It was her first foray into the main buildings; for the most parts, her ghostbusting- or rather, insanitycreaturebusting efforts had been concentrated on the dorms, her first priority- Reine missed her bed, her old way of life, the limited creature comforts she'd earned along the way. Swordbreaker in hand, she made her way through the familiar corridors, stopping for a moment at the vending machines. Did insanity affect food and drinks too, maybe?

Likely.. likely not, but she wasn't really sure, anyway. There was so little they knew, all in all, about anything at all. For the most part, they really were just minions, simply following instructions as best as they could, without being told the reasons why.

That was fine with her, for now. Trust needed to be earned, after all.

Rep hadn't been to the main buildings yet himself, simply focusing on where other people generally wanted to be, which was, by and large to start with the dorms. It seemed almost everyone had something or other they needed to retrieve from their respective rooms. He hadn't. Still, he'd helped on the sheer premise he could feel undeniably that any longer trapped in that bunker and he would explode.

The main building however had its incentives, and just as he too was eyeing up the vending machines, dispensers of sugary delights, his distraction was an excuse for one of the bastards to charge along the corridor and right into him. He snarled in irritation.

"Guess they don't ******** like window shoppers" he snarled as he hit back at the thing with Tracey.

"Or maybe they're hungry too?" She'd just looked up and noticed Rep staring longingly at candybars when the creature attacked, presumably. Reine decided that the other trainee would simultaneously be a very good and very bad moon trainee- at least along the corridors. As much as he was blocking her from the creature's attacks, he was also blocking her, and the vending machines along the sides didn't help very much.

Reine squeezed past him, somewhat apologetically, and then leapt at the creature, slashing at it. She wasn't sure which the worse threat at the moment was- the smaller snarling creature, or the large man with the terrifying weapon.

Luckily he was on her side; unluckily, if she wasn't careful, he was just as likely to carve her up as he was the monster.

She backed away a safe distance, and hoped it was enough...

Rep in small spaces really was a general localised threat. Part of learning to wield the axe was learning that it was pretty ******** important to have a good idea where people around you were as much as possible. So it was only once Reine backed away that he even dared to get back into the fray of battle.

He swung with a snarl once he was clear. ******** vending machine interrupting monster, it had to go.

And away it went as he landed the final blow to cleave it in two, or at least, dissipate it, whatever it was that happened to these strange things when they "died"

"That one wasn't so ******** bad at least."

With the creature gone Reine stepped a little closer to Rep, giving him a nod by way of greeting. "Individually they're not too bad," she agreed. "But this.. feels endless, doesn't it? Just fog everywhere, and monsters popping up here and there. Sometimes I kind of wonder if we're even doing this the right way, like, maybe if we built a fan huge enough to blow the fog away...."

She trailed off, looking away and blushing, it wasn't that she minded the fog- okay, no, she did: correction, she didn't mind having to fight the fog-creatures, and she didn't want to come across as sounding whiny, especially not in front of Rep, becausethe last time she'd done that, he'd ended up slapping her.. which had been, admittedly, beneficial, just unpleasant.

But most pain was.

"Glad to see you still alive, anyway," she said, abruptly- and awkwardly switching topics. "So, what's new with you? Doing okay in the underground base?"

It was too bad she hadn't bothered to bring spare change, because the packages of biscuits looked far more appealing than the rations they were served- not that food was the priority here, beating monsters was.

Some part of her, though, most likely the stomach-growly part, briefly wondered if they could just do the whole kick-the-vending-machine-and-profit thing, and blame the damage on insanity creatures.

"Yeah its like every ******** one killed, another ******** five spring up to replace em." he laughed at the fan suggestion. "Aye! Exactly. Would probably be better. Get rid of the fog, solve the problems, better than just swinging at shadows and hoping for the best."

At the moment at least it seemed, whining was a-okay.

"s**t's been pretty rough for me. I like my space, I don't like other people in it. Nowhere to move."

He cast his glance to the vending machines again, following almost the exact same train of thought.

"Would be a shame if they got broken..."

