The Story

2017 Updated:

Creatures that have become little more than myths and legends to our modern society have roamed the earth for thousands upon thousands of years. At first, they mostly abided by one, seemingly simple rule:

Creatures of magic, of power, are to live in secret among the humans. They may observe them, even dwell and work among them, but not harm them. They must, at all costs, protect the secret of their existence.

Over the course of time, the creatures have been known to show themselves, to attack humans or livestock, sometimes unintentionally and others with malicious intent, but still they remain known as little more than fantasy, all but ruled by the humans. Which does not settle well with many.

But that is not where our story truly begins. No. It begins not long after the creation of man. It begins soon after what many know as the Fall, when angels became demons, when they, too, began to roam the earth, some in physical forms.

In the fight between good and evil, there were two who stood out, two who had long since worked together to protect the earth. But then came the Fall. One, granted the name Chaim, remained an angel of the sea and was tasked with the duty of protecting the humans of Earth from harm of those born of a magical, "mythical" race. The other, Agrona, fell to evil's oily, welcoming false promises, becoming a demon of the sea. After the Fall, the two fought vigorously for eons, Agrona building an army with the soul purpose to bring down Chaim so she could gain the promise given her: that all of humanity would be the ones who had to cower from the magic creatures, that they would bow at her feet, or die by her hand.

But their fight did not go unnoticed.

Those creatures bound by the Rule took sides. Some fought alongside Chaim, who granted a few of them powers to aid in keeping humanity safe while he was preoccupied with the larger threat. Many of these beings became Peacekeepers, who have the vast powers to cover up major attacks on humans by the supposed mythical creatures. Then there were those who sided with Agrona, who desired for humanity to be the ones in hiding, not them, for the tables to, at last, be turned so they may live without the risk of the Peacekeepers putting an end to their marauding. Some of them gave themselves up fully to Agrona, becoming creatures known as the Corrupt, shadowy monsters bound to the sea demon and granted extra abilities and powers, many of whom were once Peacekeepers who had fallen from or otherwise betrayed Chaim for Agrona.

Then, there were those few who knew about the war, but chose to take no sides, who did everything in their power to stay as far from it as possible. People and creatures who feared for their lives, and the earth’s. It is this fear that drove a powerful group of ancient mystics to create something that, should the need arise, could bring an end to the war once and for all. And so, in secret, managing to elude detection by the armies, they created a crystal that harnessed the purest, truest forms of magic. But what they created was more powerful than they had imagined, capable of enhancing someone’s powers to an inconceivable, unstoppable level. Realizing that if this crystal fell into the wrongs hands, it would mean the death of everything they held dear, they locked it away in a hidden pocket dimension filled with monsters and traps, a dimension only a select few would be capable of entering and navigating should they be unlucky enough to stumble upon it.

And so, the secret of the crystal passed on from one generation of the mystics to the next, until it became nothing more than a distorted whisper. Not long after their war played a part in causing the Ice Age, Chaim discovered a means to lock Agrona away, if only for a time. With the demon gone, Chaim and his followers hunted down those still following in her footsteps. But over time, they began to dwindle. Her army dispersed, going their separate ways, but carrying on their evil deeds when they thought no one was watching.

At least, until a couple billion years later. Now, in our modern days, the enchantment trapping Agrona has worn off. She runs free, gathering people once more for her cause, only this time, she is even more determined to bring about Chaim’s—and humanity’s—demise. The Peacekeepers, who once ran in a great abundance, have begun to die at an alarming rate from “unknown causes,” leaving much of the world prone to attack. Humans have begun to take a greater notice of these creatures they once called “mythical.” And a battle waged since the beginning of time threatens to come to a true end.

And now, the whispers of the crystal have reached both Chaim and Agrona, neither of whom can enter the pocket dimension. It has become a race to find those chosen few, convince them to join their side, and to retrieve the crystal in their stead. It is a race to determine the fate of the world.

A race where the punishment for the loser is death.

When the flag has been waved, and the race begun,
what will you be fighting for?

2012 Original Rundown:

Creatures of the night, of the day, of the myths must all hide away; disguise themselves to remain undetected by the humans they must live amongst in harmony.

That is the Rule of the Creatures; a rule every mythical beast knows, yet not every creature agrees with. From the dawn of the rule, there has been opposition when it came to who must hide: the humans or the beasts.

Until these latter days, only a few creatures have dared reveal themselves in human society. Before, there were stronger bodies known as the Peacekeepers, beings who were created for the sole purpose of keeping the Rule of the Creatures and to stop and dispose of any who tried to disobey it.

It is they who would clean up any mess a foolish revelation or supernatural attack left in its wake; they who would either wipe the human's memories of what had happened or terminate the problem in its entirety, creating the illusion a freak accident.

There were once thousands of the Peacekeepers roaming the land near and in the human cities, their forms invisible to those who knew not of their existence, but this was long ago.

Now, many of the Peacekeepers have 'died' of unknown causes, leaving clearance for many attacks on the humans. Now, many mortals know of the existence of mystical creatures, some of them taking less kindly to the knowledge than others. What they don’t know is of the battle raging beneath their feet, threatening their very existence.

As rumors of two opposing Armies spread quickly amongst the creatures, one determined to purge the world of humans and the other to save them at all costs, fear and excitement has spread through the foundation of many races.

When the battle between the Armies begin, which side will you be on?

Updates
(Last Update: 5-17-17)

5/17/17--Chaim has thus far posed traveling to the dimension to find the crystal to the few on his side who are capable of entering. He is waiting for a couple answers, before our heroes--and vilans--set out for the dimension, while the mysterious society remains, well, mysterious.

Peacekeepers and the Corrupt play little, if any, part in this anymore, besides as Agrona's henchies, or if something major happens where they're needed. However, Peacekeepers have been basically replaced with the Otinium, as explained in a below post under "Vaiport."

While new characters will still potentially be accepted, no further neutrals will be allowed unless they tie into the pocket dimension, and must be willing to go to the said dimension for Chaim, Agrona, or their own personal reasons. Either way, that's your ultimate destination... for at least one of your characters, anyway, should you have multiple. The only exception to this is if you do have multiple characters, and some remain outside the dimension to participate in a pertinent story line outside it. If you would like to play someone/thing already inside the dimension, send me a PM. We can try to work something out.

3/13/15--The objectives of the armies have shifted. Somewhere, deep within a world which only a select few can enter, a crystal resides, protected by ancient magics and perils unimaginable. It is this crystal that holds the power to grant either the angel or the demon the powers to rule over humanity. Yet, neither Chaim nor Agrona are capable of entering into this alternate dimension, forcing them to place their hopes on the select few who can step foot into the land of the crystal.

While the eternal fight between Destroyers and Defenders grows ever stronger, a mysterious society of shadowy figures lies entwined with the Supernatural community, plotting away on their own time for their own, currently unknown gain.

The Rules

~ No god modding.
~ Follow Gaia’s ToS and guild rules.
~ Keep it PG-13.
~ No txt tlk.
~ Write in THIRD PERSON. (E.g. "Stacy ran from the pack of wolves, her hair billowing around her face.")
~ No more than two indispensable characters (characters with a profile) under your control. NPC characters are unlimited.
~ Do not kill another character unless you have the player’s permission, and both parties must inform me.
~ Your character cannot be infallible. S/he will fail. S/he will get wounded. Deal with it. If you start to make your character like that without reason and don't heed my warnings, I'll fix that little problem myself. twisted
~ If you have a problem with another's character, state so in a courteous PM to keep issues from spreading to the RP. If problems persist, feel free to contact me or, better yet, a mod.
~ In the end, what I say goes.
~ Place a ninja in the same private message that you send your character profile in so I know that you have read the above rules.
~ If a player lacks a profile posted by me or posts their own, ignore anything they write.
~ If I find your character to be a threat to the RP, I have the authority to kick you out and dispose of your character in whatever way I see fit.
~ Throw in a pirate in your character profile message just so I know that you got at least this close to the end.
~ For OOC, use the forum topic linked at the top of this post (active rule as of 4-2-17).
~ If you plan on being away for a while, inform both me and any others your character(s) is/are interacting with.

