The spell would be cast the second Eliya came towards her so by the time she reached the girl a Dremora would block her attack.

Eliya ~ The mage assassin was disappointed when the lightning from her hand was absorbed harmlessly into the stone floor. Fortunately her other spell managed to catch the necromancer. This victory, however, was short lived and she prepared to unleash another spell only to realize she'd been silenced. The briefest feeling of panic threatened to surface but she pushed it away and instead drew her short sword. The sensation of being silenced was one she'd only felt a few times and this time was as sinister as the last. There was something about being cut off from your magic, being unable to call it forth, that felt to Eliya akin to what many might feel when experiencing an anxiety attack. She ignored the heavy weight on her chest, forced herself to breath long deep breaths. She wasn't defenseless, she had her sword and multiple throwing knives, her daggers, a few poisons. She had been chosen by a god to carry out her mission. Never before should she feel so confident.
Short sword in hand, the redheaded woman crouched but before she realized it, her nemesis had disappeared completely from sight under the shimmer of a spell. Eliya shouldn't have been surprised by this turn of events, and she wasn't. Invisibility was a common enough spell for Necromancer's. Having lived with them for a year she knew that well enough. As soon as she couldn't see the other person anymore, the itch to hide as well was one that the assassin fought. If she used invisibility herself it would mostly deplete her magicka for a few minutes and in that moment she might be vulnerable. But at the same time she now had no advantage, and the other person might swoop in for an attack. Barely breathing Eliya listened carefully for footsteps to best indicate the invisible person's location. Too late she heard the quick foot steps and spun, but the hidden necromancer hadn't struck for an attack, rather they had taken the opportunity to snuff the torch and turn the room dark. Strategy perhaps but two could play that game. She had to assume the necromancer could see in the dark by some means, luckily Eliya herself was not so defenseless.
No longer silenced [because 'hush' only lasts ten seconds] and knowing that her enemy had to lose his invisibility to snuffing the torch, Eliya knew that once she slipped on her ring of night eye they would once more be matched, and likely both's magicka would be nearly replenished. In the silence after the torch went out, Eliya did not move, she listened instead to the light almost unnoticeable steps of the other person in the room. The mage assassin's training in sneak allowed her to hear what many others, even those of her own race could not hear. In this instance she heard the movement stop somewhere behind her, a few feet away. Still facing the direction of the now unlit torch, Eliya carefully and without much of the slightest movement reached into her cloak and pulled out a special ring. Once it slipped on to her finger it joined many of its brothers and sisters, but more so it turned Eliya's vision from black to a world of blue hues. Her expectancy was that since the necromancer was behind he could not see her actions, and would expect to still have the upper hand. Still she did not move, as her eyes adjusted.
She heard then, the ring of steel as a weapon was unsheathed, and once again a familiar voice. 'Eliya, please stop this. You know who l am. lt's Coraline. We're friends. We don't have to do this. l don't want to have to hurt you.' What trick was this? Coraline? It couldn't be so. Eliya refused to give up the ruse that she still couldn't see in the dark, keeping her crouched stance, shortsword in hand, defensive. But what if it was true? What if it really was the female Altmer, Coraline, her fellow mage and dark sister? Sithis forbade the killing of another sibling. But where was she anyways? Would he know, would he find out? But what was higher, the order of Sithis or a god? Pieces were coming back to her now, and Eliya knew without doubt it was the daedric god Meridia that had brought her here to take vengeance. As she thought about this, it was as if the thought itself became alive, burning through her. Once again she felt the white hot need to tear apart the necromancer. It didn't matter whom it was, what matter was what it was. It was evil, thus even if it was Coraline, then she was evil. She had to die.
The figure was beginning to circle Eliya, still talking. She wasn't listening, she was planning her exact moment of attack. Still pretending she couldn't see, she waited until the figure began to appear at the edge of her peripheral vision as she stared straight ahead, eyes unfocused like she couldn't see. If this was Coraline, she'd expect a melee attack at this point. Instead of doing just that, Eliya turned the tables and without so much as a flinch whispered the spell, hush. She counted on the other woman being distracted by her own words, distracted by the lack of movement on Eliya's part, distracted by the thought that she couldn't see, so that it was too late for her to release a spell of her own before she was silenced.
Eliya in general moved very quickly, amplified by the ring of speed she'd found on a mission earlier in the year, it made for lightning fast reflexes. Even as her lips finished the spell of hush, she spun around and stepped backwards to face the other Altmer, shortsword in one hand, held in front. She had ten seconds to cut down the girl. She was an expert in swordplay and though she knew the other girl could hold her own, she also knew that she, Eliya Lok'tah was better then the necromancer known as Coraline. The other woman relied a little too much on her magicka. And now she no longer had the upper hand. "You should have killed me when you had the chance." She stepped forward. "You disgust me. What you do is an abomination... and your kind killed my father." Her other hand, empty, reached down to pull out a silver dagger. "I'm going to cut off your head," she said this grimly, in all seriousness. "But first i'll cut off your hands, your tools of destruction." She advanced another step closer. She only had a few seconds left before the woman could use her magicka again.