As the other monster barreled up this time he was ready and swung out with Tracey to knock it back.

He mayyy just have been aiming to catch the vending machine in the line of fire.

He agreed! Reine didn't even bother fighting to suppress the little spark of glee she felt when Rep laughed- she was still a little twitchy around him, half afraid of him: even if she was sure she could beat him in a fight, his personality was overwhelming, to say the least, and she would rather be on his good side.

"I wonder if it's that easy to get rid of, though. Wish the stupid phoenix had just gone into the other portal, I mean, it's their kind, isn't it? Stupid monsters." She noted the change in the way he attacked, a grin appearing on her face- he hadn't been extremely subtle trying to aim for the vending machine, but apparently they shared the same thoughts- might as well take advantage of resources present. To that end, she might have struck out as hard as she could at the monster, and, on jumping back, Reine made sure to hit the vending machine, grinning when she heard the clank of something falling out of it.

"I'd say it was inevitable, really, considering the unfortunate placement.."

"Would have saved us a lot of ******** trouble if it had." He hated the damn thing almost as much as he hated the horsemen, it hadn't almost killed him the way they had but it was almost as bad being shut in a room with all the other hunters. It just felt like a much more drawn out sort of death.

Chocolate bars and other sweet things could make life a bit more tolerable.

The thunk of whatever it was hitting the bottom of the machine only spurred him on further, he swung out at the mist creature once again and neatly finished it off, giving the vending machine another swipe for good measure, another thunk of dislodged treasure falling down.

"Jackpot!"

All the while he was trying VERY hard to ignore the sounds Tracey was making, insistently reminding him he was charged. Charged. And that Rep was all the rude things he could think of for not letting him vent it.

"Right? ****ing things can stay where they belong, in their own world. But did you see that explosion? Okay, well, not like you could have missed it. That was COOL. I can deal with a bit of fog if it means they're dead and gone." The smile on her face grew slightly strained, even as she crouched down at the vending machine to reap the spoils.

"I'm still upset that happened to you guys. Well, to us." Her voice was quieter now, her tone more thoughtful. "So it means a lot that, you know, they got what they deserved." The crackling of wrappers as she picked them up was a source of comfort, too, amidst the fog. Just thinking of the taste and texture of cake was making her hungry, and her stomach growled in anticipation. Later, when they got out of this place, they could split it; Reine was fairly picky, which meant Rep would get more out of it- as long as he didn't fight with her over what she wanted.

Handful after handful of treats were happily shoved into her pockets- like a hamster's cheeks, almost, but just when she was about done, something knocked her over, spilling all her loot.

One more of those ****ing monsters, ugh.

"Aye! That EXPLOSION!" He was suddenly very animated. He'd REALLY loved the explosion. Watching an entire civilisation burn, while disturbing for some people clearly was nothing of the sort for Rep, he found it beyond delightful. "It was the best ******** thing ever. Seriously. And yeah, the fog was worth that... for a bit anyway."

He watched her gather the spoils like a hawk, determined to make sure he didn't get done out of a single bar come the end of their little mission.

Suddenly there was a tiny monster, and it was after their ******** chocolate bars.

He used everything he had on the little b*****d.

Rep's laughter was surprisingly infectious. While she'd been afraid of him before, just a little, this conversation with him was going much better than any interactions they'd had previously. He seemed to be in a much better mood overall- not quite the same person he'd been when she first met him. Whatever happened to him, it must have been really good.

"I didn't even see it coming," she added. "The division leads- I don't know what they were thinking, but respect, man, so much respect." This time at least she thought to leave Caelius' name out, in particular. As much as she wished she'd gotten to see more of the death division lead during the missions, they'd more or less accomplished what they'd gone there to do, and that was what counted.

Besides, he might be all the more surprised when she finally managed to prove herself to him, some way or another.

She noted the staring, and couldn't help chuckling again. The guy really did get riled up when it came to anything sweet, apparently, and she nodded, as a sort of reassurance- she wasn't going to steal all this stuff, candy wasn't worth getting sliced into two by an angry man with a giant weapon.
