Banzai stood in the center of the clearing that they had made their home. It was tucked away safely within the forest and there was a tiny little stream not too far off, providing them with a fresh source of water. The stallion considered himself lucky to have found this little paradise that he and his mate now called home. Few travelers came through here and they had yet to spot any sign of danger. Still though, the stallion continued to keep an eye out. Just in case.
Alert as always, Banzai turned, ears pricked and eyes forward at the sound of someone approaching. They couldn't be terribly large, as they didn't make enough sound for a larger body, yet they still came crashing through the underbrush. As if trying to make as much noise as they possibly could. Banzai's eyes narrowed as he eyed the direction the sound came from, waiting and watching. Only relaxing at the last possible second, once he was sure it was only his daughter Lyric.
"I've missed you Daddy!" She bounced up and down in place, full of energy. "What are we gonna do today? I wanna go to the pond! Can we try and catch a fish? I've always wanted to try to catch a fish. Could I wear your glasses today? No wait, can I have your glasses? Nah, I want a pair of my own, I want some that are... cooler!" She stopped only a brief moment to catch her breath.

 Acacia was awoken sharply by a kick in the vicinity of her backbone, "Ouch!" She let out a startled squeak as she shifted to her side to make her way to her feet. It was a struggle, for a moment she thought she was going to have to call Banzai to help her to her feet. Fortunately, she hadn't actually had to do that yet...but it seemed the inevitable ability of rising on her own was about to be a thing of the past for awhile. Quickly, she did the math as she moved to her feet and shifted uncomfortable with the weight pulling her down. A week or two maybe until they were born...But she'd felt like she was about to burst for awhile, She felt like a large balloon about to pop. Another hoof kicked in her ribs. She'd tried to count several times, but she coudl never make up her mind if there were two or three. Either way, they sure liked to stretch a lot. She made her way to the entrance of the cave, suddenly kind of thirsty and starving--but that wasn't anything new. She froze in alarm when she saw Lyric...Oh crap. They hadn't exactly told her yet, and she'd kind of just started showing this big not long ago. Oh...crap.

Banzai stood frozen in place, shocked by the sudden appearance of his daughter. Where on earth had she come from? Was it time for her visit already? He could have swore she was just here, but then again with the foals on the way time seemed to be sped up and slowed down all at once. There was so much to do with what felt like so very little time. Perhaps Lyric had simply arrived early? Actually, come to think of it where was Zangar and Bangil? Lyric wasn't exactly a tiny little foal anymore, but she certainly wasn't old enough to make the journey here completely on her own. Either she had snuck away from her mother or the others would be here soon as well. A crowd was likely the last thing that Acacia would want right now, not with the foals on the way. Oh no! They hadn't told the children about them yet, there hadn't really been much time and well, they were so young it was difficult to try to explain the situation to them. Yet now, Lyric still seemed to young. What would they tell her? Perhaps she wouldn't notice? Banzai groaned at the thought. This was Lyric he was talking about. Of course he would notice.
"Hey there little rockstar!" He called out to Lyric, using her favorite nickname. "Where's your mom at? Did she come with you?" He continued on.
The little filly bounded up to her father, almost running full blast into him in her attempt to reach him as quickly as she could. "Mom's back there." She motioned behind her with her muzzle. "She left Zangar at home though cause he's not feeling well. I think it's just gonna be a short visit so she's off grazing not too far away. I told her I just wanted to spend the day with you. Oddly enough she seemed rather relieved to have a day to herself. Don't know why, you would think it would get boring." The little filly chattered on barely catching her breath between sentences.
"Anyway, where's Acacia?" Lyric asked as she looked about for the mare. She had to be around somewhere hadn't she? After all, Acacia was too pretty for her father to leave, and Lyric had already forbidden it. Her father didn't dare go against her did he? Glancing over towards the cave to her left, Lyric caught sight of the mare. "Acacia!" She exclaimed as she began to gallop full force towards the mare. She suddenly came to a sliding stop as she caught sight of the mare's stomach. "Look at you! You got fat!" She cried rather rudely, not really realizing that she was saying exactly what she was thinking.

Acacia felt a surge of happy emotions as Lyric ran toward her. Lyric had accepted her wholly, which made her feel happy, but at her childish and true words she felt her emotions go a bit haywire. She was fat. Sure, she was having foals and all that...but she couldn't help but feel ....huge, like she was wider than she was tall.
Okay, so maybe that wasn't entirely true--but it sure did feel like it. She let out a little sigh, "Well...I think...Lyric, we have to talk about that." Oh God, how was she supposed to talk about it? How were you supposed to explain to a foal that you were having foals with their father--but they weren't actually...her father's foals?

