Release Date on Xbox 360: JUNE 26th 2012

Bethesda Softworks has revealed that the first DLC for Skyrim will be called "Dawnguard" in the latest Beth Blog. Besides the name, an image of the Dovahkiin with glowing eyes was included. The DLC is slated for release this Summer on the Xbox 360, with any plans for release on the PC or Playstation 3 still pending due to a previous agreement to release the first two major expansions to the game exclusively on the Xbox 360 for thirty days. Dawnguard originally was brought to public attention when Bethedsa trademarked Dawnguard last February, creating some speculation about what it could be. As of now, there is little to suggest what Dawnguard could be about, with both "Dawn" and "Guard" being common terms throughout the franchise. The next planned release of information relating to the DLC is scheduled for a reveal at E3. Those curious about what Bethesda has planned will have to wait until June 5th at the earliest, the scheduled date for the opening of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo.

~UPDATE~

We knew you couldn’t wait until E3. Neither could we.

Watch the official trailer for Dawnguard, the first game add-on for Skyrim. Dawnguard will be available for download for 1600 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE this summer.

More info next week!

I know there is some BAWWWING going on over at the Beth Blog over the fact that the 360 is going to get this a full 30 days prior to anyone else. New's that we already knew, and it seems some ignored of forgot. But we are going to forget all that nonsense and put our thinking caps on....

You got them on? Okay let's go!

It's time to speculate on what "Dawnguard" could possibly be....

All we really can go on, its the glowing eyes. So our Dova is getting some new cool powers other thank Shouting maybe.

I don't think its going to take place in one of the Planes of Oblivion, as I can't recall Dawnguard being a name for one. For a second I was getting a bit happy...Maybe some more stuff to do with my Lady Azura, since she's the Prince of Dusk and Dawn, but her realm isn't called DG, its Moonshadow.

"My only problem with Xbox DLC is Microsoft points are F-ing atrocious.
I REFUSE to buy Microsoft points, and thus I'll miss out on DLC(unless they release a GOTYE, and I hope they add ALL DLC this time around, yeah, I'm willing to buy an extra copy of a game over buying points(but I'm hoping ot have a new desktop by then anway). I did it with Fable II and Fallout 3).
The exchange rate from dollars to points isn't worth it. (About $25 for 1500 point card, $50 for a 3000 point card. No thankyou. Online purchase isn't any better either.)

Speculation otherwise?
I'm not very good at guessing until I have more information.
I just hope it's something decent.
Give us some worthy DLC, Beth.
Make everyone forget the Horse Armor fiasco, because I'm sick of hearing everyone bring it up.
They made a mistake, they got better, get over it.

OH buddy I agree with you there, and it seems that MS agrees as well. Sometime within the next year MS is doing away with the horrid MS points system. I'm going to assume they'll go to something like iTunes and just charge a set price depending on content of the DLC.

Yea I'm not good at speculation much either, but it give's us something to talk about.

If the DLC is anything like The Shivering Isles then I wont be disappointed.

OH HEY NOW, the Horse Armor was a WONDERFUL addition to the game. XD Beth will never live that down, its a running joke for them now. Hell I think Maqi the Liar even has a line about it.

In Beth's defense DLC was still a new thing during that time and NO ONE knew what to do and what to charge people for it.

"Then I won't be getting any DLC until the reform it and I can check out if it's any better.

I suppose it does.

Shivering Isles was amazing, anything along that line with a large chunk of new stuff would be fantastic.
It's what I'd call a real DLC.
I'm the sort who shells out money for decent things, and not just any little add on.

Hahah, indeed.
And I know it was a test for them, and they listened to the feedback.

AHHHHH YEAAAA It's time for some Dawngaurd trailer goodness. And I have to say TAKE MY MONEY NOW!

Looks like a lot of things shown in the Skyrim Mash Keynote video that I linked to somewhere have made it into recent updates (i.e. Ranged Combat/Magic Kill Cams and now Mounted Combat) and now other things shown are part of the Dawngaurd DLC.

"So, DLC revolves around vampires, huh?
At least, that's what I took from the trailer.

Yeap that's what it looks like. Either u join the vampires or the dawguard in the same way as joining the legion vs the Storm cloaks

@ blaze: the 360 ps3 and pc will all get this dlc. 360 has an exclusive 30 day deal for the first two/three batches of dlc that Beth makes for skyrim. So you will get it on the ps3 you will just have to wait a bit longer.

"Better be two sides.
I'm not the vampiric sort.
Let me do some slaying.

Well the person doing the voice over does mention something about "or are you with THEM" speaking of the Dawnguard, so it's same to assume at the moment you will get to pick a side.