In her mind's eye, she committed herself to the attack that would cut down the elven girl. Girl. She wasn't a girl, she was necromancer. But she was still Coraline. Mage sister, dark sister. A girl of only sixteen years. Someone Eliya was actually fond of... in an inexplicable surge of feeling and memory, the elven assassin hesitated. She had no answer as to why, but abruptly and without warning, the burning need for vengeance faded. Suddenly all that was left was her staring into the eyes of the other Altmer. She lowered her weapons. "Fine, talk. Explain." It was an order, but there was no trace of the previous malice that had lined her words. She wanted to know why this girl was associated with Necromancy, why she should help her.

It was only meant to stop Eliya from attempting another spell, exploiting their magic affinity, at herself in order to safely douse the fire. The room was dark, and eerily cold. A damp musk of old ruins filled her lungs pungently every breath she slowly inhaled. Her chest expanded with every breath and she savored them as if each one of them was quickly leading to her last one. She had seen Eliya in combat and she was a terrifying mage skilling in a multitude of magic schools as well as being an expert at swordplay. Coraline was lucky that she wasn't using her advantage. She left herself open to attack from the girl she was circling. Coraline didn't want to hurt her, they were friends, and sisters of the Dark Brotherhood. One of the tenants strictly forbid them from doing what they were forced in this room to do. Though she doubts that The Night Mother or Sithis could see their actions here. Daedric Princes had a way of cloaking their own activities. That was if they were still on Nirn. But Coraline some how doubted that they were on some foreign plane.
Her two spells greatly depleted her mana pool and she felt tired. She was hoping that Eliya would, if at all, attack later then sooner. At her current moment if she were to cast another spell that required more magicka she doubt she would have the ability to do it right this moment. She would want to summon a Daedra to keep Eliya occupied while she took the time to plan an attack that would end this quickly without killing either of them. She would have to cast something minor, a Dremora would be out of the question and perhaps something less strenuous would be better. Knowing that her secret is out of the bag, summoning a Ghost wouldn't really hurt too much, aside from probably only enraging Eliya even more. No, a Scamp would have to do. Though it wasn't as deadly a she would have liked, it still would have but the fight in her favor. Two to one is better then one to one. Having some time to regenerate her magicka, she felt more confident in the ability to cast the spell she wanted. A lot of things were going through her head, mostly of what Eliya was thinking and how she would handle this news if she let her live. And, Coraline did want to live.
Both terrified of what could come of this and slightly glad that she didn't have to hide her secret anymore, the repercussions of what would transpire here would forever change the two girls' friendship. If Eliya chose to turn the girl in, she would at least hope to be given a head start to run. The college would forbid her to return and hunt her down like they did with the other necromancers. It's a shame it's a forbidden art, it is quite lovely. Bringing life back to the dead, giving them a second chance at life. Though being commanded and having no free will isn't much of a life if one at all. She never really had the time to sit down with a raised ghoul and have an somewhat intelligent conversation. She was either interrupted or just didn't have time to fully prepare the spell. And the spell was time consuming. It wasn't like ripping a daedra from Oblivion into this realm. It was like trying to fill a cup with water and the only source of water was miles away. It was a challenging task to do but she enjoyed it. So she would have to use a scamp though. She didn't know exactly how Eliya would react to her summoning a ghost.
While circling, Coraline held her short sword out in a defensive manner. Her left hand was up, as if ready to quickly parry and riposte an attack if needed. She didn't want to be in this situation but she was going to make sure she made it out alive. But luckily by the Eliya started to act, after the she had reached into her pocket and slipped on what could only presumably be a ring to enhance her vision, Coraline had enough magicka to summon a Dremora. Though when the red headed girl started to run towards Coraline, she started to cast her spell. But when she tried, nothing had happened. She tried to curse out loud but no words came from her throat. Is was like all the voices inside her body were pulled out of her. Coraline gripped her hilt tightly, ready to strike down the woman. "You should have killed me when you had the chance." she said as she closed the distance with haste. "You disgust me. What you do is an abomination... and your kind killed my father." Just a few seconds more till she could cast her spell but it wouldn't be in time, Eliya was moving too fast. "I'm going to cut off your head," These words gave Coraline goosebumps, she would swear in the future she saw a glimpse of her teeth through a smile. "But first i'll cut off your hands, your tools of destruction."
Coraline leaped backwards, holding her sword straight out and turned her body sideways, her left hand now held the dagger that was always in it's scabbard. Usually only for decoration, it seemed that this blade was seeing more action then it was meant for. She was ready to retaliate, her heart raced and her vision tunneled on to Eliya, the rest of the room seemed to not matter. Every breath she took seemed to slow time down. The light blue hues radiated off Eliya's skin and the open area's around her seemed to darken. Coraline focused on her and watched the girls violently red hair ribbon in the air. Through her pale blue eyes she noticed an opening, it was a small chance it would work but it was the only one she could see as in this moment. She couldn't cast spells as of right now but it was only going to be a few more moments before she could. Right before she was about to take her attack, Eliya stopped.
Her advance completely halted. She didn't budge any further, and by the time she spoke to the girl, Coraline was able to respond. Her voice returned back to her. Eliya demanded her to explain herself. Though Coraline felt a sudden urge to attack. She wanted to strike this woman down. ''You dare attack me!'' she thought. Her rage was building up and all she could think of was how to best go about this. Eliya threatened to remove her hands then head, so Coraline was thinking of taking her feet just below the ankle. Then hands so she couldn't do anything to attack back and finally her head after watching her squirm in agony. She would wait and listen for her wails begging for Coraline to end her suffering. And only after Eliya apologized and when she saw fit that she suffered enough, she would finally kill her. She wanted to bite her lip and just jump in. Though that was untactful. She would have to think of how to do this. Though if Coraline didn't respond soon, Eliya might grow impatient and continue her assault.