I will revise the above as the need arises, so feel free to check back upon occasion.

Are you willing to follow these rules? Yes? Then let us find out who you are...

Character Skeleton

Note: As of 5-17-17, any further character additions will have to be apart of and working for either Agrona or Chaim, due to current story standings.

Send skeleton's to me via a PM with "Rebellion of the Creatures" in the subject line. DO NOT begin to RP here until I have accepted you! NO ACCEPTED PROFILE MEANS NO POSTING.

If there are any changes you wish to make to your profile after it has been posted, please notify me.

Player Characters

Defenders

Chaim: Angel of the Sea
Player:Siaya Dragalorn

Gender: Male

Appeared Age: 20

Actual Age: Older than dirt

Allegiance: Leader and creator of the Army of Defenders

Weapons: Chaim uses the sword that he made many years ago to defeat his sister, Agrona, though he hoped to never have the need to use it for its true purpose; to kill his only remaining family, as evil as she may be.

Personality: Calm and quiet, Chaim is not one to lose his cool quickly. He has a kind disposition and a strong desire to protect the humans in their imperfections. Most, with good reason, trust the man, happily leaving their lives in his hands. Though he seems happy and carefree, his eyes show his recent sorrows. A word to the wise, though; Fear the wrath of a patient man.

Powers: Like his twin sister, Chaim has many powers, a few of which being the ability to control the sea and other bodies of water along with the element, the capability of healing to a certain extent, and hiding his wings to fit in better with the humans he so loves.

Appearance: Standing at nearly seven feet tall, his features are strong and defined. His kind, mixed eyes (one sea-green the other a dark blue-black) rest upon a handsome, perfect face. He wears his green, seaweed-like hair just shorter than his sisters, its strands not quite as fine as hers. The teeth beyond his lips are normal enough, excluding their exceeding white color. Deep wisdom rests within the depths of his eyes; wisdom and sorrow, his skin holding a slight tan from the years he has spent upon the land of the humans. Upon his back sprouts a pair of green wings, the tip of each feather lined with the color of the raven.

Clothes Wear: On a normal day when not living amongst humans, Chaim wears a green, hooded robe, beneath which he wears a shirt, pants, and belt that he hangs his swords upon as the picture also shows. If you look, the material of the robe and clothes shimmers as if they were made of water. ((Note: The guy in the green outfit is NOT Chaim.))

Bio: For as long as he has been alive, Chaim has found himself with a fascination of the humans. For eons, he has walked the earth, protecting the race as well as he could against any wishing to harm the simple beings. With them in mind, he created the Peacekeepers to both keep the Rule of the Creatures and protect the humans against at least a few of those out to kill them. To those who sincerely joined the Peacekeepers, he gave abilities he thought would be nessicary to handle the other threats. Despite his greatest attempts, his sister persisted on attacking the creatures he so loved, wiping out Peacekepers by the handful. Finally, after creating an army to fight off Agrona, he found an answer to his problems. A young girl told him of a way to lock up his sister for the rest of eternity, thereby eliminating one powerful creature killing off the humans.
To his dismay, the isolated prison he had cast Agrona into in hopes of keeping from killing his sibling was not enough to hold the woman. Now, he fears the outcome of the inevitable battle looming over him, casting a shadow on his usually happy and carefree disposition.

Other: The aura about Chaim often draws people to him. It speaks of wondrous life and joy; love and peace. His scent is like the calm sea on a breezy spring day; cool, yet warm; calm, yet wild. It is the smell of safety, of bravery, of liveliness, of dolphins playing happily beneath the surface of the calm, tranquil sea.

Karinda Drathone
User Image
Player:Siaya Dragalorn

Race: Immortal (Incapable of dying from disease, ageing, or famine, but can be killed by a fatal wound.)

Gender: Female

Appeared Age: 17

Actual Age: 817

Allegiance: Defender

Weapons: On her left hip hangs her sword, Aleron, while upon her right a short, light chain whip rests, its length easily extending to ten feet at her command. *Note: the edges of Aleron are a deep blue, its center a crimson red, while the chain whip mirrors the sword’s color to perfection with a black handle and matching blades.

Personality: Taught to always be alert, Karinda is cautious and quick on the draw. Though kind and caring, she will not hesitate kill in order to defend herself or her loved ones, even if it means giving up her own life.

Powers: Telekinesis and control over fire and air.

Appearance: Within Karinda’s vibrant, dazzling blue eyes, her age and experience can be seen lurking within their depths. The marks on the left side of her face are silver, much like the scales of her dragon companion, Saiirin.

Clothes Wear: From her ears, a pair of ruby earrings hang.

Quirks: When distracted or in deep thought, she tends to pace or twirl a strand of her hair.

Bio: Born in the year 1195, Karinda grew up a vagabond, traveling with her parents as they went from market to market to sell the many goods they collected along the way. One fateful evening when she was naught but five years old, her parents set up camp for the night with the full moon shining its face upon them. As they snuggled in about the fire, a menacing snarl floated to them from across the clearing. With her mother whispering comforting words in her ear, the three stood, her father drawing his sword as an abnormally large wolf stalked forward. Two other ‘wolves followed the first, flanking it.

“Run,” her father had commanded, and they did. With the fearful five-year-old held in her arms, Karinda’s mother ran as fast as her legs could carry her, the howls of a ‘wolf close on their heels. Out of breath, Karinda’s mother said a tearful farewell and commanded her daughter to stay silent as she hid her within the hallow of a tree.

As the night grew cold, a group of elves on their way home from a hunt heard the girl’s sobs. Deciding to take her in, they raised Karinda as their own, teaching her the ways of the Elvin kind.

By the age of 15, she could beat nearly everyone in their village with the sword and was a marksman at archery. At the age of 17, Karinda was bestowed the gift of immortality by one of the Elders, the marks on her face proof of her inability of ageing or growing ill.

For nearly 300 years, she fought battles alongside the elves and embarked on innumerous adventures, creating both friends and enemies. In the year of 1512, she bit off more than she could chew. Embarking upon the quest to bring about the downfall of a mighty sorcerer threatening to expose the existence of mythical creatures, she was ensnared by the sorcerer.
Forced into imprisonment for 500 years, she has at long last been released--cast into a new era filled with the threat of the mythical and mortal worlds colliding.
Other: A small dragon, Saiirin, has found companionship with Karinda, its scales glittering the purest of silver and eyes a glorious gold. Capable of shrinking down to an inch, Saiirin’s natural size falls just shy of two feet from head to tail. The dragon was captured alongside Karinda, frozen in time for 500 years.

Loki
User Image
Player: BlissfulCalamity

Character Name: Loki

Race: Shape-shifter

Gender: Female

Appeared Age: 20

Actual Age: 20

Allegiance: Defender

Weapons: Loki uses whatever is useful to her at the time, whether that be teeth, claws, or a frying pan.

