AMITYVILLE

Amityville:

The sheer volume of students makes it hard to navigate around the established school facility. The outskirts of Amityville are mostly abandoned, though everyone knows the goods lie around the foundations of the school, mostly next to the spacious outdoor gym, the front gates, and the auditorium area. Students occasionally linger around, some wary of your presence, others more than willing to help.

Rules:

- This RP is possible with students!
- Roll a 100-sided dice each time you post. Match your dice roll to the results below as to what you find. Make sure to RP out the post. You can work with someone else as well, so each of you can obtain max 10/15 items (depending on your job class)
- You can also invite students to your RP. Students can come into your scavenging RP to help/ ask questions/ etc etc as long as they are invited the conventional means (ie: through a PRP etc etc). IF you make your thread an ORP that means you're in theory allowing any students to snoop at what you are doing! If you are making it a solo, that means Amityville students are not allowed/ do not see your thread. Students cannot collect supplies, but they can try to provide helpful hints about the school/ make conversation/ try to assist carrying supplies/ etc etc. Students are still not allowed on the Lost Clan reservation though, so after they get to the Amityville gates students will have to stay at the school.
- Once you are done collecting supplies, you can point claim here

- 1- 10 Solid bricks
- 11 - 20: Gnome Cement
- 21-30: Large wooden door
- 31- 40:Reinforced Metal desks
- 41- 50:Shatter-proof glass
- 51 - 60: Ripped curtains
- 61- 70: Thick cable wire
- 71- 80: Large round pebble
- 81 - 90: Pliable adhesive
- 91 - 100: Slightly used garbage bin.

Sören had a mission, and he was going to complete that mission. Scavenge for supplies. The task irked him, it was a task that was fine for those in famine that trained for this, but he was a guardian, and this? This was not his forte. But he could do it, and he would. And if he was going to do it at all he might as well do it right. But just stepping outside in this place was disconcerting. There were plants everywhere, and while he had been in planted areas before normally he was too busy doing other things to pay them much heed, except possibly to pluck a flower to take back to Astridr, just to see the way her eyes would light up as she examined the petals...

No.

He was not thinking about that right now. There was work to do, a mission. He would have plenty of time to think about her and the Isle when he tried to sleep, for now he needed to look ahead, to focus on the here and now and just go to scavenge. He could see others heading into the forest, but he himself was not confident with that. He did not know what plants may or may not be useful, and quite frankly he did not want to get lost and have to rely on some War horseman to rescue him. Which left one real choice, Amityville.

Even as he neared the gates to the school Sören's eyes were busy sweeping around him, constantly alert. He walked with an air of complete confidence, back rim-rod straight, face stern, his helmet wore more as a mask than as protective gear.

Even though he had barely reached the gate he managed to stumble across...reinforced metal desks? He glanced around, wondering. They looked a bit unstable, rocking back and forth a bit when he tested them, but the metal was still sturdy. Perhaps they were getting rid of them for the bobble, or perhaps someone had left them out on purpose. Or, maybe because the weather was nice someone had decided to study outside? But even if they wobbled a bit the metal could be reworked, or they could be utilized to shore up a defense.

He picked them both up, one under each arm, and was about to keep walking when he noticed a ghoul fairly close. He called out to her, his voice all but booming as he was putting some volume to it. "You there. Ghoul. These desks here for a reason?"

Since the event at the Isles, Taryn had not seen many of the horsemen about Amityville. Of course, she wasn't allowed to go visit them and they weren't allowed to come visit the school, so all she could manage was a kind of quiet respect for the desperate men and women. The ghoul had no idea what was going on beyond the gate, and so to see a rather stacked man in a helmet carrying a pair of desks was a bit of a... culture shock. What Clan had he been from, she wondered?

"Um!" Sheer brilliance. The chimera did nearly a full 180 to see if the horseman wasn't talking to someone else and then jogged over when she decided he wasn't. Yelling was impolite. "I don't know. It doesn't look like anyone's using them... why?" Was it rude to ask? She hoped not.