She cursed herself for not taking the advantage as Eliya did. Eliya didn't mind attacking Coraline as Coraline did mind harming Eliya. She thought for a brief on what to say to try to calm the lady down. Not letting her guard down, she spoke up. ''l'm truly sorry for what had happened to your family in the past, but know that somewhere down the line of things you too must have killed someone's father.'' she took a quick breath ''You can't tell me you're innocent in killing a man. How do you know he wasn't a father? Do you justify it by saying 'it was either him or me'?'' she didn't really know where she was going with this. At this point she was just rambling hoping that Eliya would either grow bored and forget why she was here, or just simply be overwhelmed with words to the point where she only agreed. ''And besides, we're Dark Sisters. You can't tell me you never killed anyone for money. What were your justifications for those deaths? 'They probably deserved it anyways.'?'' Still standing with her guard up she spoke again, hopefully to conclude her point. ''So l practice the dark arts, l use my moxie for magic to create life from a decomposing corpse. Are we not friends and don't you see me as a kind person? You just said l should have killed you when l had the chance. l could have, but didn't. l mean you no harm, Eliya. Though l will defend myself if l have to.''
Her jaw hurt. She seems to have been talking too much. Though at this point she couldn't show any weakness that could be exploited. She tried to stand strong in her convictions. Coraline didn't see herself as a bad person. And most ''evil'' people say ''bad is a point of view.'' but that's just them saying those things to justify their actions. She only killed practicing out of self preservation. Eliya shouldn't know that though. The less she knows about her practice the better. She would have to keep Eliya in the dark for most things not only to protect herself but also to veil the evil acts Coraline has done. Now she could only wait and see what Eliya with what she had just said. Eliya would have to do what she thought was best for her own mentality. As Coraline would do the same. The two girls were almost polar opposites, but it fit how well they worked together. Coraline looked up to Eliya even though they were the same ranked members of the Mage's Guild. And even at times Coraline found herself attracted to Eliya. But knew better to act on those impulses. There would be no way Eliya would feel the same or even consider being somethings else.

Eliya ~ There was for the briefest of moments, so minuscule she might have imagined it, that Eliya questioned whether Coraline would even speak. Perhaps she would attack instead, it would after all, make things so much simpler. If the other elven assassin had committed to fighting rather then discoursing there likely wouldn't have been any faltering thoughts keeping Eliya from doing her job. Doing her job. This wasn't her job. She wasn't getting paid, she hadn't been ordered by any guild superiors to do this. But she had been ordered by a Daedric god. And since when do I worship the gods of daedra? She didn't. It was as as simple as that. She held no allegiance, no affection for their kind. Though Eliya was not a saint, she did pray to the Nine Divines. Perhaps because it was the way she'd been raised, or perhaps because some tiny part of her needed confirmation that deep down she wasn't all bad. The prayers and charitable donations she gave out, they helped to counteract the darkness released from her hands. She killed for money, but that didn't make her evil. I'm not an evil person.... She hadn't realized that her gaze has become unfocused. Blinking, she stared at the other Altmer as she spoke, her own face impassive as she listened.
''l'm truly sorry for what had happened to your family in the past, but know that somewhere down the line of things you too must have killed someone's father. 'You can't tell me you're innocent in killing a man. How do you know he wasn't a father? Do you justify it by saying 'it was either him or me'?''
Though the mage assassin dared not look away from her comrade, she was silent for a few seconds, as she thought about the truth of of the younger woman's words. When Eliya finally spoke, her voice was quiet, lacking any of its previous heat. "I do not deny that I have killed innocent people, GOOD people. I have no doubt that when I die I will join thieves and murderers in a place of eternal torment." I will likely see you there... "But this is not about me. My father, he was a good man, an innocent man. He devoted his life to bettering the lives of mages like us. He did not deserve what happend to him, and no one will tell me otherwise. He was good, and evil destroyed him. How is that fair?" There was a brief silence before she spoke again. "I vowed to avenge him and forever take revenge on those who killed him. Necromancers killed him, so where does that leave us "? Again Eliya paused, her hands on her weapons tightening. "Where does that leave us?" Her words echoed, almost sadly. "I'll tell you. It leaves us on two opposites sides."
Her voice became stronger and was solid again as she spoke. "Yes, we are Dark Sisters." She peered across at the other girl. "Though I wonder if Sithis sees all that happens in this place. I could probably kill you here and now, and no one would ever know. No one would ever find your body." Her voice had a musing tone to it, as if she were thinking things through as she spoke aloud. "I had thought we were friends." She inhaled and exhaled. Her words sounded dead, as of there were no life to them. This was why she didn't allow herself to become close to anyone, to care about anyone. At some some point, those closest would betray the trust given to them. Those closest could cause the most pain. The only person she had ever truly trusted and loved had been taken from her. The only thing she had left, keeping her going, was vengeance. Without vengeance, she had nothing left. Rage called out to her, the need for retribution, justice, but she pushed these overbearing emotions away, instead settling on the safest one, the one she could trust. Apathy. She stared unflinchingly into Coraline's gaze. "Evidently that is far from accurate.Your lie, your, your interests have made it clear to me that we can never be friends. Never again."