Personality: Loki is generally an easygoing person who prefers to keep peace with anyone around her. She does not enjoy seeing others suffer harm.
Before her son, Jarod, came along, she was lost, insecure and generally passive about her life. After his arrival she began to work on herself as a person. She feels she is far from perfect, but wants to be as healthy an example for him as she can be.

Fear: Loki is afraid of losing her son like she lost his father and her own, whether that means physically losing him, or losing her relationship with him in some way. She is afraid of failing him. She fears her own faults and hesitations will cause otherwise avoidable bad situations (especially for others), and fears rejection from those she loves or otherwise wishes to belong to.
“Real” weapons are not something that Loki ever learned to properly use or defend herself from, so they make her uncomfortable.

Powers: Shape-shifting.
Due in part to growing up without a member of her own kind, Loki never truly mastered her shapeshifting abilities. She is for the most part limited to looking and sounding like other creatures, and tends to form Loki-versions of other species vs exact replicas of individuals. However, having (and in some way taking in) a bit of a creature does help refine the illusion with some adjustment to non-visual physiological details, such as perceived scent, perceived composition of skin/scales/fur, etc.

Major Strengths and Weaknesses: A sure strength is her physical and mental stamina. She may not be the most powerful or most efficient, but she has excellent endurance. With a strong enough motivator, she can and will act swiftly and effectively. If only she could stop overthinking and firmly make up her mind about things more often.
Loki has a habit of doubting herself, battles co-dependent tendencies and deals with bit of an inferiority complex, especially when faced with stressful situations.

Appearance: Loki’s hair is grey and short, usually above shoulder length. One of her eyes is blue, the other green.

Clothes Wear: Loki sticks to wearing simple, comfortable clothing, but will wear what is suitable to the situation she is in.

Quirks: She'll look up at the sky when she has nothing else to do, or otherwise stares absentmindedly at something in her environment. When particularly nervous she has a hard time looking directly at anyone, and she tends to wrap her arms around herself or touch her face/hair in various ways that would be normal except for the fact that it’s done more frequently than necessary, sometimes almost compulsively.

Bio: Loki was raised by a werewolf who was never clear about her origins, but around 12 years of life she lost him to humans made violent by fear. She lived wandering aimlessly until the day she heard of a conflict among supernatural creatures led by two groups: The Defenders and Destroyers.
Loki began as a Neutral in a half-spirited search for anyone who might be involved with the situation. Eventually she found herself in with a small group of creatures, primarily Defenders, who helped her feel more strongly about the situation, and realize that she felt more aligned with Defender beliefs.
During her time with this group she was romantically involved with a werewolf who unfortunately sided with the Destroyers. He disappeared unexpectedly and without explanation before their son, Jarod, was born. After the arrival of her son she ended up leaving the group to focus on him for the first few years of his life, knowing that sooner or later she would have to find her way back.

Jarod
User Image
Player: BlissfulCalamity

Character Name: Jarod

Race: Shapeshifter/Werewolf

Gender: Male

Appeared Age: ~7 years

Actual Age: ~3 years

Allegiance: Defenders

Weapons: None, but he has an interest and would very much like to acquire one someday.

Personality: Although Jarod has the age of a human toddler he is physically around 7 years old. Jarod loves learning new things and spending time watching and interacting with new people. When generally upset, he grows quiet and moody, but when he's greatly bothered he can lose control of himself, much like his father did. Like his mother he is not one to enjoy the suffering of others.

Fear: Jarod is afraid that he is the cause of his father’s disappearance. Now that he and his mother have found the Defenders, he is developing a fear of being deemed inferior or not belonging in this place where he has always been told he finally would.
Despite being part of the supernatural world himself, some of the creatures out there can be pretty scary to him. He is on his way to overcoming his fear of the dark, but it is not yet gone.

Powers: Jarod’s shifting abilities are basically those of a doppelganger; he can imitate any individual he sees, male or female, primarily in appearance, voice, and general behavior. He can only do so with humans or very human-like creatures.
Jarod inherited his father’s pyrokinesis. As with many supernatural creatures, he is a bit faster and stronger than a human boy would be.

Major Strengths and Weaknesses: Jarod, as a pyrokinetic, is well on his way to being a force to be reckoned with. As with his father, emotions seem influence his power. As a toddler, he had a few incidents reminiscent of his father’s destructive emotional outbursts. Unfortunately, this got his mother in the habit of inhibiting any real practice with this ability and with expression of “too” strong negative emotions. Much of what little practice Jarod has with this ability has been out of his mother’s sight.
Jarod is a growing boy. The more he uses and/or pushes his shifting and pyrokinetic abilities, the more tired he will be. Usually this is remedied with sleep and food.
Likely due to being half shapeshifter, or perhaps because of his people-watching pastime, Jarod is an impressive actor for his age.

Appearance: When in his own "original" form, Jarod's appearance is human. He is fair-skinned and wears a mop of pale, colorless hair. His eyes too are a pale, milky grey.

Clothes Wear: Like his mother he prefers to wear whatever is comfortable and convenient, but will wear anything if necessary.

Quirks: Jarod tends to inadvertently pick up quirks and other small behaviors from anyone he's spent enough time around. He also picks up on things like accents, speech patterns, etc. It can be annoying or amusing for him and whoever he's picked it up from.
Jarod often smells his food and drink before consuming it, and prefers not to put anything in his mouth that he has not looked at first.

Bio: Jarod is son to Loki, a shapeshifter. His father, a werewolf, disappeared before he was born. He does not harbor negative feelings toward his absent father, as his mother has always spoken well of him, but the uncertainty of such a situation will have its effects on a child. He has been under his mother's care, and they have managed to maintain a good relationship. As far as he can remember, they’ve never stayed anywhere longer than a few months.

Destroyers

Agrona: Demon of the Sea

Player: Siaya Dragalorn

Character Name: Agrona

Race: Sea Demon

Gender: Female

Appeared Age: 20

Actual Age: Older than dirt.

Allegiance: Leader and creator of the Army of Destroyers

Weapons: She will choose whatever weapon suits the situation, for— thanks to a small tattoo on her lower back—she can choose any weapon (excluding guns of any kind) to use. Any weapon she chooses each have the same spell upon them; a spell that would allow them to kill her brother, Chaim, once and for all. Just for good measure, she also keeps a sword made by her hand around her waist.

Personality: As cold as an icy sea, Agrona is sly and cunning. She should be fully trusted by no one, though her followers tend to do just that.
Powers: Of these she has quite a few, though I shall list only a couple. She has control over the sea and any other body of water along with the element; telepathy; appearance morphing.

Appearance: No picture could match this woman. Her lush, seaweed green hair falls just past her thin shoulders, her cold, sea-green eyes holding deep, evil knowledge of the ancient times. Her skin is pale from years of being locked away, her body perfectly slim and a face that could draw in any unsuspecting man… until she smiles, revealing her white, shark-like teeth.

Clothes Wear: Under normal circumstances, Agrona is oft seen in a shimmering, deep green, flowing dress that conceals her usually bear feet, it’s three-quarter sleeves allowing her many bracelets to be seen. Around her waist is wrapped a black cord upon which the blue sheath of her sword hangs. About her neck and ears one can find a necklace with matching earrings.

Bio: Since the dawn of creation, Agrona has loathed humans. She had wondered the earth for eons, destroying as many of the fowl creatures as she could before her twin brother, Chaim, stopped her. A few thousand years past, when she first began to create her Army of Destroyers to fight against the Army her brother had gathered against her, Chaim found a way to lock his sister up for what he hoped to be forever. Underestimating the demon’s powers, Agrona soon broke free, setting off with vengeance to kill any who aided in her imprisonment and finish the job she had begun so long ago.