The stallion stood in shock for a few moments as his daughter chattered on rather obliviously. Did she really just call Acacia Fat? Banzai's eyes widened at the word as he looked at Acacia. However, he immediately relaxed when she appeared to be unphased by his daughter's rudeness. Although as he looked to her he could tell she was hoping that he would speak up first. With a little sigh, the stallion began to talk.
"Well you see Lyric," He paused for a long moment, attempting to find the right words to explain this to his daughter. If he wasn't careful there was a chance she would misunderstand or take things the wrong way. The last thing he wanted to do was have her go running off and telling things to her mother that weren't entirely true. "Acacia is going to have some foals." He told her at last, hoping that she wouldn't ask too many questions. He wasn't sure how much Acacia wanted Lyric to know and he respected her privacy. Although he did suspect Lyric would find out the truth one day.
Lyric looked from his father to her stepmother somewhat confused. As she took in her father's words, her eyes widened in both surprise and excitement. She could just picture it now! Cute little foals for her to play with! Ones that would look up to her and admire her! Eagerly and with glee, Lyric began to bounce up and down. "I'm going to be a big sister! I'm going to be a big sister!" She repeated over and over rather annoyingly.
It took her a few moments to wear herself out a little but finally she came to a stop and looked to the pair once more. "Do you think that they'll look like me?" She asked enthusiastically. "I can't wait to meet them! I hope they're girls, I like girls better. Boys are just plain icky. Not to mention they're annoying too. Ugh!" Zangar always managed to annoy her to no ends, it would be simply horrid if the foals only ever hung out with him. But no, she wouldn't let that happen, besides, she was too awesome for them to simply ignore.

Acacia smiled at Lyric's reactions. She was excited to have little siblings! But her heart gave a little sickening jolt when she asked if they'd look like her. Acacia took a deep breath, "Well you know that I'm not your momma. Your momma and daddy were together before Banzai and I..." She paused. "Well, these foals aren't your daddies. I wish they were...and I want them to love you like a sister. I want them to never know you as anything but as their sister."
She could feel the tears in her eyes, "They'll love you and look up to you. You'll be an amazing big sister. And we'll have more foals to--your daddy and I. You'll love them all, won't you?"

Banzai could hear the tears in his mate's voice and he quickly hurried over to comfort her. At first he had been angry when he had found out about what she had done, but mainly he had been hurt. The stallion had known that it hadn't been her fault, not really, and he still didn't blame her for what had happened. Even if the foals were not his, he was still determined to treat them with love just as if they were. After all, they would be Acacia's and he loved her enough that he loved everything that was a part of her, and that included the foals.
Banzai nuzzled his mate softly, reassuring her that everything would be okay. He would never leave her or the foals and he intended to be there for them as much as he could be. "They might not look like you Lyric," He began. "But they will still be your brothers and your sisters and I want you to treat them just like you would Zangar." He looked at her lovingly yet sternly at the same time, hoping that she would not argue with him.
Lyric stood looking rather confused. Acacia was pregnant, but the foals were not her father's? Whose foals were they then? Why would she have foals with anyone else but her father? Lyric could feel herself brimming with questions but pondered which ones she should ask. She had never been very good at being sensitive to others' feelings, but she really did like Acacia and she didn't want to upset her step mother any more than she already had. Really she supposed that she should drop the matter, but, her curious nature seemed to get the better of her.
"Alright!" She exclaimed excitedly. "I'll be the best big sister that they could have, I can teach them all sorts of things! Maybe they'll even like me better than Zangar!" Catching the look her father gave her she grinned and changed the subject. "So, if they're not my daddies foals then whose are they? Will they still like my daddy? Are they going to have to be shuffled back and forth like me? Cause that's a pain you know." She babbled on once more, not particularly censoring herself in the process.

Acacia nuzzled Banzai adoringly. She loved him, and she was glad that he had forgiven her. She was glad that he loved her so much, because she so desperately loved him. She listened to him speak to Lyric, to tell her how things would be with the foal and she was glad. She wanted them all to be family in every way.
She listened to Lyric's questions and though they hurt somewhat, she was young and wanted to know things. There was nothing wrong with that. "They'll love your daddy, and he'll be their daddy too. Blood doesn't matter when you love someone." She paused, "Zaitus is their father...biologically, but it doesn't change that Banzai will be their dad too. Or that Ellilial, Zaitus' lovemate is their other dad. It just means the foals get to have three dad and a mom. And they will be for now, but we'll be closer. And then they'll get to decide, just like you do."

Banzai felt his daughter's words like knives to the heart. He knew she didn't mean to upset either of them, but the words still hurt. One of these days, he knew she would finally learn to censor herself, or he at least hoped that she would. For now, she was still young and asked anything that she could think of. Regardless of what those questions might be. All he could do was try to answer them as best as he could without further hurting his mate and without lying. That was one thing that he had promised to himself. That he would never lie to his family.
"We wouldn't make them do anything that they wouldn't want to do." He told his daughter. "They'll be able to make the same decisions that you do and to go where they want." He paused a moment, trying to think of what else he could say. Perhaps he could change the subject. "You'll be able to teach them all sorts of things you know, I'm sure they'll look up to you a lot."
Lyric grinned up at her father excitedly. There were so many things that she could teach the foals! Singing and dancing for sure! Though she hoped at least one had some of the talent that she had for it. Not that she wanted too much competition, but someone else who knew the art would certainly be nice. "Do you think they'll be as good at singing as me?" She asked the pair. "I could also teach them to dance! And we can play games together! And I'll be the best big sister that they could have! They'll like me so much they won't even want to hang out with Zangar." She grinned widely and then changed the subject before her father could scold her. It wasn't that she didn't love her brother, oh she did! She just loved to torment him and hated having him follow her all over. Besides, boys had cooties.
"You don't think they'll be boys will they? I want a sister!" The filly was practically bouncing around all over the place with excitement. "Do you think they'll be here soon? I want to meet them!"