The words, even as they left Eliya's delicate mouth, sounded so finale, the harshness of them evenly matching the tone. "But I'm not going to kill you. One day someone else will have that pleasure. It won't be me." With that, Eliya let both of her hands hang down at her sides. She didn't take orders from the Daedric gods. Despite her unquenchable thirst for taking vengeance out on those who murdered her father, she would not break one of the tenants of Sithis. She wouldn't. She was loyal until her dying breath.

Her mental capacity to withstand these feelings overwhelmed her growing tired mind. She was sick of the feelings at this point and this was only the beginning of this adventure. Twisting her sword arm so her palm was now facing up, she waited to her out Eliya out, still in a defensive manner. The dagger was in her hand still but hidden behind her back, ready to use it to riposte if needed. She wasn't entirely sure whether not Eliya was trying to use this coy in order to lower Coraline's defenses. The younger girl wasn't going to fall for such a ploy and was ready to feign interest in a conversation if need be. She was waiting in the cold and hazy blue. Waiting for Eliya to make the first move. Her patients was starting to show, her body stood still and her breathing calmed. She sucked in the cold air through her nostrils and exhaled out of her partially pursed open lips. She waited for the sword fall.
It seemed it would take forever for Eliya to actually sheath her sword. But when she spoke it seemed to be more of a retaliation of madness. Listening intently, it seemed Eliya was speaking not from reason but rather animosity. She wasn't thinking with logic and not letting her mind deduce the thesis at hand. Coraline wanted to draw a picture to point out why exactly Eliya was being ignorant to the situation. Frustrated with the situation, she inhaled deeply and sighed to herself. Quietly she watched Eliya's lips move and words spew out with anger. If these words were weapons why weren't they hurting Coraline? She could see small imaginary cuts engrave themselves on her forearms but there was no actual wound and nothing actually hurt her. She was just fed up with how Eliya was blaming Coraline, probably someone who wasn't even practicing magic at the time of her life, when her father was killed. She had no reason to be put to fault for this. lt's just madness. Eliya would fit in Sheogorath's realm.
Two opposite sides did seem right. The two ladies were facing each other, ready and willing to end the other's life in at a seconds notice. There would be no remorse for defending themselves till they realized whom they had just killed. But surely Eliya would feel solace in the coming seasons for ending a little girl's life? If Coraline was the victor she would indeed feel pity for the act she had just committed. Never in her life would she had thought that she would have to be the one to kill a dear friend in a fight she did not pick. She cursed at the Daedric Prince she had stuck her in this situation and whatever other being had imbued these magical abilities within her body. They were a blessing but right now she only saw them as a curse. A curse that had no cure. No antidote to mend it. Only time to deal with what she had to do at this moment. But it seemed as if time were sand in her hands. She could clench down on it as hard as she could but only would be able to grasp a few flecks. Time was never on her side.
The phrase ''we can never be friends.'' is what really impacted her. She didn't mind being badgered like a child who has broken a small porcelain vase. A small phrase that actually was a blade that dug itself deep into her flesh. Taken back at this, she let her emotions get the better of her for a flash. It was only a quick second that she actually showed her vulnerability. She was only a mer.
Her eyes quickly watered and stung. Her eye brows lowered and her mouth gaped ever so slightly before she caught her own image of herself in her mind and quickly fixed her posture. She had to be stronger then this. She had to be the bad person. Take the blows and just roll with the punches. lt was going to be a hard task but she was going to be able to do it if she didn't let her emotions show again. Evil people don't have emotional weaknesses. So she couldn't have any either. Her heart faltered. She just wanted the warmth of love. But the only warmth is a warmth alone. From now on, if Coraline made it out of here alive, she would be seen as filth in Eliya's eyes. Coraline could already feel the contempt from those glares and be reminded of what sewage she was. Unworthy to practice in the universities and someone who should just be forgotten. It's just that she is tired of the feeling of here. lt's too near death. It's not the weather of the cities or the market moans. Every reason to leave this place behind, which is why she should just be left alone, are made of flesh and bone. She was thinking of exile. Just walking north towards Skyrim a brand new life and waving goodbye to the world at the back.
Speechless, she just watched Eliya put her arms down to her sides. She could take the initiative and kill her and but an end to her anguish. Though only more tears, unstoppable tears would rain from her cheeks. Never being a friend is a long time, and being young mer, they live a even enhanced tempus. She put on a cool and calmed facade on to speak. ''l doubt a Deadric Prince will be the end of me. If you want we can just part ways here. l don't think this maze was meant for you. l'll find my own way like l always have.'' but what she really wanted to say was an apology and let Eliya know that she was sorry. But she doubts she would ever accept one from Coraline now. Such disdain...

Eliya ~ In the utter vividness of unearthly blue hues, Eliya could see Coraline's face perfectly well. Though she did not derive any satisfaction from her final words, she knew they had to have cut deeply. She knew this because deep down, under the layer of apathy she now covered herself in, it had hurt her to say it. Never was a long time, especially for those like Coraline and herself. But she had no choice. She also knew it hurt because as the other woman's jaw dropped in shock, and because their eyes were locked on one another, Eliya did not miss the flash of pain that crossed the other's eyes. As quickly as it appeared however, it was gone. When Coraline finally spoke, her voice was strong and clear, but Eliya thought she could detect the slightest trace of sadness. Perhaps she was imagining it.