Other: Her aura is enough to drive anyone good away from her. It reeks of foreboding evil and death; hatred and malice. Her scent is that of an icy sea; sweet yet bitter enough to make one’s nose hairs prickle. It is the smell of danger, of fear, of lifeless breaths, of rotting skeletons of fallen sailors resting a thousand leagues beneath the sea.

Neutrals:

Willow Kisaragi Reaper
Commonly Known as Ms. Reaper
User Image
Player: Rikku Wood

Race: An experiment created by Death himself.

Gender: Female

Appeared Age: 21

Actual Age: Even she doesn't remember.

Allegiance: Neutral. She fights purely to find and protect her younger sister, although she often seems to get dragged into other peoples problems. Much to her irritation.

Weapons: A Death Scythe (currently unpowered). A grand total of 6ft in height, and the blade itself is a little over 3 and a half. However, she can also use a variety of other weapons, as well as using hand to hand combat. Being a contortionist helps her greatly in this, though her style in hand to hand seems to resemble that of a brawler. lcon

Personality: Willow is a world renown, dead inside, heartless, couldn't be less bothered, pain in the butt. She has little if no Regard for human life or emotions, much preferring to talk to people in the opposing situation (dead). She can be caring and protective. However, this (more often than not) comes across through violence. Willow tends to keep to herself most of the time but is always up for a fight if someone offers. Elegant and gracious in her fighting style as well as in everything else, she speaks very well but not quite poshly, as her very slight French accent adds a slight commonness to some of the things she says.

Powers: Willow has complete control over shadows, to the extent of actually using them much in the same way as one would control water. She can move and shape it to her will and harden it like steel. Of course, there are limits to this power; for one, she needs shadows to be able to use it and the size of the shadow limits how many or how far she can stretch them. She also has a number of spells known as 'Reaper arts.' For her, these tend to be defensive or trap based. However, these Reaper arts drain her considerably of her energy and can often harm her. She also has a number of circus and musical based skills)

Appearance: A little over 6ft tall and with a slim build, Willow always manages to look beautiful and elegant--an occurrence that seems to come naturally to her.

Clothes Wear: Willow wears a long red scarf at all times. It seems to stay on constantly even though it is slung only around her neck once so that one end falls behind her and the other to the front. She also has numerous little silver, gothic style chains and jewelry on her person, made from the material as her weapon. Her hair is also considerably longer and she usually wears a girl's school uniform.

Quirks: She seems to always be brushing back the same strand of hair that forever falls over her left eye, although this does not disturb her sight. She also has a great love for all things neat and tidy. This is shown in her own appearance, which is always pristine. She also tends to read a lot. She has a schoolgirl uniform fetish along with a deep respect for books, something she is always seen reading.

Bio: Unlike other humans, Willow was not born of a mother and father. No, she was created from an unclean soul by Death himself. However, upon creating her, the unclean soul released its power, nearly destroying the world of the dead.
Fearing for the safety of his beloved souls, Death discarded her on earth in a human body and sealed the power within.
Many years have passed since that day, and now that power has began to unseal, granting her access to the 'Reaper arts,' but they come at a heavy cost.
Willow had grown up as part of a traveling circus with her "father" after being abandoned by her "mother," it was a peaceful if busy life, but she had always wanted something just a little more exciting. This feeling grew inside her, so much so that it soon became her dream to go out and explore the world on her own.
So, five years after sneaking away, she joined a group of young adventurers for a while, learning the art of combat and self-protection among other skills. However, on their last journey, a large boulder had blocked them off from each other and they agreed to meet up at the exit. The bodies of her companions washed up on the shore of a nearby beach several days later, finally breaking Willow of her morality.
Now, in an attempt to find her long lost sister, she readies her equipment, and sets off once more.

Other: If any brave enough approach Willow with flirtatious intentions, they should be prepared for a rather violent reaction. This seems rather odd as she often has a surprising flirtations attitude, though this may be blamed on her naturally sensual tone of voice. Another way to get a touch more violence coming your way would be to insult or harm her younger sister, Erico, though this may be something you never fully recover from, if you manage to survive at all.

Plushy
User Image
Player: me know it all

Race: Dragon

Gender: Male

Appeared Age: 24

Actual Age: 2,734

Allegiance: neutral, but will most likely join Army of Defenders.

Weapons: his long tail.

Personality: nice, playful, fun, happy, acts childish sometimes

Powers: fire breath, can vomit fire balls, can fly.
> Teleportation. Limit: once every twenty-four hours, 30 mile limit and to his home town. He can take others with him, but only when they are riding atop his back.
> Shrinking Spell: Can shrink himself down to two-foot body length with a nine-foot tail, and three feet from ground to head. He can also cause others to shrink to half their normal size.

Major Strengths and Weaknesses: Plushy is fire proof, can swim in lava. Plushy knows how humans work, and love to help them.
Plushy is slow to recognize bad humans, is easy to trick. Plushy can't eat humans, his stomach has done much to adapt to normal food and can't handle man anymore. (give him big crippling stomachache, could kill him.)

Quirks: will turn you in to ashes if you make him unhappy.

Bio: Plushy eat banana, "BANANA!" It was not good. "The kid plays with his food too much." his dad said. "He play with the human like its a house pet, he treats it like a house pet, feeds it like a house pet, you think he thought we got him a house pet instead of a happy meal. And now this." he said looking out the window. "Eating bananas with it, O the shame!" He couldn't see this as his child. Letting his food play with him, bouncing on his belly, playing with his tail, riding on his back, and taking care of it. Did he ever think to put the human in his mouth? NO! He walked outside and brought them in, "Its time to eat dinner, and you still haven't finished your lunch." He ran to the table and set his food in the chair beside him. "What are we having?" his child asked. "We are eating normal food like everyone else" he answered. "BANANAS!" his child shouted in a happy voice. "Dragons do NOT eat bananas! Dragons eat humans!" he yelled at the kid. He pick up Belly and slit his neck. He breathed fire on him, and cooked him. "There, eat!" he said putting Belly in front of his child. "Belly? What’s wrong? Why are you not moving? Belly?" There was something wrong with Belly, even in his sleep he wasn't this still. "Its food!" his daddy yell. "Do I have to chop it up into bite sized pieces for you?" He put out his claws and began cutting Belly, opening up his insides and making bare his bones. "Look at this, mussels, organs, fat, and flesh." he said tarring the human to pieces, cutting it with his claws. "Its good food. Why won't you eat it?" The child burst into tears. "Waaaaaaaa" The kid was so humiliating, he folded his arms and placed flowers on his open chest. "Good bye Belly." he said weeping, crying over his food. "Eat your dinner!" dad yelled, but it was no use. He had to get through to him, punish him. "His naming day was coming up, that would work. I attempt to give him a name of shame. Then he will listen to me, when I give him a good name." daddy said. The naming day came, he took his child to the ring of doom, where all the dragons get their name. He set the kid inside the ring to be named. "I will call him Plushy" he said to the recording dragon. No dragon would want to be named Plushy, meaning soft and squishy. He sat with a smile on his face, as he waited for his child to beg him to pick another name. "Plushy!" his child jumped with joy. "Plushy Plushy Plushy Plushy Plushy Plushy Plushy!" He had jumped out of the ring and run away happy. "NOOOOO!" cried the daddy, his kid had left the ring. He watched in horror as the name Plushy was burned into the stone. That backfired messy, what had he done to his child, he ruined himself. He couldn't have a kid named Plushy. He went home sad. "Honey, we have to give the kid up for adoption. The plan went wrong, so wrong... he just took the name Plushy and is happy about it." So he put the tag on the kid and sent him away. It reads {my name is Plushy}. Plushy lives on the streets, looking for dragons who would take care of him. he follow them back to their house, and then they send him away.

