Name: Sabbath Windshadow of Light and Illusion

Age: Thirty-nine

Biography:

Personality: Callous, that's the best word to describe Sabbath. She is callous. She doesn't care about you, your grandmother or that little, abandoned puppy in the train station you call "Scraps". If she needs something from you she'll take it, whether you let her or not. If you act out like you're offended she'll simply smile nicely and ask "is there a problem?" before walking away. It's almost as though she finds amusement in your shock and frustration. She does. In fact, she'd probably pick up Scraps, be all friendly to him then take him home for ingredients in one of her potions. She'd probably find a certain poetic justice in using "Scraps" for parts.

Metal may be cold but there is still a lightness to it. Sabbath may be cold-hearted and uncaring but she is not at all depressive or bitter. There is a certain sense of amusement to her, enjoyment if you will. She enjoys her coldness to its most patronising, cruel and probing extent. She simply adores probing a person's weaknesses and watching them squirm. Worse yet, she enjoys doing it in an almost jovial manner.

Abilities/Powers: Sabbath is an illusionist. She can use spells, enchantments and potions to control light. She can suppress or enhance light that already exists or she can create light to make illusions. These illusions have no strength and no substance. They cannot fight her battles and the only physical attack she can make would be to blast a person with light (including infra-red and ultraviolet). She does this by casting spells, enchantments or potions.

Energy cannot be created or destroyed, it can only be changed into another form. Light is a form of energy. In order to create light she must have an energy source; that energy source is her life force. She does not yet know how to use energy from other lifeforms as an energy source but she can use the light around her as an energy source. Using the light around her is how she suppresses light. Casting a spell is simple, she simply uses a little bit of her life force then uses magic to turn it into light. Enchanting an object is a bit more difficult, as it continues to to sap away her life force so long as the enchantment continues. Potion making is the safest option but it takes particular ingredients and preparation to complete. On the plus side, potion making uses chemical energy rather than her life force.

In Sabbath's magic, three is a number of power. It is also a limiting factor. She can only have three spells and/or enchantments active at once. She can only have three times three spells and/or enchantments in her mind at once. Enchantments must be set up in a three, two, one point triangle with the object in the centre.

The last thing one should know about Sabbath's illusions is that the more life force you use at once the more dangerous it becomes. If she uses too much of her total life force or it flows out of her too fast she will become increasingly disconnected from her body. This may start out as her body not moving to her commands as it should or depersonalisation. If she continues to use her magic it will end in an out-of-body experience, comatose or death. One day she will be able to prevent this from happening by using the life force of plants, animals and people around her but for now it limits her abilities.

Bedroom: Sabbath's bedroom is a thing of comfort and beauty. Everything is made from the richest of fabrics with the most luscious of colours, particularly the crimson-pink she is so fond of. The light... there is no light. There are no lights in any of Sabbath's rooms. Why use electrical lights when you can use the light energy from out of doors to create your own? Even the painting on the wall is blank. Sure, it has a silver frame with Celtic engravings and there is glass protecting it but the canvas itself emits no light. The painting itself is black cotton-paper.

Bathroom: A gorgeous mirror stands welcoming at the opposite end of the room to the door and beneath it. It's framing is writ with Celtic engravings that seem to follow no particular pattern. It is an enchantment, bound in a language imagined in Sabbath's mind, a safeguard if you will. When Sabbath bathes she likes to put remove all her spells and see nothing but darkness, a complete absence of light. The mirror picks up strange frequencies and anomalies, things her spells would pick up if they were active.

When looking from the doorway, there is a spa to the left of the mirror and a cabinet, basin and toilet to the right. As a rule, the toilet lid must always remain down. The water always comes out at forty degrees Celsius and remains that temperature so long as it is above the plug hole. The same enchantment is cast upon the spa, which will always be at forty-eight degrees. It also has an inbuilt aux/mp3 player so that she may listen to music while basking in the absence of light.

Sitting area: The sitting area has been turned into a potions laboratory. The walls are double brick and lead lined so no light or sound can stray in or out. The roof has a large, filtered vent that can let fumes escape without letting sound or light in.

Along the walls the bookshelves are full of magical tomes, equipment and specimens. All of the specimens along the walls have a serial number, specimen name, date and any warnings on them. Some of the object on the shelves have to be placed in special areas or special containment so they don't contaminate anything or get contaminated themselves. Some things are chained shut and others rattle or twitch as though partially alive. There are no warnings around the "sitting room" telling people to beware; there is no need. The malicious, arcane and reactive nature of some of the things on the bookshelves is warning enough. It's almost as though their very nature is telling you to leave this place.

In the centre of the room there is a large, round table. It's about 3.5 meters across in total and takes up most of the room. The table space itself is made of polished, black stone that seems to absorb any light glowing around it. It's almost as though it's glowing in opposite, as though darkness emanates from it (when in actual fact dark is an absence of light so it is really absorbing the light surround it rather than emitting darkness). In the centre of the table there is a meter wide hole. This hole has a metal grate that has been burned black from fire. Below this grate there is a 1.5m wide cauldron, which is used to hold energy sources (such as fire). On top of it there is another 1.5m cauldron, which is used to hold the potions. There is currently nothing in either cauldron.

In the corners of the room there are a few chairs but there is no real space to eat, relax or socialise. These are Sabbath's own private quarters, not for mingling with other inhabitants.