''l doubt a Deadric Prince will be the end of me. If you want we can just part ways here. l don't think this maze was meant for you. l'll find my own way like l always have.''
Eliya's thumb smoothed over the hilt of the silver dagger in her left hand as she thought about her options. There were a few moments of silence as she took her time responding. When she spoke, her voice was typical Eliya, authoritive and straight forward, though it no longer held a familiar warmth. "I am still your Dark Sister." She let the words float for a moment, letting Coraline feel them, consider them. She didn't need to explain to the other mer her loyalty to the Brotherhood, Coraline knew well enough. Coraline should also know that Eliya's loyalty as a dark sister transcended personal feelings. Though in the Mage's Guild they were in equal standing, when it came to the Dark Brotherhood, Eliya was still her superior. In that, the redheaded assassin felt a certain responsibility. So many contradicting emotions. She'd sort them all out later. For now she had relinquished her anger and was holding tightly to apathy, clinging to it as if it were the only thing keeping her desperately afloat amidst a raging storm."We will find a way out of here together."Her tone made it clear the point wasn't up for further discussion.

As if the walls were sliding across the floor away from the two. Her sense of space seemed to be out of loop and she wasn't able to properly comprehend how this space she was confined in was even here at all. It was like her body was shrinking, if that were possible without an incantation or alchemical result. Though as small as she felt right now her chest bolstered and her heart started to race. She was ready for the fight but it decided to just not happen. But now that it was over she was glad it didn't take place. Such a shame though. They would never know who was the better fighter. Coraline of course had all her gold bet on herself. There was always the Arena to test this out. But there wouldn't be a way they'd allow a little girl to just walk in no matter what her ranking might be with The Mages Guild. She wont be trying to provoke Eliya anytime soon, though she is anticipating another brawl with the older lady. She thinks it would be fun. Letting her guard down, she let the tip of her blade tap the cold stone floor.
Ready to move on to the next corridor, she nodded. ''True, you are still my sister. But you could easily just turn your gaze and lie about seeing me. No one would know the better.'' It still felt nice to know that Eliya some how felt responsible for Coraline. But she didn't know how long her feelings of protection would last or if they were real at all. Right now, the only thing Coraline really knew was that Eliya is still willing to kill her but wont for some personal code she held. Perhaps feelings for The Brotherhood laid deeper then her own personal vendettas. Now, almost completely defenseless she waited for Eliya to show her the way out. As if she were a guide who knew where to go and where to avoid. But after a brief moment, it seemed that she didn't know any more then Coraline. It didn't dawn on her that Eliya was stuck here too. She thought for the moment that she was an executioner that a Daedric Prince had chosen to carry out their dirty work. But it seems it was not as so.
Coraline kept her ring on and started down the hallway, taking the lead but regretting it as soon as she had her back to Eliya. She tried to listen in to hear any sound of the air being cut by a blade or a hastening of footsteps. Cautiously, she walked ahead, waiting for Eliya to take the opportunity to just strike her down. Coraline obviously didn't want to die but she also didn't just want to kill one who she felt was one of her best friends. It didn't seem right and it wouldn't settle well with her. It would be one of those moments where she would have to think quickly about her actions but probably wouldn't have the time to act rationally without being cut down herself. Her actions would be based off instinct and the most overbearing one she has is the instinct to self preservation and to live. She has never really wanted to have any kin of her own, but she is young and doesn't really know what she wants, so the instinct to continue her lineage was far down on the list.
As soon as she reached the first turn, she had two directions to go: Left or right. She had always been more fond of turning left, so, she looked down both hallways and saw no distinctive light coming from either end. Making up her mind, she used her sword to point in the direction they were going to go. ''Lets go left.'' With her mind made up she started off going in that direction. The hallway was dark, and even more cold. The hairs on her arms and on the back of her neck stood up. She could see her breath when she exhaled. All the torches on the wall seemed to have been extinguished long ago. Coals remained where the cloth linens usually rested and a charred post and soot covered the walls behind them. Moss lined the walls and the floor was cracked in places. There was an uneasy calm and silence to these halls and she felt like the two weren't alone. A Daedric Prince wouldn't throw all of her cards into one pile. She'd be smart, and devious. Setting out a multitude of traps for the girl to fall into. No way that it could just finding your way out of a dungeon and escaping a friend.

Eliya ~ Eliya said nothing in response to Coraline's words. There was truth to them, but she did not see the need to affirm her former friend's suspicions. The terrible truth of the matter was, she likely could cut down the other mer and the Dark Brotherhood would never be any the wiser. So what was stopping her? It was her loyalty, regardless of how distorted it might be. She wondered, for a moment, if Coraline planned on taking her out. She wouldn't put it past the younger woman, she could be quite clever. If their roles were reversed, Eliya would have likely give serious thought to taking herself out. Strike first, or die. Life was often like that, and in the back of her mind, the redheaded Altmer found that singular thought rotating over and over as if on a spit. If she were Coraline, she would eliminate the threat. Because she, Eliya, was a threat, and she knew the other elf had to know it.