Other: Plushy loves humans as friends, not food. He likes to give people hugs, have them ride on his back, and let their kids bounce on his belly.

Important NPCs

While these guys don't have an actual character profile, they are vital to the story. These NPCs are just shy of being actual PC and cannot be controlled by someone other than their creator unless permission is given.

The Differences between these guys and PCs:
1) I won't get on your case if you don't post for them for a long while so long as they are not interacting with other characters. If they ARE interacting with others and their lack of post would hold players back, then simple adjustments and assumptions can be made so the actual PCs can carry on in the NPCs absence.
2) They don't need full character sheets. Just basic information so it can be looked at when they're mentioned if a reminder of their appearance and stats is needed. Information you reveal through the RP should (and will) also be added. However, it could be helpful for you to fill it out a bit more.
3) I don't have to accept them, but I can eliminate or redirect them. Don't worry; I'll only do that if they turn into pointless trolls or end up being more of a hindrance than help in forming the overall roleplay. So hopefully, never.

The Peacekeepers

Since Chaim granted them their abilities and titles, Peacekeepers have been around to uphold the law. Made up by different beings--both human and creature alike--the very first of their kind were hand chosen by Chaim and granted special abilities that could be handed from one generation to the next, abilities to help them fight those who wished to harm humans. Though most of the race are born into the duty, there are yet a few who, even now, have been specially chosen by Chaim or found themselves drawn to the Peacekeepers in such a way their fate can only be completed as one of these Defenders.

As time wore on and generations came and went, the loyalty of some of the Peacekeepers began to dwindle. As their humanity fell, so to did their abilities. While the most dutiful are granted such powers as the ability to stop time for humans within a city and confine any 'magical' creatures within the same bounds, the less faithful find themselves with only the capability of discerning the good from the evil with no more than a glance.

To keep their true identity hidden from the creatures they fight, Peacekeepers often place a mask over their face before walking into a battle or the like. However, not all stick to this tradition and sometimes, there just isn't the time to use it.

Groupies: Most travel in groups of three to ten, some traveling as families, some as friends, and others in a mix of both. Within each group, there is always one who takes the leadership position, leading the group from one town to the next, all ears and eyes kept open for a slight glimpse or whisper of any odd sightings or deaths. Commonly, each member will hold their own special talent with which to contribute.

The leaders of the groups are required to check in with either Chaim or Jairon (Chaim's second-in-command) upon occasion with a report of how many remain within their band of friends and/or family along with how many "disturbances" they have taken care of.

Freelancers: Though less common, a few Peacekeepers decide to go their own way, traveling from city to city, continent to continent alone. Being their own leader, they are still required to report to Chaim or Jairon.

The Corrupt

Though made and bread to serve for the good and protect the humans, some Peacekeepers choose to stray from the path. Turning away from their reason for living, their hatred and detest begin to consume them, eating away at what love and humanity still lies within them until only a shadow of who they once were remains.

A slave to their hungers and desires, their only love is watching the pains of others and causing anguish to humans and anyone who protects them. Lacking their own, these creatures must feed on the vitality of other beings, else risk becoming nothing more than the stray, inexplicable shadow that creeps across a child's closet door in the dead of night; beings with no mind, body, or will.

Along with a new form--each Corrupt displaying their own shadowy shape--the Corrupt finds itself with a new name, a name he or she just knows is what to call his/herself. Soon, their old name will fade into nothing more than a faint whisper from another life not their own until, at long last, even that shred of humanity is extracted from them.

The Corrupt are usually drawn to Agrona, the aura and power she gives off calling to them like a beacon of light from a lighthouse on a stormy night to a wayward ship out at sea.

One final thing to note is that not every Corrupt was once a Peacekeeper, though that is the most common past race. Anyone of any race who has fallen so far from love and humanity, and who have come to Agrona, can be turned into a Corrupt.

Powers: Being a shadow themselves, the Corrupt are capable of traveling through and manipulating other, non-sentient shadows. As well, they are capable of taking on a solid, human form. Sometimes it will resemble how they once looked, others this form will be as different as night is from day. Yet, despite that difference, the Corrupt always feel that that is how they should look.

With each human form, however, there is always one deformity that sets them apart. It can be anything from a missing eye to half a mangled body

Lorathin Korgel

Sorry, no image for this guy. Having been bound to a single dead body, he is forced to possess a rotting corpse. Despite his extreme age, he has managed to maintain a good majority of his skin through various enchantments. The skin has torn from half of his once-handsome face, an eerie green glow emanating from the empty eye socket. Same issue with his arms, the left lacking everything but bone, and various other areas of his body. Occasionally, skin will tend to fall from him, and only his possession keeps the body moving and together. He usually keeps his skeleton portions hidden as well as he can, hating that he's lost a majority of his "handsome" appearance, but relishing the effect his undead appearance has on others.

Important Places

Templum (Defender's HQ)

Templum is located deep beneath the ground, keeping it hidden from any Destroyers on the search for it. The entrances, located in and spread throughout the northern islands, are heavily guarded with magic and creatures to turn away any stray humans or unwelcome beasts.

Templum, Latin for Sanctuary, was built from Chaim’s magic and grows to always accommodate the multitude of Defenders living within the city. The aura about it speaks of safety, kindness, and life. The inhabitants of the light town each have one thing in common; the determination to keep the humans from becoming obsolete.

Lining the marble roads are well-kept lanterns made from fine stone with orbs of light floating just above the open top, the magic whispering softly of ancient times before creatures defied the Rule of the Creatures. The buildings are placed together with uncanny precision, each built to last, while in the center of the town rests a large fountain filled with the water of the sea, the entrance carefully guarded by sea creatures. Above, a large statue of an angel looks down upon the square, its caring eyes seeming to follow the steps of those walking below. From about her long dress, water cascades down into the fountain while the air is filled with the scent of the calm sea before wafting through the rest of the vast city. The base of the fountain connects to the sea and is made large enough a couple ships to dock around it.

Near the back of the city lies Chaim’s small palace. Ivy has grown up the light-colored walls, adding a sense of mystery about the place. A garden grows in front of the doors, the plants welcoming any passing by to stop in for a rest. Statues of animals such as tigers, bears, and the like can be found in and around the building. The inside is open and airy with more rooms than what it looks to fit, housing not only Chaim, but also a few of his best and closest fighters. Among the rooms are his and the quarters of those residing there, a large library, meeting/conference room, armory, and a storage room.

Behind his palace is a battle arena where many of those within his Army train with one another. The arena is a slap of enchanted marble with five stone lions that watch the battles closely, while a barrier keeps any misplaced attacks from reaching any onlookers.

Further HQ Descriptions from RP: Karinda gaped at the sight before her. Standing on a ledge a hair’s breadth large enough to allow two horses to walk side-by-side, a city gazed up at her from far below within the precipice created by the surrounding walls. Even from their height, the city looked large, some if its buildings built in the old ways while some looked as strange as a pig with five legs. A castle stood near the far end of the magnificent city, its towers reaching up over the other buildings.