Good, she was responding to him. Though judging by the way she was looking about perhaps she had been taken off guard. That was somewhat of a concern, one did not drop ones guard simply because they were at home. "So they'd be free to take?" he pressed, giving a nod of satisfaction before she really had a chance to reply. Well, and if these things were free to take, so were the other things near the gates then. Like those garbage bins right over there.

He set down the desks next to each other and walked over to the bins. There were two that seemed to be in good condition if a bit used, and metal. So there was always that option of having them melted down. The fact that they had garbage in them was of little concern to him, he had a mission after all. He dumped out the bags of trash and lifted the cans to take them back over to the desks, creating his own little scavenged treasure trove. "Where else at this school can I scavenge for materials?" he asked bluntly as he paused his scan of the area for a moment to look down at her, eyebrows knitted together it what wrinkles suggested was an expression used far, far too often.

Taryn opened her mouth to speak, but it was just left hanging open as the horseman collected a pair of trash bins. What, exactly, was he doing out here, and why the trash bin? Was he going to try to scrap the metal or something? As she watched in disbelief, the chimera found her voice and raised a finger.

"Um! Wuuuh, um," her finger fell and she turned back, brushing a lock of black hair behind an ear, "I don't really know. We could look? I took my final out by the dumpsters, there was a lot of stuff down there. What are you looking to make, exactly?"

There were still a few desks nearby, and it would be bad of him to waste them. He plucked them up easily and carried them over as she talked, deciding that with four of them they probably needed to stack. Either they would stack, or he would make them.

They stacked.

"I am not looking for rubbish," he told her shortly. He stopped, and looked at her for a moment. "We are rebuilding. Anything that could be of use for that purpose." He glanced back at his "trove" and had to force himself to remember that it could always be melted down. "Take me to where these dumpsters are." It was no polite request, nor was it harsh. It was a simple demand, and he waited for her to lead the way.

Oh, wow. She simply stood, hands at her sides, looking like she wanted to speak and just had no idea what to say. Sure, she owed the horsemen some modicum of respect, but this was just a little ridiculous. She hadn't seen any proper classrooms on the isles, so what did this guy plan to do with a bunch of desks?

Well, to each their own. Maybe he just wasn't the best scavenger.

"Right. Follow me." The ghoul was perhaps a bit terse, but who wouldn't be? She had offered a suggestion and it had been snappily refused... and then a demand had been made. This guy wasn't anything like anyone she'd met. War, she'd bet.

Taryn led the horseman around the building to the tunnels of trash, pointing to the piles before the entryways. "There's more back there, but you have to wade through it, and it's more dangerous than it seems. Of course, he'd probably tell her he was a grown man and he didn't need a little ghoul's suggestions. Bah! She hoped the mattresses flung him like they had her.

"Dangerous?" For the first time a trace of humor may have entered his voice. There was not a mattress in the place that would dare to fling the horseman. Or maybe he just did not come across any of them as he began to wade through it.

But he also was not coming across anything useful. He thought he saw something useful but when he bent down he realized it was just a scrap of foil. Not wanting to look ridiculous he grabbed a couple of round pebbles and shoved them into his pocket. Very smooth. "Do you intend to stand there all day?" He asked pointedly before turning.

Unfortunately something in the area had leaked some sort of weird, slippery ooze, and his feet went out from under him. He managed to change how he fell, aiming for a mattress.

The mattress simply bounced him back up, though he managed to stick the landing as he came down, ending in a crouch and looking thoroughly miffed, despite the athleticism shown.

Alright, you b*****d. It was on. Taryn's lip curled up, flashing sharp fangs as she ducked into the tunnel. He had managed to escape that time, but she wasn't stupid. There were pitfalls all over this place, maybe he'd fall down one.

"Do you intend to be an insistent a** all day?" She hadn't been required to show him prime scavenging grounds, she was just being nice. Now she was done being nice. You were never supposed to be rude to adults, but this guy sincerely hit her as more of a scareling than most she knew. Regardless, she waded in and began to pick through the trash, her skirt dangling safe above the refuse as she crouched on digitigrade legs. She saw a glint of tarnished metal and pointed, shuffling over to the area. "What's that?"