Because of this, Eliya was mildly surprised when Coraline took off down the hallway leaving her unprotected back to her former comrade's mercy. It took little imagination on the redheaded assassin's part, to visualize a silver dagger flying through the air and thudding between the shoulders of the woman in front of her. The Necromancer, in front of her. Anger once again bubbled forth, demanding attention, demanding satisfaction. Eliya's hands tightened on her weapons, but she forced them to stay at her sides. Internally she groaned as she choked the anger back below the surface, gathering apathy around herself in sheets upon sheets. This was going to be a long day. Or night. Whatever it was. In the dark of the aging building they were in, it was impossible to tell if it was morning or evening.
They walked in silence, the only sounds that of their quiet footsteps. Eliya wondered what was going through Coraline's mind. Did she regret taking the lead? Did she have any idea where they were going, or how to escape this place? The Daedric god that had brought them there was likely not pleased with the recent turn of events, so Eliya had no expectancy that she would receive any help in escaping this place unless it was from Coraline. Like it or not, their odds of escaping this place was better with them both alive. Though once the way out was clear, the temptation to kill one another could yet again surface.....
They came to a brief halt when their hallway split into two corridors. Neither seemed better then the other. Eliya thought about suggesting they go right, but kept her mouth closed when she realized the words might be a cause for her to take the lead. Unlike many other instances, this was one situation in which she did not want to be in front. Coraline didn't seem too particularly interested in killing her, but who knew if the younger mage simply thought Eliya was putting on a farce. She might yet plan to turn on her old friend. They went left. As they walked, the mage assassin noticed the air seemed to be getting colder. She could see both her and Coraline's breath. There were torches that lined the walls, but they seemed to have been put out a very long time ago. Though Eliya couldn't put her finger on it, something unseen caused her to tense. It was as if she were waiting for something and she didn't know what. Something bad. The silence, something she normally took pleasure in, seemed out of place. It was as if something were missing.
Suddenly, Eliya's delicate elven ears heard the slightest click. One of them had stepped on a pressure plate! There was no time to waste. A micro-second after the click, countless blades swung down from hidden recesses of the ceiling and threatened to slice the two women into pieces.

After their initial left that they took, she dreaded putting out that torch and leaving it behind. She was grateful for having this ring but actual light is hard to beat. Sure being able to sneak around is fine, though she isn't very good at it, so a real light source is hard to beat. But then she remembered her little red shard she had acquired with Eliya not too long ago. It was small, warm and emanated a small red light that was always on. She wanted to tweak with it a bit, with her natural curiosity, to see if she could make it brighter or have an on and off switch, or magical phrase or word. She doubted she could put a lever on it. It was rather small. But also sharp. Shards generally are but held at the middle instead of a base you're not in danger of cutting yourself.
She wasn't thinking much when she too heard the pressure plate click. But it rang louder in her ears as her left foot was the one that activated it. Usually pressure plates meant a form of trap, usually something swinging down from the walls or spikes protruding from the floors. Sometimes even a wall opens up letting loose some monstrosity. Though her initial reaction was to duck for cover. Her knees were on her chest and she held her hands over her head as she tried to protect as much of her body as she could. She could hear the large pendulum swing from the wall, it's rusted blade swinging from one wall to the next. After the first swing she thought she was safe and out of harms way, but the only metal must have bent the support. It swung back and this time at an angle which caught her unprotected back. The blade tore through her dress, and ripped apart her flesh. She could feel the a sharp pain, blinding all her senses, going across her back. Using her hand to grasp the wound, she felt blood trickle down her sides.
Coraline screams aloud as soon as the blade left her rib cage. Her cries echoed in the cavern, loud replies of her own shrill slowly dulled out as they went further down the hallways, getting into every corner of the walls. They found their own way from their entrance to the exit but kept their secrets to themselves. They found new secrets, traps and even the knowledge that the two girls are not alone in this maze. Other beasts lurked within these stone walls that had no need for light to see. Years of living in darkness had let their eyes adjust and the silence had let their ears understand a whisper.
Kicking and screaming on the ground and the blade locked itself back into place, Coraline groaned in anguish. She wish to be rid of this place. If it were up to her she would curse it, break down the walls and burn every stone till there was nothing but molten slag buried deep in the earth. Taking her hand off her wound for a second, she felt more blood spill out of the gash as the stinging pain of the oils from her hand got into the wound. Laying on her side she tried to use her restoration magic to mend together her very fibers. Coraline could feel her skin start to grow back slowly as she used the spell. She still whimpered even as she was casting the spell, felling the wound still there and her robes now soaking in her blood. A small pool started to circle around her back and even a small splatter of it was staining the wall.
She could just hear Eliya mocking her in her head, laughing at her and at the same time cursing the blade for not completely severing her in two. The blade almost did her job for her and there would be no penance since she was not the one who delivered the killing blow. If Sithis could watch them through the dense barriers, then he could see that she did indeed not kill her dark sister. Though, the tenets are vague when it comes to actually speaking of killing a members. lt just says ''Never kill a Dark Brother or Dark Sister. To do so is to invoke the Wrath of Sithis.'' Does it mean do what you can to save them? Because if they are wounded do you have to do everything in your power to save them and if you're the only one around and you don't, are you responsible for their death? Coraline would hate to find that out the hard way...