Three massive staircases carved into the circular wall spiraled up the rock wall until they ended at large, intricately carved doors far above. Connected to the staircases, other ledges similar to the one upon which she and Lael stood connected to the large sets of stairs, their presence lying great in numbers. Following the nearest white-fence-lined staircases with her eyes, Karinda found its end near the back of the castle, while the others ended an equal distance away from one another. Looking to the other side, she saw the door through which she had so easy strode had been fitted into the back of a second of the staircases.~Siaya Dragalorn/Love Thy Words

The city seemed to illuminate, for it had its own source for light, making the travel down the steps easier. ~Shadowing Death

Approaching a gate outside of the city to find a person await them on their side, holding a pad of paper and a pen.... ~Shadowing Death

Exitium (Destroyer's HQ)

Exitium, the underground city doubling as the destroyer’s headquarters, is located many miles beneath the surface of the earth where it cannot be easily found by most creatures, let alone those putrid animals known as humans. Entrances and exits to Exitium can be found spread throughout the uninhabited Southern islands, though they are well hidden and guarded by both monsters and spells.

The city itself is grand enough to house the many hundreds of thousands following Agrona and her cause. Exitium, Latin for “destruction”, speaks of both death and despair. The inhabitants of the dark town all seem to have a deep wickedness in their eyes and motions, each very different yet just alike in their cause. Lining the fine cobblestone roads are lanterns made from the bones of both opposing creatures and humans, the flames flickering as if in laughter at its confinements. Skeletons can be seen in the walls of a few of the buildings and, in the center of the town, stands a gigantic onyx fountain with a skeleton running a human through with bodies of the fallen resting around them. Water tinted red falls from the mouth of the human and a few of the bodies. The bottom of the fountain houses water from the sea and is large enough for at least two ships to dock in.

Above the town is a network of pathways and buildings where those creatures with wings can live and fly freely. An entrance for these said creatures can be found towards the top of the city, any light blocked by its large, closed hatch.

At the far end of the city rests Agrona’s palace. Made for comfort in the form of a castle, the stones are laden with damp moss, the stones of a dark material. The magically grown grass—stained with blood from the many ‘practice’ battles that had commenced—is strewn with many small, gothic fountains and statues, most portraying the mutilation of humans.

Indoors, many corridors and halls can be found, their walls of stone and a few of the halls carpeted with blood red carpeting. The rooms are many, including the quarters for her servants, guests, and those of her strongest and bravest warriors and magicians, each of these rooms changing to the tastes of those inhabiting them; a magnificent library, great hall and meeting/conference room; weapon storage room, dungeons, and of course Agrona’s chambers.

Located behind the castle is a fighting arena; a slab of enchanted marble with a large circle drown in its center. Around it rests a few benches of both wood and stone, all protected from harm by those fighting by an invisible magic barrier.

Further HQ Descriptions from RP: Agrona paused, casting her gaze about the arena extending before her. Six gray, stone cobra heads rose up around a large marble slab set into the ground, their cold eyes cast to the arena to which they marked the boundaries. ~Siaya Dragalorn

...she looked around the large square in the center of her renewed hidden city. The gray stones of the cobbled area shone like new, the flames flickering in their caged lampposts whispering of death and darkness as they cast playful shadows against the many restored wooden buildings.

Her eyes fell to the pride and joy of the square; the dock. Stairs and ramps were placed to ease the passage to the four-foot tall, mile wide mile barrier trapping the oceanic waters contained within. The flat, two foot thick walls turned to lines of wooden docks where boats with the right abilities to traverse beneath the water could anchor.

From her vantage point, Agrona could see the forms of a few dark merfolk playing in the water, the sounds of their splashing fins lost between the distance from Agrona’s rooftop and the water. She shifted her gaze to the vast statue sitting in the water’s center. An obsidian skeleton stood atop a mass of dead humans, a long sword driving through its last victim’s body. Water tinged red flowed from the human’s wounds and fell from the surrounding bodies, cascading into the ocean where the coloring disappeared. ~Siaya Dragalorn

Vaiport (The Defender’s Town)
User Image

Location and Population

Banked closely on one side by a body of water, the town of Vaiport is located about a hundred miles from one of the entrances to the Defender’s HQ. Originally founded by Chaim for the sake of those who wished to reside above ground, the town grew from being a home for just supernaturals, to being one of the only towns in existence where humans and supernaturals lived together, each aware of the other. Even with it so close to the HQ, Chaim tends to avoid frequenting it to keep from arousing suspicion of the nearby entrance. As well, unlike what one may expect, Peacekeepers are scarce in the town. Not unheard of, by any means, but they usually only visit when passing through, or if they are summoned by those in the town.

One of those towns just a little too large for most of the humans to know everyone, the people here range from nearly any species, from were-creatures to elementals, and everything in between and beyond, while humans intermingle with each species. They work alongside each other, and go about their lives normally, only the supernaturals needn’t worry about revealing themselves to the denizens of Vairport.

With the town mostly isolated from the rest of the population, it is rare for an outside human to wonder in. But it does happen. When a human who is not a citizen of the town enters the town’s borders, the magic surrounding it senses it and sends a ripple effect along the dome it creates, which makes the sky appear to pulsate in the eye of the townsfolk, warning them to be on their best behavior and not let on about the existence of supernaturals.

Government and Law Enforcement

General:Though the town is run by supernaturals who are members of the Defender’s army, and has a psychic mayor, the police department consists of a mix of supernaturals and humans. Each have their own departments, and handle the crimes according to the apparent offenders. Here, the police uphold the standard law as well as those set specifically to keep the humans safe from supernaturals, and even have their own prison located on the edge of town which is structurally and magically reinforced for its human and supernatural inhabitants.
However, the supernaturals of the police force are not the strongest, and usually only handle more domestic cases. For the larger issue of the town’s overall safety, and for when a “bad cookie” slips through the cracks and begins to wreak havoc, they have a greater organization lesser-known by the human population.

The Otinuom: Vaiport’s greatest defense against crimes and Destroyers is the organization who go by the name Otinuom (pronounced oh-tin-u-um). Though not officially Peacekeepers, those apart of this group are the strongest, oldest, and/or the wisest supernaturals in the town. Together, alongside the mayor, they have created defenses for the town that far exceed anything the police force could accomplish. This group has been around since the creation of the town, the members changing as time wore on. Now led by the sibling librarians, Vanessa and Rodger, everyone in the group have pledged their lives to protect the town and its occupants. They wear no uniforms, nor do they usually divulge the information of their involvement. The Order of the Otinuom consists of hundreds of the citizens working and schooling throughout the town, indistinguishable from the others save for by their power, strength, and/or cunning. If a fight becomes beyond what the local authorities are capable of handling, chances are at the very least one of the Otinuom will be there in a flash to help. It is also their job to be wary about any new supernaturals, and to keep an eye open for any trouble that may arise. It is they who either banish or eliminate any troublemakers or Destroyers who cross into Vaiport’s boarders.

Magic Defenses

The Town Borders—The Dome Set up by the strongest spell-casters of the Otinuom, the dome of magic that encompasses the town keeps any sky-born supernaturals hidden from outside, much like a two-way mirror. With another level of magic, it also registers when someone teleports in or out, informing the Otinuom caster of the frequency of the teleporterts, as well as the distinctions between the various signatures of the teleporters themselves. When it comes to the locals, the caster is capable of telling who has teleported in or out, while the signatures of newcomers are foreign and even similar to each other at first. This ability, however, is limited to only when someone enters or exits the town’s borders and their exact teleported location is usually impossible to pinpoint. Then, there are always those who manage to avoid detection altogether.

