That... was really unexpected. When was it exactly had Kyran passed out? There was no recollection of events prior, the sudden impact into the dream realm being most disorienting for the darkrai. Not only was it cause for confusion, but the blackened figure was also unsure of what could have caused such a thing to happen. Weren't darkrais supposed to be the only ones to cause such a thing? Or did they happen across a cresselia? Hmm... was this Kiara's doing or something? None of those possible outcomes seemed to make much sense at all!

The wispy head of the darkrai shook, at a loss. What was it that had happened? Did... did whatever-it-was affect both darkrai? Electric blue eyes scanned the hazy perimeter, "...Kiara?"

Where in the name of Arceus am I? was Kiara’s first thought. Of course she knew where she was, but still, the sudden shock of appearing in the dream realm, without first choosing to was a tad disorientating. Reality seemed to shimmer and shake all around her, the world was a spinning kaleidoscope of color; it was sickening. The bright lights swirled all about. She attempted to will it to stop, to blacken the sky, to stop the sickening swirl of colors, but she couldn’t; she wasn’t in control here. What kind of infernal nightmare is this?

From a distance, she thought she heard Kyran. This is that fool’s doing? Isn’t it? she huffed in a fury, before realizing that it couldn’t have been. Her twin wasn’t capable of this and, even if Kyran had been, the fool would have surely been as sickened by the surroundings as she. No, something else had caused this, but what?

Just then, a pathway seemed to open up in front of her, a slap of darkness in a sea of noxious lights. Seeing no other choice, she set down it. As she walked, the colors seemed more muted, as if behind a thick fog.

Again, Kyran tried to shake its head to jostle memory out of hiding, but the action only proved to give the darkrai a headache. It opted to stay put for the moment as the pain subsided, caused by the rough yank into the more suitable surroundings but without adequate forewarning. Secondly, Kyran grasped at the afterthought, it was better for an individual to stay put when they got separated, wasn't it?

It wasn't until the headache subsided that the darkrai realized the fault in the reasoning, not a moment later. Truth was, Kyran had no idea if Kiara ended up with the same occurrence happening. So the darker of the twins rose back upward from the floor of the realm, spinning around slowly to figure out where the situation led it to.

Digging eyes through the thick fog, it was then that Kyran figured out where it was that the darkrai was being led to. Smirking to itself, it wondered if something was trying to get vengeance over something that one of the twins did. No matter, Kyran wasn't a pushover with strangers, not where its area of expertise came into play. Let's just see who's got the upper hand, shall we?

The path seemed rather long, but it offered adequate enough time to try to remember what happened before the blackout. Kyran mulled it over; there was a light, but it was unclear yet as to what the pulse belonged to. Was it an attack? Was this a self-preservation method, maybe? If the darkrai were able to figure it out, this long pathway would certainly become much shorter to the destination. Such was the way the ethereal plane oftentimes worked, and Kyran was no stranger to such practices.

Vengeance, I will have my vengeance! Whoever would dare trap me in such a way, and in my own realm!? They will pay! Kiara’s gate quickened, her rage was powering her forth, down this dark path. She knew not what had caused it, but she was sure she would find out once she reached wherever this path led. She did not down, for a moment, that it was a trap. She was not worried though, no, whoever would try and trap her would learn the grave mistake of such actions. She was a force of nature; she could not be confined or controlled.

She might not be in control of her surroundings, like normal, but she certainly was able to affect them. Red enveloped her immediate surroundings, as waves of anger flung off of her. Whoever has cursed her to this bright, vibrant hell would pay.

Suddenly though, the path transformed, she was in a tunnel, near home. She still knew that she was in a dream, of course, she couldn’t be fooled so easily. Maybe I am reaching the source of this nightmare? At least it’s darker in here…. Full of fury, she trudged on.

The light... the light... There was something strange about that light. No, it wouldn't have been an attack, for the light was much too faint, and... Kyran glanced up, seeing the familiar projection of the twins' newly-acquired home. "That's right, it wasn't outside, and the cave isn't equipped with any back entrances. It couldn't have been an attack, since nothing sneaked in," the darkrai thought aloud, having a rough time pulling the fractured memories from thought processes. The mind didn't work in the same way asleep as it did while awake, and while Kyran was quite aware of this and learned to adapt long ago, the jolt of the whole scenario left the darkrai with less concentration at its disposal than what would have otherwise been available.

"It was dim, too. It wasn't from anything that we knew of, but..." the dark form froze in front of the memory, staring at the blinking glow of the star between two familiar twins, "...but how did it get there?"

Kyran backed up into the wall, carefully side-stepping out of the way when the characteristic tread of Kiara came into hearing range. The darkrai didn't want to be the immediate object of its twin's wrath, and felt it better if she assessed the situation on her own before Kyran voiced any input.

Kiara burst forth, like a bat out of hell. She was done with this; she would find the answer. They had been in the cave when she had passed out; she remembered this. There had been an impossibly bright light. It had burned. She knew she was at the spot, the spot where it happened, but the area was barren.

Calling forth her memory, she saw her and her twin begin to form. First they appeared as an ethereal mist, and then finally they gained the semblance of a material form. She knew though that however this looked, it was just a memory, and an incomplete one at that. Despite how solid they looked, she could run her hand right through them, if she had wanted. And, no matter how hard she might try, she could not wake the sleeping forms. They were not real; they were just a specter of a memory. The source of her current state, though, was still eluding her. It was bright… so bright… in her mind, it burned brighter than the sun…. a light in the sky…..a star? Was it a star? Unnaturally bright and in the ground? Yes! That was what had caused this. They had stumbled upon some unnatural and impossible star. As if by magic, it then manifested between the two sleeping forms.

As focused as she was on this, she was quite oblivious to her twin’s presence.

Kyran allowed time to pass, for Kiara to take in the scene fully without interruption. Although her attention was focused to a pinpoint degree, her sibling was able to determine when the best opportunity arose, when she was at the lowest point of tenseness over her anger and confusion, before speaking. Arms unfolded from across the blackened darkrai's chest as it pulled itself from the wall, maintaining distance lest Kiara spin too quickly around and do damage. It was the dream realm, sure, and pain wasn't really evident... but Kyran was apt to keep habits in check, in this instance.

"This isn't right. Kiara... was this some sort of malicious maneuver? Sabotage?" it was obvious, more than the darkrai wanted to let on, that Kyran was shaken. The strain to keep its voice calm was noticeable, though to a minor degree. "Nobody was there. They did something to that artifact. It didn't just put us to sleep, did it?" Despite knowing better, questions tumbled out of the darkrai's form without time to grab them.

This was all the further that Kyran could examine the situation, however. Answers would have to wait until they woke up, and that wasn't something that the legendary was looking forward to.

Normally Kiara would be quite annoyed by her twin’s questions. This was one of the rare exceptions. She was just as curious as to what caused it as Kyran. Though, whereas she was full of anger, she was sure that Kyran was more worried. She couldn’t blame the other Darkrai. Kyran didn’t have her fortitude and, whatever had caused this was messing with their control over their realm. It was rather worrisome.

It wasn’t really there, but she still felt the urge to more closely examine the star. Concentrating, she managed to mute its colors, its brightness and get up close to it. As she ran her hand through it, she felt an odd tingling sensation. Whatever it was, it still managed to exist, on some level, here. It should be but the imagining of a memory, but still, it was there. It was most peculiar. She had no time to think about it, though. As she withdrew her hand, a pulse shot out of it.

The two of them were instantly floored, unable to move. Before either could have a chance for a rational thought, they both found themselves ‘falling awake.’ They had no idea what was to lie in store for them, upon returning to consciousness.