Sitting up, she stopped casting her heal since at least she stopped the bleeding. If this place were as trecherous as this one room, she wants to save all her energy and magicka in case. Dungeons usually got more difficult the further you ventured in. If this place was anything like the mundane ones she is used to then it would be proven to be the most formidable one yet. She started to get to her feet slowly before buckling to her knees, the pain still coursing and burning on her back. She knelt there for a quick and brief moment to catch her breath before she inhaled deeply and picked herself up fully, ready to carry on. ''l think l should be okay.'' she said quietly, her left hand on her back still, trying to dull the pain with pressure.
After she spoke, she heard a subtle footstep in the darkness just beyond their corridor. Her heart sank as it started to get closer. ''What is that...'' she said worried. Another foot step this time louder and it sound as if it were picking up speed. Running towards them. She gripped her sword tightly and waited to see what was coming after them.

Eliya ~ Everything was happening so fast. Instantly as Eliya heard that singular click she lunged backwards to hopefully avoid whatever perilous trap had just been sprung. She didn't have time to think beyond self preservation, but her swift maneuver, did allow her to avoid near instantaneous decapitation. Coraline was not so lucky. The young elf was obviously inexperienced, but then who could possibly have known what the trap consisted of? Or that it was even there for that matter. Eliya should have taken the lead. Should have insisted on it. Even as these thoughts were racing though her head she watched as if in slow motion as Coraline was struck by one of the retracting blades. The redheaded assassin should have felt satisfaction as she watched the weapon cut deeply into the other Altmer. She didn't.
The female mage opened her mouth, but there was no time to scream Coraline's name, no time to warn her, to save her. And then there was a scream, but it wasn't Eliya. As the blades locked back into their original places, the assassin stood there, motionless. She honestly didn't know what to do. How could she stand there, so dispassionately as the young elf who had until very recently been one of the few people she'd called a friend, convulsed in pain? She took a step forward, and then hesitated. She should let her die. It's what she wanted anyways. What part of her wanted. This way it wouldn't even be her fault. IF Sithis could see within this realm, it would be evident Eliya hadn't directly correlated to Coraline's death.
She grit her teeth in frustration as the young elf shakily began to attempt healing herself with a restoration spell. Even if Eliya did want to help, she couldn't. She had no skill in the magical school of restoration. She generally relied on her supreme skill in Alchemy to whip up potions. Unfortunately for her, when she had been transported to this place only what she carried on her had also made the journey. Her green eyes scanned the floor and cautiously she stepped around the plated trigger towards Caroline. The girl was bleeding, alot. The wound in her back was not for the faint of heart. She did however seem to be successfully knitting the skin together, and in less then a minute the bleeding had stopped completely. Eliya had to admit she was impressed. Perhaps yet one of these days she might pursue such a talent. When Coraline attempted to stand, her legs buckled, dropping her back down. With speed she sometimes forgot she had, Eliya's hand whipped out and caught the other woman's right arm, so that she only dropped to her knees. "Will you be alright?" She tried to keep the words flat, to keep any concern out of her voice.
''l think l should be okay.''
"Good."
Eliya let her hand drop from the elven girl's arm. Even before Coraline spoke again, the other Altmer heard something. She didn't answer the younger woman, instead crouching and moving forward a few steps towards the subtle sound. It sounded like....footsteps. But it confused Eliya because it sounded like many little footsteps. Was there an army of some sort of creature ahead? The thought just didn't seem feasible. The mage assassin abruptly halted as she realized the sound was not only coming closer, but it had also sped up. The assassin's silver blades smoothly found themselves in her hands. Eliya quickly took those same two steps backwards, so that she was standing beside Coraline. She spoke quickly in a hushed tone. "Perhaps we should consider going back the other w-." The last word was cut off as Eliya started in horror at the monstrosity that had appeared down the corridor, before them. Was she really seeing this? Her mouth was suddenly dry and she couldn't find her voice. This creature, it was a thing of nightmares. Something that only belonged in the deranged minds of tormented souls. They were going to die.

It pulled her wound open, the skin she regrew was still thin and only helped with the bleeding so she bleed out in a few minutes. Cursing herself for being stupid enough to just crotch there instead of just move forward or backwards. The blade was just lucky, that was all. Or at least that was she would say to justify herself for getting hurt. The loose wedge that held the blade in place was just a fluke. Though this place seemed to be alive. And some unnatural force was controlling it, though that is thinking too much into it. This was a just an old dungeon. She had crawled herself through plenty already and made it out alive. This was just going to be one more obstacle in her way. Like Oblivion was she going to let this place kill her. She already defied death once in her life, she wasn't going to allow her swan song be sung without her approval.
As she was fully standing up and looking into the distant blue trying to focus her sharp mer eyes to see what was coming towards them. Her heart raced as another thing was after them, something larger then the usual goblin. Old places usually held old beasts. Ancient beings lost in time and forgotten about. Legends soon died off and the stories would be forgotten. Nothing could be said or any amount of studying could let them know about things no one knew anything about. With a loud thump that sounded like vines snapping on the stone base, it got louder. Making sure her sword was in her hand, she braced herself to face whatever was coming their way. ''Perhaps we should consider going back the other w-.'' but Eliya stopped speaking when they were able to see what it was.