The magic of the dome, which is always invisible unless it senses an intruder and also works even beneath the body of water beside it, is also strong enough to keep out all but the strongest of the Corrupt. Even when the stronger Corrupt enter, it is detected and the denizens of Vaiport warned. However, besides the Corrupt, it does not keep any others out unless one of those maintaining it puts forth the strenuous effort of placing a ban on a particular individual. The success of such a ban, though, is never guaranteed.

Inside the Town--Buildings: While many of the homes and high-rises are protected by magic which also aids in keeping the buildings from being destroyed in the many severe storms their location throws at them, there are a select few buildings that are designed specifically for protection against an attack. Among these are City Hall, the Mullaham Museum, Triton Tower, and the Clairion Library. Of these four, the library has the greatest fortification.

Inside the Town—The Tunnels: Beneath the city, tunnels weave their way between plumbing, sewers, and electrical lines. The location to the various entrances to these tunnels are currently known only to the Otinuom. The tunnels link directly to the four most fortified places, and the protection on the all the entrances—both above and below ground—are just as well protected as the buildings themselves, if not better. Like with the dome, whenever someone enters the tunnels, a ripple effect goes out to those who have cast the protective magic, informing that individual(s) of the entrance's use.

The Clairion Library

The Basics

One of the few buildings as old as the town itself, the library has been remodeled many times through the years to keep it up to code. The building has been passed from generation to generation in the Clairion family, until it has come into the ownership of Vanessa and Rodger.

The Outside

The Front: It is a five-story, ancient-looking brick building with dark iron accents. It has a large, double arched doorway, the stairs leading up to it guarded by two lifelike stone winged lions guarding it. Other stone creatures, from gargoyles to gryphons, keep careful watch over the library from their various, seemingly decorative perches atop it. Tall windows with arched tops adorn each of the floors of this Gothic-style building, a few made from stained glass.

The Back: With a significantly wide space behind it, the back is only slightly less grand than the front. A few more stone creatures hang around the roof and in any other cracks and crevices that they can, keeping guard of the back just as vigilantly as those in the front. While windows behind the building resemble those of the front, on the top floor, two modern-looking windows expands about two yards in width, and just under that in height each. Neither windows can be opened from the outside, and are basically shatter-proof. A column of red bricks separates them, which serves as a chimney. The backdoor is created from heavy wood crossed with iron, and is always kept locked and usually sealed by magic when it is not intended to be used.

The Inside

Entrance: When you first walk in, the decadent wood paneling creates an intricate design of gold squares and triangles. Though none of the floorboards squeak, footsteps are prone to echo in the domed space beyond the front doors. The dome is painted with hundreds of scenes from books of all genres all merged into a seamless, vivid painting. Lights surround the edges of the dome, casting their soft light on the painting as well as lighting the space below.

In the circular space beneath the dome, only a single, grand curved reception desk sits, its surface often cluttered with papers and newly returned or yet-to-be-shelved books. A tall, high-backed chair rigged with wheels waits behind the desk, though is often occupied by one of the two librarians who somehow manage the library with only a little volunteer help.
Where the dome ends and a normal, slightly lower ceiling begins, floor-to-ceiling bookcases spread out like a maze in all but a small section behind the librarian’s desk, where a section is squared off to allow room for an elevator.

The First Four Floors: Rows upon rows of books, all expertly categorized and cataloged, take up most of the space on all the floors. There is a smaller desk on each where any inside can call for assistance if needed, and various reading nooks are placed through the maze of shelves. Ladders line the walls where the shelves reach beyond the average reach, and a few step stools can be found spread seemingly randomly to assist any shorter patrons in the retrieval of books on higher shelves. There are also shatter-resistant glass cases in the main area of each floor where they showcase a different, arcane book each month. As to date, none have ever gone missing, though many have tried to break into the cases and steal them.
While any are welcome to the first three floors, the fourth floor is reserved for supernaturals only, and is accessible only when accompanied by one of the librarians.

The Fifth Floor: This floor is accessible only by means of a narrow stairway in a back room, at the end of which is a door that can only be opened by the right key. This floor consists of the grand apartment where the librarians live. It has room enough for six decent sized bedrooms, each with their own theme and color scheme, two full bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, and dining room. The living room is the first room one walks into. A one-drawered stand sits beside the door, with a basket on top that is often filled with letters and other miscellaneous—that is, when it’s not overcome with more books. The living room itself has lush, off-white carpeting, and a matching couch keeps its back facing the door with an armchair angled beside it. In front of the couch is a simple coffee table, beyond which is a simple fireplace. Around the fireplace, the carpeting turns into marble with a set of fire tools sitting beside the brick that replaces the surrounding drywall. The windows visible from outside flank the fireplace, and have been enchanted to withstand nearly any force. On the right-hand wall, two open archways lead into the kitchen with its black and white tiles and the dining room where a small chandelier hangs above a heavy, oaken table with enough space and chairs to seat eight.

The Back Office: Though a large room, it is cluttered with books and boxes to the point of being cramped. There are at least two desks buried beneath the piles of stuff, but, despite the mess, the librarians can always find what they need right when they need it. Located on the first floor, the back door is also located here.

The Basement: Yes, it has a hidden basement that connects to the underground network of passages that make their way through the city, linking key buildings to allow a quick, secret getaway or entrance. The entrances into this underground area are just as well protected as those above round, if not more so. This space is used either in emergencies, or as use for the meetings of the Otinuom.

Inner Workings & Defense

Because of its frequent use as a meeting place for the Otinuom, this building is geared to have the greatest fortification. While it seems normal enough on a daily basis, the building itself has so many enchantments placed on it that it has become sentient, though it usually only ‘communicates’ with the librarians. All the statues around the building have the ability of coming to life if it finds itself threatened, and layers upon layers of magic-based protection spreads over the building like a thin, yet powerful shell. Each level of the library is enforced with its own amount and type of defenses. Though there are those with the ability to manage to slip beyond this, the library usually knows exactly how many people reside in it at any given point in time and where to find them. The librarians use hidden panels placed throughout the library to check various aspects, including the usually constant temperature of both the library and the display cases, how many people are or remain in the library, and the lighting, as well as keep track of any disturbances inside or outside, and monitor the stability of the defenses when they arise. These monitors normally only work for the librarians.

Agrona snarled, pulling again at the dark binds wrapped about her wrists and and ankles.

If I ever get out of here, Chaim... she thought darkly, letting the threat die away as the hatred rose within her. Pausing in her struggles, she closed her eyes and let her hands fall to her side. WHEN I get out of here.

She took a deep breath, allowing her powers to flow through her as she gathered her strengths for another attack against her binds and the magic walls around her.

With a burst of energy, the sparks of the green wall around her dimmed.

Finally! She smiled wickedly. It's working.

Karinda fell to her hands and knees, gasping for breath. Her face twisted in a snarl as she rose quickly and drew her sword, holding it in front of her in defense as she scanned the surrounding woods for her attacker.

“Where art thou, filthy pig?” she shouted, her voice dripping with an Old English accent.

Karinda, the soft voice echoed in her mind as Saiirin climbed onto Karinda’s shoulder. This is not the same forest from whence we began our travels.

Karinda’s eyes widened as she took in the surroundings. The trees looked older than she remembered, and the season was wrong… It had been fall, hadn’t it?

“N-nay,” she stuttered quietly. She moved to a tree and placed her hand upon its rough bark, tracing a faint gouge with her finger. “’Tis the same, only greatly aged.” She took a shuddered breath. “What has happened, Saiirin?”