Something useful, maybe? ...no.

"I found more desks..."

What had she just said to him? He was staring at her, jaw set. This...this scareling had called him an a**? "Ghoul..." He was about to tell her something that she surely would have appreciated when she pointed at something. So there was something actually useful in this place?

He began moving closer before she announced what it was, and he was almost next to her and gave her a glower. "Just what do you expect me to do with more desks?" He demanded to know. Of course, he had set aside four already, so obviously he had thought they would be useful. But he did not want to admit that now. Grumpily he moved past her to get something else that seemed odd where they were. Despite the fact that he was moving somewhat heavy items away he managed to unearth two nicely sized panes of shatterproof glass, hefting the heavy panes up with a small grunt of exertion. Okay, maybe the ghoul had known what she was doing when she brought him to this place.

Taryn threw her hands up in defeat and wandered away. Right. Why was she compulsively helping this guy, again? A ribbon of smoke trailed from one nostril as she snorted and offered her arms out.

"Here, let me." She could carry a pane of glass or maybe both if they were really shatterproof. How this was going to help them rebuild, exactly? Were they going to launch an attack against Halloweeners with guns? Alright, she was done. This guy was clearly used to being in charge, and as much of a jerk as it made him, his causes were noble. Suck it up, ghoul, and carry on. The more you helped, the quicker you got out of here, right? "So who are you...?"

Soren had no qualms about passing the glass to her as he continued to look for things. Let her at least be useful when she could be. Hopefully if she was offering to help she could manage both panes.

"I am Sören, Guardian of --" his throat closed off as the realization washed over him again that he no longer had anyone to protect. He shut his eyes for a brief moment. "Guardian of the Lost Clan." His voice sounded a bit hollow as he said it and he reached for the closest thing, thick cables of wire that would be excellent for lashing things down. "Who are you, ghoul?"

For what clan? Or, worse, for what person...

Oh, she shouldn't have said anything at all. Why did she have to be so damned awkward with people? For a moment the ghoul struggled to hold the panes properly, but she adjusted quickly and only seemed to be slightly unbalanced by the weight. She hobbled to another pile and hunched to pretend and look through it. Mostly she just felt like an a**.

"Taryn. I'm nothing to nobody, just a ghoul." She adjusted her glasses with her free hand and crouched, fingering what looked to be a discarded childhood toy. How creepy... and probably best to not let the man see. He'd probably lost all kinds of family when the isles had sank. The chimera straightened and cracked her neck, shuffling over to see whatever Sören was investigating. "You plan to scrap it, or...?"

Though he did not say it...at least this halloweener knew her place. Just a ghoul. But a useful ghoul it seemed, at least for scavenging. "If nothing else I can use it to tie the glass to the desks," He bothered to explain. Mostly he did so to prove that his scavenging skills were not entirely useless, though really building was not his strong suit, and it was entirely possible that he was picking out completely useless things.

"Take this." He was shoving the wiring at her free hand, not even waiting to see if she would take it or if she would mind that he was passing off more things to her. Then he reached down and began to wrestle out two more panes of glass, these ones slightly larger than the ones she was currently carrying. These ones had a light-blocking film stuck on them, which was now about half-way off in flecks. Apparently it had become too annoying and had been trashed, but a good scrubbing could clean off the surface. "This is about all I can carry," he admitted before turning back the way they had come.

She gave a soft grunt of exertion as the coil fell into her elbow and pulled her down. Right, she had come here to be useful. At least it seemed like they were getting out of here. She was so done with this guy.

Taryn had to crouch and come up from beneath the coils to heft them, and this was a hell of a lot heavier than a couple panes of glass. Her gait was horribly comical as she began to hobble back out of the tunnel, smartly avoiding the mattress as she passed. No way was she falling through anything else down here, just follow the jock out of the tunnel...