Coraline wasn't so much as scared as she thought she would be. Meridia must have had a great deal of hidden things down here and all she could send at first was a giant... mushroom. The things was bursting with vines. She could make out a dominant two for it's arms, but those were even made up of several ones. And it's legs seemed to be even more vines, used to carry the large well mushroom itself. The crimson red cap on it's head seemed to be staring at them. She couldn't see any sense that this thing was actually a living creature. There were no signs of it breathing or even needing too. But if it was a giant living plant, like the ones in Valenwood, then legend should have it that they still need water and light to live. How was this thing alive? What was it? She was curious and just wanted to examine the thing. Subconciously she edged closer to the thing, wanting to get a better look at it. She wanted to dissect the thing and see how it was still alive after probably hundreds of years of being trapped down here. Though her curiosity got the better of her when it's long branch of an arm whipped at her. With a quick reflex she jumped back, it's arm cracking against the stone floor, making one of the tiles split.
She was able to quickly get her posture after the initial stinging sensation of her back, she didn't take her eyes off this thing. ''Yeah... yeah l like that idea too.'' she said as she was backing up from it. It took another large step towards them, her fear starting to build up. ''l say we just run now. Running seems like a good idea.'' Against her better judgement, she turned her back and started her way down the hall the way they came. But when she took a few steps, her leg had a vine coiled around it. It pulled back making her loose her balance and falling on her face. The sudden jolt of stopping quickly made her sword fling from her hand, it rolled down a few feet beyond her reach. She didn't see if Eliya heard her fall and turn back she just closed her eyes for a brief moment and thought of something that would make her feel happy. Some small of joy before she would be killed. If you were to ask her of what she thought of she would probably say early Loredas mornings with her father, playing outside by the lake. Skipping stones across the water and throwing a branch so their dog Lautrec would go jumping off the dock to fetch it. And after they went into the lake for a quick swim, and their feet still played with the water, they would talk to each other, and tell jokes about why it takes two goblins to light a campfire. But honestly the only thing really going through her mind as she grit her teeth and balled up her fist was that she wanted it to be quick. She didn't want to suffer while it savagely broke her bones with each attack.
She could hear the wood of the vines being raised up for another attack. As soon as she heard it stop moving she rolled to the side, and pulled out her dagger. The vine broke against the floor again, she sat up and cut the one around her ankle and then quickly stood up. But as soon as she did, she whole body collided with the wall, her ribs felt broken and her head was starting to bleed from the force of the vine that had just threw her. Coughing up blood, the vine held her in place. She reached down and held it. Quickly using her Choking Grasp spell she learned just after joining the Dark Brotherhood, she could feel the vine start to wither and decay within her grip. She broke it off with a quick tug and heard the beasts violent cry of pain. As what seemed to be it's head darting around in pain, Coraline took this opportunity to run. Her body limped as she tried to make her escape. She collapsed again against the wall trying to catch her breath. But even at this point breathing was starting to take it's toll on her. She was only a few feet from her sword. Looking back, she could see the beast making it's way towards her. Getting up she started to walk and took a few steps before falling again.

Eliya ~ So intent was Eliya on the monstrous creature before them, she didn't realize the other elf had inched closer until the thing reacted, a vine like tentacle slamming into the stonework of the floor before them. Luckily Coraline moved just in time and avoided getting lashed. The thing looked like a huge mushroom, with a writhing mass of limbs for legs, though two vines seemed bigger, one of them which had almost taken out Coraline. The mage assassin had no interest in fighting this thing. She had two hands, two legs. This thing had many. She didn't know anything about what it could be and her lack of knowledge in the matter had her at a disadvantage. Even as these thoughts were swimming through her mind, she could have swore that the thing was intelligent, its orb-less gaze making the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.
It has obviously decided it didn't like Coraline, and Eliya had no interest in waiting to see how it felt about her. As the younger elf quickly moved back beside her and agreed going back the other way was a good idea, the redheaded mage assassin couldn't help but wonder if it was too late. But running did seem like a good idea. She didn't want to act rashly, but there were time to plan and times to move. This was looking like one of the latter. The blondish silver haired Altmer girl didn't wait for a response from Eliya, but instead made what turned out to be a very foolish choice. Spinning on heel, she turned her defenseless back on the creature and made a dash for it. She didn't get far. A vine snapped out and locked itself around one of her ankles, causing Coraline to trip and fall roughly to the ground.
The vine had shot just past Eliya by about a foot, and was struggling to pull Coraline back. The younger's elf's loss of sword didn't go unnoticed. The redheaded woman moved to action as the vines released Coraline and then attacked her again, this time smashing her into one of the unforgiving stone walls of the corridor. There had to be broken bones involved in that painful crunch. Eliya didn't know if she was going to be able to help in time, but Coraline showed to be resourceful even during the trauma she was experiencing as she released a spell on the creature causing one of the hand like tentacles to wither and retract. This seemed to be effective because followed by the limb decapitation came a sound of pain. Coraline again attempted to make a run for it. Eliya took her attention away from the younger mage this time, and it was a good thing she did. The creature with a burst of speed came quickly at the two women. Eliya did the only thing that came quickly to mind, that could possible give them a chance, despite the fact it would greatly lower her mana reserve. Gathering her magicka quickly, she released a spell of paralysis. Her fingers brushed a tentacle briefly and the mushroom like monster shuddered, as it found itself momentarily unable to move. Not losing a moment, Eliya turned and grabbed the younger Altmer by the arm, forcing her up. She half carried and half dragged the younger elf and together they attempted to go back to the place the hallway had split earlier. The paralysis wouldn't last long, but hopefully it would be long enough....