Acacia couldn't help but smile even though she felt fat and miserable. Lyric's smile and babbling were infectious. She felt a little better about all this, "Well, it won't matter. Even if they're all boys, I'm sure you'd get along well. They love you already, I know that." She smiled at Lyric, "And they love Zangar too. You can teach them all kinds of stuff." She quickely added, "As long as it's nice."
It wouldn't be long, they'd be here and the family would grow. Lyric would be happy, at least she hoped she still would.

Banzai shook his head at his daughter's excitement. Oh to be young again! He could remember wanting nothing but to grow up as fast as he was able to and now that he was an adult he almost missed those days. Yet even if being an adult came with responsibilities, he wouldn't trade them for the world, not as long as he had Acacia at his side. As long as he had his mate he would be content no matter the situation.
"I'm sure one of them might be a girl." He chuckled as his daughter continued her endless stream of questions. "And you know they'll love your brother just as much as you." He gave her a knowing look. Had he ever had such a rivalry with his brother? He didn't think so but it was certainly possible.
Lyric bounced around hardly even hearing anything her father or Acacia said. She was just so full of energy she couldn't keep still! Why couldn't the foals be here now? Why couldn't they arrive sooner?
"When do you think you'll have them?" She asked Acacia curiously. "I hope it's not too long. I don't like to wait." She pouted at the thought of having to wait very much longer.

Acacia smiled as another hard kick hit her in the ribs. "Come close Lyric, put your nose against my belly and you can feel them move." She smiled at her willing her to do it. "I'm sure that one of them would like to learn from you. You can help them become a great dancer or singer."
She looked at Banzai a little nervously, "I don't think it'll be that long now." She could feel the anxiety increasing in her stomach. She wasn't sure she was quite ready for this. But they did have the baskets already, this place was good...And they would be as ready as they could be now. I mean waiting wasn't going to make them more ready was it?

Banzai frowned a little at his daughter's impatience. Yet he kept quiet as the filly bounced around all full of energy. Unless she said something truly insulting or offensive, he'd leave her be for now. After all, he knew she didn't mean any harm by what it was she said.
The stallion nuzzled his mate once more. He still wished that the foals would be his, but he knew that he would love them just the same. Just as Acacia loved lyric and Zangar. Besides, there would be time for them to have their own foals together. Though he would probably wait until their current children were grown. He didn't think he could handle raising a whole herd of foals at once.
Lyric filled with excitement at the thought of the foals arriving soon and as Acacia invited her to move closer. Carefully and slowly, Lyric moved next to the mare and placed her nose on her swollen belly. She waited a moment before she felt a little kick. Startled, the filly jumped back a little with a giggle. Then she moved her nose back to the belly again, hoping for another kick. She felt one more before the foals grew quiet.

Acacia felt a sudden odd sensation that was not pleasant at all. Her face paled, and her hooves felt distinctly...wet.
"Banzai," her voice rose in alarm. "I think..." She grimmaced as a hard contraction hit her and she screamed.

Panic. That's all he could do. At least that's all that he thought he could do. Sheer terror crossed the stallion's face as he looked at Acacia in horror. How were they going to do this? Was he ready for this? With Bangil it had been easy, she just showed up with the foals. This would be different, he'd actually have to witness the birth. Briefly, he thought about sneaking off, but shook the thought out of his mind. Now was no time to be a coward. After all, he wasn't the one who actually had to give birth. He just had to stay by Acacia's side and do anything that he could do for her.
What if he screwed it up? What if something went wrong? What if... He forced the thoughts back. There wasn't time for him to panic now. Right now he had to focus on the mare in front of him. Yet somehow he seemed to be frozen in place, unable to move a step.
The filly went wide-eyed as Acacia screamed and her father froze to the spot. What was going on? Were the foals coming now? That was what she thought Acacia had said. Yet she didn't understand, couldn't comprehend, what was actually happening. She felt as if she should either leave or do something. But what could she do? What would Acacia need?
With her father frozen in terror, Lyric took in a deep breath and forced herself forward. Acacia looked as if she was in pain. What would she want if she was in pain? "Is there... is there anything you need?" She asked hesitantly. Usually Lyric would just blurt out whatever she meant. But this situation was different and she knew she had to behave or she'd be scolded.
