QUESTLINE: A Source of Water

"Wait wait, stop, wait a second!"

You pause for a second as a Famine clansmember apprehends you. You notice they are standing in a very very large ditch, carrying a shove. There is nothing in the ditch however, as you peer down into the six-foot deep expanse.

"Okay, here let me explain." She points downwards into her little project. "I am trying to create a reservoir, you know, of water. So that we can build farms again." She scowls. "Don't give me that look, it is important to cultivate as much as it is to collect. Now, I need a few good sources of water, I'm hoping once we get enough supplies to create some piping down into the water."

Did she mean, literally take from a water reserve? Well, hopefully not.

OOC

- Roll a 100-sided dice and match your dice roll to the results below. Keep on rolling until you find the perfect water reserve. You complete the quest once you have done so!

- 1-20: You reach an area that seems to be particularly wet, close to Amityville, but there also seems to be an awful stench nearby, probably not...
- 21 - 40: You head into the Weeping Forest, but only manage to get yourself lost, though you could swear you hear a trickling noise
- 41 - 60: You see a small pond close to Amityville, but it is filled with Minipet life. Maybe not....
-61 - 80: You see a well close to the Weeping Forest and hurriedly rush towards it. It is empty...
- 81 - 100: At last, deep in the Weeping Forest, you see a well. As you look deep into it, and pull the bucket upwards, you realize the water is not only fresh, it is rather delicious as well! This will be perfect! Water Reserve Found

Well, that was plenty odd.

As the famine clans member wandered away back to her . . . uh, hole, Lifen stood somewhat stunned, she decided that it was best not to stand close to it, feeling a little woozy from the small six-foot drop. Wringing her pale hands softly, she peered around, wondering what she would do. Sure, Lifen had come from a water-based society, lotus flowers and everything, but she wasn't the kind who was attuned to sniffing out springs of any case.

Giving way to the 'grand search', she turned tail and started walking with wide steps, her face almost stone straight, but eyebrows high in confusion, trying to imagine what it would show up, if it just . . . jumped out at her. It wasn't until the squelching sound came under her heels, almost making her tiny body sink a small bit, her face squishing up a little as she looked down, her toes already wet with mist and dew from the grass around her.

Well that was damp, right? She thought to herself, before the smell overwhelmed her - almost swampish smell - made her repulse a little, already almost rushing to get out of the area. In her quick withdrawal, she bumped in to a taller death-clansman, making a small squeak, before backing up quickly, clearing her throat. Was this one also being requested to search? More than one body may be useful - and she really had to get past the side of Mengyao and Yuzhi. This would be a good start.

Breathing in, she attempted conversation."Ah, Hello! I was hoping you would help me find water."

Smooth.

Nirva crossed the grounds with ease, even with soft earth she wore her heeled boots, ignoring the slight stick of each step as she moved. Her distant eyes wandering aimlessly and pondering. Talk around the camp had been a lack of water, it made her almost regret her morning habit of tea. Could such a use of water be a bit of a waste in this time of need?

The thoughts where still teasing the back of her mind when a smaller horsemen bounced against her. The small conquest girl wasted no time asking for her aid leaving her with a head cocked. "Find water?" She turned about blinking frowning confused. "Water?" She pointed back towards.

Oh.

Camp was rather far from here, she meant the new source some people had spoken of prior. "This is um. Hmmm." She held up a single finger, "A moment please?" She lifted her helemt from her crown passing it into the smaller horsemens hands. Her wings spread wide snapping down hard and fast sending her skyward and through the canopy of the Weeping woods. Her wings flickered easily turning her about carefully to inspect the woods. At first nothing jumped out but in the distance a reflection of light caught her eye. As quickly as she rose she dropped back to the ground grinning.

"Luck be with you little friend. Water is not hard to find. We ride, east of here a lake. It is not far." She took her helmet back turning with a flourish of hand and wings; smoke curling out to form her pale mount. It wore no saddle or reins, though smoke trailed from it's hooves.

"I usually do not work with Conquest," she added as she slipped onto the horses back. "But I think finding water is a simple enough task with neither politics or tricks to be found."

It was kind of wonderful, looking up at the other one in a small awe, her mouth kind of perminently in an 'oh' like position, eyes wide in curiousity. Normally she wouldn't be caught out of her element, but the gradious way that the Death Horsewoman held was a little overwhelming, almost shining. Mutely accepting the hood, she looked down at it after a moment, feeling the weight and cuts that sat deep in the metal. It was interesting, how smooth and soft could be so cold and exact, but it was kind of nice, being able to see it so close - unlike the minor rare moments she had glanced upon the other's culture from afar.

Hearing the proclamation from the taller horsewoman, he head perked up again, mis-matched eyes looking up at the blue ones that just about reflected everything. "Th-thank you." She stammered out a little when she offered up the helm again, looking to the east, her eyes lidding a bit - it was definitively away from where she had started - and if that's what the lady said, then so be it.

