Buna hunted alone today, but she didn't have much luck. It would have made more sense to hunt with one of the other Abazingeli, but she needed some time alone to think. Much had changed since the last drought, and she was struggling to come to terms with it. The brown lioness was set in her ways, and she needed time to deal with change.
Being alone was a poor move, and the direction she was hunting in wasn't picked with just hunting in mind either. The most important fact she had considered when deciding to hunt out here was that it was the furthest point from the Firekin border. She would not run into any of the others by accident.
Unfortunately the game seemed to have abandoned this particular stretch of their pride border for now. No prey in sight and lots of time to think in other words.

She was tired, and the ground had ground harder and dryer as she had traveled this way. The sun, higher during the mid day, and the earth almost scratchy. She felt close. Mwako'Nakama was firekin, but not of traditional colors. Huria, and thus was more the shade of sand and sunset. But having heard what was happening, she only hoped she wasn't too late. But she was growing tired, she would need to rest, but also gather more information before making the final few days travel to the firekin lands.
Here, was new.
Bonelands, she hoped, as the firekin she had met, Spaki, had mentioned. An outpost was supposed to be somewhere, but from the look of the open and near barren lands around her, she could only assume she was near some border.

Buna saw movement in the distance, and she tensed before she could determine that what she saw was not a red or black lion. She stopped and observed the lioness moving in the distance. A lone rogue was usually not a threat, but the recent events in the pride kept her on edge. The lioness was big and bulky, but normal coloured, and she seemed to move with a purpose. She was headed towards their current territory and while Buna debated if she should confront the stranger said stranger moved closer to her position. She'd notice her any time now, unless she already had.

It was strange to be so close to home, yet still so far away, even in feeling. What would happen when she got there? Would she be welcomed back, would she be able to help? Could she fight for them? All these questions she wanted answered, but it was not yet the time.
As her paws brought her further into this land Nakama raised her eyes from the ground and saw a somewhat dark form in the not too distance, and she stopped. Though she held no traditional colors of the firekin, she still had the build and strength of her family, and she would not be stopped now.
The darker one ahead seemed to have no folly with her, not yet, but as Nakama knew she was heading into pridal territory, she wondered if this was where she believed herself to be, so she headed straight for the form. Eyes on the other, strength in her heart, fire in her eyes.

Buna wasn't exactly fond of rogue lionesses hanging around near their territories. If the Abaholi took a liking to them and let them in she dealt with it, but she didn't encourage them to stick around if she met any on her hunting trips. She was set in her ways, and while she had grown to like some of the Busisa over time, she didn't exactly enjoy the influx of new ones.
"You're approaching our territory," she called, deciding on a direct approach.

((wow dude feel free to slap me next time! FORGIVE ME D: <3))
"Then your territory is in my way," Nakama said bluntly. "I'm on my way back home, and it is very important," she said coming closer to the female. She rolled her shoulders when coming to a standstill and watched the other lioness in case she made a move to attack. "And plainly, miss, I don't care if I have to trudge through the rest of it to get where I'm headed. You won't change my mind."
Funny thing was, Nakama didn't remember a pride being this close to teh firekin before.
Or had she traveled out another side?
She'd have to follow up on that.
With a frown she looked over the other lioness, made a huffing noise, she wasn't of firekin colors, but maybe she knew where they were, how far away. "I'm heading to the Firekin, know of it? I thought it would have been closer than my travels have taken me, and I surely don't remember your lot being here prior."

Rogues on their way somewhere were not as bad as rogues waving their tails in front of the Abaholi, at least in her opinion, but the female was being rude. Buna sized the other female up, tail swishing, but she figured it would be dangerous to try to get hostile. She was on her own out here and she had never been in a real fight with another lioness. Besides, fighting was not her business, that's why they had the Abaholi. Protection. She didn't say a thing while the lioness ranted on about how she didn't care about their territory, but her tail and expression betrayed that she wasn't really happy about it. At the last question her tail froze and she even forgot to frown.
"The firekin are your.... kin?" she said, astonished, "I haven't seen many normal coloured ones..."((No problem! I was trying to dig myself out from my own pile of tags =D))

She quirked a brow at this lioness. She knew of the firekin at least, but seemed to know them to a point of speaking, perhaps? She had to have seen many. Hopefully, the two prides were not at war. This female did not seem like the invading type, however. "They are," Nakama said with a nod, "I am Mwako'Nakama," she said with a slight tip of her head, "firekin by blood, though, as you have seen, not by formalities."
She pondered over this lioness for a moment, but knew that she, nor the lioness, was a threat here.
"I wish no harm or to cause any trouble, I only wish to get home to aid my family. They are still there, and I want to help protect, even if I cannot return in permanece."

"I'm Buna," she said in return. "Of the Ithambo'hlabathi." She didn't think the other female would recognise their pride, but that didn't stop her from introducing herself properly. The tension in the air started to dissipate. So this was what they looked like, the ones that weren't allowed to stay in the firekin. If they were all normal coloured like this it might not be too bad if one or two decided to stay. Just as long as they were willing to adopt their traditions and learn to behave like proper bonelands females. Buna was practical enough to realise that the fire females looked strong, and would probably be capable hunters. And as long as there weren't too many of them...
"You could probably return through the outpost," Buna said, as if there had always been one. "They are supposed to send those that are not red there now so they'll probably let you in too. I didn't know you were able to return."
Buna was torn between curiosity and a dislike of the foreign, but for now her curiosity had the upper paw.

"Buna, I'm sorry if I've cause any trouble by my coming unannounced," Nakama said watching her. This lioness seemed strong but perhaps, distant. What kind of pride was this? Were they warriors as well? She eyed the female, Buna, wondering what strengths her muscles had, but would not truly know unless fought against or seeing a display.
Outpost?
The huria were being sent here now?
Nakama was confused, she had heard none of this. Though, truly, all she wanted was to go home. As a cub, all she wanted to do was change her pelt but the mud and sand couldn't help her. It was hot here, and she wondered how without water the others could be fairing.
How her mother was fairing in this.
Know of her return?
She shook her head.
"They don't know I'm coming, not yet. Unless the firekin beyond the borders had already returned with my message, but I'm unsure. I'll send my avian ahead of me soon, to let me mother know I'm coming. I am no threat to them, or you, I only wish to help where I can. They are still my family."

Buna found herself warming up to the stranger, if only a little bit. It helped that the female didn't intend to stay, and that her coat didn't have the colours of an outsider. She looked foreign - but not alarmingly so. And despite their cultural differences there were parts she could understand. Family. Family was what held her own pride together, and since Buna had brothers she knew what it was like to see family members leave the pride. She wondered how she would react if a brother turned up on the border. It could happen, she supposed, but it wasn't likely. Gakere was still in his prime, and she didn't think their current Abaholi would be overthrown anytime soon. Too soon... The pride had barely adjusted to the new reign of power.
"It's your mother," she said, "I'm sure she will be happy to see you."
Buna decided that it would probably be best if she showed the way to the outpost. A lone lioness traveling through the lands might cause quite the commotion.
"I'll show the way," Buna said, and started walking expecting the other to follow, "This is not a good place to hunt today, and I don't want you to get lost on the way. The Umzingeli might try to attack if you strayed too close to our cubs. Keep your bird close, I don't know if those nasty vultures are friendly other birds."
The vultures... That was another recent development that she wasn't sure what to think about. The Cinga had proved useful at times, but Buna was wary about the vultures. Some of them were rude, and it was just weird to have them so close. The birds didn't fit in her picture of the pride hierarchy.