My wisdom seems to be just as vast as yours on the matter. The dragon readjusted herself.

“W-what became of the sorcerer?” She sheathed her sword.

The dragon shook her head in dismal uncertainty. T’was no sorcerer, I fear, but something of greater power. T’would be wise to keep your weapon ready. We’ve no knowledge of what to expect here.

Lael was returning to Templum. It had been a long time since she had been here now and she felt weaker than ever. The last creature she had battled had almost won. Careful plotting on her part - backup plan upon backup plan - had been the only thing to save her this time. Not her gift. Not her well practiced skills with her weapons.

It scared her a little. Death. She traced a finger over a minor scratch on her hand, the only reminder of how close she had been to losing her life this time.
"You can't leave until you find someone." She told herself.
Someone to hide behind. Someone to help with every ounce of her gift. Someone willing to fight alongside her. Hopefully, someone she could trust to understand her weaknesses and strengths. But it was her own unwillingness to let down her guard around others that caused them to shy away. And if they did just happen to catch a glimpse of who she was, she would run just as fast as those that thought she was naught more than a mortal caught in the battle.

This time, she told herself, this time she would partner up with whomsoever was willing, whether she trusted them straight away or not. Trust and friendship, that would come over time. If not, she would retreat to this place an start again.

Karinda nodded in agreement, pulling Aleron once more from its sheath, her muscles tense.

"I wonder when--" her words fell short as the sound of feet on the forest floor reached her ears. Crouching low, she followed the sound with trained, silent steps.

Saiirin grew to her full foot in length, her teeth bared and legs bent in preparation for jumping from her perch.

Pushing aside a branch of a bush with her sword, Karinda gazed upon the winged girl no more than a yard from her. Pausing a moment in debate, she moved to stand.

Karinda! the dragon scolded. Only fools throw caution to the wind!

"If we are to know into what era we have entered," she whispered, "Our greatest option stands to be facing a being from this time."

Ignoring the silver dragon's irritated snort, she stood and moved behind the blue-haired girl, staying a sword strike's distance away.

"Pray, pardon me," she said to the girl, her grip never loosening upon Aleron's hilt.

Lael

Lael spun to strange words and looked straight into the most startling blue eyes. The second thing to occur to Lael was the weapon. The woman didn't appear to have an overt want to use it, so that made the situation a little better, but Lael took a slight step back all the same. Finally, the last thing she noticed about this older girl was how beautiful she was. Lael was almost instantly envious. Her own appearance always seemed to come across as innocent, young, nieve.

"Hello." Lael said, uncertain.
Had the woman said something about praying?

Dontee walks down the sidewalk with his hands hidden away in his pocket and his katana resting on his right side. He walks and looks forward as any normal human would, to blend in greater as he thought to himself... being in his human form.

"... I continually wonder about the human race... no matter how much I know, there is still some smaller things that I can't figure out... like why it is they prefer to argue over land or why their women is considered the less dominate sex, though they secretly run the relationships... but I may not figure these out until the end of my lifespan..." He thought before stopping for the cross walk.

He looks and waits for the symbol to change, as he continues to think to himself. "... The cities always seem the best place to look for information on the typical human... although the humans outside cities may seem nicer or interesting in general, there are a lack of them..."

The crosswalk changes to a symbol of a man walking and Dontee begins down the walk, but the impatient driver wasn't willing to wait as he drives quickly to barely rush around Dontee. Dontee watched the man's firebird as it drove off and read his license plate that read 'powking'. Dontee took out a pen and notepad from his inside jacket's pocket to write the license plate down before putting it away and continuing to walk across the street and sits down on a bench once at the other side.

"... That was close... I wonder how much of a record that man will have once I go to see it at the police station." He thought sitting back on the bench rubbing his temples some with his eyes closed. He felt it would be more wise to calm down a bit first before continuing forward, seeing as the car a moment ago was inches from hitting him... which would either harm him or cause him to be revealed to be something more than human, he wasn't sure... either way, he wouldn't like to be hit by a car.

Alexander walks through a thick brush of a forest, a rather large sword mounted on his back as he calmly walks, glancing around as to take in the surrounding forest. "... Right, there's bound to be something on this island... some form of life... and I wouldn't doubt that there isn't a dragon around... a secluded island like this, with such life..." He thought as he walks. He then stops walking, having something causing his leg to trip up slightly. He looks down to see there is in fact a footprint. He nods, looking at it. "... Dragon..." He looks up as if to question where the beast that had left the footprint had gone to.

He had thought to come to this specific island after having traveled to several other similar islands, knowing that one of them was bond to hold a dragon on one... and how right he was.

He refrains from drawing his sword or worrying of killing the dragon yet, oh no... he waits to find it... and maybe even wait till it sleeps and kill it in it's sleep... in any case, drawing his blade may perk the dragon's ear and alert the dragon before he can even prepare to fight him... it'd make him a dead man, that's the trouble with the 'noob' Dragon Slayers... they worry and get themselves killed... No... the best draw their swords at the last moment possible.

After a moment of looking around, he could tell that the dragon wasn't around... but he knew that the island was one in which the dragon at least visited often, for he could spot signs of more places the dragon has been as he walked... so eventually he knew he'd find the dragon if he was to stay on the island, so he proceeds to wonder the area, wanting to scout out the island as to try to get familiar with it and possibly just wait it out for months on the island... feeling he must slay the dragon.

Karinda took in the girl's appearance, her clothes strange to the immortal's eyes. A growl emanated form Saiirin's throat, her lean body swaying almost menacingly.

"Good day, dear woman," she said slowly, her wariness hidden behind the mask of a light smile. "Mightest thou spare me the knowledge of the year?"

Allowing her to know thou art not from this time so soon? Saiirin's snarling, mental voice broke into Karinda's thoughts. Hath thou--

Karinda shook her shoulder, silencing the spitting dragon as it clung on tightly to keep its perch on Karinda.

"Pay her no heed," Karinda gestured to Saiirin, giving the girl an apologetic smile. "She hast n'er taken well to strangers."

Chaim gazed unseeingly upon the whispering sea, his thoughts overcome with worries. Something felt wrong. Very wrong, but what was the question.

"Chaim." The fearful, echoing whisper of the sea brought the angel's attention to where a face had formed just beneath the water at his feet.

"Yes? Yes, what is it?" he asked, his wings twitching behind him in anticipation.

"We have felt a tremor of power. Your binds are breaking, Chaim. Breaking fast.

"Impossible!" he breathed.

And yet it is happening. The face wavered, moving as a wave swept past. We wish you well, Chaim. With the next wave, the face vanished.

Shadowing Death

Salem was walking down the sidewalk as well, taking drags off of the lit cigarette between her fingers. She was late for something, she felt like, though she had no engagements as she didn't work and she had no friends. Well, that wasn't true. By any other person's standards she had friends, loads of them. Loads of fake, disloyal, self-obsessed so-called friends. But, still, she knew for certain there was no party, or lunch invitation that she had to commit to. But she felt in a rush, as if there were somewhere pressing that she needed to be immediately. That's when, boom, she distractedly bumped into Dontee, dropping her cigarette that was promptly stepped on.

"God dammit," she muttered before reaching into her pocket and pulling out the cigarette carton, she tapped another one out and lit it almost immediately. "Hey, buster, you can't see I'm walking here?" she asked the man around the cigarette clenched between her lips. "You just made me lose my square, far as I'm concerned you owe me another," she said abruptly. She knew that it was her fault. But she decided that he was cute, so she'd pick some way to talk to him.