Taking a moment, she procured her own mount, as stern and solumn as she was herself, the bones of the horse's legs showed through her pelt, which made Lifen feel comfortable - having been one of the few in her clan to have such traits. Climbing up on it - as easy as one would climb in bed - she coaxed it softly, patting the side of the horse's head as she looked back up to to the Death horsewoman, the faint ghost of a smile on her lips.

"Politics should be left back home." She stated, her bluntness showing through again. "But your company shall be well received." She finished, before starting a canter, waiting to see what kind of riding the other was interested in, the golden bridle of her horse soft and pale next to the other's dark effects.

"I am Lifen, by the way, Hua Lifen." She offered, feeling sheepish that she didn't start with it.

The helmet was the one constant with the horsemen, it was scratched, cut, and roughed around almost every edge with a few smooth spots poking out between. She had served, she had served well, and she continued to do so even now. When she took the helmet back it was returned to her crown with grace and ease. The visor sliding down with a quiet click leaving only two blue orbs peeking out above the line of metal running over the bridge of her nose.

"There is no need to thank me, we shall be thanked for our work here today." The thought of being able to start a garden again, food, fresh water that didn't need to be boiled three times over. All of it was far more pleasing then simply being thanked.

Nirva watched as the smaller horsemen took to her mount, translucent and showing its bones much like the leg resting on its flank. She glanced at her own mount, it did not share with her much more then its pale tone to her pale skin. Fog rolling gently off it's hooves the mare simply kicked at the ground waiting an order for her rider.

Leaning over she placed her hands against the neck of the mare guiding her along with simple touch breaking into a slow gallop beside Lifen. "Old habits die hard, harder still is breaking such habits when the opritunity of chaos lets you exploit them farther." She waved her hand casually, "Nirva, Nirva Sen of the Ashen Crows." Her smile was easy, distant but easy, she was not at all bothered by the girls manners in the least.

"But I wish to, Miss Nirva," Lifen started, looking over at her sudden companion, listening to her over the sound of many hooves, as their horses took them to the point. "We conquest clansmen aren't blessed with such beautiful looking wings. It must be nice to claim the skies." She stated, her voice travelling over well - but so did the whispers that plagued her. Shaking her head softly, she watched forward as they galloped, fighting with her internal demons before coming through with a thought that calmed her, internally and externally.

"It will be nice to just curl up with a fresh tea to drink after this." She thought outloud, a soft smile breaking her face. "I was becoming to think it would be too long before I got to enjoy tea that didn't taste like it had been beaten through a strainer a few times." Sure it was idle conversation, but seeing as she didn't have much time to air out her worries much more than when she was with Mengyao, or Yuzhi - she hoped that the Death Horsewom -- no -- Nirva was as sentimental as her fellow clanmate.

She could only shrug in response to the praise, she hardly felt deserving of it for doing something so simple that any horsemen with a pair of wings could have done. "Children of War could easily have done as I did. They are the winged ones. I am simply a lucky Crow among the numbers of Death to be blessed with her wings." For Nirva the only demons she faced where memories of a life lost, she heard no voices, suffered no illusions except getting lost in her own memories.

"Tea?" Her eyes flickered up towards the Conquest girl before back to her horses mane resting her hands easily on it's neck as they road onward. "Y-yes.... clean water for fresh tea." The sentiment was shared, but with a slight ping of guilt, she hadn't had her morning tea today. For some reason the thought of making the tea alone with out Lyra being there.... she shook her head quickly dismissing the thoughts pushing back the tears that dared to follow.

"It must be nice to touch the sky, at least." She murmured after Nirva admitted the Death Clan's gift, a soft smile allowed itself slip in her normal stoic face, eyes never leaving the path ahead of them, her mare's footfalls a steady rhythm over everything - including the whispers and cries that etched themselves deep in her mind.

With a short and disruptive eye-twitch, she shook her head, and allowed a settled silence fall between the two of them for the moment, the sight of the water basin coming alight - almost like a blessing. Allowing the mare to slow to a trot, she looked to the other, a distraught look streaking her face a little, before she herself pursed her lips, her voice a little more than a soft whisper over the horses they sat on.

"You're always welcome to seek me out in the morning for an early tea." It was a small offer, in respect to what the Death Horsewoman was doing for her, but she too had lost everything, and needed more people to just be with - she couldn't stick to Mengyao's side all the time. "I would like the company." She murmured, blushing just slightly so, feeling bold.

"Oh the sky is lovely... so open and cold. It's perfect." She looked up as if debating leaving her mount right to spread her wings and blast into the sky. When they did not speak Nirva only heard silence. It was a calming silence for her, she knew not what her companion had suffered.

"It's lovelier up close I think..." She eyed the clear basin of water. While it was no crystal clear lake tucked away in the mountains of Death, it was still clear when seen beside the other waters they had passed.

"I have no home to call my own yet among the camps, but I often brew before the main tent and welcome any who wish to share a cup. There you will find me dear." Slipping from her mount she moved to the edge of the water, the horse fading in a shimmer, fog trailing in her steps as the FEAR was pulled back into her. "Come, let us see how well our spoils are."
